The space itself is comfy and bright. It is not very large, but it is perfect for a quick bite to eat. We ended up ordering the carne asada torta combo and the chorizo torta combo. The combos came with fries and a small salad, and for drinks we got a horchata and the cucumber lime agua fresca. When our food came out, it looked so delicious and you could tell everything was freshly made. The tortas were packed! It oozed so much deliciousness - carne asada (chorizo), cheese, avocado lettuce, tomatoes, onion, chipotle sauce and bean spread. It was a messy sandwich which is the best kind! Overall they were extremely tasty and very satisfying. The fries were thinly cut and also very good. The salad was just simple lettuce and tomatoes, so I probably would not order the salad again. The horchata was good, but I especially enjoyed the cucumber lime drink the most. A "torta" is a Mexican sandwich, noted for its crusty white sandwich roll and overstuffed ingredients. Introducing Torta Time. I first heard about this gem in 2025 when they first opened. They are a small, family owned sandwich shop that is located off of Mission Avenu off of the 76 in Oceanside California. I had a great experience enjoying the Milanesa Bistek & the Breakfast Chorizo Torta. Although the inside is rather small, it is kind of cozy and great for a quick bite. But it is not a place I would go with a large group. I appreciate that they have free Wi-Fi and a clean bathroom. For being a sandwich shop, they have a pretty sizable menu. The service is fast and friendly, and it typically is not crowded if dining in. I love that they get their bread, especially made locally for them and that is especially important for their sandwiches flavor. The portion size is actually perfect for me and it is stuffed with whatever protein or flavor you desire. I especially love the flavor of my breakfast chorizo Torta. I can also appreciate that they use family recipes within their menu and also have a creamy pineapple Jell-O, which was very delicious as dessert. The torta tasted fresh (personal preference for me, but I needed more seasoning), and the fries were delicious (because you can mess up fries, lol). I understand there was only one cook working, and I appreciate how difficult that can be, but we waited over an hour for our food, which is simply too long. Because of the wait, our meals arrived warm instead of hot, and not all of the food came out at the same time. I was excited to try this locally owned business. I've only ever had maybe 1 or 2 tortas before so I'm no expert, but I went in with an open mind. I called my order in over the phone after reviewing the menu online and selecting the chorizo torta because it sounded tasty and $12 was as much as I felt comfortable spending for a torta from a place I'd never tried. I'd seen online they all come with american cheese, so when the man on the phone asked me what kind of cheese I wanted I was caught off guard. Again I'm no expert on tortas, so I asked "what do you recommend" and he said queso fresco. Sounded good to me, so I said ok. He said "ok, thank you". I waited to see if he'd give a timeframe or a total, but he stayed silent so I just said "see you soon!" When I went in, that same man presented me with my food, his demeanor was kind and friendly. But then he read me my total of $14.61 and I was visibly confused. I said "can I see the order?" He wasnt sure what I meant. I pointed to the menu board and said "its $12 right?" He was then was also confused til he remembered the queso fresco is $1.50 more. I was like "oh, wow! I didn't know that, I wouldn't have agreed to it" and he basically just said "yeah, its more". I stood for sec, not sure what to do because I was unhappy I was paying so much more without that having been made clear to me. I was kind of waiting to see if he'd offer to remove the charge, since the way he asked me on the phone made it seem like I had an option for cheese, not that I was being upcharged. But he just stood there and re-explained thats why it more again. I eventually just decided to just pay and then *right after* I'd tapped my card he asked if I wanted him to adjust it, but I just said "uhh its fine" and took my food and left. It kinda seemed weird that'd he'd waiting til I was paying to make that offer. I held out hope that maybe it would at least be amazing, but for the price, it was just ok. To be honest, I couldnt even taste the queso fresco over the chorizo, it has too mild of a taste in comparison to the chorizo's very strong flavor. The bread was really good! My favorite part actually. And the veggies were fresh. The chorizo was just ok in my opinion, and I could only eat half before the flavor was too overwhelming. That could just be me though. Overall, it could be a great spot if you love tortas, as the quality of the food seemed good! If they had a more simple, less expensive option, I'd probably keep it open as a viable lunch option. But based on the prices and my personal enjoyment of tortas, I dont think I'll be running back anytime soon. I do wish them the best of luck though. I provided this review in hopes that they practice clearer communication with their guests, as setting and managing guest expectations is so very important. read more

This was an score average out of two different visits (if I could give a 4.5 I would) our first visit was on a Saturday there was a very nice gentleman taking our order and giving suggestions on what we should try. Now on to our second visit a Sunday, albeit a little busier than our previous visit with most tables occupied and much different customer service than our previous visit. The young lady was very quiet no smile no welcome in which hey we all have our off days! She took our order and that was it. We sat and waited at the table right next to the register. There was another couple and allegedly the man had received the incorrect order, there was a bit of back and forth which again, I understand sometimes customers are jerks but you have to choose your battles. The conversation ended with both the cashier and the customer blaming each other and a blunt "well that's on you" from the both of them. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, we got our food and headed out. Since my last experience had been fantastic I had ordered the torta de chilaquil again and when I got home unfortunately that's not what I had gotten but instead the plate of chilaquiles. This place is new and peaked my interest, a spot dedicated to tortas, simple concept. After reading the online menu and came in to try the turkey and cheese torta. Now I wasn't sure if it was slices of turkey breast or turkey ham that would be on the torta. With that in mind I was expecting a pretty meaty filling torta like the others pictured. There might have been a picture of the turkey and ham and I overlooked it, but when I received my torta it did lower my expectation a bit as I'm usually a foodie that feasts with their eyes , but never judge a book by its cover! It was nicely plated and with a delicious cucumber lime agua fresca and the flaming hot funyuns I got with the combo made it a tempting meal. The torta was slices of Turkey ham , but that being said it's a torta I'm all too familiar with, the ones we get made from momma's kitchen with love when you first worked your construction gig, it made me reminisce on the good ole times of a classic meal, torta de hamon. I felt like Anton Ego from ratatouille when I took that first bite, very critical on how it's quite simple and plain, but the flavor it delivered with the filling of beans with aguacate and the hamon and queso with tomato and lil lettuce slice with the grilled onions meshed beautifully with their chipotle sauce which I highly recommend putting on. And the Chiles en vinagre (pickled jalapeño), made this a nostalgic meal to enjoy on my Saturday afternoon. If they had the pickled carrots on it, it would've been the complete trip down memory lane.
