I was told $65 for the service call but that would be rolled into the bill should I go with them for the repair. He (Avi) arrived as scheduled and went straight to work. I already had the back panel off and the refrigerator clean and pulled out ready for work. It took him close to an hour but he got it up and running by adding a part that got my compressor going. He was very nice and helpful. However, at the end of the service he couldn't give me an invoice and charged me $350. Not sure what the cost breakdown is but it seemed a little high but I couldn't have fixed it myself so my ignorance cost me. But hey, it is cheaper than a new refrigerator.

Nevertheless, it cost $140. How much did Yost pay for it? Its installation--in under thirty minutes--cost $155. Was that the labor rate? No, for Yost charges by the job, not by the hour. Would I pay $155 for a job lasting an hour, then? Yost answered that, no, I would pay about double for it! The owner couldn't fathom that that discrepancy is indicative of a labor charge.
