What the heck! $170 not to fix broken appliance! I'm all for supporting local biz, so I called them instead of sending into Meile, assured that the Repair man would have the parts and be able to fix it. Well no. No parts, he didn't know what was wrong, and wanted to take it with him. I said ok, but then when I realized that the clock would start all over again with his hourly rate on top of the 170 on top of any parts that needed to be repaired, I asked for it back They didn't do a thing except come to my house pick it up and drop it back. We had a Miele dishwasher making beeping sounds. Alan came out and diagnosed it as a wash pump issue. After he replaced it (under warranty) the issues went away. He was on time both trips and very professional. His wife was a pleasure with the scheduling. read more

Alan has serviced my Miele appliances for more than 20 years. I know I can trust his judgment as to a needed repair, and more recently, the need to replace my 24 year old Miele washing machine. His wife, Rene, handles service requests & will take the time to do an exhaustive search to locate hard-to-find parts so the customer has confidence knowing all avenues were pursued and "no stone was left unturned" before declaring an appliance unfixable. They are an excellent team and very responsive to customer needs, questions and recommendations. **BUYER BEWARE** We had a washer that needed attention and had heard that this was the most reasonable place and did good work. After waiting 9 days for someone to come out Alan spent 4 minutes total and said they would call back with an estimate. They called back and said that it would cost $326 parts and labor. I was in shock and couldn't believe the estimate to replace the board, it only made sense to get a new washer. Now a week later I get a bill for his time. Mind you they never mentioned or said anything when they were here about a Service Fee. I called and was told that this is the cost of them doing business and that they are barely making it. I should have been told right up front about the fee, I am a senior on a fixed income and $89 to tell me what it would cost to fix is unacceptable. I called Mission Appliance after 2 service calls from another company. The other company initially blamed the manufacturer, then blamed me for the problem with my freezer. Renee scheduled quickly. Alan, not only did a great job, but explained to me step-by-step as he worked. I really appreciated that I was spoken to with respect after the previous experience. The garbage disposal that I assumed needed to be replaced, was a quick fix with the push of a button. Alan was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. We recently had a burner go out on our stove and called Alan (who've we worked with before) out to take a look. After looking at the stove for 2 minutes (tops), he then told my wife it can't be fixed and just light the burner from now on with a lighter. He left the house and left us seeking for someone that could get the job done. It gets better...a couple weeks later they had the audacity to send a bill for his time. I was shocked! I too own a local service business and it would be unfathomable for us to charge a recurring customer (or, any customer) for this type of advice/service. I called to question the bill, but Renee wasn't having it. I mentioned to her that I had to bring this to their attention and it must be an oversight. She was very clear that it wasn't and the bill had to be paid. I then said, out of principal, I wasn't happy paying the bill and if I do it would be the last check I write to them. Buyer Beware. We own a number of rentals in Santa Barbara, and called Mission Appliance because our usual tech was out of town. Alan knew what he was doing, but $400 for 2 hours of labor is too much, so we'll stay with our usual guy. Get a firm price before using Mission. read more

Not happy with Alan. I have tried to use them twice!! You would think they would want the business in these economic times. The first time he took so long to respond that I had to get another repair person. The next time they refused to help us and are apparently holding a grudge for 2 years. Really?? A little advice to Alan forgive and forget, move on, don't act like a baby....you get what you deserve in this life so put out that good energy and it will come back 10 fold. read more

Pay NO attention to the negative review below! That customer obviously is not familar with the quality of Alan's work or the integrity of Alan himself!! I've been doing business with MIssion Appliance since the late 90's (Alan is the sole owner and sole technician) and I can tell you I've never had the pleasure of working with someone so reliable so integrible and so experienced as Alan himself. As a property manager of 20 apt units, I depend on someone to make a diagnosis quickly, efficiently and repair it at a reasonable price!! Alan's the man--he knows his stuff and I can honestly tell you that he's never met an appliance he couldn't fix! He's worked on my refrigerators, washers/dryers, ovens, dishwashers---he services all the major brands (which in my opinion makes him a one-stop appliance repair shop!) Besides the fact that he's one hell of a nice guy, I love Alan's work and would never take my business anywhere else--Trust me on this folks, I let the guy in my home even when I'm not there...if that's not trustworthy, then I don't know what is!
