The vet techs and female vets are nice and personable and treat my princess well. Dr. Bob is polite enough, but generic in his approach and manner. And they are impossible to get ahold of. No one answers the phone. They use an answering service to call clients back, but I would prefer someone just pick up in the first place. Outside of business hours, you are unable to leave a message. They have a recording stating they are closed, etc. that repeats. The location is convenient for me and once there, I have had only pleasant experiences. After some issues I had with my former vet, I thought I'd try Arlington again. I've got an old dog with a chronic condition, and they can do the testing and handle the meds. I had my first visit, and it's definitely a pleasant environment inside. The staff are REALLY friendly, which I appreciate a lot. I've found that more often than not, when I call it goes to voicemail, but today I got a live person to answer my question. The vet who checked my dog was a bit older, but very kind and gentle. I have been on the fence on whether or not it's time to put the old man down. Based on what he saw, it's not time. Which brings me to the prescriptions. It appears that there is a major issue right now regarding vets and how prescriptions are handled. With my last vet, to get the meds in their network, it would have cost me $200 a month. I found another vet that they checked out and were satisfied with, so they would send prescriptions there and they would be mailed to me. Arlington will either connect you with their pharmacy or give you a written prescription for an extra charge. The written prescription can be handy, and you can use any place you want, but you have to be prepared to wait. The upside is that using their network, the same meds I had been getting was only $20 more, partly because of a $15 charge that seems like it should only be on the first one shipped. They would not consider checking out the place I had been using. It sounds like that's their standard policy, so that's that! My dog was also prescribed some arthritis meds. Instead of a month supply, the seemed to fill a bottle with as much as they could and charged me for that. It was a hit on my wallet. I would have liked to have been offered some choices, like a 1 or 2 month supply. Overall, I was pretty happy with everything, and their pharmacy does offer auto ship options. I'll just have to remember to ask questions about the prescriptions ahead of time! I'm definitely happy with the friendliness of the staff. They all seem like they genuinely enjoy their jobs. I would not recommend. When you call can never get a person. Always a call back 4 hours later. Can never get a sick visit appt. They suggest going to the urgent care on west side or going to their urgent care visit day on mondays in which they jack up the cost. Front desk staff were kind and courteous and clearly care about animals. I think the main issue I have is with their business model. They show you estimated costs of worst case scenarios which may cause anxiety (my estimate for an annual exam was estimated to be almost $2000 when the final visit was only $126 for exam fee and two vaccines). I also think they do try to push a lot of services onto you as well unnecessarily. If you're looking to get a basic exam, it can be done here. Since our dog was a puppy we have used this vet. I have nothing than praise for them. My only complaint is running late. I was handed a late/ no show policy. I understand that. My suggestion would be if you and your pet are in the treatment room for more than 10 or 20 minutes, someone just checks back in with you. I waited 40 mn. Arlington has been so helpful with our dog, Ruby. She has been in two dog fights due to issues with a housemate (which we have since removed from the home due to the repeated aggression). The first time, they cleaned her wounds and sent us home with antibiotics, as the attack wasn't too serious and didn't cause very much damage. They were quick to get us in and took great care of her. The second time, they suggested we take her to Indy Vet for emergency because they did not have any surgeons available. However, when we took her in there to see if they could help her, they still took the time to pack her wounds and wrap her up so that we could safely transport her to Indianapolis. They did not charge us at all for that. IndyVet charged us over $1,000 for a quick stapling her chest shut and bandaging her. The swelling the bandages caused her was terrible and we immediately made a follow up appointment with Arlington. Dr. Breeze rectified these issues and after just one visit, her swelling went down over 50%! She and Dr. Dale have both taken such amazing care of her. I am so grateful for all of the love and care they have put into her and making sure she is healing properly. They are truly amazing and kind. We switched our Shi Tzu's vet from Banfield in Greenwood to Arlington Heights in our dog's last months (he was 17+ years old!). He received outstanding care and they made us feel very comfortable with their compassion for such an elderly old gent. When it was time to put or precious Bailee down they could not have been nicer or more understanding of what we were going thru. Our pup died peacefully and painlessly and we will miss him but it was definitely time They handled his cremation thru Pet Angel and when we were presented with his ashes in such a beautiful container it warmed our hearts. I moved to Bloomington recently and wanted to register my two kitties at a vet. The nurses and vet were really friendly and helpful here, and I didn't think $42 for two cats (for both) for a first visit was too bad. I also brought a dog in there that I found running loose and they scanned him for a chip for me, and lent me a leash to use until I brought him to the shelter. Nice place, nice people. read more

We left our vet after about 20 years of being with them, I was very unsure about bringing our pets to a new place but the staff is ultra nice, making us feel welcome even from the first call. The first visit was great, no issues-I'm still not familiar with their routines, it's a bit different but nothing bad. The second visit I took our new pup in and it was okay. I still was not sold on the clinic and considered going to a different one. The third visit-I walked in about 5 minutes late, ugh! Turns out they had me down for way earlier and I was 35 minutes late. They still got us in fairly quickly, they were super busy that day, the small waiting room was packed which made my pup a little crazy/over stimulated. I was considering leaving when they called us back and I am so glad I stayed! They vet was one I had not met, she was extremely nice, he was just there for shots but looked him over, played with him and was very attentive. I know she was busy but she took her time and did not make me feel rushed at all. She even had the front desk people come to the back and check us out-I was shocked, no one had ever done that before! Love her and will absolutely drive across town to visit Dr. Jenn! The up front staff is very rude especially the older woman. They are now charging a deposit for making an appointment. We called Arlington Heights when our dog started behaving erratically and displayed signs of a concussion. We were turned away and had to drive an hour-and-a-half to IndyVets, where we spent a total of 8 hours and $700. A few months later we got our dog into AHVH for some routine shots. The staff was nice enough, but the vet seemed overly interested in upselling services, and the cost of the shots was considerably higher than our previous vet. It wasn't the worst experience, but it left a lot to be desired - and getting turned away in an emergency seems unconscionable for a place that calls itself a "hospital." If you don't have the staff to handle emergencies, or you simply don't want that to be part of your business, that's fine. But then change your name, because you're just a regular veterinary clinic. If nothing else, AHVH is a perfect example of why Bloomington needs a real 24 hour veterinary hospital. For a city this size, with so many pet owners and three public dog parks, Bloomington could clearly support one. If you need more evidence, just look at all the comments in Bloomington FB groups and NextDoor app. You'll find dozens of anecdotes just like mine - many with the same complaints about AHVH. People are driving as far away as Evansville for emergency veterinary care because they were turned away from from the only place in Bloomington that calls itself a "veterinary hospital." read more

i have the highest regard for Arlington Heights Vet. My family needed the emergency care. It was a tragic night as our dog passed away. And despite our immensely heavy hearts, emotional breakdowns and worry, the Dr made it... somehow, okay. We handled our sadness mostly because of how sincere, professional and caring the Dr was. He was completely thorough in explaining what was happening with our dog, and was very clear about every possible option. I'm so grateful that even at midnight the Dr came in to help and took such good care of our Carly, and really, our family. In the most difficult time, he guided us with professionalism and kindness. The assistant, Mike, was also extremely helpful and kind. Our sweet Carly, a beautiful Border Collie that we loved for 14yrs, will rest in peace. read more

I had no clue that they changed their policy and currently are an appointment only facility (walk-ins only at the south location). The three technicians working were amazing, though. Summary? Big rip off. So my cat has chronic allergies. She needs steroid shots every three months. Went to Arlington North and the vet there was straightforward and great about how nothing really helps except steroid shots. Went to do appointments at South because it's easier to do an appt than walk-in for my schedule. Both times I went, the vets kept asking me about doing all these other procedures that have not worked on her and are a waste of time and money. First time, I saw someone who only charged me the cost of the vaccine ($35) because the visit lasted less than 5 minutes. Second time, I saw Pinkerton who charged me $80 for a visit that lasted less than 5 minutes. The vet techs wouldn't let me leave without paying $45 for the 1-2 pet office visit for my one pet that lasted under 5 minutes plus the $35 shot that Pinkerton said she reduced from the last time I came in. I did not want to have my pet's dosage reduced and had to stay longer to call my bank to transfer money into my account, as I only had $40 in it fully expecting it to be $35 like the first visit. So then I wake up this morning, less than one month after the visit, to find my cat has more sores. The shot didn't work because she gave my pet much less of a dosage than before. So I pay $80 for a shot that lasts less than a month despite the fact that the two prior visits I paid much less for shots that worked a full three months. I called to complain, and they called back saying they can't do anything except give her Zyrtec and Bendryl, which I have tried before and don't work. NEVER go to Pinkerton. She will take your money and force you to come back to her sooner than you would have before. I spent two weeks' worth of grocery money on a vet visit that lasted less than 5 minutes and a shot that lasted less than one month. Worst waste of money ever. read more

They really need to change these to give 0 Stars. They refused to see my dog who was bleeding profusely after a fight with another dog. The woman on the phone told me because I was not a current client that they wouldn't see my dog on an emergency basis. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard what difference does it make they're going to get paid whether or not you've been there before! I mean they obviously don't care about the animals they care about the money so why does it matter who they get it from! It matters because they don't want to work on the weekends so they try to keep the clientele to a minimum! Just keep in mind if your family doctor or emergency room doctor would tell you the same thing while you're having a heart attack! Sorry you'll have to drive an hour and a half to Indianapolis while your dog is bleeding to death! I literally told her I didn't think he would make it to Indianapolis! But she didn't care! Luckily I found a very nice vet who takes calls at home personally on the weekend, The way patient care should be! I brought my cat here because my regular vet wasn't able to get him in right away. They seem to be mostly staffed by a bunch of high school kids, and while this isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself on the very first day one of them messed up the directions up on my cat's prescription label. Fortunately I caught the mistake and had them correct it the next day, but in other circumstances this could have been a potentially deadly error for someone's pet. Furthermore, after the second day of picking up my cat I got him home only to discover that he was in worse shape than when I had dropped him off in the morning. Nobody there informed me of this when picking him up, and in fact had given me the impression that he was doing better, and then on top of this they had the audacity to charge me a $100 "observation fee" even though somebody obviously wasn't being very observant. Then to add insult to injury my cat died over the weekend. I am not blaming Arlington Heights for this. They did all the things for him that any vet would have done. But even though I spoke to a lady there the next week and told her all about my recent bad experiences nobody has ever contacted me back and I am afraid that nothing is going to change with them. At this point I would not take my pet rock to this clinic. I would advise anybody who loves and cares about their pet to consider looking elsewhere. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My mother was in Bloomington for the weekend and took possession of an 8 week old kitten that was being abused by a group of homeless people. The kitten started having seizures in the middle of the night and my mom called this vet for help, as it is the only office that was categorized as an emergency vet. The vet refused to treat the kitten because my mom was not a client, despite her offers to prepay the bill. I don't know how any veterinarian can refuse help to a dying kitten over worries that a new customer wouldn't pay. He now has to live with the fact that the kitten didn't make it through the night (and passed away suffering) over his concerns regarding bill payment. I would never trust this vet with the care of my animals, he clearly doesn't care about his patients or animals in general. read more

After I made the appointment, I got an email and what I made was actually just a "reservation" and someone from their office would call to confirm. Monday morning comes around and NO CALL. I had to call them and then the receptionist tells me she doesn't have the time I chose available but she had time on Tuesday and that I should have gotten an email. I never did receive an email so were they simply going to let me show up and not see us? Very poor customer service. I have a male and a female cat named Wayland and Luna. I found out a few weeks ago she has worms because I saw them in her poop. So I called the south side Arlington vet 3 different times to explain the situation and get everything I needed and I explained on the phone 3 different times that she has worms and I want to get both of them checked to be safe. So the lady told me I needed to come in and fill out new patient paperwork which I did. My Fiancé dropped my kitties off for the appointment so I wrote in the comment section of the new patient paperwork that Luna has worms and I need Wayland also checked for worms. So before the visit I paid $95 for both of them. And then the appointment only took 20 minutes. So when the vet called my fiancé they told him that he needed to pick them up ASAP because they can't have them here all day. They both got up to date on all of their shots and then was sent with preventative flea, worm, tick etc. medicine. So that was fine and it ended up costing me an extra $350. And nobody explained anything. Later that night before they closed I got to thinking about what this preventative medicine is going to do for them if they already have the worms. So I called the vet and asked if their test for worms was positive or negative and she told me that in order for them to test for worms they need to take a fecal sample of both animals which they never did. And so I got crappy with her on the phone saying that I specifically talked to multiple people and even wrote it down in the paperwork what I needed done and your telling me it didn't get done. So everyone failed to tell me that I needed to bring in a fecal. So they didn't even do their job and they were rude and didn't do what I asked of them. I didn't even need the preventative medicine just the test and the medicine to combat the worms they already have. I will never go to them again. read more

I was extremely happy with our first visit. Doctors and staff were very nice and professional. We have been going to Arlington heights for years because they are near by. I've never been overly impressed. Once we got two kittens from the animal shelter and they didn't seem well. Went to arlington walk-in and they gave them both some medicine. That night they didn't seem better and the next day worse. I called and brought them back in. The vet said one of them needed to be put to sleep and she gave the other one a stronger medicine. he was 100% better that day. obviously they both would have lived if she wasn't incompetent. Another one of my cats got attacked by an animal when she got out two days ago. I called them yesterday and left a message on their emergency line. No call back. I called this morning and the guy who answered said they were already booked for emergency appointments this morning but call back at shift change at two and they should be able to get me in. Started calling at 1:57 and finally got an answer. the lady said they weren't taking emergency appointments and take my cat to Indy. Not all of us can run to Indy. I said can I make the cat an appointment? She said not until the 19th. so the guy this morning said they'd just filled up for today, but they won't take another emergency until the 19th? I know they will blame covid, but she obviously lied to me. Emergencies aren't planned. That's why they are emergencies. They couldn't have all emergency appointments booked for 10 days. I got my cat an appointment in three days with ellettsville animal hospital. They were super nice and I look forward to getting away from this place. I guess my advice would be go here as long as you know your pet will never need immediate attention or you don't want to take the chance on them dying. i should have known they were terrible when i read in the paper that the building caught fire and the tech on duty ran in to save all the animals and got some burns in the process. Then they started a go-fund me for his hospital visit bills. Seriously? The vets wouldn't chip in and pay this guy's bill who risked his life for the animals. and it was not very much money. not classy at all. You can tell money motivates these vets. read more

I have no idea whether the vets are good or not, but I've never dealt with such a flaky staff at any business in my life. I made an appointment about a month in advance because that was the earliest they could fit me in. That's perfectly understandable. I got a courtesy call reminding me of my appointment the day before, so I assumed everything was fine. I arrived 15 minutes early, called their desk, left a message, and waited in the car like they asked me to. Called repeatedly and couldn't get through. Finally went and tried to check in in person at their desk. It took a while for the person to come to the desk, and she informed me that they were too busy to fit me in and I'd have to reschedule. Seriously!? When were they planning to inform me my appointment had effectively been canceled? There's absolutely no point in rescheduling; what assurance do I have that the same thing won't happen next time? I'm not going to wait another month to drive across town only to reschedule yet again. I'll find a vet who can keep their appointments. read more

This vet charged me the wrong amount and never fixed it. One worker told me information about feeding my rabbit and another working told me completely different information the next time I was there. I had an appointment to have my bunny neutered and they had a lot of emergency surgeries and wouldn't be able to get to him for hours, and they didn't tell me that until i was there, and then they discussed keeping my bunny with another animal in front of me, and the workers said he could stay in the carrier i brought him in for the hours until they could neuter him, because they didn't have any available space for him!! i'm not going to keep my bunny in a tiny box for hours!! i said i would take him home and for them to call when they were ready and they never called. eventually i called and that's when they told me they wouldn't even be able to do it today. when i initially took him and they told me they wouldn't be able to get to it for hours, even though i had an appointment, i asked why nobody told me before i brought my bunny in, and she said she was "telling me right now." then they asked if i brought any food for my bunny, when i didn't because when i made the appointment i specifically asked if i should and they told me i shouldn't bring any food or hay for him. i can't believe the service and unprofessionalism of this place you need to coordinate your workers and get your facts straight and like just not be rude to people that come in and have been trying to stay exclusively at your vet. read more

We have been patients with all of our animals since we moved here 13 years ago. Last night, my son was playing with a small bouncy ball and our dog grabbed it. The ball got lodged in her throat and she was struggling to breathe. I called Arlington to bring her in for help because the situation was very serious, only to be told, that because we haven't been there in a few years, we were no longer considered patients and she could not be seen. Apparently this is their "policy" as I was told several times while pleading for help. They directed me to the emergency clinic in Indianapolis, over an hour away with a blocked esophagus. It was clear she was not going to survive the trip. I was completely shocked and could not believe they would not treat her. It is not as if we had never been a patient or that I was not going to pay for any treatment. I am utterly disgusted with their lack of compassion and willingness to allow an animal/pet/family member to die over a policy. I had to watch my nine year old cry his heart out because of this. They should be ashamed of themselves; they are a Veterinary Hospital with no compassion and ruled by the almighty dollar. They have lost a customer and now have a mission to expose their ruthless behavior. read more
