Had a great experience here! I was concerned about the possibility of a wait because this place is so popular (especially on a Sunday), but they have online call-ahead seating, so we didn't wait at all. A couple of us had the banana nut French toast, two had the chocolate chip pancakes, and one had the Baja Grill. All the food was fantastic! Just really fresh and very tasty. We visited Ellie's for breakfast recently after a recommendation. Sad to report it was not good. We were immediately served some apple slices dusted in cinnamon sugar. Nice unexpected start. My wife and I both ordered Eggs Benedicts, my wife with ham, mine with their own corned beef hash. This is where things took a downward swing. First, both dishes came out without Hollandaise sauce. We pointed this out to our server who apologized and immediately took both back. When they came back out the Holladaise looked broken. We decided to accept them as opposed to sending them back again, and the taste was off, with a slight sour hint. I mentioned this to the owner/chef who checked on us and he was surprised and told us he would check the sauce. We never saw or heard from him again. The corned beef hash was shredded corned beef mixed with hash brown potatoes, with the potatoes dominating. It lacked flavor. One of my eggs was over cooked, with a hard yolk. The accompanying homefries were nice, maybe the highlight of the meal. On the plus side, our server, who told us up front she was new, was very good. Caro (our server) was great! We had been here once before so we had an idea about the menu. Caro helped with suggestions and made the experience a truly better one. We arrived a half hour before they closed for lunch time but were reassured that in no way that we had to hurry and leave. In fact others arrived after we did. Such a great experience. Now the food. It was good and my first time going was on Father's Day . It was packed I got lucky and got a nice server very attentive . Her name is Alisse. Pictures speak for themselves so I'll post what we got . Ellie's Farmhouse Sometimes when a 35 minute wait turns into an hour it's because a place is awesome. Sometimes it's a massive letdown. Today was the latter and my first negative review. We tried out Ellie's for the first time. The eggs were supposed to be over medium and were didn't even make it to over easy. They were super runny and the whites weren't fully cooked. They were more like under easy and the peppers and onions were crunchy / not cooked. We did like the sausage and bacon and the French toast was ok enough but definitely skip the hash browns too. Unseasoned and bland. Add in that the woman seating people seemed to hate her life. It came off rude to many how she was directing people to the back waiting area "I can't have you all here" We are for sure "one and done" and after I typed this all out it hit me they're technically in Methuen but darn it, I am still gonna post it. Per usual there was a wait here which was totally fine as it went by very quickly. They now have a waiting area which we didn't go to but it's there. The restaurant wasn't overwhelmingly packed and we can hear each other speak. It's pretty cozy in there and I like the rustic design. I had brunch here and I stuck with the chicken and waffles as my first time trying this combo was here, and it did not disappoint so I stuck to what I know. One of my companions went for the farmhouse platter, which came with crispy tots and sausage links. The tots were a definite highlight (blast to my childhood so good). Another friend ordered the avocado toast, and unfortunately, that was a bit underwhelming. The avocado wasn't seasoned at all, which made it pretty bland. Also, toast should be toasted, but this was soggy from the get-go, which was a bit of a letdown. I tried their cold brew flight, flavors: creme brulee, cookies and cream, pumpkin pie, and Baileys. Won't be going back, because: Even after asking to change our seats because we couldn't hear one another, they moved us to another noisy spot .. even though we were later told that there are quieter spots - the place is LOUD !!! The food is very salty - my order had apprarently been sitting for awhile, as my sausage biscuits, eggs, and hash brown were only lukewarm. Why do the use plastic cups for the water - more unnecessary plastic waste? About the plastic - hot sauce doesn't come in a bottle, it comes in a throw away plastic cup. And, be warned - this ain't Tabasco or Franks - it is fiery hot and they don't mention that. It's gonna more than get your attention. No soap in the Men's Room. Did I mention how noisy it was at 9:30 am on a Saturday morning? My friend and I could barely hear each other. You've probably guess that I won't be going back - too many other better choices. We tried Ellie's on a Saturday morning around 9:30 am. I was convinced we were going to end up waiting but we were seated right away by a super friendly hostess who greeted us right away. I was immediately in love with the decor! There is a little rustic bar area if you don't want to wait for a table & we talked about how we wanted to try it out next time we came We ordered a coffee with kahlua & almond milk & something called a wake up special or something like that! It was coffee milk chocolate & something else - over ice. So good!! I decided I need to try one of the flights they have next time. Out server, Brandon, was incredibly kind & friendly - and patient! We literally had no idea what we were ordering and he calmly explained things to us. I'm fairly impatient so I was impressed with how calm he was. Everything he brought to us was done in a good time frame. We never waited long for anything Food was amazing! The omelette is packed with fresh ingredients & the home fries were good - I do wish they would add onion or peppers but I get that's not everyone's thing We also got one of their breakfast platters that included homemade blueberry pancakes. They were so delicious! The only downfall to all of this was that we were seated near the back near the restrooms, which was a very busy walking area for us. I wanted to treat my kid to brunch so with the help of Google i found Ellies Farmhouse and i couldn't be happier i did. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile the restaurant was spotless and busy. Menu has plenty of options and the server Kassidy was outstanding (recommend you ask for her) sugar coated apples were delicious and all the food you can tell was made in house the banana bread was amazing. Online ordering needs some updating. Specifically states to click WHAT YOU WANT ON YOUR SANDWICH. My sandwich came loaded with everything i did not want or ask for and i called and said your website states what to select. The worker told me the sandwiches always come loaded unless stated otherwise but there no button to select no cheese or no lettuce or no tomato... i called and they told me Basically to take a hike. My takeout order was also given to Methuen police and i had to wait 10 minutes for my food to arrive back to then receive my food. Terrible terrible terrible service. This past weekend, I visited Ellie's Farmhouse for breakfast and was disappointed to learn that one of our favorite waitresses, Kaila, was no longer there. After speaking with other patrons and employees, I was told that she had been terminated after missing work due to COVID. While I understand that Massachusetts is an at-will employment state and employers have the legal right to make these decisions, this situation felt deeply disappointing from an ethical standpoint. Kaila consistently provided impeccable service and was one of the reasons we enjoyed returning. Her professionalism, kindness, and attention to customers did not go unnoticed, as reflected in the many positive reviews mentioning her by name. What saddens me most is the message this sends about how employees are valued and supported. Businesses thrive because of hardworking individuals like Kaila, and seeing someone treated this way is both upsetting and discouraging. Because of this experience, I have decided I will not be returning. I sincerely hope management reflects on how important compassion and support for employees are -- not only for staff morale, but for the customers who notice and care. read more

On the run we needed a quick lunch. Ellie's was close to our location. They offer on-line ordering through their website, but by the time I entered my CC info, we'd be there, so I called in the order instead hoping to speed up the process a bit. The gentleman we spoke to was pleasant and efficient. Took my name and phone number for the order and done. Located in a strip mall I notice at the end of the building is a set of doors for "Ellie's To-Go" and figured that's gotta be for take away orders. And it is! There are several designated "to go" parking spots just past that entrance. The "to-go" area is a good size with a counter/order area to one side and a long dining counter and stools on the opposite side. Plenty of 'standing room' to wait for your order here as well. We paid for our order in this area and the woman who assisted us went to see if it was ready. We expected to wait as we had *just called it in. In short order the gentleman we spoke to on the phone arrived with our order. Yay! We both enjoyed our sandwiches. The reuben is tender, thin sliced meat. The saurkraut on there had a nice level of vinegar tang that doesn't overwhelm. The house made 1000 island dressing complements and brings the whole thing together nicely. I ordered the chips as my side and am very pleased by the brand they use. Good chips. Time to update Ellie's Farmhouse. We eat breakfast there time to time and its is still very good but here are some observations. -Pricey- Its nearly $50 for 2 people for a basic breakfast. -Portions are generally smaller than other restaurants- so the cost/ vers value is less. -They cook the poached/dropped eggs in advance, which is fine. They need to bring them back up to a hot temp before serving them. -Cheese in omlettes is a sauce which did not have much taste. -Hollendiase sauce was bland and light. It looks like they may add heavy cream to it? It was odd. Service was still very good and attentive. read more

Attractive restaurant with broad breakfast/lunch menu. First visit was Sunday 11:30 am, 30 min wait, they text when ready to seat you. Decent waiting area separate from main restaurant has coffee and takeout items, and keeps those waiting out of line of sight. I try chicken and waffles wherever I can, and theirs was good. Ellie's Farmhouse was by far our favorite restaurant in the New England area while we were visiting from Texas! The biscuits and gravy were so close to being truly Southern--I was seriously impressed. I'm so glad we stopped by this spot. If you're a local, please go often for us because I'm back in Texas now and still dreaming about that delicious breakfast. My only small complaint is that my coffee never got refilled even though I asked, but it was a busy morning, so I understand. Such a great place for brunch. Everything was fantastic. Service was great. It's busy but you don't feel like your server is over busy, I felt like we were her only table. The manager walked around checking in. Everyone was wonderful. Food was amazing. I don't love breakfast and I was with 4 others who do. Everyone found great options. From bowls, hash, meats, eggs cooked several different ways, pancakes, avocado toast, lovely options for bread/toast, burritos, sides, it was all so good. Mimosas, bloody mary's, iced and hot teas and chai. Honestly something good for everyone. I must share this experience. There was a very unhappy child at another table while we were there. They were very upset and unhappy and screaming very loudly for nearly 45 minutes, while it was not enjoyable it does happen sometimes thst children express their emotions so strongly. I'm sure this was hard for the family. I appreciated seeing the Farmhouse staff be professional and compassionate with them and other coustomers. The wait is long but, they have a to go area in the back to hang in while you wait; you can also order your mimosas and coffee there as well. We started with the breakfast egg rolls (greasy but good) 3.5/5. We ordered the fresh veggie bowl 3/5 and the barbacoa bomb-lette 4/5. The mimosa flights (4 per flight) have so many flavors to choose from. I got the mango, strawberry, desert pear and, pomegranate. Even though I asked for light juice, the flight was a little too sweet for me. 3/5. The crowd is the usual a mix of families and groups of friends. We recently had breakfast at Ellie's Farmhouse in Methuen, MA- This is a beautiful, large space, but gets busy quick so recommend coming earlier than later. Service was fantastic- our server was very friendly and attentive. For food, we ordered the Breakfast Egg Rolls which were great. The Cheesy Hash omelette was just OK- lacked a bit of seasoning, and the cheese sauce became more like a paste. Recommend their homemade hot sauce but it is SPICY. All in all, a great breakfast! This "Farmhouse" dining experience was a cross between a diner and country kitchen eats. My party of three was lucky to score a table almost immediately for breakfast, it was a weekday at 10:30am. Service was prompt and a nice complimentary appetizer of sliced apples, brown sugar and a hint of cinnamon was served to us as we waited for our meals. The menu looked promising given the variety of egg dishes, omelette options and specialty plates like the Barbacoa with eggs. Coffee was good and served in a large mug. I'm not sure if there were refills or not. We had the breakfast spring rolls to start but couldn't decide on the filling options. Then the waitress was kind enough to let us pick one of each flavor (spinach and egg vs sausage filling) this way we could try both. Then onto the entrees, this is when the dining didn't impress. The food was okay, nothing fancy or memorable taste wise; especially compared to my local neighborhood diner in NYC. Reading the menu, it had impressed us with the variety. But I was disappointed when my Barbacoa omelette came out. It was kind of dry and reminded me of a sad BBQ pulled pork even though this was beef brisket. It was dry and didn't seem like it was cooked long enough given the tough texture. Too much BBQ sauce even though I asked for it on the side. It over powered the eggs. Then the shock came when we asked for hot sauce. Many restaurants stock this condiment, as common as ketchup I would think. Especially for an establishment that serves eggs all day... You would think they'd have some. When the waitress returned, she said they didn't have any but could bring us some in house branded hot sauce so of course we said yes. Turns out it was not a complimentary condiment. We were charged $12 for an entire bottle of their store labeled hot sauce. That is absolutely ridiculous, and even more ridiculous since we were not told we were buying a bottle. So you can imagine our surprise when we saw it on the bill. When we asked the waitress about it, she said someone asked for hot sauce. She was not forthcoming about the cost so on top of the mediocre breakfast, we had to swallow this extra cost. Cleanliness: Booth bench had some liquid on it (?), table had crumbs all over, wall had gunk on it, menu was sticky. Price: For what we got, I don't think it was worth it. Style: Was charming with the farmhouse motif but didn't appreciate the uneven table surface that came with it, chairs were quite loud when moved (not a big deal but added to the experience). Ellie's Farmhouse has a very relaxed atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff. The restaurant and bathroom were clean and, being in a plaza, has plenty of parking. I got the biscuits and gravy because I'd never had it anywhere before. The sausage gravy was not too "heavy" and the biscuits were moist. I would definitely add it into my rotation of items to reorder. I found the prices fair/average at about $20-25 (including tip) per person. A healthy, but also, I'm gonna have a mimosa flight and some stuffed French toast kinda place where the meals are Instagram worthy, in addition to their aesthetic. I'm usually a boozy iced coffee kind of gal, but the various mimosas available - how could I resist. I think it was the guava that was the best, but I got all different flavors and I enjoyed all of them. Food menu - I mean when ya want to order 8 different plates that's a good sign. I ended up getting the fresh veggie bowl which was AWESOME and filling. My friend tho got the Baja grill and man.. that Barbacoa.... I need a whole bowl of that with whatever sauce is on top. That got me to ask, so what's brand of coffee do you serve ? it's Lavazza - I'm not familiar with it I guess it's a European coffee it's more like a Starbucks flavor then it is a Dunkin' Donuts This of course depends on what side you're on - I'm not a big Starbucks fan we ordered the regular so I cant imagine the bold I can understand why this is a popular place.
