Recently went to Montclair Jewelers for a custom ring. I came in with a single photo as a source of inspiration - a ring I saw in Hudson that I felt was grossly overpriced. I'm SO thankful I came here! The inspiration was a 3-stone bageutte pinky ring. This family of jewelers was beyond helpful. Being a self-aware, very picky shopper, I know I am not always easily pleased. However, the staff/family were so supportive - commonly referencing in-stock items, other photos/catalogs to understand all my preferences (style, width of ring band, type of taper, stone height). I left feeling totally taken care of - as if I was part of their family. To no surprise, the ring came out beautifully. It even exceeded my expectations!! However, what was most heartwarming was how deeply invested the whole team was in my happiness with the ring! As a jewelry lover - someone always in search of heirloom-like pieces I cannot recommend this group of talented individuals more! I have been in Montclair for over 20 years and always took my watches to a place in Upper Montclair for a new battery until it closed. My wife went to the jewelry store on Bellevue to get a new battery and thankfully asked the price. She was quoted somewhere north of $40 and said no thank you. Montclair Jeweler's did it for $7 right on the spot and couldn't be nicer. There should be a law! read more

I also visited Fords Jewelers in Woodbridge and Bergdorf Goodman on the other side of town in Montclair. Aaron has repaired vintage watches for me several times and I have always been satisfied with his meticulous reasonable work as a watchmaker. So I asked if he could design and make a red god and opal necklace to match some earrings that were made in Israel that I gave my wife years ago. Beware dishonesty at its best. Please Please please be careful dealing with this very deceptive couple who pose to be a nice honest business owners. They actually reset a diamond for me,pretended to melt down the original setting which belonged to my recently deceased mother. In actuality they reset the stone in a run of the mill setting,reset my mothers original setting and sold me a peice of garbage. I was sent to them by a family member I live in south jersey so they never thought I would come back and see my moms ring in their window. After threats of contacting the police I now have my moms setting back which I now wear on a chain for a necklace. These people are not nice and very dishonest. Stay away. read more
