I've never been too motivated to sign up for Yelp, because writing reviews always seemed like a lot of work, but my experience with Armadillo Auto Glass was enough to get me to sign up. Some good-for-nothing s.o.b. broke into my car last night to steal my (not all that nice) stereo. I called the two local Honda dealerships to get quotes - one quoted me $400 and told me it would take a day for them to get the window in stock, the other referred me to a service based in Georgetown. Armadillo had some good reviews on Yelp, so I figured I'd give it a try. Greg, as far as I can tell, *is* Armadillo Auto Glass. When I called around 10am, he quoted me $170 before tax and said he could do the work this afternoon. He came to my place, arrived right at the beginning of the window when he said he'd be able to come, and he was professional, efficient and kept me updated on his progress. He didn't use a factory part (I didn't ask for one anyway), but he used a generic part from the same manufacturer, so it should be of comparable quality. Not only that, he was able to remove the door panel without scratching or gouging any of the plastic pieces (which is not easy on my car). And given that I paid less than half of what the dealership would have charged and he got it done less than 5 hours after I called, I don't have any reason to complain. read more

Greg really impressed me with his impeccable work and service. For $200 I received a beautiful new windshield for my '04 Matrix, complete with tinting and fritting. Convenient come-to-you service, and Greg was on time. Super clean install job, even taking the time to replace my registration and toll pass tags (they're even straighter than how they were placed on the old windshield). My rearview mirror was attached to the glass, and the replacement windshield came with a bracket on which Greg installed that same mirror. The job took about 35 minutes while I worked inside. I spent a total of 5 minutes outside at my car (greeting Greg & unlocking car + returning upon completion, inspecting & paying = 5 minutes). They've got to be the quickest glass replacement service ever. I live in Kyle, so they met me in the Home Depot parking lot @ I35 and Slaughter to replace my car windshield. Once they got started, my family and I went to the IHOP next door to have breakfast. We got in right away with no wait. We ordered our food and before the food even came I got a call saying they were done replacing my windshield. We're talking less than 30 minutes. And the price was very good. Super convenient, fast and high quality service. I called for a quote at 8am ($165 to replace the rear passenger window in an '08 Camry) and he was at my house by 10am. Removal and replacement of my broken window (separate retinting) took less than the 30 min that I was quoted, and he was working in the rain too! This guy deserves a beer, but he took off too soon! Yippee to Armadillo Auto Glass! This company replaced my front windshield back in 2008 (an 18-wheeler threw a rock and busted it) and I remembered the awesomeness of the service and price. This past week, some jerk(s) busted my passenger window with a brick. Greg remembered me from three years ago, met me at my office, and replaced the window within half an hour. He was also earlier than our initial appointment time AND he cleaned up all of the broken glass that was, seriously, all over the interior of my car. A side note: I got two estimates from other companies through my insurance agent and both estimates were over one hundred dollars more than what Greg charged! A rock hit my windshield the other day and pissed me off. It left a starburst just about dime size. I went to yelp to find a mobile windshield repairman. I looked for the best reviews. I first called Auto Glass Sol. on Burnet. I wasn't happy with their quote. They also wanted to charge me for mobile service. What? Really? Then I found Armadillo. I called and Greg answered. His quote was $5 under AG, and, he didn't charge for mobile service! We set up a appointment between 9 and 11 for the next morning. Greg showed up around 0840. He called and I told him I would be down to meet him in five minutes. Well, that five turned into 20. By the time I got to my truck, Greg was wrapping up! I was very impressed with his work and highly recommend him. He is a one man show that is truly mobile! His truck is the first mobile office I have seen. He has a printer in the back floorboard and the computer is in the front passenger seat. Safe to say he is the owner, boss, technician and secretary. Many hats for one individual. We called this guy to fix a broken car window and he was on point. Greg was super friendly and professional. He let me vent about how stupid the situation was and then proceeded to fix my window, which only took like 20-30 minutes. However, when I went to pay him, my card was declined. Totally my fault and I had to call my SO to come foot the bill. We had a rock hit our minivan windshield leaving a bulls eye and a long crack - about 8 inches long. It was way at the top on the passenger side - not really in the driver's field of vision. But, a crack this large had us worried about needing to replace the entire windshield. A lot of places want to replace windshields but we really wanted a repair. Armadillo was willing and able to repair the damage for us. The crack is still visible but it will not spread. We had a couple of other tiny rock dings that the tech filled in for us for no extra charge. They came the day after we talked to them at our prearranged time. They came to our house without charging any extra for that either. Awesome service, great price. Did exactly as promised and a little extra. I heartily recommend them. read more

Subaru Forester had a long windshield crack from something hitting it on the highway and I called Armadillo based on reviews here. I called pretty late in the day (about 5pm) Thursday and Friday and left messages. Greg got back to me Monday and we managed to stop the phone tag that afternoon. We set up a time for the following afternoon. Greg called to say he was on his way to my house, showed up on time and finished the windshield in style and pretty quickly. Tags transferred nicely. Still left me with the annoying problem of getting my window fixed. Searched for a place close to my work and came across Armadillo. Lots of ratings, 5 stars, must be good, right? And it was. Called this morning and talked to Greg who came out a couple of hours later. He gave me a two hour window of time he would be here and awesomely arrived much closer to the beginning of that window. About 30 minutes later my window was fixed. Greg was laid back but the job was handled in a totally pro way. And he drove to my office, so I didn't have to drop my car off and worry about getting a ride. As for price, it seemed completely fair. A bit lower than expected even. Well long story short I just moved to Austin and my car got broken into. I had to wait a month until I got paid from my new job to get it fixed and unfortunately payday was on a Friday. I spent a few days calling around and checking the internets for glass repair options after someone broke into my car. Some places never called me back or told me they couldn't fix it (door window for an Infiniti M45). One company told me they could have a replacement shipped in from Arizona within 2 weeks. Two weeks! Sure, I didn't expect anyone to have one just laying around, but that's just a lack of effort. I called Armadillo and told Greg what I needed. He checked around and called me back to report there was a window available in Ft. Worth that he could have shipped and installed the following day. That's more like it! When the truck from Ft. Worth unexpectedly broke down, Greg called to give me an update. He then came to my house on a Saturday morning to install the window once it arrived. He got there when he said he would, was finished when he said he would (in under 30 minutes), and he was friendly and helpful and cleaned up as well. He even figured out how to reset my automatic window controller when he was done. The install was good, fit and seal are great, and I'm happy. A rock hit my windshield and grew to a significant crack. I Yelped windshield repair in Austin and called the top 5. Out of all of them, Greg seemed the friendliest, most honest repairman, and spoke from experience. Just from my description over the phone, he correctly guessed where the crack had occurred. I have a Honda CRV and he got me THE OEM windshield that my car had leaving the factory. Total cost was around $200 and he came to my home, on-time, and switched out the glass within 2 hours. He also didn't try to take advantage of me with moldings, etc. like the other guys did. He knew that being a new car, only some of the molding needed to be replaced, as part some of the molding was designed to be reusable, clipping back on. Thanks for the good work. read more
