I called the owner who was very helpful and gracious and he guided me where to park for free. The service was top notch. The food was awesome. My brother got veal Parm and Angelo and I got the fish special (sea bass with shell fish) in a red sauce. We enjoyed the meal and enjoyed conversation with the owner. I've come to this restaurant many times, if it's for a date or a family dinner for 10, Armando's always shows exceptional service and delicious food! I've eaten so much from this place but have no pictures because I just dig in! I recommend the charcuterie board as an appetizer. It's always unique/different every time I have ordered it. Ate here today after work as a paraprofessional at P.S. 12 Q for dinner feeling hungry and quite exhausted. I had brought and ate the seafood risotto with lobster tail and then tiramisu for dessert that it had tasted great and delicious. The service there was also attentive and super fast that I thanked my server Miguel for serving up my meals today and was given a 10% discount for today while dining in. I couldn't agree more about it. The ambiance was definitely really quiet and has relaxing Italian instrumental music playing so calmly. I have been coming to Armondo's for years with my family and I can't believe I've never left a review. I remember going to Armondo's when it was on 37th Avenue. If my review was just based on food, they would get 5 stars, easy. My go-to has always been Armondo's linguine with white clam sauce. The portions have gotten a bit smaller through the years, especially with COVID and all. The service staff have always been very professional and everyone gets greeted as they walk into Armondo's. I understand restaurants have their great days and then their not-so-wonderful days. This weekend, was one of their not-so wonderful days .. as my mother and I sat for 40 mins waiting for our entrees. We didn't order any appetizers so we didn't think it would take THAT long. As I looked around and saw only 3 other small parties (2 couples and 1 tables with 4 people), I wondered why the food took so long. Everytime the waiter came to refill our waters, he'd say, 'your food is coming'. Frustrated and hungry we wanted to leave but ended up staying and eventually our 2 linguines with white clam sauce came. This was a last minute reservation nearby when our original restaurant messed up our booking. It was absolutely a great choice and we had a great time. The food was flavorful and a hit with everyone adults and kids from appetizers to desserts. This unassuming Italian restaurant is a hidden gem tucked between two other restaurants. The food and the staff are truly a class act here. Once seated, there is a bread basket and bruschetta on the table. Aside from the regular menu, there is a sandwich board of specials that is presented at the table. This was odd to me the first time this I experienced this, because the board is so big, but I really appreciate it now. Instead of having the wait staff rattle off a bunch of specials. It's also, eco friendly not printing the daily specials on paper. The food is made with love. You can't go wrong with any dish that sounds appealing. On this most recent trip we had calamari, which is served with a TON of tentacles which IMO is always a plus! I use to live in Jackson heights for over 20 years and I remember seeing this restaurant on 37th ave but never made it in and boy do I regret it now that I live on Long Island. I made reservations this past Sunday after my baby's baptism and I wish I still lived close to Armando's :(. The service and staff were very attentive and nice. The food was spectacular!!! We order baked clams, stuffed mushrooms, Meatballs the caprese salad and grilled octopus and it was all mouth watering. I also have to add they bring out these little complementary bruschetta breads that are also so tasty!! For entrees we had 3 of their specials of the day. Fettuccini cabonera, wrapped scallops over risotto, salmon over mash. My older son had the lasagna I had the ravioli and the God mother had penne a la vodka with grilled chicken and she requested for them to make it spicy and she kept raving about it. It was so good the God father went two days later on a date and the God mother and I are going back this weekend with our other best friend. Came with with five friends. The wait staff seated us right away. They gave us a nice big round table in the back which was very comfortable. The location does still have some petitioning but did not force masks or any other unnecessary protocols. We did order drinks and everyone felt the drinks were very good. I had the strawberry frozen margarita with sugar in the rim and it really was a great drink. We had some appetizers like fried calamari and some other things. I tried the fried calamari and it was cooked just right with great flavor in the sauce. For my entree I ordered lobster tails with broccoli and potato crochets. Everything I has was delicious and cooked correctly. Our meals were not rushed and also did not take too long. The wait staff gave us a great amount of time in between courses. Pricing was good as it was appropriately expensive but not crazy expensive. All and all a great experience una family style restaurant. From my observations, they cater to an exclusively white, straight clientele with one foot in either the grave or, at best, the nursing home. Not an expanding client base, but however you spell it, this place is creepy. It goes against the inclusivist nature of Jackson Heights. In addition, most of the workstaff is Hispanic. Nevertheless, management gets upset if they hear a patron and an employee speaking Spanish. Very unwelcoming in a majority Latin neighborhood. I had the trout almondine (tonight's special) and my friend had the pork Armando. Let's just say we ate every bite! The food was so good that we also added a few appetizers (clam oreganata, armondo's italian salad). And if you fancy something else not on the menu, ask the staff. Living in Northeast Queens, there are many fine Italian in my neighborhood, but after reading some of the reviews for Armondo's Italian Restsurant, I was intrigued and decided to take my wife there for a birthday lunch. I am so happy we ventured to Jackson Heights! The food was delicious, everything ordered was well cooked and very tasty. The portions were large, ample to take home at least half, for a second meal. The service was extremely attentive. At any time, there were at least three servers tending to us, filling our water, provided anything we requested. Been coming here with my girlfriends for years! Love the coziness and warmth of the place! The waiters are exceptional, very attentive and kind. Once they even watched my car outside for 30 minutes to ensure I wouldn't get a ticket! The food is delicious and the orders come out quickly. I usually get a caprese salad and pappardelle bolognese. And my usual dessert is a perfect tiramisu. They have wonderful specials here as well! I've celebrated many birthdays here for myself and for my friends. They always go the extra step to ensure we are well taken care of! I commend them on their covid protocol, the staff wore masks the entire time and they checked our vaccine cards upon arrival so i felt safe! My issue was with the flavors, to begin with the appetizers me and my boyfriend ordered steamed Diablo mussels which were the special of the night along side with some stuffed clams, the mussels were OK out of a 10 I would give it a hard 4 there was no real flavor even with lemon and Tabasco it was still ok to eat however the CLAMS? They were a beauty one of the best clams I've ever had! 9 out of 10 for sure full of flavor and cooked just perfectly. I love this place. The food is so consistently good. Recently, I had the chicken parmigiana and for once it wasn't swimming in tomato sauce. There was a light splash of tomato sauce under the mozzarella which allowed the breading on the cutlet to remain crispy. Perfection! The tomato sauce that came with the linguine was the perfect consistency and sweetness. It actually clung to the pasta as it should. Also, the service is excellent. Attentive but not imposing. Atmosphere: The restaurant is not that big, but they did a good job with the space and making it feel like upscale dining in the dining room. Like I seriously had to force myself to stop eating it just so I could save room for dessert (SMH). Speaking of dessert....I ordered the Tiramisu and a Macchiato *pauses for a moment of silence to give recognition to the amazingness that soon followed when the party in my mouth kicked in*...Oh, man! The Tiramisu was moist, light, and fluffy with a good balance of the espresso flavor coming through. Now let's talk about this Macchiato! In the words of Drake, this was literally the BEST I EVER HAD. I mean it was soooo good, I ended up having two of them. The decorations make the restaurant cozy, and it is a very good spot for date night also. - Service 10/10: The service here is on point. There are people taking the coats for you. They have a lot of waiters, and they are friendly and helpful. The head/boss? walked around and even made fun conversations with people. The foods we ordered came out right away that we were surprised that they were so quick. - Food 7/10: At first, they give you free bread and butter as well as free bruschetta. We really liked those. The chicken scarpariello and the beets ravioli were special that day, and the eggplant parmigiana was on the menu. The dishes were big in portion, but they didn't stand out to us: the chicken dish was a little bit too sour, the flavor of the beets were not strong. The eggplant parmigiana didn't awe me, but the more I ate it, the more I liked it. We also got a carrot cake for dessert, but it was a little too sweet for our taste. Armondo's is my favorite Northern Italian restaurant in Queens. Outdoor and indoor seating are available as well as takeout and delivery. We opted for indoor seating because we had proof of COVID Vaccine. The restaurant has an amazing wine list as well as wines by the glass. I red wine; our waiter's recommended Montepulciano was outstanding. For those of you who prefer white wine, my friend was also happy with her Chardonnay. I ordered the Salmon Italiano, which was served on a bed of spinach in a delicious lemon garlic herb sauce. My friend had a wonderful Eggplant Rollatini. Both were excellent. Bottom line? I don't wanna hate this restaurant but my experience eating at this place wasn't good. Let start of with the mussel, I got a plate of mussel which looks so fantastic but ended up tasting bland. Flavor wasn't there and I couldn't bare to eat more (looks can be deceiving). Then I order a veal that looks so weird and unappetizing. I only manage to eat one and couldn't eat anyone. But the flavor was there but it was so chewy and not worth eating. Along with that It came with a side of pasta and omg the pasta was so oily and bland as hell. Whatever you do avoid eating the veal . White wine is the only thing that was really good and was able to drink it all.Other then that, the service was okay they don't really ask you how's the food is or even ask how's everything. Even when I was sitting next to a waiter they never once ask how's everything. But either way it's more about the food then it's about the waiter. If I could give this spot 0 stars I would. We ordered $203 worth of food (plus tip) for Mother's Day...and it was a disaster. The eggplant parmesan was rancid...so bad that the 8 of us spit out whatever we had put in our mouths because it was absolutely disgusting. The pasta was dry and lacking flavor, we had to put a side of Raos marinara to help make it edible. We also ordered chicken Franceses which had absolutely NO flavor. When we called to address the concerns about the rancid flavor in the eggplant the manager told us he tasted everything out of the kitchen and that nothing tasted rancid. We will never order from here again, customer service and food was completely lacking. It was embarrassing to serve this to our guests. The only edible part of this meal was the bread they provided. So if you want bread, go ahead and go Armandos- otherwise youre better off getting "italian food" from the frozen section of your super market. read more

The owner came to our table to chat and see how we were doing and talked with us about the menu. The waiters did not come around extremely often but the restaurant is sized well enough to be able to call them when needed. AMBIANCE Very simple and cozy. It is not a huge restaurant but there are enough tables to accommodate several parties. Very clean and the bar has several drinks to offer. Aside from the menu you can order just about anything at the bar which is nice. The most unique thing about this restaurant is that there is a vespa hanging over the bar; YUP, a real life vespa chained to the wall hanging. FOOD Now this is where I gave the restaurant 4 stars. I ordered the penne al la vodka and it was good but it wasn't the best i had. I didn't think the noodles were cooked enough for me, another 3 minutes would have made the mean perfect. Relocation Improvement Prior to their location change I've had mixed experiences at Armondo's, but now that they have moved I believe they've taken a turn for the better. Food: Consistency is a mild issue at Armondo's. While the dishes are typically delicious, none-the-less there have been times myself or a fellow diner received a steak medium well rather than medium rare or the clams are overcooked. Despite being overcooked the dishes will have excellent flavor and in regards to the steak, maintain its tenderness (similar to Trieste). ALWAYS listen to their specials! While their regular menu has interesting items the specials usually go above and beyond the menu in some way, shape or form. I've had the lobster ravioli and scallops with risotto on two different occasions when dining there. The specials were cooked to perfection and many of you know how difficult it is to cook scallops without being completely undercooked or cooked to the texture of rubber. Desserts are basic, but delicious. My biggest recommendation would be the pecan tart. I don't understand how they fit so many tarts into the smaller dessert. The portions are not large, but they are rather filling leaving just enough room for some good dessert. Service: The service is very friendly and more experienced than most. Well past the 25 year mark for our server. Happy to talk to the clients if it isn't overly crowded. Ambiance: They did a nice revamp of the former restaurant (Trieste) that was located there previously. They decluttered the window adding more natural light. The restaurant is also much easier to spot from the street with a visible sign with good lighting. The restaurant itself is rather small, but can handle larger parties. I would personally recommend coming in with a group of 4 or less since the ambiance gives more of a romantic feel, than a lively (party) one. It seemed like a neighborhood Italian restaurant when we walked in and met a sincere proprietor glad to greet guests. The rest of the staff carried on well in that tone. The elements seemed balanced, simplicity becoming excellence. Two of us. A+ white bean, arugala salad to share, good wine by the glass, even a good cocktail from the bar. Pasta entrees showed the kitchen was as good as the service. Background music was subdued at a perfect level for white tablecloth dining. I was surprised to hear Miles Davis blend in.
