    String of pearls
    Karlee B.

My first time finally shopping at Armstrong gardens! Came in for soil to do some repotting and obviously couldn't leave without a few new plants. The string of pearls was packed to the brim, and when I untangled her at home, she still looks so full and happy. It's now been a month since ive purchased and both my plants are still looking great. The service was also great. They provide paper to place your plants on in your car to keep it clean.

I've been coming to this location for my plants and Christmas trees for over 25 years (and I'm lucky to live within walking distance). Whether you're a local or visiting from further away, you know this team is top-notch, always friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help. Today, I brought in some leaves from one of my struggling plants, and Christine, the Assistant Manager, was fantastic. She patiently answered all my questions and gave me the perfect advice to bring it back to health. Thank you, Christine! You and the whole team truly care about your customers. I'll follow your advice and keep you posted. Thanks again for all your help.

sand to top off our indoor house plant to keep fungal gnats from permeating the soil and laying eggs!
    Charis R.

This is one of the best Armstrong Garden's around. We live closest to the Huntington Beach location but rather triple our drive time and stop by this one in Newport Beach. I have yet to meet anyone unfriendly or ingenuine - someone is always happy to help and in fact they go the extra mile. Without fail, we always happen to get fungal gnats in our indoor house plants. Despite using neem oil religiously, we can't get rid of those darn critters. I forget the name of the helpful associate (an older lady who said she's been there for 12 years), but she told us to use specific plant sand as a top layer in our pot, because the gnats can't permeate through and lay their eggs. Additionally, we were perusing around buying supplies to spruce up our backyard, and Bryan came to the rescue and offered his help before we even asked. Not only did he offer a wealth of information, but he was very personable and we ended up chatting about non-gardening topics as well. I could go on about how much I love this specific store, someone is hiring right and doing a great job managing. This store also puts Roger's Gardens to shame. As beautiful as Roger's Gardens is it's impersonal, overpriced and all show with no substance.

Excellent customer friendly service, the employees here are very knowledgeable. Answering all our questions and giving suggestions. I hit a few gem plants that are hard to find thanks to the employee. The plants here are a little bit more expensive but in excellent beautiful condition as well. This location is out of my way but was in the area. So glad I stopped by.

Blown away!!!!!! THANK YOU for such an incredible experience!!!! We were driving by and decided to stop. I live in an apartment with tons of light, but no balcony for plants and I LOVE gardens. I wanted to see if they had indoor roses, I heard is possible but not common and I have my little rose plant but no flowers. The lady that help me was very nice and knowledgeable, VERY funny. I found out that if I want indoor roses they belong in a vase with water HAHAHAHAHA. I will be using that analogy from now on and I adore the fun honesty. All the staff members we encountered were truly nice. I took a thousand pics to show my suegra and my parents for things they might like. This place makes me want to have a garden!!!! Organized and tres chic!!!!!!

Such an incredible nursery with friendly staff and amazing plants! Beautiful rare houseplants and a gorgeous outdoor gardening area. Great selection of cacti/succulents. Cannot recommend enough!! Special shout out to Bryan for being so helpful and kind. Can't wait to go back with my pup!

Hope these little guys will help save my fruit & vegetable garden. Special thanks to Karen "Special K." for this gardening tip! :)

This is one of my two favourite garden centers in the Newport Beach area. Whenever I'm "hiding out" & not in the mood to spend the day at the massive, crazy-crowded, fancy, valet-parking, destination garden center a few blocks away in Corona Del Mar, "Armstrong Garden Center" is my go-to spot. Located on busy Pacific Coast Highway, "Armstrong Garden Center" has plenty of quick-&-easy parking in the parking lot out front, & is a beautiful yet relaxed, low-key garden center/nursery with a nice variety of creative options for both the experienced & "newbie" gardening enthusiast. They feature gorgeous flowers, indoor & outdoor plants, fountains, healthy & organic fruit & vegetable trees & plants, seedlings, gardening tools & aids, patio decor, decorative pots, fun seasonal & unique items, & much more. It's a bit pricier than the "garden section" of your typical "big-box hardware/home retailer," but you do get what you pay for. "Armstrong Garden Center" may not be the fanciest garden center in-town, but overall the staff are friendly & helpful, & it's a very nice, pleasant, quiet, low-key yet beautiful nursery for your gardening needs.

Our cat loves his new patio oasis from Armstrongs large selection. His favorite is the flowers and hiding behind the trees and lavender.

We went Mother's Day weekend and the parking was horrible. Save yourself the headache and just valet your car. We walked in by their restaurant. They have carts available for you to use. The roses were hella expensive; $100 and more for a medium sized pot. They do offer a wide range of fruits and vegetables reasonably priced (~$8) and a variety of different types of flowers were scattered throughout the garden from small to large pots (~$10 - $40's) The garden was designed nicely with small shops offering decor and gardening tools/pot. They were way overpriced imo. Overall it was fun to walk around and see the different variety of plants and flowers. I would rather go to Lowe's/Home Depot or home goods for pots and decor though.

They had a wonderful selection of popular items including indoor plants, succulents, orchids, fruit trees, flowering plants, and bonsai. Since I am into succulents it was nice to see the variety they had in stock. Only downside is the pricing of these succulents. I also looked at orchid and pondered whether to replace my indoor collection but the pricing was a bit too high for me to justify replacing all my indoor orchid plants. So instead, I picked one new succulent and one beautiful purple orchis and checked out. I also browsed their collection of ceramic planters and seasonal garden decorations to get some inspiration for my own backyard. Overall, service was good. The staff was very knowledgeable about plant care and watering tips and they gave me advice on keeping my succulents and orchids alive. HAHA we will see how they behave in the next few months. In conclusion, good shopping experience here. Will be back here if my new plants need more tender loving care advice!

My friends and I stopped by to look around -- one of us was actually hoping to buy something for their garden. While browsing, we used the restroom (which was available to customers), and shortly after, the man working there -- an older gentleman with glasses -- snapped at us with an incredibly rude, "So are you going to buy something or what?" We calmly replied, "We're just looking around for now," and his response? "So you just come in here and use the bathroom and leave?" At that point, I literally had something in my hand I was planning to buy. But after being harassed like that, I put it right back down and walked out. That kind of accusatory tone and hostility is unacceptable. This kind of customer treatment is outrageous. I'm a frequent shopper of local nurseries, and I've never encountered anything like this. If you value a welcoming atmosphere and respectful service, steer clear of this place -- especially the man with glasses. There are plenty of other nurseries that will treat you like a customer, not a nuisance.
