a burger and onion rings
Brad C.

After multiple people telling us that we had to try Armando's burgers we decided to swing by. The decor is clearly dated. I don't think they've done any remodeling since the late 70's. It felt quaint. The menus at the table were sticky which is never comforting. I ordered the Pimento Cheese Burger with a side of onion rings and my wife had the Mushroom and Swiss burger with a side of fries. The burgers don't come with any sides, they are extra. The burgers themselves were both very good, appeared fresh and hand-pattied. Unfortunately the mushrooms looked and tasted canned on my wife's burger and the "Swiss cheese" had the shiny look typically seen on cheese-food products with the same taste and consistency. The pimento cheese on mine was flavorless and I'm guessing it's not made in the restaurant. It was disappointing that such good burgers were dressed with lower quality accouterments. The onion rings were hand breaded and pretty good. A large order only had 7 in it. The french fries were average. It was not a bad meal for $15 but not sure we'll be back based on the overall taste and experience.

Large onion rings. Way over cooked.

I ordered through a delivery service. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings. There was only an option for "large" order of onion rings. As you can see from the pic, there was maybe 5 or 6 onion rings. That's not a large size order in my opinion. Also, they were very overcooked, just about burnt. The cheeseburger was pretty good. The patty was pretty thick and it was tasty. Done medium well. Could have used a bit of seasoning on the patty though. Overall, it was good, though I wouldn't order the onion rings again.

Best Hamburger and Chattanooga. I have been to many Hamburger spots around town, and they are absolutely the best and fresh.

Yes, it's a burger joint, but they do it well and at a great price. They also have other sandwiches, salads and vegetable plates.

Fortunately, after 6pm it's both free and easy to find nearby. As a solo diner I was initially relegated to the bar but, I don't drink so I asked for a quieter table and within 5 minutes they accommodated me with a seat by the windows upstairs. The inside is gorgeous and they have a nice patio as well. Beautiful and low-key but elegant decor. Service was excellent and extremely proficient. Never had to ask twice for something and easily able to answer menu questions and make suggestions. I actually hadn't planned on ordering the Fattoush but, when I said I loved tomatoes it was recommended and I am so glad it was. It was a standout. In the end I ordered 3 things bc I was dining solo: -Hummus with crudité (veggies instead of bread) -Fattoush - seasonal ingredients. -Red Snapper - about 3oz so small portion but perfectly cooked and flavored. Loved this. I very much wanted the knafeh dessert but I knew the portion was big and didn't want to be miserable and waste it. They have a nice non-alcoholic menu with some interesting drinks as well. Overall - perfect final meal in town and I can't wait to come back with my husband and try even more!

Calliope is upscale business casual, which we were definitely not wearing, but we were treated kindly and we decided to dine at the bar which was an excellent choice .bartender server was excellent and really knew the menu and preparation! She guided us to the chicken schwarma hummus with fresh pita, whole Mediterranean Sea bass, spiced baby potatoes and tiramisu. Excellent guidance. We enjoyed every tasty bite! We paired with Armenian and Greek wine. Had Lebanese whiskey for afterwards. What a delightful and satisfying experience. We appreciate quality and craftsmanship of their food and wine. We will tell our friends who visit about this gem of Chattanooga! We will return.

Not far from where we were parked we found the Wooden City conveniently across from it all (dare I say a brisk walk's worth) with Mellow Mushroom and Ben & Jerry's establishments at both corners. We were given the options of staying inside or being placed outside and we chose (biased a lil) the opportunity of eating outside. We were taken care of accordingly by Jonathan, who is a perfect example of someone that makes tourism worth it, we chitchatted back-and-forth and came across some great options on our appetizers and drinks. While we waited for drinks, we were served water with ice as the weather outside was pleasant but a little too hot for the afternoon... When the appetizers arrived, we were greeted by not only demonstration, but taste above what I've had as of recent. Wife enjoyed the freshness of the tomatoes and cheese whilst I was mesmerized by how subtle and uber smooth my Old Fashioned was. We unwinded and talked about our day here in this city and then our next meal plates arrived. I had the very unique and well presented Beet Ravioli and the wife had the exquisite Spicy Lamb Rigatoni. Immediate upon arrival to our table my wife and I exchanged a bite of each other's plates to give a chance for our taste pallets to experience one another. The Beet Ravioli took back my wife to a time where she made something of similar taste and the Rigatoni took me back to California when I tasted something familiar then. Towards the end, I saved the location at the name of the restaurant, as I would like a near future to come back and visit with more time. Jonathan was an absolute help for our satisfaction in Chattanooga and we are thankful.

Fairly busy but seated right away, brought water instantly and quickly took our drink order. Modelo (served with lime like it should be but is not always) and TROPICALIA IPA which was delicious. Their glasses are etched nicely but they come with drink coozies. I wanted to buy and at end of lunch waitress said we could keep if we wanted. Now the food: DELICIOUS. My husband ordered ahi tuna bowl and it was fresh, great veggies and ahi was great. I had the chicken po boy with confusion potatoes. The seasoning on potatoes was so excellent we bought a bottle of the seasoning. (And one is on every table for use in case you want more). Their glasses baguette was fresh and chunky with yummiest sauce. Chicken was juicy and seasoned perfect. But the best sort was put altogether with the cucumbers, lettuce and tomato...it was a hot sandwich that was refreshing and not too filling on a blazing hot day. The service was fantastic and fun vibe. I would definitely come again and again.

A lot of the seating here is outdoors, which I liked and there is also a large indoor bar area. Parking was tough as this is in the entertainment district and it was a Friday night. We were seated at an outdoor low table as they had high tops as well. Our server was with us quickly, but then disappeared for awhile. She was good at suggestions and knew the menu. We got the Mexican Ceviche to start as it had shrimp. It took a long time to come out, but was so good and worth the wait. The cojita cheese was unique and went well with the dish. We also didn't have enough chips, but htey brought us more free of charge to polish off the rest of the ceviche with. For my entree, I got the Parilla steak and shrimp and it was a large portion. The sauce was amazing and the potato crisps were a nice touch. It took some time to pay as well as that was the theme of the night, I think they were understaffed, but otherwise a great experience.

The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. The ambience is super nice and fresh, and our server was so sweet and engaging. The hostess as well. Everybody there was so nice and welcoming. They validate parking if you park in the garage nearby!

The team was incredibly welcoming and shared that they're part of the same restaurant group behind Easy Bistro and Little Coyote, which immediately raised my expectations--and they delivered. The combination of savory meats, tangy mustard, and the bright kick from the giardiniera created the perfect balance of flavors.
