Tucked along the Bethany boardwalk, came to celebrate a birthday. Ordered some crab dip and octopus to share to start. The crab dip was full of lump crab and paired well with the cracker. Wish there was more octopus in the other starter but had good antipasto like flavors. I got the double cut pork chop as my main and enjoyed. It was cooked well and I liked the balsamic on the plate, however I do wish it had some sauce to pair with. The potatoes were great and a crowd pleaser. Drinks were solid. The pear martini was fresh and sweet. Shirley temple was standard but could've been fizzier in my opinion. We split 4 desserts amongst us: key lime pie, honey cake, flourless chocolate cake, and a peach crumb cake. The honey cake is unique and had a great moist yet spongy texture. The pie was a runner up, we liked the tartness and thick crust. We do wish our server paid more attention to us especially in the beginning. We weren't offered any bread and felt like the wait for food was very long. Other tables who arrived after us had already got their entrees and desserts while we were still waiting for mains. He also didn't check up on us like he did with the surrounding tables. The young bus boy however was great and kindly helped us in between. read more

Delish! We came on a windy, rainy Friday and were easily accommodated for a small table for two in their back by the kitchen. A charming, bar seating area greets you when you enter but there are two more dining rooms as you walk back to the back. It's much larger than it appears at first. Our service was wonderful. Prompt and professional and just enough attention to detail. We split a wedge salad, fisherman's stew and the salmon with carrot and coconut cream. The salmon was delicious but the carrot and coconut purée was pungent and didn't love it. My husband really loved his fisherman's stew. It was loaded with fresh clams, scallops, oysters and shrimp and was a broth based soup (not cream) so was lighter and came with toast points. Dessert was a delicious flourless chocolate hazelnut torte which was decadent and wonderful. All in all - loved the ambiance and great service and food was good. Would absolutely come back. We settled in and started with drinks: my mother's crisp Rosé, my Pineapple Martini made with house-infused pineapple vodka (tropical, bright, not cloying), and my father--ever the simple one--content with an ice-cold Heineken. Warm bread and butter arrived first, the kind that smells like a hug. Then a Tomato & Peach Caprese that vanished on contact: grill-kissed peaches, sun-sweet heirloom tomatoes, pillowy burrata, a balsamic shimmer, EVOO, and basil. My father's clam chowder wasn't the classic New England style--and all the better for it: silky, savory, and distinctly their own. We went all in on a 55oz Bone-In Tomahawk, medium-rare. The crust crackled, the center blushed, and every slice was velvet. Grilled shrimp brought sweet brine and a whisper of char; green beans snapped with freshness; and the mashed potatoes were scandalously creamy. Two sauces--an herb-bright chimichurri and a glossy cabernet reduction--let us toggle between zing and depth like a perfect playlist. One of the best meals we've had in Bethany Beach, full stop. I was so excited to be going to the Parkway. But it fell very short of my expectations. Over priced. Under whelming and poor service. I'm still scratching my head. Salmon way over cooked. The chef should never had let it leave his kitchen. The crab cakes were sad. Flavorless. I can't speak on the soup appetizers and salads. My table mates were not impressed. We sat at the bar for dinner last night and it was a great experience. The owner was our bartender. We started with the clam chowder which was delicious. It is not your traditional clam chowder - It had a heavy garlic flavor (which we loved). We got the wedge salad and a filet for dinner. I forgot to take a picture of the filet but it was delicious and cooked perfectly!!! I highly recommend this place. It's sort of a hole in the wall place but it's a great find. read more

Friendly service across the board from the chefs, cooks, servers, bartenders and hostess. I was greeted and attended to by the entire staff. Whoever hires, does a great job. The food is pricey for what they serve but it is delicious. I'm a little spoiled spending time in California so their beach food is clean, light and tasty. The fries were good. $12 The salad was over dressed, so soggy but, it tasted good. For the price, it could have been elevated and dressed with less dressing. I would have added more of all the ingredients. I think it was $17 dollars for the salad. I would have paid $12-$14. The pork chop was delicious, with a peach pure. The green beans it came with cooked perfectly. That was $41. Overall, I think the price factored in ambience and service which was really nice. I got our food to go and was just really happy they served me as most places were closed early for the holiday and they allowed me to take it to go. No pics, sorry, I was in a hurry. read more

I have been coming to Bethany Beach for 50 years, so I know the area and the restaurants. Last night my sister and her husband invited me out to the Parkway. They go there a lot and I see why! Tudor and Vica bought the reataurant in 2021. They are experinced restaunteers, and I am not surprised that they have not only upheld the quality but have added their own touch. In fact we were lucky enough to have Tudor as our server at the bar!! We stated with drinks. He made me my favority martini, a botanical, and my sister a cosmo. Both perfect. My brother in law had a seafood soup, either clam or crab, cant recall, tomato based. It was in a large bowl and delicious. I had the baked oysters with crab imperial on top. Unbelievable. My sister had the steak carpaccio which she loved. DInner was exquisite. We had the seafood capallini, the rib eye and the filet mignon. Cooked perfectly. The potatoes were so good!! And a fantastic bottle of wine! Luckily, there was enough for me to bring home, and I am so looking forward to it today! Dont pass up on this wonderful restuarant! read more

If you're looking for a place where the food is amazing, the service is like you remember it was in your favorite family Italian place, look no further than The Parkway. Our first time in Bethany Beach and we found this by accident. We were setup at a hotel restaurant but then I checked the reviews last minute to find out it sucked. So into yelp I go and we found The Parkway. We were greeted right away like family, introduced to Jane the server who knew everyone by first name, and we clearly knew instantly this was the locals place to eat despite being in the middle of the action. My wife had the sea bass which was perfection. I had the octopus, salad, and lamb chops, all cooked like I was back in Italy. We thought of dining somewhere else the next night but said, why? We went back for another dinner. Same result... perfection. Very cozy, gets crowded so come early. Drinks are also very generous. Enjoy. read more

Giving this restaurant 2 stars for the bartenders who are professional and friendly, thank you. However on our 3rd visit to the restaurant we were treated so poorly by the hostess Jackie that I've waited 2 weeks before posting a review. She is nasty and so unprofessional I'm not sure why she's employed as a hostess, which is where an otherwise lovely evening went downhill. She abruptly asked who we were, I answered telling her we had a 6:45 res, she grabbed 2 menus, dropped them on to a table pushed up against the wall at a busy entrance way in and out of the second dining area with what was a spare chair directly behind the one at the table. Needless to say you could not pull out the chair to sit. I immediately called to her as she walked away and completely ignored me. When I went back to the hostess stand she was absolutely not willing to move us to at least 3 different available tables or possibly seat us in the bar area, ( which by the way you can't just come in for a drink, you need a res there too or "permission" to sit). We did something we've never done before and seated ourselves at a different table. At the end of a very unpleasant visit I approached her to express my dissatisfaction respectfully. She was not receptive which did not surprise me. There are so many nice restaurants up at BB that are happy and welcoming to see their diners. It's a great way to support local establishments and ensures your return. This situation is a shame, we will not return and will not give a recommendation to The Parkway Restaurant. read more

Caveat: Only been once (last night) and it's Memorial Day weekend so place was very busy, and suspect there was some new staff brought on for the summer which contributed to a so-so experience with some good things and not-so good things. Doesn't seem like many recent reviews. Think I'm probably being a little generous with three stars. + Liked the staff including an experienced hostess and young server who did great. + Interior and ambiance were nice. + Rolls and butter were very good. + Crab cakes were very good. + Had reservations so were able to get a table as the place is popular. - Packed place meant not enough bathrooms so a line for them. - My spinach salad was ok, though hardly covered the plate - not a lot to it for the price (including an understanding that there is a beach premium on anything so bill in the end was fairly steep). - Pasta primavera dish lacked vegetables and flavor according to the two people in our group who ordered it. Chose not to send either dish back as it understandably took a while for the food to come out given the holiday weekend crowd and it wasn't awful. - My New England Clam Chowder wasn't hot, just warm, and would have been appropriate for a nursing home as it lacked flavor like a dash of white pepper or some fresh thyme. - Somewhat limited menu. It's a very popular place and according to locals we know, has served amazing food in the past. We will be back to BB again this season though will likely check out other places before returning here. read more

Went in tonight at 5:35 for a drink at the bar. Most likely would have turned into dinner. There were 2 people at a table and 1 person at the 15 seat bar. I was asked if we had a reservation. I asked if a reservation was necessary for a drink at the bar. "Yes, let me see if I can fit you in ". I told her not to bother we would leave. Suddenly there was room. No thanks. This restaurant is awesome! We called a little late on a Saturday for reservations and luckily there was a table avaliable. We were the first ones in line to sit down for dinner and we were all pleasantly surprised by the food and service. I think this restaurant is a rarity, they seamed to know the majority of the patrons and they don't over book the restaurant. It was very comfortable to dine here, pleasant waitstaff and the food was amazing. Going threw the menu and the list of daily specials made it very hard to make a choice so I sampled from 4 other entrees that our table ordered and everything was perfect! read more

The Parkway - Crazy Town Service, Great Food & a Gift Certificate Fail Like Tom Colicchio on America's Best New Restaurant I'm gonna have to divide this review into 3 sections: Ambiance = 1 Star Service = 0 Stars Food = 3 stars Average overall 3 stars The Parkway Restaurant is local institution in the heart of Bethany Beach, DE. I was excited to be given a $100 Gift Certificate (see photo) so I brought my Mom & Dad by off season with a reservation a Saturday night to use it! We were warmly greeted by the hostess and were led past the bar to a 4 top in the brick lined mid-room. (see pictures) The Ambiance is warm, welcoming, eclectic, & cozy. Our waitress came by promptly and gave us the rundown on the daily specials. She mentioned a favorite and soon to sell out special crab dip & a three course meal. When I asked how much the crab dip was (I'm a Marylander and used to Seafood Market Pricing) she rolled her eyes, got a sour look on her face and said defensively "in my 13 years of working here no one has EVER asked how much the special appetizer was" Really? WOW...I grinned and said "well, how exciting to be the first, I'd still like to know please" She rolled her eyes again. (tough crowd) We gave her the bin number and the name of the bottle of Merlot ($34) we wanted to share and she went to check the price of the app. Again, really? The crab dip app was $15. We passed. We ordered the special 3 course meal which included a Caesar or spinach salad, a single crab cake with petite filet and a creme bruleee desert for $34. (yes, i asked again!) Yum! She brought out the wrong bottle of wine & sighed dramatically rolling her eyes again asking "are you sure?" rather than just apologizing and getting the right one. We were sure. I worry about her eyes. The food was delicious! The crab cake was tennis ball sized and full of lump crab with very little filling. The steak, was tender but we had to pass ours around to each other after cutting to get the right doneness. The aioli served with the steak was piquant and flavorful. Seriously, the kitchen is doing a GREAT JOB here! The problem came with the bill. I asked for it, handing over the Gift Certificate & my credit card but when it came back my dad noticed a problem, it was about $30 bucks too much. It came to us as $166 - my dad is better at mental math than I am. When we asked why about it she said "well, you got an advertised special and that's not allowed, your meal was $41 not $34." We were like, whaaat? Why didn't you say anything? I asked where was it advertised? I was on the website earlier that day & didn't see it...she stormed away and said "let me check on this". She came back with another check in a huff, said "I didn't have to, but I took care of it for you" and she ripped up the original check and tossed the pieces on the table. (see picture) WOW. When my mom gently tried to ask a question she interrupted and shushed her! -- I looked shocked at her at this, and she said to my mom, PLEASE in an exaggeratedly slow way. WOW. We were just nonplussed. I asked what her name was - she didn't want to give it ..."Just call me J" but it was on the check. Jane B. I swear, this doesn't happen to us! We're friendly! I used to be a server, I understand how hard it is and I tip well! Sheesh. I mean, we saw the stipulations about using the gift certificate. Can't use it as a tip, not to be used with any other coupon, no cash back, no advertised specials -- but gee whiz, it shouldn't be so difficult to use a well intentioned gift, should it? And it's OK to ask how much a special appetizer or anything is in a restaurant. I think that's what set her off. Never in 13 years? Hard to believe!
