Then I get my order and it wasn't what I ordered (bread). They acted like it was my fault and I suspect it was due to the inattentive person who took my order. They corrected it but acted like it was a big chore to do so. I used to get a tuna on rye bread sandwich every 2-3 weeks for many years after their franchises first opened. It didn't matter which location, it was always prepared consistently at any location. Then the first change; they always had a very generous amount of tuna on the sandwich. Then...boom...just a little sliver of tuna on the sandwich and lots of lettuce, tomato and onions to fill the sandwich out. Then...boom...they disconnected making rye bread. Then...boom...they discontinued making my favorite pastry the Bear Claw. Then...boom they discontinue the steakhouse salad after i switched to that after the tuna sandwich went downhill. Panera is a good example of what happens to quality when private equity investors take over a company that is in the service industry. I feel for the franchisees who have to live with corporate neglect and incompetence. I can't imagine they will still be in business nationwide 2-3 years from now. The original St.Louis Bread Co. owners must be depressed to see their quality operations turn into a total mess.
