OMG! So my goddaughter called and asked if I wanted to have dinner with her and her BF; I looked for a local spot using the Pulsd app, and found this gem of a place! Let me just say that they truly serve up some of the BEST Indian food I have ever had! The staff were very polite, courteous and attentive! The atmosphere was very welcoming and chill; great for families, friends and business dinners alike! As for a main entree, you MUST try their Chicken Tika Masala; truly the freshest meat and perfectly spiced sauce ever! I knew I made the right choice when I started off with their Lamb Sheek Kabab (again, perfectly spiced and very fresh delicious meat) and freeeshly baked naan bread. The lassi was great, thick and sweet which is how i like it. other place can be watered down and not sweet. I order chicken Madras and shrimp curry. chicken madras tasted more like curry to me and the shrimp curry tasted more like a cream tomato/carrot sauce. OMG this restaurant is awesome! We had the samosa chaat and chicken chettinad. The chaat was Mumbai-style, and incredibly authentic and delicious. The chicken chettinad is seriously addictive. (I'm craving more as I write this... and probably will keep craving this forever). Reasonably priced drinks made this the perfect dinner. The service was quick and A+. I ordered delivery for lunch. Everything arrived hot. They offer a lunch special, which includes an entree, rice, naan, and chickpea side. I got the paneer tikka masala and asked for it to be spicy. It had a pleasant amount of heat, but nothing overwhelming. The food was delicious. Perfect portion size for lunch, flavorful, and rich. The side of chickpeas was a nice surprise and was well seasoned. The accompanying naan was full size. I tried the cheese naan, but I think plain or garlic naan would've complemented the meal better. I also ordered vegetable samosas. An order came with three large pieces, which is quite generous, as most restaurants only include two. Very crispy shell and tasty filling. Your typical old school Indian restaurant. A fairly tired looking menu, with many many Indian dishes available. We wanted to go to a restaurant which was flooded due to a torrential downpour, that brought us here. I got the Lasooni Gobi appetizer and we also go a Bombay Chicken Biryani ($18.95). Nothing spectacular about the food, but nothing bad either. The place was quiet, and was relatively empty at around 2:30 in the afternoon. Awesome spot for Indian Food! A friend suggested we meet for lunch and it was a great idea. Right on the corner and the avenue and it's set up long way like most places in manhattan. Plenty of seating, mostly two and four tops. They might be able to accommodate larger parties but I would ask. Our servers were super polite and helpful with the menu. Food came out quickly and was delicious. The chicken tiki Marsala, curry and saag were delicious. The nan and roti was delicious as well. I was here for dinner last night and had really high expectations. Menu looked promising - not for creativity but feel good Indian food. Unfortunately, the server wasn't able to make recommendations from the menu. They didn't know what some of the dishes tasted like. In fact, when I asked about what a particular menu item tasted like, they said they don't really like that dish. When I asked if I heard it right that it's not good and they don't like it, they said actually I have never tried it. Then I requested for a server who knows the menu and can make recommendations. Anyway, I ordered one appetizer because it didn't inspire confidence that the restaurant was completely empty. There were no other patrons. The server insisted that I order an entree and I said let me try the appetizer and then decide. I ordered the crispy spicy cauliflower dish. It was a really weird cauliflower appetizer. Very large pieces of fried battered cauliflower - the batter felt a bit gooey and raw on the inside and because the pieces were so big, cauliflower didn't cook and also didn't soak any flavor the inside. I told my server and they asked if I would want them to remake it. I felt terrible but I was worried I'll fall sick if ate raw batter. So I agreed and apologized for having them remake it. The server complied but totally ignored my apology and seemed like they didn't want to talk to me afterwards. Unfortunately, when they remade the dish, it had the same problem but atleast this time it was crispy on the outside but slightly raw(less than the first time) on the inside. Their issue is that the pieces of cauliflower are so big that they can't fry/cook evenly. I was really hungry, tried hard but couldn't eat all of the appetizer. Mild and tasteless food. I have ordered delivery many times from here; a year ago, when I used to ask for the food to be very spicy and hot, it was, and it was great. But the last few months, no matter what I said, "make super hot and spicy like India"; it does not matter; it is very mild and, to my tastes, therefore bad. The other night was the final nail in the coffin of mild food. I ordered vegetable vindaloo, as their menu says--vegetable medley cooked in fiery hot sauce. served with rice. Thinking, "Well, it is usually a pretty hot dish--how can they make it mild?" But they did, even though I asked to make it very hot. I know what properly prepared Indian food should taste like; I have visited India many times; I have lived there for months at a time; I was married into an Indian family. Bombay Grill House does not have any idea how to make traditional normal Indian food; they only make a mild rich New York version. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't hot. To make matters even worse, first they send Chicken Vindaloo, as a lifelong vegetarian, that was not a nice surprise. They then sent the correct dish. But I ordered their delivery special, which is a good deal for like $20: as their menu on Door Dash says, "Choose one appetizer and one entree, served with naan bread, basmati rice, raita, and chutneys. The portions are smaller than regular menu." The portion size works for me, but there were no raita or chutneys included. So I was eating dry veg pakoras. Also, for me, the naan was not cooked enough and was too doughy. But I could live with these mistakes; it was Vindaloo was actually hot. I learned my lesson, and I will never order from here again. Basically, Manhattan Indian food sucks, and I will just stop eating this mild discusting rich, creamy, oily bunk. Maybe I'll take a day trip out to Edison NJ. and get authentic Indian food. read more

I am not an Indian food aficionado by any means, and this is basically the only place I've eaten from in the area. Quite frankly, I have no idea if it's the best Indian food in the area, but I do think it's pretty damn good. I think the thing that keeps pulling me back to them is their delivery deal. For under $20, you get an app, entree, bread of your choice, and rice. That basically makes two meals for me, so I'm here for it. Entrees I've tried include: Chicken curry - it's ok. The white meat chicken in this is just not tasty Lamb curry - my favorite thing to get. Tender and flavorful, mild in spice Lamb vindaloo - not for the faint of heart. I have a medium spice tolerance and it was practically unpalatably spicy for me. So proceed with caution Apps: Lamb sheek kabab - very good Lasooni gobhi - soooo good! Slightly addicted to this. It's almost like a General Tso's cauliflower but less saucy. It's practically a selling point to order from them I've never dined in, so I can't say anything about the ambiance. Delivery times can be kinda spotty even if ordering directly from the restaurant. Have waited about an hour a few times even though they're not that far. So, if you're starving, keep that in mind. Other than that, I'd say they're a solid option. read more

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile, so I finally went with a friend for lunch. The space is nice and cozy, with exposed brick wall, beautifully colorful tapestry, as well as cool lighting fixtures. For my drink, I tried the Mango Lassi, which was a generous size. It was perfectly thick and smooth, tasting very refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. I decided to order the Tandoori Mixed Grill, served on a sizzling cast iron plate, which consisted of salmon, lamb, beef, chicken, onion, and other veggies. This was served with rice, along with peas. I also just had to get the garlic naan. There was only 1 piece of salmon, which I was disappointed about. The salmon was my favorite out of all the meats. It was well seasoned, slightly crispy, wonderfully tender and flaky. I also enjoyed the lamb, which was full of a variety of spices, juicy, and succulent. The beef and chicken were decent as well. The garlic naan was tasty with plenty of garlic flavor. It was also served warm and fluffy. There was a Free Dessert check in offer, so I took advantage of that and had the White Chocolate Rasmalai. This was made out of milk, sugar, pistachio, saffron, and cardamom. It was soft, fragrant, and very sweet. I did like the combination of saffron and cardamom. The addition of pistachio was a welcome one as well. However, I am not sure this is something I would order again. Service was solid. The waiter and staff were welcoming and attentive. Also, the pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the Hell's Kitchen location. As far as value and great food go, Bombay Grill House is the perfect combination. I often enjoy going there for their great lunch specials, which lets you pick an entree, rice and bread for only $12-$13. During my last visit I got the chicken tikka masala with he garlic naan. For lunch time, the portions were quite plentiful. The taste of the garlic naan was some of the best I've had at an Indian restaurant. I also enjoyed the small, laid-back vibe of the restaurant. The appetizer (chat papri) was completely soggy, an authentic Indian restaurant wouldn't let the crisps stay in the sauce for longer than necessary. And the butter chicken was mediocre, sauce was terrible and instead of tandoori chicken type pieces that Indian restaurants typically use in their entrees, these looked like bland chicken strips out of a Trader Joe's package. I had the lamb kebab and mango lassi. The kebab spices were good but the meat quality/cook wasn't the best in my opinion. The mango lassi was mediocre I wouldn't recommend it. My friend had Paneer Tikka Masala and liked it. The gravy was spiced well. The service was fine although there was a weird moment when they just handed us the check when we were interested in seeing the dessert menu. The price was reasonable at about $30 usd for dinner+ a drink. The ambiance was very nice though. Super warm and good bollywood music playing from a TV where you could see the music videos as well.
