I looked up items on the menu. What we wanted was $30 for the "Pladda for Two" featuring three double-sized meat options, two sides, and cornbread. When I got there to order, the price was $8 more. Okay, prices rise. I ordered and was quoted a price. But, it was higher than quoted because of the 4% markup for credit. Okay.... Then, when I got home with the order, it seemed the portion of pulled chicken was small and we were missing the pulled pork completely! So I called. I was told I could drive back to get the missing portions. I said that was not acceptable. I was offered a refund. I thought that was better. I was told it would be $6, which seemed low considering the $38 pricetag (the large size of the side we ordered is $4, so $8 for double, let's say $2 for the cornbread, that leaves $28, split 3 ways should be $9+). But, I accepted. The resulting refund was $4.52 and not what was offered. It may seem like much "to do" about $1.48, but it is about all of it, each little thing piled on to the final, lowball outcome. read more

Review is only based on their BBQ food. Got the 2 meat combo with Ribs and pulled chicken, they had pulled pork and hot sausage too. At first look the chicken was all multicolored with the white and dark meat but also the amount of seasoning on each piece was different. I would say it was more "chopped" than pulled. Juicy meat, like it was stewing all day like some pulled meat dishes are made. A bit chewy for my taste but not terrible. Flavor was like a bad lemon flavor to me, not a fan. Rib came wrapped up in the tin foil that the chicken was in, I completely understand why they do that but its weird cause the steam and juice from the chicken make it seem like it was all cooked in the same foil. I couldn't grab the bones because they didn't stick out like St. Louis Style does. What I would call oven baked style more than smoked. A bit more tender than the chicken, but I just wasn't getting great flavor from the meat or the spices. The rub had a lot of very "dry" style spices, stuff that's neither hot, sweet, or powerful. So it really didn't make an impact. They told me the potato salad was one of their favorites. This potato salad is that store bought, sweet onion, miracle whip, red bliss potato salad. I myself really like this style but I know most people don't. Beans were Drowning in Gravy sauce. Some bacon or pork, some bell peppers, pinto beans. Bean didn't really hit me with flavor as much as the gravy did, but even the gravy wasn't much. Traditional New England style though, not bad. Cornbread came it it's own container and it was still hot! I don't think that is a regular thing but it was a good piece. It tasted like they have a generic store bought mix but then they doctored it a little bit to make it a bit better. Very disappointing. I had a craving for a chili dog and paid an additional $.50 for about a tablespoon of salting chili on a "toasted" bun that was dried out with no butter or oil to toast it. It's hard for me to believe I'm seeing any negative reviews here. They're hard serve. Icecream is incredible. Homemade with TOP ingredients that they don't skimp on. All the food I've ever tried has been excellent. Their pork sandwich with at least six sauces to choose from is one of my favorites. Plenty of pork and good quality. I understand they just opened from winter break, but you shouldn't forget how to make a burger. I ordered the Adam burger which features their pulled pork. First off the bun was a bit charred, nothing I couldn't over look. The burger nice charbroiled taste, but lacking any form of seasoning. Veggies were a nice treat, but a bit heavy on the tomato slices. Wife ordered the Arnie burger which is just their bacon cheeseburger. Nothing too spectacular, under seasoned patty as well, and no bacon to be found anywhere. As for the Chili Cheese fries, or lack of, tastes like canned Hormel chili and some tasteless cheese sauce on about a handful size amount of fries. This is the sort of local joint every town needs...drive up and get an ice cream cone or a burger and run into your friends while you're there. Sadly, most of these "American Graffiti" or "Happy Days" places are long gone. Not so in Concord--Arnie's has been there for years and is still going strong, with a wall of "Best in NH" type plaques on the wall to prove it The menu features all the standard food made fast, plus some surprises, like Southern pulled pork bbq along with hot dogs and hamburgers of every description. French fries that are really good! Ice cream in about 30 flavors also on tap. Friendly service, and you can eat at a counter or take your food outdoors to a picnic table. The lines sometimes get long in summer, but don't be put off by them. Arnie's slings good food and the lines prove it. read more

However, the owner was so nice and despite having no food or drinks left and no money in the till, she still made my elderly Mother a root beer float. Always try to get to Arnie's when we fly into Boston. It's a drive to get there (about an hour and a half north into Concord, but we'll worth it. The best burgers and shakes. Very goog burger and fries on a Sunday night. Ive had Arnies BBQ in the past and it's quite good. This time I skipped the bbq and had the Arnie burger with fries. The Arnie burger, one of about 6-7 specialty Burgers offered, consists of a very decent sized beef patty, cheese, bacon, lettuce, red onion, and tomato. Burgers are probably most like Red Robbin but with a much more pronounced charbroil flavor that I really enjoyed. The bacon was nicely cooked and just the right thickness and texture. Veggies were very freach Fries were nicely crisp, roughly similar to Wendy's buy had their own unique flavor. Burgers are sole ala carte so can be pricey for a burger combo of fries and a drink. On the expensive side but a very high quality burger. Staff was very friendly and wait time on the burgers was reasonable despite a steady pace of customers. There was plenty of indoor seating at about 6pm along with a few picnic tables that were about half occupied. I always appreciate their self service station with condiments, and most especially, their selections of BBQ sauce that make a great topping for burgers. Worth a stop in the Concord area if you're looking for good BBQ and burgers. Of course, they're also a full ice cream stand as well. Perfect summer stop for dinner and desert. read more

Absolutely Delicious! Had a little bit of everything and wasn't disappointed. They also have many different sauces to choose from. My favorite was a tie between the smoky and Carolina. The ribs were great. The meat, which there was a lot of, just fell off the bone . The chicken and pork were delicious, but the hot sausages were perfection. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as my friend is looking into catering for her wedding. Arnie's Place is a popular seasonal ice cream and food restaurant, open during the warmer months, late February until Columbus Day weekend, which is a good place to go for creamy homemade ice cream and BBQ fare. They have outside takeout windows and another counter inside with dining room. The burgers are pretty good, I get the Bubba burger! The pulled pork is very tender with a dry texture, add your own BBQ sauce. The fries come out very hot and crispy. The cole slaw is pretty decent. The portions are modest for the price. The ice cream is very good, which has a dense creamy texture with good and around 60 flavors to choose from. My favorite hard ice cream flavor is definitely the Nazzy's Favorite, named after Nazzy from 98.3 LNH. My coworkers and I go here for group outings when Arnie's opens up for the season during early spring and during hot summer days. We all agree, the food and ice cream at Arnie's is solid good, but pricey. On my last visit back in the fall, I spent around $17 for a BBQ combo pladda, soft drink, and a medium ice cream cone. read more

Was delicious, no fat on it at all and the barbecue sauce was delicious. The sides are small, I got a side of baked beans. Looking back it was not the greatest deal. After eating I saw they had hand made ice-cream. After being offered a few spoon sized samples i decided to go with the apple crisp. Amazing... We stopped in here for a late lunch after an afternoon at Home Depot down the street, and we were so glad we did. We each had a Bubba Burger - OMG. It was delicious. Everything about it was perfect. It was built well, the flavors were excellent, the bun was soft. It was amazing. We also split a side of mac and cheese bites - holy. moly. They were out of this world. I've had these before at other restaurants, and they're usually underwhelming with the cheese flavor - but not these. The pasta inside was al dente, it was cheesy, and the outside breading crispy and delicious. And for people complaining about the prices -- I'm fine with paying a bit more for delicious food. I just had a great experience at this classic restaurant on the Heights in Concord. Super friendly staff and very efficient at ordering and serving the food. I had one of the best grilled chicken sandwiches and french fries I've eaten. The barbecue and ice cream are excellent too. Tom the owner is a very friendly guy and everything is squeaky clean. One of maybe three places in New Hampshire where I will go for barbecue. Is it the best barbecue you'll ever taste? No, but it is solid. Arnie's is a great little restaurant/ice cream stand in Concord that is the perfect place to go on a summer evening (or unseasonably warm spring evening) after work for a plate of ribs and pulled pork followed by a scoop of ice cream. The ribs and pulled pork are smoked and served dry, but there are squeeze bottles of Arnie's house made sweet, smokey and spicey barbecue sauces across from the ordering counter. The fact that they make their sauces themselves means that they taste slightly different depending on the day. So sometimes the sweet is just right, others it's too sweet. Alternatively, the smokey can be too vinegary some days. Some would think this a flaw, but i like it. I put a little of each in the sauce cups and sample them while I wait for my order. As for sides, there really isn't anything spectacular here. The coleslaw is ok, the potato salad is ok and the cornbread is fine. If you feel obligated to order something other than smoked meats, I recommend going with the baked beans, onion rings or fries. They also do a regular grill menu with burgers and hot dogs, and while these are, again, nothing special, they certainly are tasty enough. As for icecream, my girlfriend goes crazy for their cake-batter ice cream and I'm a big fan of their frozen yogurt. Honestly, it's really hard to go wrong with anything on their ice cream menu. Summing up: It's not gourmet and you won't see them winning many barbecue competitions, but for what they do and for where they do it, you'd be hard-pressed to find someplace better. read more
