    Joke of a bean burrito
    Lisa G.

I have been to many Someburros locations and this one actually pissed me off. My friend and I ordered the tostada nachos and I ordered a bean burrito. The bean burrito was more of a tortilla with a ridiculously small amount of beans and literally no cheese. The tostada nachos also had very little beans. My picture definitely does not do this burrito justice! We are not asking for anything more than what we paid for and this order was a joke and an insult. Such a disappointment! Keep ripping people off and see how long you stay in business!

This place is interesting. And I'm trying to find a way to describe it in generous terms. Positives: it's nice and clean and the service was very friendly. You get a little tray of chips and the hot sauce was good. However, my meal was pretty generic. It just didn't have any personality. I think if the price point was lower I would be inclined to return perhaps. I can think of way better ways to spend 15 on lunch. (beach house down the street) That said, I was hungry and cleaned my plate.

Place was great before.went today, the ice tea was stale. The burritos made us sick when we got home. The bathrooms smelled of smoke. We want our money back.

I order bean tostado and when I got it home it had no beans. I wrote the company. I got a response from ADRIAN BLEUEL. Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry for the frustration with your order. First lie - I completely understand how disappointing it must have been to get home and feel that your tostada was missing the beans, especially after tipping and expecting everything to be right. "I did review our kitchen footage from that time, and I can confirm that a full serving of beans was placed and spread on the tostada before it was served. It's possible that the beans settled or shifted during packaging or transport, which can sometimes make it appear like there wasn't much on there once opened." Here is the 2nd lie - I was able to talk with Sophia, the General Manager. She had mentioned that she was able to speak with you over the phone and came to the realization there was an error made while reading the ticket. When the cook read to add a side of beans, he incorrectly took it as beans on the side. This is a frequent order as people do this to avoid the shell getting soggy while driving home. My response - Sometime money can't solve a lie. "I did review our kitchen footage from that time, and I can confirm that a full serving of beans was placed and spread on the tostada before it was served. It's possible that the beans settled or shifted during packaging or transport, which can sometimes make it appear like there wasn't much on there once opened." I would get better video camara. Thanks for the cinematic kitchen recap and for Sophia taking my call--thrilling plot twist that someone read "side of beans" like it was an abstract suggestion rather than a specific instruction for additional beans that I was charged. Sometime Adrian you can not through money at a problem and solve it. You keep your "fuck off" money and I will just spend my dollars somewhere they know how to read and write an order. O yea keep the tip!

A Sonoran-style quick service Mexican restaurant. They serve many traditional Mexican dishes salads and bowls you place your order and they bring it to you. I thought I would give their Taco Tuesday a try you can get their crispy shredded beef, chicken or ground beef and potato tacos for $2.50 each. I tried one of each and of the three I liked the shredded beef the best. The decor is a little sterile in my opinion given the size of the dining room a few plants wouldn't hurt but in the competitive Mexican fast food market they are a reasonably priced option for families over a Taco Bell or Filibertos.

Actually really tasty. I like that the burrito tortilla doesn't get soggy even the next day. I am not sure what it is made out of but I like it better than most of the other places that I have went to for a burrito. I wish all places could have a non soggy burrito tortilla like this place. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a lot of meat in my burrito. I think that it could have had a bit more. In my burrito there was cheese, pinto beans and a few other things but I feel like it was mostly cheese and pinto beans and some meat. I had the pork which was limited time I heard. They put the spicy sauce on the side in a small plastic container. I like that I could add it myself from the container. I could have used just a little more spicy sauce. The container was a bit small.

We love Someburros, but this location didn't feed us well at all. Delicious- if you love tortilla. Lol Disappointed

Went for lunch with friends and family. I've been to the Tempe location and wasn't overwhelmed but this wasn't my choice for lunch. We have two large families 6&6 so yeah there's a lot to order a lot to take down and a lot to cook so by no means is wait an issue it's somewhat expected. However after we ordered food kept coming out incorrect. The servers were nice enough to ask if things were correct and when we said no they did indeed correct them the first few times however by the third issue they stated to say we were doubling orders in an effort to get free food. This was very frustrating so I simply went back and asked for our receipts to be printed out. I explained that if there was miscommunication and stuff didn't get ordered we'd gladly pay for it but didn't appreciate the suggestive tone that our intent was to steal. They printed them out and we showed where the mistakes were on there end and that we'd gladly pay for the difference. The manager apologized and said no it was fine which was great however it still took another 10 minutes to get 1 coffee. If the food was amazing I totally would have bumped this up to a 4 star review for the manager going above and beyond to make it right as my machaca breakfast burrito was very good however my wife's rice and beans were flavorless. In AZ where Mexican food is everywhere this isn't somewhere I would willingly choose as they don't set themselves apart much in my opinion

If you are a native of the Valley like me, then you grew up eating at Poncho's Mexican Food. I remember fighting with my siblings over that basket of sopapillas. The Vasquez family (longtime owners of Poncho's) opened the first Someburro's in 1986. We have several of these family-owned, fast-casual restaurants all over the Valley. They specifically cater to young families on a budget. I frequent Someburros quite often because I love their hot sauce. It is pretty popular and I love getting a pint of it to go whenever I stop in. Someburro's menu consists of traditional Mexican food made from family recipes from Sonora, Mexico. Their signature Pollo Fundido is my personal favorite. Another favorite of mine is the Albondigas Soup that is served in the Fall. In addition to food, they have horchata, alcohol and churros! They keep a calendar on the wall that highlights food specials and Valley events. Taco Tuesdays, Cinco de Mayo and ASU football games are big celebration days at Someburros with special discounts on selected items. If you are hosting a big party, Someburro's caters large platters of party-sized portions of their popular items. This was my first visit to this location in Phoenix. It is pretty spacious and has a drive-thru. If you want good Mexican food made quick, Someburros is always an easy choice.

Is everything pretty much still made with lard (rice, beans, chips, tortillas, etc)? Not sure why it's listed as having vegan and "many" vegetarian options if that's still the case since animal fat is neither vegan nor vegetarian.

Are their tortillas all (wheat) flour, or do they serve corn tortillas as well?

But I wanted something hearty after donating blood the day before at Phoenix Fan Fusion. I felt like I didn't eat enough to replenish all of the corpuscles I shed, so a hearty late breakfast was in order. I was pleasantly thrilled with my choice of Presidio Cocina Mexicana, as the late breakfast I ordered did not disappoint! I ordered the Chilaquiles, which are essentially breakfast nachos, and you have a choice of protein to add. I chose the birria beef which was perfectly slow-cooked and complemented the corn tortilla chips, cheese, and eggs superbly. I opted for both the red chile and green chile sauce which coated the chips along with a generous layer of tangy cotija cheese. I asked for the eggs scrambled and they cooked them just how I like them... fairly dry and in a thin griddled layer. Add to this mound of well-seasoned goodness a decent dolloping of Tapatio hot sauce (and salt and pepper on the eggs) and I had endless perfect bites of spicy, meaty brekkie goodness that brought delighted yummy sounds from my grateful gullet! This was quality food and the couple at the bar next to me raved about the Menudo, so it has all the hallmarks of authentic Mexican fare. It restored me from borderline anemic to my usual strutting rugged caballero self. "¡Arriba, arriba! ¡Ándale, ándale!"

It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
