I love love love their happy hour prices. I was a little worried because we were on the way to the restaurant when I noticed I had to make a reservation online. I tried for the closest time but it gave me errors saying that it couldn't be same day reservations. We went anyway and were seated immediately. I had the regular margarita and we had mini chimis for the table. Tbh we should've only ordered those with the margaritas because there's 8 and they're a good size with cream cheese. However, we went overboard and I had the cheese crisp while my date had the chili verde. Way too much food for just the two of us but let me say, the cheese crisp held up well overnight. Never checked on us. Never asked if we wanted more drinks( we did). Had to ask for more napkins. Luckily there was another server working close by that was able to get us everything we needed. Asked if we needed a box. Yes please. Dropped off a box... that was it.. never asked to box it himself. Okay... can I have a bag? Nope that never came either. Once upon a time, this spot was the reigning champ of Mexican eats in Phoenix, but lately, it's been a bit of a wild ride. The last couple of visits have been like a comedy sketch. The first round, our server and I tried to communicate through a universal language of smiles and nods, but somehow I ended up with a cup of shredded cheese instead of queso. Eventually, someone else who spoke our native tongue (English) took over our table, and our original server vanished like a burrito in a buffet line. Round two was even more entertaining. We sat down with high hopes, got our chips (win!), ordered some apps, and then our server pulled a disappearing act worthy of a Vegas magic show. I had to play detective and track him down at the bar to find out where he'd gone. Another server came to the rescue, and miraculously, the vanishing act ended just in time for our original server to pop back up and ask how we were doing. Talk about timing! Props to the bartender who stepped up and saved the night with great service and delicious food--I always go for the Spinach Queso Fundido and the Chicken/Steak Fajitas here. The portions are hearty, and those complimentary chips and salsa are like a warm hug from abuela. Despite the server shuffle, the place oozes Mexican charm with its awesome decor and margaritas that could double as jet fuel (in a good way). We've been here many, many times before for the classic Mexican food. A lot of the food is New Mexico cuisines with spicy hatch chili's, and spicy flavors. Like most Mexican restaurants they serve free chips and salsa, and also have a side of spicy refried beans. Our most recent time here we ordered the following: Appetizers: Bacon wrapped shrimp: we were alittle disappointed in how small the shrimp were but overall it still had great flavor. There were maybe 6-7 mini shrimp wrapped in bacon which came with some kind of sauce (can't remember what kind) to dip the shrimp. We would get again but it was still tasty. Main items: * Combination plate, 3 items: cheese enchilada with green sauce, green corn tamale, and shredded beef taco, also comes with side of rice and beans. The cheese enchilada with green sauce on top was very tasty. Very simple and to the point. It's very hard to mess up a cheese enchilada, am I right? The green corn tamale however had a somewhat sweet flavor to it. It was still tasty but the sweetness threw us off a bit. The shredded beef taco was perfectly crunchy, the meat was flavorful and delicious. Beans and rice were also very yummy and filling! * Monterey Hatch Shrimp: This dish is sautéd shrimp in Monterey Jack cheese with onions and hatch chili's. It was very tasty! The perfect amount of cheese flavor without overpowering the shrimp. Just the right amount of spiciness as well! Lots of flavor! I would definitely get this dish again! * Drinks: Classic blended margarita, and strawberry blended margarita (pictured). I believe each is around $10 each and can easily be shared between two people. We ate the food before we were able to take any photos! Which should say how good the food is. Cockroaches! Went for lunch today and had the pleasure of a cockroach joining me at my table. I immediately got up and the server came over and whacked it with his serving tray (which he did not clean after). The manager came over to apologize and proceeded to tell me that they have an issue with roaches in the corner by the bathroom. Yet she still allows customers to be sat over there. Went to Arriba in Goodyear/Avondale for my fathers 75th birthday. Sat down and ordered everything. table next to us came in 15 minutes later. got their food before us. Server never came out to check on us. After 45 minutes I went to the front to ask about our order. We were told that they had a jam in their printer and the cook told them that they were missing a ticket. Our order came out quick after that, order was messed up as expected. To top it off they only took off 1 platter and $10 off the order. I won't be coming back especially with PoPo's across the street! read more

It was AMAZING as always. Food is always on point and our waiter was amazing. Drinks are always good too! Only problem was, I have a bad back so I always sit in booths because the softness is more comfortable. I sat all the way in the back; the booths that you have to walk up stairs to get to. We sat in the booth on the left hand side. I sat in on the side facing the patrons sitting below the steps. As I got in, the seat moved weird and I had to sit directly in the middle. As I got up, the chair went up and as you guessed, I went down. I fell hard and again, me having a bad back, it's killing me the day after eating here and falling onto hard floors. Y'all really need to get this fixed because this is a big issue waiting to happen. Fix it ASAP. I should've taken a picture of it. I usually go to the Ahwatukee location because I don't come to the Biltmore area very often, but I like this location just the same. I would normally get the queso Fundido. Arriba's gets 5 stars just for that alone, but this time we got the bacon wrapped shrimp. I won't do that again. They were tasty, but I expected some decent sized shrimp. These were the smallest size shrimp you could possibly get. Very disappointed My mother had the tostada with ground beef. She said that the beef was bland/unseasoned. Personally, I consider tacos/tostadas to be the most boring thing on the menu. Like going to Red Lobster and ordering a grilled cheese sandwich. But, that being said, any Mexican restaurant should be able to make really good basic foods... Now we're past the negatives, my White Sands Chimichanga was great! So few places will put green chili in a chimi. It is a wonderful package and it's smothered in Queso Fundido. So delicious I love their chips. Very light and crispy. The mild salsa is perfect. The bean dip is so good. Finally, the service is excellent. It was pretty slow we hen we visited, but we were never left wondering where our waitress was. 5 stars read more

We almost hesitated going to Arriba Mexican Grill restaurant not because of the food or service but money has been tight since 1-20-21 but today was a special day and we wanted an exceptional experience for our hard earned dollar. We were not disappointed. We were lucky and got our favorite waiter Luis. He has been here for years even though he may not know us but we know him from years of visits. His service was excellent as always and never disappoints. He was fast, funny, and witty and the level of customer service makes the visit worthwhile. We both had the Hatch Chicken was so deliciously hot and yummy. The prices are industrial standard. Nothing is worse is choosing a place to eat and you have a bad experience. Example fast food is not cheap anymore but if you choose to go to fast food to save a few bucks only to leave annoyed with cold food and uncaring privileged teenagers serving you because they feel their first job should be making 6 figures and be the CEO of the company. For a few more bucks you can have a nice dinner experience. My go to place for Mexican food. High recommended read more

This place has been around forever and it used to be OK. But good God it's gone downhill! Unfriendly service, super greasy and worst of all, our food had no other flavor but grease. In all my years of eating Mexican and New Mexico food, I've never had to salt it. I ordered the Chili Colorado which was supposed to be 2 spicy. It was so bland it was begging for salt. Let me just say the staff here is stellar! I was waiting in the lobby area for my take out and FIVE staffers asked me if I had been helped. (I've waited tables before & that's not always the case) Since it's a "cold" (under 60 degrees in Phoenix) overcast day, I ordered their Chicken Tortilla Soup to go. They are incredibly conscientious for to-go orders. The Tortilla Soup is the soup itself, then tortilla strips, grated cheese, avocado slices, with sour cream as a garnish. All were packed separately so that when I got home, I could assemble the soup so it was fresh, not a hodge podge. Soup has a tomato onion base with chunks of chicken & then the delicious additions to it. Hit the spot! They also packed a huge bag of chips & salsa, just like you get if you dined in. We I have been eating at Arribas as long as I can remember, even when it was called Andales in the past. It has always had such a cool atmosphere as if ur walking around a little village with murals and decorations throughout the restuarant. Theres always so many details to look at. The last abour 10 years since we have lived closer to it my Husband and I have gone her almost weekly for a weekend breakfast. This was the first restaurant we started asking for our preferred server when we come in. Originally we would ask for Oneida for a couple years, who was always very kind and fun and would sit and catch up with us sometime when it was slow. She was promoted to bartender later on so she wasn't working morning shift as often. After her promotion we started asking for Luis and Arturo and they both always did an excellent job. Luis generally worked more morning shifts and has become the person we ask for every time. He is always happy, energetic, and popular with guests. He is also very consistent and the food is consistently delicious as well. We love the bean dip with the chips especially. Sometimes it is more spicy than others and my Husband will say its because the chef was angry when they made it that day. The chicken platter he gets is always fresh and juicy in the morning and satisfies his carnivorous tooth. I have gotten in the past the spinach enchiladas, 2 a la carte or the green corn tamale with red sauce. My favorite is the tamale as the masa is very sweet and red sauce on too makes it so flavorful. They also don't overload their dishes with soupy cheese like some other places do. When we come in we ask for Luis, and once he sees us he will go start getting our drink orders because we always get the same thing. He also remembers our food orders to the point i just say yes when he says my order and if I forget he will remind me what I usually get. He always upsells margaraitas in a fun way and is very happy the few times we have gotten them. One time he even brought a sample of his favorite tequila he likes for us to try at home. He has also let us know that on christmas day he and his family will go deliver blankets and supplies to the homeless that they see around. He let us know this when he was telling us how our continued patronage of the restuarant and him allow him to do this annually. It was very special and made us grateful. It is an excellent restaurant, great price, excellent service with Luis. read more

I've been coming to this Arriba's for 20+ years!! I've known some of the staff here for a very longtime. I'm so appreciative of them providing me and other customers such great food all these years. This is the original Arriba's with cooks, servers and managers that have been here since it opened! I'm never disappointed by their food. It's always good! They also hands down have sone of the best servers in town that really care for the customers. I'm so thankful I get to eat at one of the best places in town!! ! Everting is good!!
