For those who don't know about Iyengar yoga it's the real deal, not some competitive, gimmick yoga that has the potential of creating more problems than it solves. I should know, as a 68 year old I've gone to hundreds of yoga classes including some in India. The owner and primary teacher is amazing. She has years of Iyengar yoga experience having studied with BK Iyengar at his Institute in India and going back for advanced training on a regular basis. When I started working with her I could barely move from a series of injuries and significant scoliosis. At first I took private lessons because I was in such bad shape and then began her gentle yoga class. Since attending the weekly gentle yoga class my disabilities have virtually vanished. Ruthanne knows how to deal with just about any physical problem in a confident and therapeutic manner. As a medical professional myself I can attest to her ability to use her yoga knowledge to help all those in her classes. She teaches all levels of Iyengar Yoga, and has a big following of grateful devotees. If you're looking for a real yoga practice experience, this is the place to come.

They have a variety of yoga classes and times to choose from. It was such a peaceful yoga class. I felt all my tensions released. There are plenty of parking spots in the plaza.

You can sign up for a drop in class on the Mind & Body app for $18 or opt for a membership. The first month is $49 for unlimited classes! When we arrived, the instructor was signing people in and gave a few instructions for first-timers (just me) on the importance of hydration. Hydrate 45(?) minutes before and after class, making sure to drink something with electrolytes as you sweat... a lot. Walking into the warm studio, you already start to sweat but the class was amazing with the instructor aware of the skill levels of everyone in class. I was so grateful for her going over certain things a bit more as I haven't stepped into an in-person yoga class since college. I was DRIPPING in sweat, in the best way possible, and was absolutely drenched by the end of class. Even though I felt like I just took a shower, I was so relaxed. Pro tip: don't forget to bring your own mat, towel, and water!

I wanted something challenging and not so girly. I went ahead and gave it a try. I took one class every day for 30 days and noticed an incredible change in my body. My arms were leaner, I was more flexible and the aches and pains in my hips and knees went away. My running time also improved. This yoga studio caters to all yoga enthusiasts offering a variety of classes. The studio is extremely clean, the instructors are a joy to be around and it really is a nice environment to be in. I mostly take the heated classes but I also take the warm vinyasa classes. Every instructor has a different style so it's nice to change it up. I have recommended this studio to my friends in the community. I have been very happy with this find. I enjoy sharing my thoughts throughout the heated classes: At the beginning of the class I think to myself, Ahhhhh I'm so happy I came to class this morning. Towards the middle of the class I think to myself, why did I come to class? Then, at the end of the class I think to myself, Thank goodness I came to class. Now I can go out and take on my day! I truly recommend this studio to anyone who hasn't tried it out! You will not regret it!

Shine On is a real sanctuary in the middle of Weston that also offers Reiki Circles and special events throughout the year, like Sound Healing and New Age music events. I have done Kundalini (with Pi'ilani) and Restorative Yoga (with Cinthia) and both teachers are not only very experienced, but also very caring and accommodating for different performance levels. I highly recommend this studio.

I knew CynthiaB from a studio I had attended regularly pre-Covid and was excited that she had opened SHINE ON YOGA but I didn't have the confidence (with my vulnerable bronchia) to attend. Flash forward three years and the body of this late-60's gal has clearly paid the price for not continuing a 10-year practice. I knew I HAD to get my joints moving again and to regain the sense of calm and rhythm that yoga can bring to one's life. I needed the nurturing of my yogi-sisters again. I started by attending some of the on-line/remote classes in the privacy of my own home. This was an excellent place to begin as I am very self conscience of the weight I've gained and my lack of flexibility. No one to see me struggle, no one to see my pudgy gut. There are many styles of yoga offered at ShineOn and I have chosen to attend those classes that are "Low & Slow" (my term) so that I don't strain this old body of mine. I am partial to the Restorative/Yin class offered on-line on Monday mornings and the Yin/Restorative flow on Thursdays, both lead by Cynthia. Both of those classes are ideal for anyone who wants to stretch those muscles and get those joints fluid, so I encourage anyone who is a little out of shape to start there. As I get stronger and more confident again, I'll start attending the 'flow' classes regularly too. Ashtanga, VInyasa and Kundalini classes are offered as well - and even some classes in Spanish! But meanwhile I'll cautiously build my practice with the gentle and nurturing "Low & Slow" classes at ShineOn. And as a result, I'll be better at practicing patience with myself too as I transition.
