I've always drove by this place during my commute to school. My boyfriend is Armenian, so he has introduced me to a lot of the food and culture there is to offer. I have always loved the flavorful food, so I stopped in to bring some home. Produce is so inexpensive, and it's really great quality! The have a meat section downstairs (which also serves sandwiches made in the store), alongside a cheese deli, delicious olive selection, small Armenian dishes and a small section of whole bean coffee (fresh). Never have had a problem with food quality, but staff has been a bit uptight and cranky each time I've gone. Although, today an older gentleman helped me out in finding "Almond flour", he was a real sweet man, thank you whoever you are! All smiles :) Upstairs, they have another meat section, this is more typical meat: chickens, beefs, kabobs, etc versus downstairs; prosciutto, Ham, etc. Upstairs they also have an excellent (fancier) cheese selection, alongside their wine and crackers. I really like the set up and how everything is conveniently places beside what you would likely pair it with. They also have a large bread wall, candy, beer, soft drinks, and coffee drinks as well as commercial dairy products, pastries, and baking goods!! I really love this market, and do plan on visiting it again for my grocery needs. Food: excellent Service: very slow, and a bit rude, but there are a few wonderful workers here. Fair service. Stopped by Armen Market after some recommendations by my clients. I've been by the area multiple times, but never noticed this small market. A lot of people complained of narrow aisles and rude workers, but to me everything seemed normal. In fact, some of the employees were quite nice! We ended up getting some fresh feta cheese and sliced salami From the deli, and the workers in the deli section are really nice! As they were getting my order of Greek feta ready, they provided us with a sample of an another type (I forget the type, but it started with a B and it was good!). Never have I been to another deli where they tell me what their favorite item was AND give me a sample. We also ordered some plates of kabobs from the upper butcher section. The worker that helped us there was also really nice. Informed us that it would take ~15-20 minutes, which was perfectly fine as we did our shopping. In addition to cooked meat, they also have a wide selection of marinated and non-marinated options. If you're looking for something, chances are you can find it here. The only down side I noticed was a smaller produce section. However, for a small market, I'll let it slide, as they have so many other food options. Definitely will be back to find other foods to try. read more

When I moved from Altadena to Northern Pasadena -- which is to say less than three miles away -- I stopped visiting this store as often as I once did. What a pity -- because I frequently go to Hastings Ranch and Glendale -- so why snub this 'nearby' store? It's expanded since I last saw it. And feels less tight. Plus plus. I come here for the bulgarian feta, jarred eggplant javar, and bread. When these three meat -- divine. I was picking up these items as an appetizer and was planning to cook something for some friends. But then I gandered at all the delightful items around me. Salami, turkey, hummus, baba ganoosh, stuffed mushrooms -- and I ditched the cooking idea. My home has a lot of serving bowls and decided, screw it -- I'll just put a ton of stuff on a table and let peeps serve themselves. I bought fresh strawberries, a bag of dippable veggies, some Easter colored Jordan almonds, little peanut crisp thingees. It was SO easy and my guests really enjoyed. I discovered the 'meat' side of the store a little late but promised myself to return and explore. I fed four people with way too much food for under $60. And with plenty of leftovers. Do it. There were no expectations coming in, so I was pleasantly surprised coming in. It's a good sized market with ethnic foods. Found some neat snacks here, including wasabi green peas and these chocolate hazelnut chips. The place was clean and well stocked. Prices seemed fairly reasonable too. Friendly counter service. It is a bit out in the mountains, so not exactly a place to go unless you are a local or happen to be in the area like we were. read more

This place is good, however, they lack customer service skills. Super discriminatory! I came here one day with my father, and I was trying to get the attendants attention but she was ignoring me. Until finally she heard me, and I asked If I could get my order taken, and she rudely screamed, "I'm busy right now! Can you HOLD ON? I'm doing something right now!" I stumbled across this place months ago and it's my favorite local market. The prices here are really good and the veggies are very fresh. They have a wide variety of fruits, bread, and lots of ethnic Armenian goods. I have also tried their meats and tried to make my own Kabobs at home. They taste great! I think it's very important to support the small local businesses. I def try to come here as often as I can. The people are also very friendly and nice! read more

After worst experience having with Armen Market years ago; I had to go back there because I had no other choice. Worse workers ever STILL. Very rude workers from the butcher side til cashiers. Please, please, please be very cautious when the lady with "blue eyes evil" rings you up. She rings twice plus adds items that you did not purchase, but yet again she makes sure that when you emptied your cart that you didn't leave any items for her to ring. This market is the best! They have the freshest, finest items - all within reach. The market is not cluttered with unimportant things so the space is maximized for quality. The meats are incredible, the deli is awesome, and the produce is so fresh and reasonably priced. I go there for herbs, ordinary and exotic vegetables, lean meats, and sometimes just to get inspired. So, ok. I hate giving small businesses not so great reviews, but my experience today was... not so great. I went into this very charming market for the first time this afternoon to get a sandwich and some other stuff. On their menu they had a 'Mediterranean Sandwich' listed that included falafel as the main ingredient. I was stoked, i looooove falafel. It was listed for $5.99 and I thought that was a pretty good deal. Basically, long story short, they made my sandwich not with falafel, but with turkey, and I don't eat meat. And, the sticker on the sandwich said $6.99. Not realizing this until I got to the register, I was pretty bummed. The cashier went to get the manager who was incredibly rude and dismissive while telling me they don't even have falafel and 'what do you want me to do about it'. Ooo-kay. Maybe change your menu board for starters. Or, if someone orders that particular sandwich, tell them it's not made with falafel? Anyway, they don't have as big of a selection as Good Food market that's down the street. Wow, and reading other one star reviews... uh, y'all are kinda racist. I'm mainly bummed that they advertised a sandwich they don't actually sell, not that they don't adhere to 'American customer service standards'. I could give a crap about that. I have been shopping at Armen Market since they opened and I am very satisfied with their products and services not to mention the warm welcome that I receive from the cashiers upon my arrival. Everyone is so nice and the produce is always fresh. Prices are very reasonable and they also have great takeouts. They offer all kinds of kabobs and fish that is served with basmati rice and a side of salad along with barbecued tomatoes and pita bread. If you don't shop there and live in the area make sure you pay them a visit and you will not regret it. read more

I came to this store when it was much smaller. It's great they expanded their meat and wine departments. I really like their prices. They are much cheaper than your average grocery store. The isles are very narrow it makes it easy to find everything. The selection of meat is great. Especially the marinated meats , Very salty. A few days ago, I bought pork tenderloin, that was per-marinated. They had them on skewers with vegetables ready to go. I was rushing and picked it up right after work. It did the trick and we had a easy and delicious meal with little effort. The employees are some very nice people, some seriously gold star really helpful. read more

Besides the cashiers and only some of the guys working there restocking the market, there's no good customer service or appreciation for being a customer since day one. Also some cold cuts we bought from them or barbecue marinated meats were not fresh. I'm reconsidering of using Golden market or Good food market instead of Armen market. read more

I really LOVE ethnic markets. You get so inspired and find the most interesting things. You start to imagine cooking all sorts of things that you wouldn't have imagined. They are a small market and have a small selection of produce. For the most part everything seems fresh. I love that they have hard to find sauces and such. Also their meat counter has all sorts of pre marinated meats ranging from lamb, chicken and beef lule. They also have a decent cheese and dried fruit selection i have yet to try. At the register they have a great selection of berries that are normally twice the price at any other market. This is a prime location bc i am always sucker for adding some berries to my piles of groceries. read more

I went there for a look see as none are closer. The produce is ok, small but good quality. The meat counter was very nice. As I was walking around I noticed they had a ramp up to another level. :) So I went up and found the baked good (with baguettes made for a king!) and deli counter. It was expansive and worth checking out. Checking out......Hummmm........I went to check out and after waiting for the cashier to finish her conversation with the customer in front of me I got to check out. The checker was rude. refused to hand me the change and made me uncomfortable. I guess it was because I'm not one of her Bambooshkas! So I will not return. Shame, I wanted to like this place. Found this little market by accident , I was looking to make kabobs and I found this place out . The chicken breast were so good . The flavors were all there. $2 lbs . Which isn't bad at all . Negative point is that this place has grown prices very much in recent months, so many local people even stopped going here. Excellent quality produce, tons of specialty Armenian groceries and baked goods, terrific deli, and fresh BBQ dinners, all for prices that are almost absurdly low.
