    Tough and fishy Tandoori Salmon
    James L.

Bismillah is my usual go to spot for Indian food in Lafayette. But in past I've said I wouldn't mind trying this place after reading the reviews. So I placed an order for the Butter Chicken and the Tandoori Salmon through a delivery service ( I didn't want to deal with the Mardi Gras parade traffic). Well my review isn't going to be as glowing as many for this place. The butter chicken was okay. But only had like 4 or 5 cut up pieces of chicken chunks. The salmon on the other hand was horrible. Way overcooked (Look at the picture) and smelled fishy. It tasted as bad as it looked. Total waste of money. I will never order from this place again. I should have stuck with Bismillah Groceries and Kitchen on Congress Street.

DI Hot And Sour Non - Veg Soup + Basmati rice

Flavor City I ordered through DoorDash it I will def be back for an in person visit. Packed with flavour and actually hearty for curry. Meaning, the actual curry was hearty. The first dish was the Hot and Sour Soup. Full of diced/minced veggies. More of a broth style consistency with the fluid of the soup. So good! I also saw curry in the menu and had to give it a try. I chose the Coconut Shrimp Curry. Good portion of shrimp in my opinion. Usually places give you 3 or four it seems. The curry has is cooked in a coconut sauce with curry leaves and cilantro. More dense curry and the best I have had so far. Will be back and would give 7 stars if they were there

    CHICKEN CURRY SPECIAL, Garlic Naan

The chicken curry was full of flavor and spice. I got the medium and it was definitely plenty spicy. The rice was cooked perfectly and the garlic naan was to die for! This is definitely the best place for Indian food in Lafayette that I've had so far!

Food was tasty but the we waited about an hour. The restaurant wasn't busy and it was lunch hour 12-1. The nan bread is phenomenal.

Great lunch buffet. They have plenty choose from. The goat was one of the best things on the buffet. Everything had excellent flavor the earthiness from the cinnamon made the goat fantastic. Only downside is the food could have been warmer the chaffing dishes wasn't enough to keep it hot. The service could have been better. There was one guy that was running around trying to do everything but he couldn't keep up. But it wasn't horrible. The restaurant was very clean We will be back

So, I'm officially old fashioned . The first thing after a welcoming greeting was a presentation of a small piece of paper with a scan code that was supposed to be our menus. My guest had never been anywhere except for Indian buffets ( I absolutely hate ALL buffets) and I was trying to introduce him to real Indian food. Kudos For our server as I immediately changed the game plan, and begin ordering an arrangement of dishes by actually talking to our server about what the kitchen was good at providing their patrons. We ordered garlic naan, saag paneer, Tandoori chicken, lamb vindaloo and a yellow dal. Our waiter took the order without writing anything down. He was helpful and was able to give us a choice of beers with our meal. Bottom line? the food is damn good! The service was great. The ambience was a neutral decor-functional and clean. The men's bathroom was clean and functional...similar to the dining room. Would I go back? Yes!

My wife and I have been here for an hour. All we have received so far is water. It is freezing cold inside this restaurant. They haven't checked on us since they took our order nearly 45 minutes ago.

Priya puts a lot of care and love into every single dish and you can tell that she truly wants everyone to have a good experience. That said, upon arrival, we did wait about 10 minutes before the server finally came over to take our orders. This place is extremely understaffed given the demand so the food also took a while to arrive at our tables. We ordered the butter chicken and the yellow cauliflower, two dishes that were warm and flavorful but not completely transformative. The roti bread was also a bit underwhelming as it lacked flavor and puffiness. The naan was a little bit more promising but given the price point--left much to be desired. We also noticed that all drink options are grab-and-go but nobody tells you that when you walk in. (We figured this out after watching a few of the regulars grab their beverages from the fridge.) One high point is that the service was friendly enough and there was a complimentary soup brought out to the tables before the meal is presented. All in all, while it is easy to enjoy the samosas and hummus dips sold by Priya at the farmer's market, the dining experience of being in her actual restaurant needs a bit more fine-tuning. 5/10 for this one ~

The mains were the Masala, and what can I say, but flavor perfection spicy but you can still taste all of the seasoning, and the garlic naan that went with this another level, then the fish pomfret, yum especially with the sauce, and lightly grilled onions was one of the better fish dishes I've had, a little salt for perfection, however put it all together with the naan and you have one delicious bite, the lemon rice with nuts was definitely a twist that were not used to but in a good way. The chicken biryani was wonderfully fragrant and full of flavor, with tender pieces of chicken and perfectly cooked basmati rice infused with spices. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, slightly sweet, and incredibly comforting -- the kind of dish you just keep going back to. The garlic naan was soft, warm, and full of garlicky goodness (without being overpowering), perfect for scooping up every bit of sauce. Portions were generous enough to enjoy leftovers the next day. If you're looking for a satisfying meal at a reasonable price, this is a great choice. Better flavors, prices and portions than Destination India in my opinion.

I also ordered the chili chicken I've usually had Sichuan style so I didn't know it would come in sauce but it was really good! Not too spicy. For my main I got the malai kofta and paired it with the paratha. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. The dumplings were perfectly spiced and soft. Then I remembered this Indian restaurant that I tried before, even though my husband has not. I visited this place back when it was still smaller and had not expanded yet. I still remember the food being delicious so I was really excited to come back. We went around lunch time and it was not too busy. We decided to do the buffet since I knew they added it after the expansion, but I never got a chance to return until now. The buffet was 19.99 per person. I am not sure if that was a holiday price or the regular price. The food was amazing and full of flavor. I really enjoyed the mushroom masala and the butter chicken. Their goat curry was also very good, the meat did not have any strange taste or smell. I do not usually like goat so I was hesitant, but this one surprised me and I actually liked it. The service was super nice and attentive. The server noticed we did not have naan because they were out at the moment, and when the fresh batch came out he brought it to our table right away. He talked to every table and made sure everyone was doing good, and he also listened to feedback. Everything was great, but me and my husband both felt that having a few more food options would make the buffet even better. The selection was still on the smaller side, although I do understand Indian food can be more expensive and time consuming to prepare. I do wish they had samosas and garlic naan. The regular naan is good but garlic naan always hits different. If you do not want buffet you can also order plates instead. After about thirty minutes I noticed a lot more people started coming in, which means this place is well loved and popular. Overall it was a good experience. The price is a little high for the amount of selection, but the food quality is top tier so it still feels worth dining in. We would definitely come back again
