While I grew up in Salem, NH - I loved to Los Angeles almost 20 years ago and every year at Christmas time look forward to my parents sending us Farmhouse Roasters Coffee at Christmas time. I wouldn't say we're exactly coffee snobs, but let's just say we like what we like, and enjoy nice dark blends. My wife and I have made it a bit of tradition to buy each other different types of artisan coffee around the holidays from many local shops, brewers, etc... and honestly, I think Farmhouse Roasters Farmhouse Blend beats anything out there. I feel like we're kind of "chasing the high" as we search for different coffees to try, and always come back to Farmhouse Roasters which is super consistent every time. Junk everywhere; open boxes partially emptied, random items propped on chairs rendering them unusable. Dust on every surface. Across the back, a giant black cloth tacked to the wall with random racks. Looks like a school bulletin board that's just being started. They apparently have musicians some nights and all the musical equipment is pushed against the wall. There's a large cushioned seat with an enormous banner filled up on to it, so no one could sit on it. I can't have caffeine because of a heart condition. The owners insist that their coffee is "naturally low in caffeine" and has "half the caffeine of most decaffeinated coffee". So I foolishly had a cup and suffered with palpitations for several days. A caffeine sensitive friend had a similar experience. We had bagels and they were just meh, nothing special. So I'll probably never eat there again and won't have their coffee (caffeine) but we'll probably buy the coffee for my husband and other friends. It's very good.
