It seems that people either love Aroma or hate it-the reviews are a bit polarizing. I'm not sure that my opinion is super strong either way-I'm happily seated in the middle of the road on this one. I'll start with the good: * The food was tasty-plenty of flavor and good, quality ingredients. * The portion sizes were generous, with plenty of leftovers to take home for later. * It's a family-run business, which always appeals to me. The not-as-good: * The tables and chairs make a LOT of noise when they are moved. There was a large party being seated and they had to move around several tables and chairs and we struggled to continue our conversation. * There was only one person taking care of all the guests, so drink refills were a little slow. Was here today for a business lunch. We were originally planning to go to Gourmandise but there was a 30 minute wait. Plan B for us worked out perfectly. The owner/waiter was absolutely the sweetest! I had the chicken markhani & garlic naan. VERY filling, tasty & comforting. The owner kept apologizing for the slight wait on our dishes. I honestly didn't notice. 10 STARS!!! Aroma does everything right! This restaurant is not simply one of the best in Draper or SLC, it is one of the best Indian cuisine restaurants in the US. Their food is wonderful, and I mean everything on the menu. My family has enjoyed this restaurant for years, and we recently catered a very, very special family celebration. We ordered for 200+ people, and were offered the entire menu from which to choose our items - that in itself is incredible. We ordered samosas, their crispy potatoes, naan, two vegetarian dishes and two chicken dishes. Everything was prepared fresh, and you could taste the passion and excellence in every bite. So much food, all mouth watering, and enjoyed by guests from 4 years old to 94. People will one day forget what they ate, but will never forget how they were made to feel. The management, ownership, and kitchen team here are all exceptional, and truly care...it was as though they were making every dish for their dearest friends and family. We are becoming regulars since trying this place earlier this year! Draper is full of chains and I really appreciate having great restaurants like this close by, instead of having to go downtown. Everything on the menu is delicious! If you are not well versed in different Indian entrees, just tell them what you like and they are awesome to recommend or even make something not on the menu. The owner is such a nice man and I would love to see more people give this place a try! But, this is Draper, where many don't have an interest in ethnic foods. We had enjoyed Aroma despite the fact that rice is an additional add on expense until recently. One of the dishes we ordered was a tikka masala and when we got home, found out if had huge chunks of onion and pickle in it. While these ingredients are normally blended up, the flavor and consistency was very off putting from any other of the many Indian restaurants we have tried. We likely won't be back as there are so many other good quality options. Update: a month later and the thought of eating here makes me nauseous, so I'm ordering from somewhere else. read more

Been going to Aroma for about 4 years now, and the quality has never winked once. This is definitely the best Indian Restaurant in Utah HANDS DOWN. I've been to many others and none have perfected the chicken Tikka Masala quite like Aroma has. The staff are very friendly and always have a smile for you when you walk in. Food was good but I thought their billing was odd. Every Indian restaurant I have ever been to included rice with the meal. We were charged for rice and it threw us off. Each meal was about $15.00 dollars and for that all you would get is a small portion with no rice or bread. I feel bad leaving a moderately bad review however I need to be honest also. Lots of issues here. They use a digital menu system, which I'm sure people like but I hate, one of the worst Covid holdovers in my opinion. Service was fine, although getting water was a challenge. Shrinkflation is my biggest complaint. The dishes were tiny for $16 and only one of the 3 dishes, the vindaloo, had any flavor at all. The Naan was strange, like remade pizza dough and didn't look or taste like the traditional tandoori baked Naan almost all Indian places have. Also as other reviewers have said rice is extra, even considering these tiny portions. Not only was it extra, but they were selling it like that was the only item on the menu, we were asked 3 times with a presumptive close about our lack of rice choice. I would give them another try as they were friendly but the pricing and nickel and dimeing are not something I want to encourage, so we will chose other options in the future. read more

I eaten nearby but never noticed this place before until a friend got us reservations there. We were the only ones a Friday evening, which was a little concerning, but I trust my friend's tastes and t knew I was in good company if nothing else. Firstly, service was friendly and personable, obviously not in a rush. My mango lassi was satisfying and more mango-y than ones I've had elsewhere, which made it much more pleasant to sip and savor while we waited. The keema samosa was flavorful, tender, and comforting. But my tandoori chicken was the highlight. Now I'm usually a saucey eater and shy away from drier dishes, but the chicken legs deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection--baked fry in the outside but juicy on the inside. And since I didn't have any sauce to flavor my rice, I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful the rice was by itself, occasionally scooped up with garlic naan of course. I'm excited to go back and try their other naans as I haven't seen so many varieties before and we kept it simple. Sure, it's not a bargain (and the empty tables don't help), but I dare say this is the best Indian food I've had from Provo to Salt Lake and it's well worth a visit if you enjoy good food, friendly service, and pleasant atmosphere. read more

We didn't have our phones with us, so we were given a menu and told the prices aren't current, the menus were from when they opened 18 years ago, so we had no idea what the food would actually cost. My husband ordered biryani and I ordered butter chicken, and like other reviews said, you pay extra for rice ($5) Why? All the other Indian places include rice. Our dinner was $43 (before tip). We could have eaten for thirteen less at other Indian restaurants and had leftovers. The butter chicken was very good, but NOT worth the price. The biriyani was okay, but very small portion. We will be sticking with Paradise Biryani Pointe down the street. Way better biryani, bigger portions and less expensive. read more

Gave us water and took our appetizers order And we asked to put in our food order. He said 3 minutes. Aroma is a nice little restaurant in Draper. When we arrived on a Friday evening, the place was packed and very busy. We were greeted by the owner and asked if we would like to sit on the outside patio, which we did. The owner said that they use all organic ingredients, and was quite proud of their strawberry lassi. We ended up getting the mango lassi, which was just what you'd expect from a lassi: sweet, thick, and full of mango flavor. I ordered the Lamb Boti Kabab Masala, and my wife ordered the Chicken Coconut Kurma. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic, with a nice balance of spices in both dishes. My lamb was cooked perfectly. The one thing we didn't especially like was the naan bread. Personally, I like my naan bread to be extremely thin and crispy--almost cracker-like. The naan at Aroma reminded me of almost pizza crust thickness. The flavors were fantastic, but it wasn't "traditional" naan in my experience. Make sure you talk with the owner. He is extremely nice, and his pride in his restaurant is apparent. He also owns and Indian restaurant in Thailand, and previously had another on the East coast. read more
