From the moment I called and got Bri (sp??) to walking in and having Alex as my tech and Dr Kelly willing to work with me and my difficult cat, I knew I was in the right place. Having just been 'fired' from our last vet, I had started to look for anyone willing to see my aggressive cat. Then she came up injured. At a time when I have multiple voice mails, emails, and even held for 30 minutes trying to get someone to pick up a phone, I did not expect much more. I was pleasantly mistaken. The phone was picked up quickly and I had a short hold. I was then able to explain my difficult position. My cat is injured and mean as hell. Unable to be examined without sedation, but having no current bloodwork, no one was willing. They were able to let me walk in the next day. No appointment but I was willing to do whatever it took to have a chance at getting her seen. Alex was thorough and kind. Dr Kelly did not judge my ill tempered girl. They worked with us and were wonderful the entire time. I will absolutely recommend them and have already told a few people to switch from my old vet. I cannot say enough great things. Thank you does not feel like enough. Anyone who gets that special bond of human to animal knows how much it means to meet people who genuinely care about their animal as much as they do. read more

My French Bulldog got out and was hit by a car and I was searching for a reasonable emergency vet the same day it happened. I called a vet in Arcadia who said they were closing and they recommended Desert Ark Veterinary. I brought my dog there same day and what impressed me was no walk in fee, reasonably priced and a very clean facility with a caring staff! Been taking my cats there for a few months. I have been okay with their treatment so far, but will not be going back. When I went the other day with my kitten who had been limping for a few days, I left with all the wrong info. They took her back and kept coming to me with updates, cost of the process and what process. She needed an xray to see if her limb was broken. After the xrays, they showed me the xray and said it was a soft tissue injury as there were no signs of trama. Then a few days later, they call and said they read the xray wrong, she has a fracture that needs repair and a possible amputation! REALLY! Now how can you even suggest that when you can't even read an xray. I will be consulting with an orthopedic vet. read more

I've had to bring both of my girls in here for serious skin issues and came in as walk ins both times. I work in the vet industry and when you need someone fast, especially on weekends, you have to expect a wait time. With that being said, I think the wait time for me both times was very feasible. Both Dr's. I had were great and Dr. Starr today made me feel very comfortable and was extremely kind to me and my kiddo. Front desk staff was also super helpful today as well! I 100% SUSPECT Desert Ark reported my family to animal control after we asked for an adjustment to our bill after losing a 6 week old kitten the morning following our $350 "visit." We requested an adjustment to our bill for medications and diagnosis as this isn't the first time we lost an animal with 24 hours of treatment by Desert Ark. We were NOT aggressive in any way, shape, or form. We simply emailed our request for their consideration, which was met with this response from a Desert Ark representative stating "After careful consideration, we have determined that our hospitals may no longer be the right fit for you and your pets needs. We believe it would be best for you and your pets to receive care from a vetinary team that aligns more closely we with your expectations." D.A. were made aware that our family has been adopting and caring for numerous cats/feral kittens discovered on our property upon relocation in 2020 to our current home. Seeing as we're receiving no outside assistance, we asked if they would consider a discounted rate for care, as a single animal can be very expensive to treat, let alone dozzens! We received the termination email and were subsequently visited by animal control today. The representative apologized for the situation and noted, "we were clearly taking excellent care of all the animals within the home, as well as all outdoor cats feeding stations. The officer further explained that they had zero need to photograph our home/property and would close the case effective immediately. As a small business owner, I have offered to make adjustments for customers from time to time to try to remedy negative situations. Termination of a client, with literally dozens of pets, makes zero business sense!? I look forward to D.A.s response. read more

My dog was coughing non-stop for 36 hours, and all they wanted to do was ring up over $1,000 in unnecessary tests. Tests I told their Veterinarian I had already done two weeks earlier at another vet clinic for only $500 with negative results, and yet they wanted to redo these tests to jack up the costs. They wanted to give my dog a shot he didn't need for another $50 or more, and then sold me medication for $55 that was only $3 at my pharmacy. They did nothing to help my dog's non-stop coughing while I was there and left with my dog repeatedly coughing even after purchasing their overpriced medication, and now my dog will have to continue coughing for another 36 hours until the weekend is over and take him to a real veterinarian who won't waste my time, money, and allow my dog to suffer needlessly. Service was slow, way overpriced, in addition to unnecessary testing and billing, and allowing my dog to needlessly suffer is completely unconscionable. This is by far the worst vet clinic there is, and a complete sham/scam to steal your money !!! read more

This is a place I discovered in a desperate time, but I'm so glad me and my family went. Our dog had a seizure which caused her health to declined dramatically and so we had to put her down. They were the only place that was willing to take us in. We called so many different places and nobody was willing to see our dog. We knew the time was coming but like any dog owner we were still in shock. The faculty was super nice to us and gave us everything we possibly needed. I really do appreciate their service. No we have a new family member and I'm happy to say that I will continue to go to them because of how caring and kind they were especially to my furry friend. read more

Called kinda late one night (7:30ish) because my 2 year old Chihuahua mix had been sick (vomiting and diarrhea) earlier that day and had just had a nothing but blood diarrhea incident right before i called. Spoke with a man that explained to me that they just had an Emergency brought in and he would put me on hold to see if the Dr's could also see my dog. After waiting about 5 minutes, he returns to tell me that they wouldn't be able to see my dog and that is was probably a good idea not to have came in as their office closed in 15 minutes (8pm) and that if i had brought my dog in, i would've had to pay for their service(s) and then would have had to take my dog elsewhere when they closed. This business is right across from where i live but i will NEVER take any of my pets there, EVER. Thankfully i had to make a drive to 1st Pet on 7th Ave and Union Hills and they are wonderful there. I would not recommend this place of business at all. read more

Took my dog in for her an allergy shot, quick simple shot. It look 45 minutes after my appointment to get my dog in. The vet tech first said I need to come in every 3-4 months for this $200 shot. She is literally guilty tripping me the entire time, mind you it takes WEEKS to get an appointment for this, I had also brought my dog in in July, 4 months had passed, I had been trying for again WEEKS to get her in. She comes out with my dog after the shot and continues to guilt trip me because he allergies were bad. Again I had been trying for weeks to get her in so yeah it started getting bad, and I took the first appointment I could get even though I was 2 hours LATE FOR WORK. She continues rambling on while not giving me the leash to my pet. I continue to tell her I'm late for work. She then has an attitude and says I hadn't been in since April. When my past appointments clearly say I'd been there in July, she then says I need to come ever 4-8 weeks for this $200 shot not 3-4 months. She was very rude and clearly didn't know much of what she was even saying herself as nothing was adding up. She was pushing for more tests and medication trying to rack up a bill and not being polite about it. All my dog needed was the shot, she's perfectly fine now no scratches or sneezing. I was however very late for work and was upset how this lady had the audacity to speak to me as if I'm a bad pet owner for not getting my dog in early. WHEN I TRIED FOR A MONTH TO GET HER IN. On top of it all she was dressed in baggy clothes, thick black eyeliner that was clearly from the night before and hair a mess. She looked hungover and very unprofessional. Every time I come here there's a bill of $600 or more on things my dog does not need. They just want your money, they can care less about the actual welfare of your pets. read more

Highly Recommend! Hands down the best veterinary care I've been to. Our cat had a wound on his side that was an abscess and popped. He was in excruciating pain and my vet was weeks out to get an appointment. The staff there were so friendly, kind, and quick to help us. Melonie at the front desk was so friendly and attentive when we were describing the issue. Dr. Starr and her assistant tech cared for our baby and they were so sweet and took their time to explain the issue and the aftercare process. im a so great full for this new location emergancy care. of coruse my 11 yr old man dog got very I'll no eating no drinking no loving on me he normally is a great therapy doozy open on the 4 July thank goodness from the beginning the operators to the dr were amazing I have m s and a brain injury and sometimes I struggle with my cog, but the staff was very pacient with my issues they wrote th8 gs down for me explained things a lot for me freckles is in just a few hours now eating and had his first bm and peeing again,no more crying they didn't get weird when I refusesed some testing due to he had an appt on the 5 th with his reg vet they eve incuraged him to get the fallow up amazing the only reason I don't give a 5 star YET is they are quite expensive read more

I feel like there isn't enough good out there so I wanted to share my experience with Desert Ark. My senior chihuahua was showing signs of passing. I was hoping that would be able to do this at home peacefully but overnight he had a change in his breathing that was hard to watch and I knew he was uncomfortable. I called around to about 5 different animal hospital because I knew he needed some kind of relief that night. Whatever that looked like. Someone recommended we call Desert Ark and sure enough the gal on the phone said they would be there until 8pm and that I could just come by without an appointment. I was so relieved and also very anxious and sad knowing that we were taking him to a foreign environment to put him down. Not exactly what I wanted. None the less he needed to be seen and when we arrived the immediately placed me and my kids and my Pedro in a room with a couch and dimmable lights. The staff was very kind and professional and walked us through the entire process. After the assessment it was clear we were doing the right thing for him and it was time to proceed. I opted to just have them do it one step after the other but they had so many options to offer including pain killers initially so you can spend more time in the comfort room with your puppy. When the medication was given they let me keep him on my lap with each of my kids on either side. We were able to love on him as much as we wanted. The vet was positioned right in front of him and the loving tone of her voice and the way she handled my Pedro was so incredible. She kept telling him he was sick a good and sweet boy and she would stroke his face while speaking in such a soft and comforting tone. Although this was not my first option for my senior I can say that it was absolutely peaceful. He went very quickly and peacefully and when they were done they gave us the option for even more time! We opted to take him home for burial on some land and they prepared a beautiful box for him to lay in. They gave us cards with a poem about the rainbow bridge and stamped his paws and little nose. They turned a painful process into one that I can look back and say I am at peace with. Thank you to the entire staff and the sweet sweet vet on that night. I will be bringing my other puppies to you guys for regular vet care for sure! read more

Desert Ark looks professional but the professionalism the staff carried here is the standards of a high school girl. it was sad being here with the amount of dirty looks and attitude i've received. I had called in the morning to describe my dogs symptoms and the secretary herself was having problems trying to process a suggestion for me. She said, " I have a 2pm appointment available today but it sounds like your dog is in pretty urgent condition as if you wanted to, you could bring her in sooner to see our urgent doctor who comes in at 10am" and i was like? so do you recommend me bringing her in now or at 2pm? she couldn't tell me lol, I decided to bring my dog in at 10:30am where she brought my dog to the back for 3 min while i filled out paper work and then brought her back out to me and told me we needed to go to another room, and proceeded to walk behind my struggling dog and push her, trying to hustle my dog into this room who was obviously struggling with breathing and when i told the receptionist to back up a little bit, she took that extremely personally and gave me a very irritated look. Stashed me in a waiting room for almost an hour and a half and wanted to tell me all of their staff was busy dealing with a more critical patient and had to have the manager tell me "i'm sorry your having issues understanding " girl please. I just wanted to know how much longer and all FIVE EMPLOYEES including the manager all standing around the desk with zero patients in the waiting area- they were obviously not busy and i just wanted someone to look at my dog? I needed suggestions that were never offered. They had zero patience/tolerance for me and you gotta have thick skin being in this industry. I'm sorry y'all felt the need to steep so low and ain't cut out for stressful situations. Would never trust y'all with any animal nor would i recommend this location to anyone with animals in urgent care as they really don't understand how to prioritize let alone how to deal with high stressful situations. I would never hire employees that were so dismissive and rude as the crew at this veterinarian clinic were. read more

I'm in tears as I write this but peaceful tears.. the past weekend my sweet dog lulu went from such a happy loving dog to such a sick dog before our eyes in just a few days. I called around to sooo many different vets trying to get lulu seen as soon as possible but everywhere I called was HOURS even days of a wait. Desert Ark was probably my 8th vet to call and ( I cant remember her name) but the front desk rep was so helpful cause although they didn't have any openings and urgent care didn't open till 10 she helped by giving me a list of places she recommended. As I called around she actually called me back (that was truly helpful) saying the doctor finished early was able to see lulu if we hadn't already found a place ( which we didn't). We got there and lulu was seen as soon as we walked in. The wait was not long at all and the staff was truly amazing and helped with lulu. It breaks my heart to say my baby girl didn't make it she was just to sick and I think God just needed her a little more. Few days went by and the veterinarian personally called me after being out of the office after seeing lulu to see how she was doing. I had to break the news to her which broke her heart as well and made it clear if there was anything they could do they are there to help.. These people will LOVE and CARE for your animal as if it was their own. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else. I am so thankful for all of the staff at Desert Ark! Last month my pug puppy was bit by an off-leash dog over Labor Day weekend so our usual vet was closed, I knew they did urgent care so I took her in hoping someone could possibly help! I was so fortunate that they had a minute and were able to take the time to see my pug! They were so kind and reassuring the whole time and took such good care of her! They did the treatments, gave me the meds she needed, and scheduled an appointment for 10 days out just to make sure she was doing okay! Well, unfortunately, she had a bad reaction to one of the meds, I called in the morning when they opened and they were able to take her in again and gave her a new medicine that was perfect and had no adverse reactions at all! They had me keep the original 10-day out appointment and my puppy was then released from care! They were so nice the whole time and loved on my pug as if she was theirs! I am so appreciative of everything they did! I highly recommend this place! read more
