This is middling pizza. I can't speak for the deep dish, but the traditional crust is barely a step up from a grocery store frozen pizza. Can I tell you how long it's been since I went to Armand's pizza? Well, it's been a long time but they picked up from where they left off...fantastic! Friends invited us to stay over in Bethany Beach for the weekend for some relaxation. The minute that I saw Armand's I said "we gotta go there so for lunch." we went and to our sheer surprise and delight, all the appetizers were 50% off. I guess that's due to it being slow season and businesses are trying to stay open. We started with the Greek salad and Old Bay wings. Both were delicious with the Greek salad coming with that wonderful Greek salad dressing, and the Old Bay wings, giving the wonderful authentic Maryland taste. If you know Armand's, you know that they're famous for their deep dish pizza. Granted, they did have the traditional thin crust, but who's gonna get that, when you can get that? We made it easy on ourselves and got a pizza that had pretty much everything on it - Onions, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms and pepperoni. The four of us shared one pizza and can I just tell you we had four slices left over. Suffice to say, it was huge and very filling. We boxed it up and had it for dinner that evening with salad - two meals in one! The only reason I gave 1 star was because the pizzas were ready as we arrived. The downside is the pizzas were terrible. Deep Dish was not cooked and cheese was not melted and sauce was was uncooked. We also ordered A XL pizza which looked and tasted like one you would buy in the frozen food aisle at Giant. A total waste of $50 last night. Food is overpriced and of poor quality. Armands has the best food and service of any restaurant around. Their subs are huge and full of flavor. The homemade meatballs and Italian sausage are both delicious. The have fresh rolls for subs, their garlic bread is fantastic too. Delicious, fresh salads too. Delicious ranch dressing too. My absolute favorite place to eat in Bethany beach. Everytime I come here the staff is absolutely wonderful and the food is absolutely delicious. My favorite is by far the spaghetti. I have no idea how they manage to make the sauce so great, but it is. Today, the sauce was a little spicy but it was still so wonderful. The staff here is always so friendly as well. The bread is also to die for. My family and I smash at least 5 baskets everytime we come here. Saturdays are half off pastas and Sundays are half off pizzas so there is always a good deal going. The service was friendly but very slow, even though the 6 of us were the only ones indoors. It was a beautiful day and everyone was outside. We ordered cheese fries and when they came, I picked up one and the cheese sauce (Cheez Wiz) was cold to the touch. We called the manager over and asked why the cheese was so cold on top--we paid $5 extra for it! He said that is the way it is always made and that they could not put the fries back in the oven to warm up the "cheese sauce" on top. We sent them back, after which they asked three times if we wanted another order without cheese sauce on it. By then, our pizza was ready, which was undercooked and could have been much hotter. One of us got a burger and onion rings, which were delicious and why I gave 2 stars instead of one. Unfortunately, that one item was the deep dish pizza. The dough was not cooked/crispy enough. I read another review here and it was cooked more than that but still missed the mark. If it was only the dough I could have given a pass, but it was also the lack of sauce on the pizza. Because everything else was good, I gave this place a 4 instead of a 3 since this is a pizza place after all. read more
