The staff were welcoming and gracious. We came in towards the end of lunch service, but it didn't cause any issues. The moment you walk in you can smell the authenticity. We started with samosas, these were a bit disappointing in flavor. Missing the spices I love from I dian food. But the main made up for it. We had one of the Aachari Chicken, plenty to share. My husband and I both agree, Aroma is hands down the best Indian food in Baton Rouge (& we are Indian so have been to hundreds of Indian restaurants!). We have had take out before and everything was delicious, but this was my first time dining in person. Convenient location with easy parking. Lots of booths available. We were the first guests early for lunch on Saturday but several other groups came in after us around noon. Rava dosa: my favorite dosa always. Great sambar and chutney to compliment. Cheese dosa: big and crispy and my kids loved it. Haaka noodles with chicken: asked for it mild with my kids and everyone liked it (also enjoyed the leftovers for dinner) Chicken chettinad: my husband loved it to much that he took the leftover curry home to eat with more chicken! We had a group of ten on a Friday night, so we got there for 5:30 and the place was empty when we got there but filled up very quickly. There are plenty of large comfortable booths for seating, and until I saw it full, I didn't realize just how big the space was. Our waiter was very attentive and personable and the food came out quickly. Everything on the menu sounded good and was reasonably priced so I had a hard time picking something, but finally settled on the shrimp tandoori. I opted to go mild, but next time will go medium on it. It came with naan, and I upgraded to cheese naan and it was the best move. Their naan is light and so good that before you know it, you've eaten the whole basket. Just note that while entrees come with rice and naan, the sizzler plates only come with naan. I went inside to order takeout, so I can't say much about the service other than the experience I had checking out which was a pleasant. The portions here are great. I tried the chicken curry at Level spicy. It sure is spicy! It wasn't too spicy to eat, but it definitely built as you go on, so I'm not sure if I would get it again next time or if I would go down in spice. I also tried a lamb dish that I forget the name of but it was sooo good. Overall, the food here is good and I would definitely both come back and recommend to others. read more

This meal was super fast and tasted absolutely amazing. The tikka masala was different than what I have had in the past, delicious and particularly more oniony than I expected. The butter masala was divine, buttery but a little bit too spicy for me even though I ordered mild. If you don't like spicy food, I would recommend requesting NO heat. The restaurant has a really nice location with big booths for seating. The food was delicious and well priced default coming with an order of naan. For our appetizer we asked for suggestions and were recommended the honey chili cauliflower. It had great flavor and crunch we loved. We also got the salty lemonade and chai which were both great! Delicious food for the price! I noticed they are cheaper than alternative restaurants and I was blown away by their menu! It is not a huge sprawling menu but truly every single item on it is amazing, you can close your eyes and choose something and it'll be so tasty and fresh. I really appreciated the southern Indian dishes like okra curry, so unique and only a place like this could pull it off. The place is very clean and spacious. They opened 3 months ago, the owner is always around and they are so hospitable and attentive with service! The bus boys clean up as soon as people leave so there are never dishes just sitting there taking away from the atmosphere. Two friends joined my spouse and me today (4/12) to try some of the interesting things we'd seen on Aroma's online menu. All of us left completely satisfied. The restaurant is not glitzy or fussy with theme decor. Instead the space is bright and clean, and the seating is comfortable. The focus is on service and flavor, and both are excellent. The onion dosa is intriguing and tasty, and the garlic naan and cheese naan were just as good. We also liked our appetizers, a ginger zest chilli chicken and a very well seasoned fried cauliflower. Best of all were the goat rogan josh, the shrimp tandoori, and the special chicken biryani (a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10). The delicious iced tea flowed freely. We'll definitely return to Aroma. (BTW, the kitchen will adjust the pepper heat level if you request that.) read more

How does this place have so few reviews? I've been there at least 4 times...2 within the same week. The dishe's flavors and ingredients make you feel like you have been invited into their home for a home-cooked meal. They also, without knowing, are adding a little Cajun to the mix in way of Lagniappe", which means "a little something extra". They sometimes provide a surprise desert with your meal, or gift you a mango lassi just for coming in, as many reviewers have mentioned. Give the Chicken Special Fry a try. read more

We had dinner at Aroma last night with another couple, who are also fans of Indian food. The ladies both ordered Palak Paneer, one husband had the Butter Chicken and my husband had the Chettinad with lamb. All of the dishes came with rice and generous amounts of very yummy naan. The food and service were both outstanding. Also, there was not a long wait for our food. It was our first visit to this restaurant and we will definitely go back. It was great!
