Chicken with mushrooms and curry chicken

We are becoming regulars since trying this place earlier this year! Draper is full of chains and I really appreciate having great restaurants like this close by, instead of having to go downtown. Everything on the menu is delicious! If you are not well versed in different Indian entrees, just tell them what you like and they are awesome to recommend or even make something not on the menu. The owner is such a nice man and I would love to see more people give this place a try! But, this is Draper, where many don't have an interest in ethnic foods. Hands down my favorite Indian food place in town!!

Food ok. They don't serve alcohol. A glass of wine would have been nice. Overpriced for what you get. Service good. Ambiance nice.

This was my family's first trip to Jalwa since it used to be the former Aroma Indian restaurant…read morethat we have patronized for years. The new interior refresh is nice, modern, and inviting...and a pleasant departure from the typical Indian restaurant... Although I think some modern cultural artwork, paintings, and decorations would be very fitting as an add-on to the Jalwa restaurant. Our waiter was very pleasant (although he spoke in hushed tones...and it was difficult to hear him.) He also got a little confused as to what we were looking for with respect to just wanting the papadums with chutney (which is a standard appetizer at most Indian restaurants that we've patronized,) but instead we got vegetable pakora with chutney and just plain papadums on the side. Hmmmm. Nevertheless, it was all delicious. My wife's main entree was the butter chicken, and we both shared a saag aloo. I had my go-to chicken vindaloo, and it was delicious. The portion sizes are humongous, which is a nice departure from the typical Indian restaurant where you pay $15 and get maybe half the bowl that Jalwa provides. Overall, an excellent experience and will be back to patronize more often. Oh, and they're newly updated and revised menu is awesome! Dozens and dozens of options. It took us at least 10 minutes to get through it all to figure out what we wanted! Four stars for good food (and plenty of it), good service, and a nice new atmosphere as compared to Aroma. Absolutely recommend!

Decent indian food, big portions, and not badly priced…read more Ambiance: Big restaurant with lots of seating on the inside. There's a tiny bar when you first walk in as well. Service: Quick and friendly. Food: Got the Sesame Crispy Potato, garlic potatoes, and the chicken tikka masala. Everything was pretty good tbh and they definitely do not skimp on the spice when you ask for it which was a pleasant surprise! The tikka masala was a bit sweeter than I'd like and I ran out of meat way before I ran out of the curry, but it was good. Overall, decent Indian place. Nothing amazing, but it's got everything you need.

We also ordered plain naan bread. I feel like this place didn't hit like I hoped it would. My dish was very flavorless, I've always ordered this same dish at other restaurants with no spice & this was just so bland. My boyfriend said his had good heat but also tasted pretty bland that he wished we had some salt or pepper to add to it. The naan bread wasn't great either. Maybe we should have picked the butter or garlic naan bread instead. Service was good. The restaurant was clean. There were a couple other tables at the time as well. I felt like our food came out quickly. It just didn't hit like we hoped it would. I always love leftover Indian food & my leftovers were soo oily. I tried to soak up all the separated oil with a napkin & ended up just tossing this. My boyfriend said he liked his leftovers better second day than the first day. Kind of disappointed with the positive reviews they have. Maybe we just had a bad batch.
