Noise. Move the coffee, grinding machines into the back room. Having them out front is very, very noisy and very, yes noisy. I always hope whenever I go there that they will have figured that out on their own because it is so so noticeable and evident that the place is very very noisy. The ambience well there is none because the noise makes talking and having a restful cup of coffee with a friend very difficult. Why don't you put a cell phone on your counter or on a table and leave it on record for a while and then listen to it and you will see what I mean. My sister-in-law recommended this place after a visit to a butchery next door. She knew the place and said we try the soup but we were out of luck because they don't serve it during the summer. Rather than give up, I settled for Chipotle and her, Turkey sandwich. We were in for a surprise because they came hot and delicious. The best chipotle sandwich ever for me! My son who is more knowledgeable went for a Buffalo sandwich on the cold side. We drowned it with three of size 8 original smoothies, thick and tasty! I just want to say thanks to the owner and the amazing staff at Bean Towne Coffee in Hampstead, NH. The quality of the food and coffee is only surpassed by the level of customer service. They have such a relaxing atmosphere which I have greatly enjoyed and needed. I have been taking care of a terminally ill sibling the past two months and have been traveling from the Pacific Northwest. Taste:4 ive had the sausage egg and cheese on bagel and the cubano. Both were good. the breakfast sandwhich tasted exactly like heavenly donuts does. the cubano is not what i would consider authentic but its an ok version and did the job. Value: 3 they are a bit on the pricier end for what it is but not bad at all. Presentation: 4 everything I've ordered has been neatly wrapped in parchment paper and it is very cool nice neat and clean. Service: 4 friendly staff quick and easy transactions every time. I always stop by Beantowne for an iced latte or cold brew when I'm visiting my family in NH. I love that they have so many awesome rotating drink specials and delicious food. They also have a few spots to sit outdoors, spacious indoor dining area and great parking. Some of their bagels/sandwiches are a little bland, but still really good. I don't really like this place. I might be in the minority and that is fine. I am very much entitled to my opinion. This is Yelp..... The staff is stuffy, the menu is very limited and prices are high. Went to the place with my girlfriend and she ordered an iced coffee and a bagel. They told her they stopped selling bagels at 11am and it was 11:20am. I saw them on a shelf in the back but they refused to sell her one. Just stupid. Sell what you have to a customer standing in your store with money. Again, stuffy. read more

I have lived in the Hampstead area most of my life and love the small town atmosphere. We had our first Dunkin Donuts in '91 (ish) and that is what I grew up on... Who needs some "snoody" coffee shop where I'd most likely be berated by turtleneck-wearing poetry readers with their high-noses and collegiate attitudes? That was my opinion when BeanTowne opened -- So I waited almost two years before I went inside. I am now there 8 days a week and most likely have spent more on BeanTowne in the past year then I have on fuel for my car. Take it from me, a super-fan, raving fan, customer, and COFFEE LOVER (understatement) -- Check this place out. Arrived on a Friday afternoon around 3 pm for a late lunch. Found this on a google search of nearby restaurants. Cute setting and friendly staff. My friend and I decided to share two pressed wraps: the chicken chipotle and the cubano both in a spinach wrap. The cubano appeared to be made with slices of ham vs. pork, had very spicy peppers and a runny dressing. The chipotle chicken was very good. Slices of chicken breast, sauteed mushrooms, bacon and was our favorite of the two. Very reasonably priced, around $9.00 including a bottled water. We had to try the coffee based on the reviews. My friend ordered a regular hot coffee and the young lady commented "if it's not hot enough, we can heat it for you". That was an immediate turn off indicating the coffee has probably been sitting around for a while. A little disappointing based on the rave reviews about their coffee. I had a decaf and we both concluded the coffee was "meh". Along with our coffee, we had two sweet treats: an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and a vegan cookie. Both were OK, nothing to rave about. Glad we tried this place but would not go out of our way to return. read more

We've stopped by this spot for a reliably delicious bite a few times but they won our hearts on one particular visit. We take our dogs to the vet down the street and as often happens, we had to put one of our dogs down. Bloodshot eyes my husband requested some bacon on the side for our dog. We expected a stingy slice or two of bacon but reading the writing on the wall they generously gave us a huge helping of cut up bacon and sausage. It was a good last meal for a very good dog. read more

Who just drove past ten or so Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks during a 25 minute drive for a cup of coffee at Bean Towne? I did. And you can bet your sweet bippy I'm going to do again. There's nothing wrong with Dunkin Donuts coffee if that's the taste you're after; think of it like going to McDonald's for a burger when you could be eating a nice certified angus beef burger cooked to order. Sometimes you just want the Big Mac. Well, Bean Towne serves up the CAB of coffee: the only thing I think could make the coffee better would be if they roasted it themselves. They don't, currently, but the barista said they were currently taking roasting classes and roasting is on their "to do" list. We bought a bag of whole bean Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and it was a little dark roasted for my preference so I'm looking forward to seeing how they do it. I ordered a large Americano with four shots of espresso; usually their large has three. I watched as the barista ground the beans and tamped them to perfection pulling out even shots in about 20 seconds or so. Given my husband also ordered a quad Americano, I watched her do it twice. Fresh beans, proper grind, good pressured tamps = excellent crema and a coffee drink which isn't bitter or stale tasting. I'd swear to you that Americano was the best thing that happened to me all week! We both ordered breakfast sandwiches: egg, cheddar and sausage. It comes served on a bagel of your choice but I ask for a croissant and they gladly obliged. While the croissant was flaky, buttery and fresh tasting, the sandwich was better suited for the bagel as it "fit" and there wasn't any excess breading with the bagel. My favorite coffee shops tend to be casual and encourage loafing about while reading books or your laptop but most of the seating at Bean Towne are two-top tables with hard wooden chairs. Yes, there is a sofa and arm chair and yes, they have free WiFi, but the rest of the place is filled with two-tops. There was some local art on the walls and hand crafted jewely for sale too but the shop definitely didn't feel like a place I wanted to spend a leisurely weekend morning sipping coffee, taking in the newspaper and hanging out with friends. I'd love to see the wall space lined with cloth lined booths or vintage loveseats; it's about the only place Starbuck's is any competition and the only thing Dunkin Donuts has on par with Bean Towne. I will absolutely come back; I haven't found coffee worth mentioning and this place definitely delivers. read more

One of the best coffee shops I have been to. They carry some locally roasted coffees and have a great selection that is always well prepared. Service is friendly and they do a good job of moving the line quickly. There are many sandwiches and breakfast items to choose from. Bagels always go quick here. They have a frequent shopper card too which helps when you frequent it a lot! Nice to see this place thrive where other chains are always popping up. read more

This place is amazing. I've never been less than overly impressed with my food and drink there. They put Starbucks lattes to shame (and those are pretty yummy), and make me say "Dunkin who?" as their regular coffee is always just perfect. The food is always fresh and there is a great variety of healthy and just plain indulgently yummy. The other part to this place is the staff. They're always smiling, very friendly, and helpful. This place is just beyond wonderful. The staff is always smiling and happy to see you. It doesn't take very long for them to get your orders down (they know now when I go in that when I get a coffee I'll need the soy milk). Everything they make is delicious, and always fresh. They've recently added a bunch of new menu items including smoothies, and are constantly asking customers for feedback to find out what they can do to make things better. If you like incredible coffee, awesome specialty sandwiches, terrific atmosphere, courteous staff, etc. then you definitely should stop in! Their coffee won the Specialty Coffee Association Golden Cup Award. They have a menu of sandwiches (they change items on the sandwich, if requested). They also have weekly specials. They always have some kind of promotion going which is geared to help the community. They play really good music and have continuely changing art on the walls (local artists) which adds to the atmosphere. They also have beautiful jewelry for sale created by a local artist. The plaza (located near the intersection of Rt 121 & Rt 111) has many high-end shops. There is The Prime Butcher, The Wine Steward, a bakery, and Pentucket Bank. You can do most of your shopping in one location! I stop in all the time and have always had a positive experience. read more

I stopped into BeanTowne Coffee House & Cafe for lunch while working last week and was extremely impressed. I ordered a chicken sandwich, called Southwest, that had sour cream, cheese, pinto beans and avocado (I was in love as soon as I read the description; how atypical and refreshing). It was pretty darn good. But what sent me through the roof was the spinach side salad (the Protein Powerhouse) I got. What deliciousness. The balsamic dressing was killer!! It seemed home-made to me, and I'd be shocked if it wasn't. Next time I go, I need to find out if I can buy a jug of it! (Side note: I usually detest balsamic vinaigrette, so major props to this place for that :) I'll try to remember to post updates as I continue to try new things here. We stopped here for breakfast and were thoroughly impressed. This place is better than your typical Dunkin Donuts (and I love DD, so that's saying something!) Described by some as "the local Cheers, where everyone knows your name," the coffeehouse has a real small-town charm. The place is extremely clean and the food is fresh. Being from NY, I'm always skeptical of trying bagels outside NY, but the pumpernickel bagel was excellent. Prices were extremely reasonable ($1.95 for a bagel with cream cheese). The coffee stole the show. It had rich and complex flavors, and immediately evoked images of sipping coffee in the winter while looking out at the falling snow. It was delicious. Thrilled to be able to purchase an expertly pulled latte or some delicious french pressed ice coffee near the camp my husband's working at for the summer. This place stands out where the usual suspects (DD) abound. The yogurt parfait with fresh raspberries is really a delicious way to start the morning. Everyone is so nice here, too.
