    Soup dumplings

Heard about this new dumpling place and it's pretty much across from Verona Park! Side street parking available and some in front of the place. The fried dumplings were tasty. The soup dumplings' dough was but thicker than my mom and I prefer and felt the filling needed more flavor. They didn't have much sliced ginger and vinegar either for dipping, which generally accompanies this dish in many places. Their hot and sour soup was pretty good but wishes it had more tofu, which I did ask about when ordering. However the bowl of soup came out lukewarm and we had to ask for it to be returned for reheating. Also ordered braised beef noodles but it was spicier than we thought it'd be and the noodles were thicker more like udon. Will have to try some of the I other kinds of noodles next time. Cute place and wish them the best! They have boba tea also and a variety of slushies, too.

I was fiening for some quick dumplings on my work trip, and I came across Bao with fantastic reviews. I actually ended up ordering off a menu without prices listed and I was very pleasantly surprised at how affordable everything came out to be. Great bang for your buck - you're getting about a dumpling per buck and they were delicious. The XLBs were decent as well, although half of them were leaking upon pickup. The boba was solid as well, but definitely not something to write home about. Stop by for dumplings, and you won't be disappointed. I wish I had one closerby.

Steamed or pan fried dumplings (5/5) Soup dumplings (1/5) Fried rice (2/5) Dropped by for lunch. Decent space and friendly staff. Wanted try it out in particular for the soup dumplings in hopes of not having to head out to Fort Lee. The steamed dumplings were a crowd pleaser we got the shrimp pork and chive. Good flavor size and texture. The fried rice was kind of just basic and not that great flavor wise. I don't prefer the soy sauce stir fried rice. More of the takeout feel. Soup dumplings were disappointing little to no soup and the dough is really thick. As a dumpling it's fine but sadly missed the mark as a soup dumplings. Sigh. Would drop by to pick up some noodles, boba or steamed dumplings but wouldn't get the soup dumplings again unfortunately . They also have the candied fruit skewers in case you want a sweet treat. Boba is around $6.55 for most. Price wise everything was fine. Space offers decent seating inside with two smaller tables outside and one bathroom. Street parking or nearby lot only.

Very nice chill place. Came to eat with my daughters on a weekday afternoon. I loved their soup dumplings and my kids loved their baos. Highly recommend!

I recently visited Bao Dumplings & Bao Tea in Verona, which opened earlier this year. The Chinese food offerings in the area are limited and don't go much beyond standard Chinese American takeout fare. I previously visited their location in Kenilworth (they also have locations in Fair Lawn and Hazlet) and it was good. So, I was excited to give this location a try. The interior is bright, clean and it should be, since it's pretty much brand new. You order at a counter, and they bring you your food. On this occasion I was getting take-out. The menu is larger than you might expect and has much more than just bao and dumplings. They also offer soups, noodles, rice dishes and wok fried specialties as well as a variety of appetizers. There is also a full selection of boba and slushes, fruit teas and lemonade. On this visit I was just there for the dumplings though. They offer a Bao Sampler Platter which includes 12 dumplings. Four each of their best-selling choices. Pork with Scallions, Chicken with Corn and Beef with Onions. You can get them steamed or pan-fired. I chose steamed. They also offer a few dumpling sauces. A mustard based one that has citrus notes and a slightly sweet soy-based sauce. The cost was $13.55 before tax, which is pretty reasonable for something homemade. Perhaps my expectations were unreasonably high, but frankly the dumplings just tasted ok. I enjoyed them, but they didn't stand out as being much better than what I might get at one of those Chinese American take-out places I mentioned early. The sauces were also just ok and seemed a bit thin and lacking in flavor. It seemed like they might have been watered down. The service is friendly, but the food does take some time to come out. I won't ding any restaurant for freshly prepared food though. What I will ding them for is choosing a location that has no parking at all. Beyond the two or three street spots that seem to always be taken, there is nowhere to park. Expect to walk at least a block or two (if you're lucky). In fact, the lack of parking is the only reason I haven't been back.

Really yummy food. We tried to fried dumpling platter, pork soup dumplings, shrimp and broccoli and the noodles with minced pork. Taro bubble tea was delicious. Everything was amazing. The noodles with minced pork could've been better but I didn't hate it. Also the waiters are so kind and attentive.

Taro Bubble tea and bao signature bubble tea (both delish!)

We are always so well taken care of by Jed, the Lead; Pat, the Manager; and Pupay, Owner and outstanding Chef! I am vegan and my partner is not, and we both love the tasty dishes we are served. We begin with a yummy papaya salad made vegan, with fish sauce on the side for Tom. Then we enjoy vegetable dumplings (last night deliciously fried!). Following that we both enjoy one of their their wonderful curries: Tom's red curry spicy, with vegetables and shrimp, and my red curry (vegan and less spicy) with vegetables and tofu (pictured below). In summer months, we always look forward to finishing our meal with their special mango and sticky rice! The restaurant also has a bakery open 6 mornings a week, serving a variety of specialty coffees and homemade pastries. Pho-king delicious…read more It was one of the coldest days of the year and we were craving a comforting bowl of pho (rice noodle soup) to warm ourselves up. We visited Vietnam Pho in Woodland Park, located on Rt 46. It's in a business complex so there's plenty of parking. It's a casual, cozy, and family-owned restaurant with a spacious seating area. The staff is welcoming and attentive. The menu offers all of the Vietnamese classics you're craving - steaming bowls of pho, vermicelli noodles topped with fresh vegetables, crispy banh mi sandwiches, stir-fries, and a variety of grilled meats like lemongrass pork and chicken. And if you're a boba lover, they even have bubble tea. Prices are reasonable, but here's a big tip: You get a 10% discount when you pay with cash. There's an ATM inside. There were a few hits and misses with our order, but overall we left feeling satisfied with our meal. The misses: *Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Condensed Milk ($5.95) - This was much sweeter and thicker than I expected! It tasted more like a dessert drink than an iced coffee. The condensed milk's sweetness overpowered the coffee flavor. I have a big sweet tooth, so I still enjoyed it. But if you're sensitive to sugar, you might want to skip this or ask for less milk. *Fresh Shrimp/Summer Rolls with poached shrimp, vermicelli, & peanut sauce ($7.95) - Not a fan. The rolls were bland and mostly just filled with vermicelli noodles. The peanut sauce was a let down. The flavors were off and it had a watery consistency. It barely tasted like peanuts. I don't know if they used too much vinegar or sugar, but either way... the ingredients were completely unbalanced. Now for the hits... We came for the STAR DISH: PHO! Every order comes with rice noodles, beef broth, white onions, scallions, and cilantro with a side of bean sprouts, lime, basil, and jalapeno peppers. We ordered: *Pork Chop Pho ($16.95) - I absolutely loved the lemongrass marinade (made with lemongrass, fish sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, & shallots)! The meat was juicy, sweet, and savory. I could tell the chef grilled it perfectly because of the smoky charred edges. *Rare Beef & Well Done Brisket Pho ($14.95 size small) - They did not skimp out on the protein here! The beef cuts were large, tender, and flavorful! The broth was the heart of the pho - aromatic, warm, and rich! The spices (cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, and coriander) made it taste even better. I always enjoy adding hot chili and hoisin sauce for that extra heat and sweetness. The noodles were silky smooth and soaked up all that beefy broth. Yum, yum! And you can't forget about loading up on the garnishes to add a satisfying crunch and more flavor in every slurp! Pho was the perfect comfort food on the coldest day of the year~

Didn't get a chance to try it out until yesterday and man, we were missing out. The yunnan rice noodle soups are so good, and different, from the more commonly found Asian noodles; ramen, udon, pho, etc. Not going to say that it's better than the others but it's absolutely fantastic that there's another option now when you just want a warm, comforting noodle soup. Especially since winter is coming. The setup is more akin to a food court than a restaurant so the small seating area is shared with Kam Man and all the tableware/utensils are plastic and disposable. There's a door to the outside basically right there though so unless you're seated to either side of it you get blasted w/cold air every time someone enters or exits. For my first visit I went with their "pickled pepper soup rice noodle w/beef stew" (A8) and it was very good. The soup was flavorful and the noodles were perfect; fresh & not mushy at all. And digging through the bowl was like going on a treasure hunt for lil' yummy morsels: a quail egg here, some wood ear there, a random piece of thinly sliced ham, good stuff. However, for those of you w/nut allergies, they do add roasted peanuts to some of their dishes so you'll probably want to tell them to not add them to your food. The only minor neg with the dish was that the beef brisket was a tad tougher than I'd like. But if brisket isn't your thing, they also have the same dish but with "beef roll" (A7) which I found to be an odd translation for basically thinly sliced beef. I was so enamored w/this noodle soup that I brought my wife the very next day. I went with the same soup base but w/fish fillet (A9) this time and it was just as good as the first time. I will definitely have to come more often to try out their other offerings. I also noticed that they have rice based dishes as well in case you get tired of noodles. So anyway, I'll definitely be visiting a lot more and I really hope they stick around longer than the previous eateries at this location. And while it would be nice (if not really feasible) to get your food in 10 seconds as their name implies, so far their food has definitely been worth the wait.

Our server took our order promptly, and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. However, service was inconsistent throughout the meal. We had to ask for water after being seated for quite a while without any being brought to the table, and the iced coffee I ordered never arrived. I'm not sure if it was missed or simply not heard when ordering. As for the food, it was enjoyable overall. The pho had good flavor, although the accompanying fixings were a little sparse compared to what I've seen elsewhere.
