their pain puri is still the bomb. perfectly spiced. i could eat just that. great restaurant but u have to eat the pani puri at the restaurant. no take out option.

Empty restaurant but they still said they couldn't seat us without a reservation (they eventually caved)

Decent food but the service is horrible and the portions are really tiny. The restaurant was totally empty but they tried to turn us away bc we didn't have a reservation. We convinced them to seat us by promising we'd leave in an hour. Our water cups were empty almost all night. And the food took forever to come out. The good dishes were the signature creme butter paneer and the sea bass. The fish amritsari recommended by the waitress was awful - hard and very over cooked. The lamb entree was meh. Definitely won't be returning.

I've been intrigued by aRoqa for quite a while, so one night, when I was craving Indian food, we came in. No reservations needed for a Tuesday evening. aRoqa is definitely an upscale Indian restaurant, with a smartly decorated interior and nice bar. We ordered chicken biriyani, butter chicken, and garlic naan (basic, I know). The chicken biriyani was a modest portion, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an addition of crunchy caramelized onions on to (reminds me of a Mediterranean dish). This dish is bone in, and the chicken is very moist, but there were some chicken bits (tendon?) that I found myself biting into that somewhat soured the experience. The raita was much thicker than I'm used to, more of a creamy sweet addition than the usual thin, refreshing raita. This dish was just ok to me. Butter chicken was amazing. Obviously this dish is always good, but it was really delicious here, we surprisingly finished off the entire dish and I found myself licking the spoon at the end. The chicken chunks are large and juicy, but you'll need to cut them with a knife. Garlic naan was delicious - crispy, brushed with butter, incredibly flavorful. Just wish there was more to soak up the delicious butter chicken sauce. Service was very attentive, our waters were filled very quickly. Overall, solid meal. I'm not sure the slight elevation of Indian food is worth the hike in prices, but your options are somewhat limited in the area. I'm not dying to go back, but it definitely hit my Indian food craving.

Went here last minute for an anniversary dinner! The Sunset cocktail was delicious and crazy flavorful and the food was cooked perfectly! We were so happy with the service, our waitress Catarina gave great advice on what we should order, and she gave us a small side of masala sauce with our naan because she heard me say I enjoy dipping! The ambiance is romantic, with dark walls and warm lighting, and we did not feel on top of other diners.

Date night w/ the ladies and this was the spot chosen. This place is really a date night spot, it has that dark and moody look. Anywho, the drink of the night was the gin cocktail called a cultural impact. I was fan and probably would drink it all night if my liver would be okay. For food, it was a hodge podge of food for all. Our waiter was helpful and gave a bunch of suggestions. Chicken tikka masala Butternut squash ke kofte Lots of garlic naan There were a few other things but I can't remember the names. I was a happy full patron by the time we were done.

Nice place in the neighborhood. Decor is quite modern and ambiance is nice and relaxed. We booked the place last minute looking for something outside of our usual "dining zone". The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu has enough variety without overwhelming you and has a nice selection of veg and non veg options. The appetizer plates are perfect for two to three people but if you have more people, consider ordering two portions (usually comes in two or four pieces). Shared entrees are generous. We love Indian food but it's hard to find Indian food that uses higher quality ingredients - many places put too much cream or uses lesser quality chicken parts etc. you can taste the difference here - definitely better ingredients used. We tried the mushroom appetizer (Kataifi mushroom) which I highly recommend, and we also tried the dry pepper prawns - if you don't like heat, don't order this. For our main, we shared a chicken tikka masala - very good - reminds me of the kind you get in India, less like the over creamy ones here. The bread basket is a must try - if you can't finish it, bring it home! The basket will easily feed four people. With the basket, you can try all the variety of naans you get. If you have room, the dessert menu is pretty special. We ended up sharing the Coppa Pistachio - special chocolate and pistachio gelato with some sort of coconut mousse or something - amazing! We will definitely come back to this little gem.

Kind of disappointed in this place. I wanted some Indian food and this place came recommended as a great modern Indian spot but ultimately didn't live up to expectations. It's definitely got that modern vibe with a contemporary decor and a nice bar. We were seated pretty immediately which was good given it was a Thursday night. We started with the Paratwala Paneer and Corn Paddu to start. Both were very good and had a playful presentation to them. A lot of different flavors going on and it was pretty good. Then we got the chicken Tikka masala and the butternut squash ke kofte. The Tikka masala was very sweet and almost inedible because of how sweet it was. Almost ruined the entire meal for me. The kofte was nutty and flavorful and thankfully although it had some sweetness it was much better balanced. I think as far as Indian restaurants go, you could do much better.

We were seeing a show and needed dinner in a fun and delicious spot. ARoqa really delivered. Modern fun delicious Indian food presented in super unique ways. They are know for their mushroom appetizer which we ordered. It wasn't our favorite but what do we know? We ordered a bunch of other apps each came with a fun sauce. The corn fritters were fun and good to share. The chicken tikka masala and chicken Biryani were my favorites. The service was helpful and polite. Of course we ordered dessert - the fried balls of heaven in a rice pudding. Perfect way to end the meal.

This has become one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. Price: It's a bit pricey and many of the portions are small for the price but the taste of the food definitely makes up for it. Drinks are also pricey but they are unique. Food: The food is amazing! I highly recommend the Lasuni Gobi and the Vegetable Sweet Potato cutlets as appetizer choices. For entrée, we usually get the Dal Makhani and the Palak Paneer. The Okra special is also really good and I thought the Butternut Squash ke Kofte were unique and different. Overall the food here is very tasty, well seasoned, and a nice balance. Also, I'm not usually an Indian dessert person but aRoqa really knows how to make them and we always end up getting 2-3 desserts because of how delicious they are. Service: Everyone is so friendly and open to answer any questions. They check on you often and service is quick. Ambiance: The restaurant is beautifully decorated in a tasteful way. Everything seems to go together and they have even spent time figuring out the best dishware to serve the food in. The bar is classy and elegant. It's a good pick for date night or even a group dinner.

Imagine a variety of flavors and spices coalescing on your pallet. Every single thing we tasted was delicious and with a gorgeous presentation. Considering the small tapas style plates with high prices, it was expensive. But if you can afford it, it was an amazing culinary experience. The service was attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. The decor was pristine amd classy. Well done!

Came here with a friend for Sunday brunch. Loved the black and gold interior design and ambiance was nice and chill. Ordered a cheese toast, paneer Mac and cheese, and Frankie's roll to share. All the dishes are super flavorful, the Mac and cheese has a hint of pumpkin flavor. The rolls are filling and fun. Service was nice but a bit slow. Most menu options are pretty special and niche. Would definitely come back to try more dishes!

Ambience 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5!! From the moment I walked in, the romantic ambiance set the perfect mood for a delightful evening. The creativity in each dish was truly impressive; every plate was a work of art bursting with flavor. The friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcomed and ensured we had everything we needed. I enjoyed every dish and left with a heart full of satisfaction. I can't wait to return for more culinary adventures!

Going Sunday for brunch w/ my family, Curious if we're able to order from the regular menu During brunch? Or is ordering limited to the brunch menu? Specifically speaking about appetizers...

I went there for lunch and I ordered from the lunch specials and the regular menu. So I would say, yes, you can order from the brunch and regular menu. Only issue I had on a weekday was they opened an hour later than the open time displayed.

Is there outdoor seating? Do you label GF items on the menu? Thx!!!!

Yes We have Outdoor Seating. All Gluten Free, Dairy Free & Vegan items are labeled as appropriate on…

Do the bun omelette and masala omelette come with a side salad? Thanks

Is brunch BYOB for large groups?

    No it's not BYOB

How's the happy hour ?do they have food at happy hour?

Aroqa offers full menu at the bar till 10 PM

Is any of the meat halal?

    Yes, the meat is Halal

Is Chef's Special Non-Vegetarian Thali option available for Sunday brunch?

We can make it for you if you like. aRoqa

Does this place have a Pre Fix dinner option?

No they do not. They have a small plates part of the menu and then an entree section. No prefix options that I saw when I went last week! Hope this helps!

However, sometimes you just take a chance and pray it lives up to the hype. Having a short period of time before our show at Radio City Music Hall, two of us shared a quick bite here after a few snacks on the nearby street fair. Just one order of Chicken Tikka Marsala, Garlic Naan, and a Mango Lassi. I'm actually not a big fan of Chicken Tikka Marsala because it's often too sweet and creamy for me. Though the chicken was overcooked, I did find this version quite differernt, in a good way. It had depth, and definitely a lot of heat, even on the medium level, the spiciness was very noticeable. My dining partner would have died without that Mango Lassi, which was yummy. Lmao On the other hand, the Garlic Naan was horrible. Instead of being a pillowy soft bread with some chew, it was stiff and cardboard-ish. This is one of the worst versions I had in NYC. Not sure how this major blunder can be overlooked. Naan is such an important part of Indian food culture, I can't believe they haven't realize that they need to fix this matter. Btw, service was efficient, almost too efficient that it felt rushed. One minute after we were seated, we were asked if ready to order. Again, we were asked literally one minute later. Then, just as we were finishing our meal, and while I'm still chewing my final bite of food, the bus boy cane to take our plates away. I was technically done, but would have like to have had a minute. Finally, without asking about desserts, another server came by with our check as if to say, "Please pay and make room for the next guests." I know we wanted a quick meal, but never thought we would be in and out of a situation down restaurant in less than 30 minutes. Hahaha Anyway, I live in Queens where we have same quality Indian restaurants at a much lower price point. Portions are bigger too. For me, this is an attempt at finding a gem that everyone seems to suggest. Unfortunately, it's hard for me to return to an Indian restaurant knowing they can't properly make naan.

Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday. $46 for a 2-course brunch is a great deal for an elevated meal, especially since the two courses come with a side ("accompaniment"). Quick heads up if you've been to the original in New Delhi, while they share a name, the New York experience pales in comparison. New Delhi is a full tasting menu with bold, unique flavors and presentation. New York is much more westernized, a fusion fit for the American palate. Service was consistent throughout, though not the most helpful when it came to menu questions - don't expect much guidance if you're trying to decide between dishes. They start you off with a tiny mug of pumpkin soup, creamy and delicious. The burrata comes as a big ball of cheese with crispy lotus root for scooping. The dal with naan as your accompaniment is a generous portion and the dal is beautifully flavored. The tawa paneer has a lovely presentation but the flavor didn't stand out. Coorg black pork was moist and paired perfectly with the cracklings. Best part of the meal was the Truman Bazaar cocktail - Truman vodka, suze, and tomato foam. I believe there are other Indian Accent locations in India, and was excited to try their NYC spot. We went on a weekend evening around 5pm and had a really enjoyable experience overall. Nice ambiance inside, didn't feel overly packed where we were sitting. Service was great for the most part. Shane, our main server, stood out and he was SUPER helpful in walking us through the menu and making thoughtful suggestions. That said, it's definitely a team-service setup, so multiple staff members will assist your table throughout the meal. Everyone had great energy and made the experience feel polished. We did the prix fixe menu and went with 3 courses each across our group of 3. Two of us opted for the "midis" and one went for dessert, but we ended up sharing everything. Even though the portions initially seem small, we were surprisingly full by the end. One important note: go into this with an open mindset. This is not your typical, "generic" Indian food experience - it's much more modern, creative, and experimental. We did a lot of research before deciding what to order, so here's what we got/ordered: Amuse bouche (complimentary): A pumpkin shorba (soup) served in a cute little cup and blue cheese naan. Both were a great start, and we actually asked for more of the shorba. They said they'd bring it, but it never came, which was a bit disappointing, but still appreciated the palate cleanser concept. Appetizers (ordered 3): * Phulka jackfruit: Kind of like a taco - really nice flavor with these crispies on it and a nice sauce. * Kashmiri morel mushrooms: I'm not usually a mushroom person, but this was excellent. Loved the creamy base and overall flavor. * Potato sphere chaat: Probably the weakest of the three. It was more sev than potato, and didn't quite hit for me. Midis (ordered 2): * Yogurt kebab: Very interesting texture with a nice chutney base * Sweet pickle pork: I didn't personally try it, but the other two in my group loved it Mains (ordered 3): * Sweet corn vadai: Really unique and flavorful - one of the standouts * Paneer kofta: Not my favorite; different from what I expected * Chicken tikka meatballs: Surprisingly good! I don't usually love meatballs, but these had a great texture and flavor Accompaniments (ordered 3): * Butter chicken kulcha: Easily my favorite - would come back just for this, but note it can be a little "greasy" * Daal with black garlic naan: The naan was unique with a slightly sweet taste; the daal could've used a bit more depth * Chana masala kulcha: A little spicy but still very flavorful Dessert (ordered 1 + 1 complimentary): * Banana sticky date cake: A lovely, satisfying end to the meal * Makhan malai (complimentary for a birthday in our group): Very airy and unique texture - not really for us personally, but appreciate the team supporting our birthday celebration We skipped drinks even though the menu is extensive - we wanted to focus on the food Overall, I really liked this place. The dishes were a mix - nothing was outright bad (except maybe the makhan malai for our taste), but not everything was a hit either. Still, it's a fun, elevated dining experience with creative takes on Indian cuisine. I'd definitely go back, especially for the butter chicken kulcha. Only real miss was the forgotten re-order of the amuse bouche, but otherwise service and vibes were strong.

There is a reason for the line: Annapurna Bhavan is good. It's not amazing good, but it's better than any of the Saravanaas locations in NYC. The food here is commendably non-greasy, like what amma might make at home. And the decor, AC, and clean bathroom also make the overall experienced far more civilized than the competition. The masala dosa is crisp and light, filled with a basic, but well made aloo masala, mostly just turmeric-tinged potato and black mustard seed. No nuts, peas, dal or even alliums, I don't think. (Please double check on the alliums if you follow a Jain diet.) The accompanying sambar is thick with dal. I personally enjoy a slightly soupier consistency, with more vegetables and more tamarind -- but of course that's completely a stylistic preference. The FIL loved it. I missed the tomato chutney that often comes with dosa. (It's summer for goodness sakes! I want my tomatoes!) There was standard issue coconut chutney on the side. Sambar vada was well made, a generous portion made with the same thick sambar that comes with dosa. We also tried the bhindi masala, which was so-so. Flavors were balanced, but a good portion of the okra in the dish was burnt and rubbery, unfortunately. Not sure what happened there. Drinks: Rose milk was VERY sweet. (I wish I'd thought to ask for another glass of plain milk to dilute it.) They have a brief, but decent wine list including whatever crisp white wine the Pardner ordered (guessing it was a sauvignon blanc). I frankly don't love alcoholic beverages with Indian vegetarian food -- maybe I feel too sacrilegious -- but if you do, Annapurna Bhavan appears to have a full bar.

The place was exactly what we were looking for... Inexpensive, elegant, and comfortable atmosphere! The place wasn't busy. Amazing service and delicious food! The food was fresh and came out fast. Portions are generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry. I had the Lentil Soup as the first course and Aloo Gobi Matar as Entrée. Both were tasty, also gluten free, dairy free and soy free. Their menu offers a variety of choices, including options that are gluten free, dairy free, and soy free. I would definitely come back and suggest you give this place a try if you are in Hell's Kitchen or Columbus Circle.

A little corner of London magic right here in Hell's Kitchen!…read more If you've ever stood on a rainy London street, desperate for a bowl of proper Northern Indian food, you can stop romanticizing -- Jaz Indian Cuisine on Hell's Kitchen has that exact magic, and it's right here in Manhattan. The star of the show is Jaz herself -- the owner, hostess, and bartender all rolled into one wonderfully warm, charming British woman who somehow makes you feel like you've been a regular for years within thirty seconds of walking through the door. She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha? Pillowy, caramelized, absolutely yummy -- the kind of bread you'll be tearing into long after you're full. The flavors here are the real thing -- bold, layered, and unapologetically authentic. This isn't watered-down, please-everyone Indian food. This is the genuine article, executed with care and a distinctly British-Indian sensibility that you rarely find outside of London. Every dish tastes like someone's nana's recipe, if that nana happened to be a brilliant chef. Do yourself a favor: add some spice to your life and get yourself to Jaz Indian Cuisine. Hell's Kitchen doesn't know how lucky it is.
