Another review said this place is "sketchy" looking... good. That's exactly what I was looking for. A local hole in the wall, with good tasting Mexican food. And bonus points for being inside of an old Taco Bell. I actually love that. It was a real experience with its dimly lit, sketchy parking lot, and a gang of bebe's kids running around the patio area being all loud. It didn't matter to me. It added to the ambiance of having legit taco shop food. The guy working at front ordering area was polite and friendly. He asked if I wanted "everything" in my burrito I said yes, but then I said wait "what's everything" and I thought I knew but he said Carne Asada, cheese, french fries, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. So I definitely said yes to all of that. Usually most taco shops won't put guacamole unless you pay extra . That said, this burrito was $13.99 and that's kinda high so I figure the guacamole is factored into that price, but the burrito was huge so it was worth it. It was jampacked with meat and the other items. I only ate half of it, and I'll finish the rest tomorrow. When I arrived, there was no one here. Parking lot was empty so it felt a little like "Oh no, should I eat here" and then the bebe's kids were running around but by the time I left the parking lot was full & restaurant ordering area also full. At least three customers came through to pick up food while I was in there eating half of my burrito-- so the place is solid. Very tasty and really fast. I didn't wait but a few minutes. And they asked how many salsas I wanted I said 5, red and green. The dude laughed but then put 5 of both in the bag. I laughed and gave him back half of them, telling him I meant 5 total, mix of green & red. He was about to give me 10 sauces. Some places are way stingy about that, he thought I was crazy but gave them to me anyway lol. It was humorous. I'm glad I came here. **The only thing I really didn't like is that there was an extra charge because I paid for credit card and they don't really say that they're gonna do that. I just saw it on the card reader machine but I didn't have enough cash, so I just paid it anyway.

Solid hole in the wall for Mexican food between Orange County and San Diego. To be honest the place feels kind of sketch due to the surrounding areas but it's not too bad. Decent amount of parking. Good service. We got the carne asada burrito which was full of flavor and a hefty size. We also got the stuffed peppers which was surprisingly good as well. We would definitely come back when traveling to and from San Diego.

Got the Supreme Breakfast burrito and it had way too much potato and very little egg. It was good but wish it would've had more egg and less potato.

San Diego Mexican foods is the best. I must say, this one broke da mouth. Best one yet but next time I'll ask for extra cheese!

This review was from 6/19/24 We are not from the area and went to San Diego on the way back we stopped at Armando's. It was off the freeway. I looked on Yelp and I saw there was good reviews. So we thought it was going to be a great place to stop and eat. The menu looked great and we were hungry and ordered 6 meals and 6 drinks. So we did spend a good amount. I don't know if the cook was off or the food just wasn't as good. We took a few bites and it was horrible. The bean and cheese burrito and cheese quesadilla the cheese wasn't even melted. 2 of us got the Fish Taco plate, the fish was over cooked in oil that seemed to be there all day and it was so dry. The tortillas were dry and hard as well. To where we didn't even want to take another bite. The Cheese enchiladas plates were better but the cheese was not melted inside like it should be just the outside. The horchata was good, it was sweet. The rice that came with some meals was dry. I went to the counter with the food and asked for our money back. I felt bad returning all our food but it was that bad. The guy was sorry and offered to have them remake it. But it killed it already for us that I kindly declined. I thanked him for offering. Hopefully it was just an off night of they just recently hired a new cook.

First time stopped by early in the morning to head out for a long drive and was craving a breakfast burrito. Nothing fancy or crazy just straight to the point kind of place. There are a couple seats inside and the menu has many many options. It looks like the regulars call in because during the 10 minutes I was there, a number of people walked in to pick up their orders. Prices are probably $1-$2 more than surrounding spots but the food was great. - Normal breakfast burrito - very flavorful and filling - Chorizo breakfast burrito - very flavorful and filling Something to keep in mind - Green salsa was delicious! - The burrito are potato heavy - which I did not mind but not everyone might like that

This place is solid Mexican. It's neither the best nor the worst I've had, hence the rating. The shrimp are decent and the carne is ok. I got surf n turf burrito no pico and an order of carne fries. No drink or anything. I gave her $100 and got back $71. So that's about $13 each. The fries were worth it, 3.5/5. The burrito is ok but on the small side. About a 3/5 for the burrito. Everything about this place is as such. Middle of the road. In the land of mexicali, San Diego, this place is an overall "meh." You won't be disappointed but won't be stoked either. The server spoke to me in Spanish despite me being a gringo, so I'd say service was a 4/5. She wasn't particularly friendly nor did she smile but she was prompt, accurate, and effective. That's kind of this place in summary- quick service, reliable and accurate, but not stellar. The crema (sour cream) is authentically Mexican and the guac is real avocado. 3/5 stars for an honest but real review from a reviewer who is neither unduly critical nor easily impressed.

The food wasn't that good, it lacked taste and overall Mexican cuisine. My family and will not be going back there anytime soon.

They have the best molcajete and fajitas around, at the best prices. We are here just to see if Cocina Del Mar is better. Long story short: it's not. However, their ceviche is AMAZING. Best ceviche I have had in north county San Diego outside of Dija Mara (which has the best ceviche in the known universe). It is extremely fresh and not overpowered by acidity, fishy smells or rubbery shrimp. The ceviche here is legit. Great. AND ONLY $10 (for cameron). If you order anything here, get the ceviche first. I'm anxious to try their aguachile now. We also ordered the fajitas ("suprema" with chicken, steak and shrimp). Fajitas did not come out sizzling at all. I have never seen this before. Also, there were only two shrimp. The steak/carne was bland and dry. Not great. Wife ordered the Sopes (3) and mother ordered the Enchiladas Cameron. The sopes were okay, but a bit bland. Wife had to salt everything on the plate. The enchiladas had a sauce my mom said was too sweet. She wasn't a fan. For all three dishes to be a miss is completely strange considering the sheer number of 5-star reviews. I want to believe. We must have come on an off-day, but the place was busy. Quite a few larger parties were here, so this place is popular with the natives. We also grabbed a Model and a Corona. Only $5 for the beers! Total for everything came to $117.64 (with tip). I would absolutely come back for the ceviche and to give them another shot by trying a different dish. I snapped pics of the menu so you can see the latest prices. Check it out.

I didn't realize they were closing soon and wouldn't have minded to have our food to go. However, the employee who took our order treated us rudely and we didn't feel welcome. Still gave them the benefit of the doubt and tipped 20%. When we got home, my sister found a hair in her mouth from inside the food, which grossed us both out. The guy that was helping her at the register stopped midway to fiddle with his hairnet and take it off. Our food was served cold and strange smelling. As a Cali Native now living in…read morethe great state of Texas, sometimes it's refreshing to step outside the land of Tex‑Mex and get the real deal again. Colima's hits that spot every single time. When you walk in, the person behind the counter greets you immediately -- and not the dry "hi, what can I get you?" type of greeting. You get a full "¡Buenos días, mija!" with that warm, almost‑grito energy that makes you feel like you just walked into your tío's spot instead of a restaurant. Super friendly, super natural, and very SoCal. I ordered the rolled tacos plate and wow... esa porción estaba gigante. I couldn't finish it. What I loved most was the meat; this is what meat is supposed to taste like. The beef was seasoned the way we grew up eating it: a little salty, a little savory, with that slow‑cooked tenderness that lets you know it didn't come from some pre‑bagged, mystery‑meat situation. You get hints of garlic, a little cumin, and that warm, almost toasty flavor that comes from meat that's actually been browned, not steamed. It tasted like someone's abuela was in the back saying, "No, no, déjalo dorar un poquito más. And the corn tortillas? Perfect. Thin enough to get that crisp roll, thick enough not to shatter. None of that flour‑tortilla‑trying‑to‑be‑crispy nonsense. These were crunchy, flavorful, and loaded. The toppings were just as good. The guacamole tasted fresh. You could taste the real avocado which was creamy, a little chunky, with lime that actually tasted like lime and not concentrate. The red salsa had a legit kick to it. It had hints of roasted chiles, was smoky and had a slightly bitter edge that tells you they actually roasted them instead of just tossing raw peppers into a blender. It wasn't tourist spicy; it was SoCal Mexican‑restaurant spicy, which is a whole different category. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito and honestly? That thing could've fed three people. It was massive, stuffed to the brim with cheese, egg, potatoes, and fresh bacon and exactly what a SoCal breakfast burrito should be: simple, hearty, and no shortcuts. Between the portions, the flavor, and the service that feels like home, this spot stays on my list every time I'm in Oceanside. If you're craving real Mexican food and not Tex‑Mex, pull up. You'll leave full and happy. #supportlocal
