How have I not reviewed Tony? We first worked with him a few years ago because our bathroom plumbing kept backing up. It was disgusting, stressful and we were snaking the pipes every time this occurred as a temporary fix all the while hoping that it would work itself out. Well, it didn't and one day we had a real emergency because our temporary solution failed so I called Blue Dragon Plumbing based on their stellar reviews. I spoke with Gilbert who was booked out for awhile so he recommended Tony Vallejo. Tony was able to come to our house that evening (and it was late...like 10 or 11pm) and fixed the problem. The best Plumber I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My first experience with Tony was on a warranty call a few years ago. We had leak in our foundation, and the hot water line had to be re-routed through the attic. Tony spent two days working to get us hot water again, and even installed our water softener while he was on site, and solved the mystery of why we could never get hot water in our master bathroom sinks. I have called him since then to repair an in ground pipe that burst on Easter weekend, that no one else even wanted to come look at, and he was cheerful, even though there was much more digging than initial thought. I will not ever call another plumber. If Tony is not available, I would rather just do it myself or wait, than have to call somebody else, he is that good! Tony is simply the best. I called him because I had a sink that would drain properly. He came over and quickly resolved the issue and was fair with his price. A few weeks later my outdoor faucet started leaking and couldn't be stopped. Tony came over on a Saturday and fixed it right away. A few weeks after that (they come in 3's right?) my water heater started leaking. Tony did a great job and once again was fair on the price. I was referred to Tony when my go-to plumber, Gilbert at Blue Dragon, was booked solid and gave me Tony's number. I called him on a Sunday, and he came out the next day. He thought it would be a simple matter of snaking out the shower drain, which is what he quoted me for. When he actually started working, it turned out to be more involved because some old bolts were so rusted that he had to cut the plate off and replace it, which required several trips to hardware stores and auto shops to get parts. But despite all the time he spent, Tony stuck to his original estimate, which was already quite reasonable. You can't ask for much better service than that. read more

This review is long overdue, but I guess that means that I can testify to the work holding up well. Like some other reviews, I was also referred to Tony and Armadillo by Blue Dragon, who was also great. Since then we have hired Armadillo twice. First, he came out to replace our shower valves, one of which had sprung a leak. Not only did he do the repair, he referred me to someone to do the required tile work and repair the sheetrock damaged by the leak. We couldn't have been happier. Next, I called Tony back to fix some issues with our water heater recirculating system that hadn't consistently worked right since the install 15 years prior. All is fixed and now we have hot water, no many how many people are in the shower. As far as price, I didn't really shop around, but the quotes both seemed fair to me. Back in the spring we were looking to replace our two water heaters and found Tony by way of a recommendation and by looking at Yelp listings. He did such an excellent job that we called him to come back later when I wanted to upgrade our main shutoffs. The quality of work was outstanding in both cases, but what really stands out is that Tony is just a really nice, respectful guy. It wasn't just to us. I was really impressed with the way he treated the guy who helped him with the water heaters. Our heaters are in the attic of a 2-store house, so there was a lot of labor involved. Even so, every word from both of their mouths was of the highest level of respect to each other and to us. I developed a leak in the drain pipe from my washing machine inside the wall of my laundry room. I was referred to Tony by another plumber and I can't imagine the first guy could have been any better. I had some water woes in the form of a leaky toilet, and called Tony at Armadillo Plumbing at the suggestion of a trusted friend. I've used him for two jobs, now - aforementioned leaky toilet and to raise a super-low shower head - and both times, I was highly impressed at Tony's efficiency and what seemed to me like very fair pricing. He also arrived very promptly at the agreed-upon time - none of this "I'll arrive between 12-5" business with Tony - you know exactly when he'll be there and won't spend your day waiting around for him to arrive. He is also incredibly nice and I felt very comfortable with him; I didn't think twice about having him in the house working while I was home alone and wouldn't worry about leaving him in the house by himself if I had to step out for some reason. He is a Master Plumber, offers 24-hour emergency service, and carries insurance, too, so you know he is covered if anything were to go wrong. I needed a plumber to hook up a new faucet in my kitchen. I initially called Blue Dragon Plumbing based on reviews, but he was booked. He referred me to Tony at Armadillo plumbing. Tony was great! He called before he came over and arrived when on time. When he arrived he noticed that my new sink fittings would not work with my existing garbage disposal so he suggested that I run to Lowes and pick up a new one. He offered to get it himself but he said it would be cheaper for me if I went since he was on the clock. He offered to wait outside if I felt more comfortable but I did not want to waste his time or mine. I was skeptical leaving a stranger alone in my house but I felt that he was a good, honest man. When I returned he had already installed the faucet. He quickly installed the new disposal and replaced a few stinky old pipes. He tested everything and showed me how to operate the sensor on my new faucet. On his way out he took my old sink and faucet to dispose of it properly. He also took a few minutes to talk to me about replacing my water heater with a tankless and the issues I would have with the existing configuration of my house. Unlike some of the other big plumbing shops in town that I have used in the past, Tony does not fix one thing that causes a new problem, nor does he try to up-sell you. Tony did an over and above job for me recently. He was recommended by another plumber who gets great reviews in my neighborhood but was too busy to get to my job for a week. I figure its a great recommendation when a fellow professional recommends you. After checking Yelp, I tried Tony out. Tony is AMAZING. He made sure that I was aware that once he saw my water heater, as a professional licensed by the City he would need to fix it up to code. I really appreciated the heads-up and decided to proceed. Then, using pictures I texted him, he predicted I would need to fix the roof to provide venting up to code. We discussed DIY to keep my cost down, and then when I asked for options, he offered to get a bid from a roofer he works with. Basically, within a few days, I had my new water heater and everything up to code, all well within the cost estimated for me ahead of tim eby Tony. After the job was complete, Tony told me I had a year to get it inspected by the City. Since I wanted it checked off, he went ahead and arranged it with the City, giving me tips on the best strategy to minimize my time sitting waiting for the inspector. In addition, he gave us the option to buy the water heater ourselves to save $, but when it didn't fit in our car, he was willing to pick it up himself. The inspector told me it was a great job, that "most guys miss this part" about one of the aspects. From my unprofessional view, it all looks very professional and fantastic and I feel so happy to have checked this off. Anyway, this is what you want for a plumber...up front about potential cost risks, sticking within the budget provided, providing other services (roofer and pick-up) that were needed, timely, responsive and courteous.
