It is split into two shops, the barber in the front and a shoe repair towards the back. An elderly gentlemen was available to cut my hair and did a good job. RIDICULOUS! They literally charged me $15 because I Paid with card instead of cash. Last time I paid $36 for shave and beard and now I paid 50!!! Went with a friend as my English was so so. It was the quickest shortest haircut I have ever had. He pulled out the old fashioned Osters #1.5 (I wanted a crewcut!) for the top then Wahl no attachment within seconds I was basically bald. It will take some time to get use to it! Then for some strange reason he pulled out those Osters put on the #1. !!!!! And used Iike forever. He said my hair was uneven? What hair was he talking about? After my long-time barber in the Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station retired and closed his shop last last year I had to search around for a new one. I've gone here twice now, since it's close to my apartment, and gotten my hair cut from Robert. He's great. I didn't even have to tell him more than that I needed it cut, since I don't know how to describe this sort of thing. He just looked at my head and said, "I know what to do with it." My wife likes the way he cut my hair both times, and she's far more particular about my hair than I am. Robert has been pleasant to chat with while he cuts my hair. The shop doesn't stink of weird hair chemicals the way most barber shops do. And the prices here are quite reasonable. Now my wife says I should become a hippy before I let anyone except Robert cut my hair. read more

I don't usually go to white barber shops but this one was empty and I just needed an edge up and beard trim so figured I'd roll the ethnic hair dice. They were friendly enough and made small talk, gave the impression they were skilled at barbering and you can tell this place has been around for years and years. He did an acceptable job but nowhere near the attention to detail that my regular barbers do, not to mention charged $20 when thats how much my haircuts + beard trim cost but I suppose thats the going rate in Manhattan. Got a really solid haircut, especially considering they charge half the going rate! I'm incredibly picky about my hair (ask my wife), but these guys know how to do exactly what you ask for and they do it well. And did I mention it's only $17? Tip well! This Barber shop is kind of a one stop shop. I have used them for haircuts, watch repair and even bought an umbrella. They started by doing shoe repair (have not used that yet) and added services over the years. George is the owner, I think. I get my hair cut by Robert, who I have followed for over 16 years now. He takes the time to get it right. The prices have gone up but they are still reasonable. I pay cash each time. Take credit cards, but there is a fee. Do I recommend them? Definitely. So - as a bald man I go into barber shops to have my own shaving attempts supported ,as my hands slightly shake and there are always spots I miss -plus as a man over 60- we get hair growing in the most interesting places,that look much better groomed/shaved -plus eyebrows that left unattended ,can get rather out of control. He was gracious,professional and charged me a very fair price-plus they have a frequent buyer card and a keymaker/shoe repair in the back. This place is amazing. Hot towel, good TV, a shoe repair shop in case you spend a lot of time waiting. My barber (yes I said"my") even remembered my brother and I after only visiting once before. Every other barber I've been to in the city has been pushy about how I should cut my hair, or just playing bad at doing it. These guys listen to what you want and do everything they can to get it right. Cannot recommend this place enough. This is a barbershop that deserves to stay open. read more

I get my hair cut by George every few weeks for 3 years and he's one of the best barbers I've ever had, especially for such low cost. I believe they charge $20, though I always tip so I can't actually say how much it actually costs. George is my man - so friendly and fun to hang out with. I legitimately enjoy his company more so than any other barber and look forward to coming. I lived in the neighborhood and would regularly pop in just to say hi and he always was extremely welcoming. I moved to the Upper West Side recently and though I haven't needed a haircut yet, I definitely plan on making the trek down. They can do traditional haircuts, fades, buzzes, you name it. And they've got the classic straight razor neck trim with warm shaving cream as an added plus. I've also never had anyone push any products on me, which I think is the only place I've ever experienced this. Plus, there is a shoe and jewelry repair store as well. read more
