Americanized Chinese food... pretty self-explanatory. I was in the area, feeling famished, ready to eat for a family of five. I needed something ASAP so I went with Chinese take-out. Is it super healthy? No. Is it greasy and filling? Yes. Is it budget friendly? Yes. The store is super tiny and is located on the very corner of the street, so it's easy to miss. There's only one table and a few chairs so it's mainly for take-out. I ordered a combo meal: boneless spare ribs + lo mein + egg roll and crab rangoon (8 pieces). Total came out to ~$22. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes. I really don't expect a 5 star meal from fast food places, so I would say my meal was average. I will say I was stuffed by the end! The crab rangoon was verrrrrrry good. The wonton wrapper was crispy and the cream cheese filling with the crabmeat was sooo satisfying. The boneless ribs came with a large portion of sweet and sour sauce. They could've been better. Most of the meats were on the dry side and not as tender. The lo mein... well, it was what you would expect lo mein to be. No complaints there. Overall, it's your average Chinese take-out restaurant. It doesn't stand out from the many others. If you're in the area and craving it, I can recommend this spot. read more

Just tried Verona Chinese Kitchen for the very first time. I'm a believer in first impressions. This was the first time, in a very long time that I can honestly say we had outstanding Chinese Food! Your typical Chinese food with a quality taste. Went to Verona Chinese for a late night meal. They were quick and friendly. the host was nice enough to chat and describe the menu to me. Nothing out of the ordinary but some special items like chow fun, chow mein, and scallop dishes. I ordered the shrimp lo mein which was excellent and a huge meal. A side of shrimp role and what i thought to be a small order of vegetable dumplings were enormous tasty dumplings. Wanted to try a new Chinese place since my family is new to the area. we ordered chicken with broccoli with garlic sauce chicken fried rice no vegetables and General Tso's chicken along with a wonton soup. everything was fantastic with the exception of the fried rice which was very bland. My other concern was with my order, I ordered a small order of everything and when the delivery guy came my bill was not what it was supposed to be I was marked down for large orders instead of small orders please make sure you are clear when ordering or you may have the same problem. I'm actually a bit torn here. Some things were great, some not so much. I will say this, delivery to North Caldwell was SUPER fast... but that was probably to the detriment of a bunch of items we ordered that needed more time in the fryer. The bad: The egg roll was soaked in oil and not crispy at all. The crab rangoon had awesome filling, but also was not crunchy enough. The scallion pancakes were rubbery and not enough scallion in them. The ribs were nice and meaty, and not really overcooked, but the flavor was just a bit too tangy. The good: This was probably the best general tsao's chicken I've ever tasted. My wife loved the chicken in garlic sauce. The steamed dumplings were great, and the dipping was was amazing. Overall, everything would be great if some things didn't just seemed rushed. A few more seconds of frying and the egg roll, scallion pancake and crab rangoon jump to the good category. read more

Was eager to try this place but have to admit, was overall pretty disappointed. the shrimp with lobster sauce was the saltiest I've ever tasted in my life & I had to douse it with duck sauce to even out the flavor. the egg rolls were greasy beyond belief to the point where Grease was dripping down my chin after every bite. Also had an order of spare ribs which were okay, nothing to write home about. I had egg drop soup which was pretty tasty I must say. and also had the lo mein which was also nothing to write home about. so when you start averaging it all out... only two stars for me. delivery time was average about 45 minutes. They run an efficient, clean and customer-otiented business and it's prepared well. The wings are choice: salty & crispy outside, moist, tender and meaty inside. I make my own dip for them at home (ketchup/soy sauce/hot sauce). Hot and sour soup is another of life's comforts; how else can you get wood ear into your diet? Now pick out a dish in the Specials for a mere $7.50 - including pork fried rice and an egg roll and you're good to go, with leftovers, all for about $16.00 - with a fortune cookie. Wanted to try a new Chinese delivery place one Sunday evening for a change, after living in the area for over 10 years and trying pretty much every other place. We were very pleasantly surprised how fresh, hot, and tasty the food was here! We ordered chicken and broccoli with brown rice and a small pork lo mein dish, along with some wonton and hot and sour soup. I just had my first meal for the Verona Chinese Kitchen. I thought the food was very good. In fact, there was a fresh and refined quality to my order. The won ton soup had a very delicate taste with a hint of ginger in the broth. The food wasn't terrible (not great either) but I can only give 1 star for very poor customer service. I placed my order with a MAN and when I discovered they sent the wrong dish I called immediately and spoke with a WOMAN. She insisted that's what I ordered which is odd since she's not the one that took my order! I even said "you didn't take my order" but she said she was standing next to the man when I ordered. So I guess she has bionic ears (that need cleaning). I've never even heard of this dish before receiving it in error but she refused correct it and I'm stuck paying for something I didn't order. Taking for granted a customer is not pleasant, we all know they have very reasonable prices but paying cheap, always meant that we had to stand the bad mood and poor customer service. This time though, they crossed the line, we brought home a vegetable chow mein and as a "plus" we found a thick long hair, when we took it back, they were very upset, they gave us a "clean" one, but I doubt I will ever go back. Excellent, fresh and not that gloppy ,greasy food you find in many of these small Chinese takeout places. The owners are very friendly and they actually seem to appreciate your business. Decent for east coast Chinese. Nothing spectacular. The cashew chichen had too many celery bits and not enough cashews. Could have switched the two in the mix and earned one more star. Chicken and broccoli was much better, chicken pieces were huge and nicely cut. Flavor was basic. Rice was well made and that earned a third star saving a two star rating. Spring roll sold 2 for 3 bucks, eh, one more world be better. I wouldn't go back unless I was really hungry and had to eat in Verona. Prices were too high for carry out.
