They are very difficult to get ahold of after an install is complete to finish permit inspections or repair damages their team did during the install. I've used them twice and both times it took over 5 months to get permits to pass (they had to fix multiple mistakes) which honestly isn't all that bad but it's just impossible to get through to the office. Doing everyone here a favor - this phone number will go through the the main office (it's the plumbing line): 703-366-2355. The one that's listed on the website will go to a call center and that's a black hole, you'll never hear back. In general they are very slow to respond to issues and don't keep good notes. A new technician will arrive every time and they never seem to know any history so it's just a nightmare. I will say the techs I generally don't have a problem with, it's the back-office, disorganization, and fear of managers to deal with customers - it's very disappointing and frustrating. Was sold a $18k hvac unit 3-years ago. Had Constant errors on thermostat saying flame in unit. It took approx. 6 months to obtain new Control Board even though we paid Labor upfront. ARS' initial quote on HVAC repair was @$8500, which is more than I paid for the entire system in 2017. They followed that quote with a discount of $2000. Even with this "generous" discount, the final ARS estimate was over $3000 more expensive than the initial quote from one of their competitors. Update: It turns out that the work initially quoted by ARS did NOT need to be performed. Tech claimed pipes were leaking, compressor was broken and motor was broken. Claimed $12,000 to $13,000 to fix and the parts would take weeks to get. (This is a $3K to $5K fix. IMPORTANT: This is EXACTLY the scenarios and problems described by multiple people including someone who left a review in August 2026.) Told us wasn't worth it to fix and we should get a new heat pump and he'd send one of his team out to give us a quote for a new heat pump. We said ok. Charged us $139 for the diagnostic but said it would be taken off the cost of a new unit. (NOTE: We were never given a written diagnostic or receipt for our check.) Sales person shows up, looks at unit then comes upstairs and begins the *hard* sell. Handwrites down 3 quotes for a new Rheem unit (which is a middle of the road product) - ~$17,000, ~$19,000, and ~$21,000. (NOTE: he only handwrote the prices down and showed them to us and wouldn't give us a written quote to keep.) We knew these prices were way off - but they wouldn't accept that we wanted to get 3 quotes and kept pushing us. We told him we were concerned about their reviews and that their prices were too high. The guy called his 'boss' and then they played "that" game with us. The 'boss' acted all dumb and said "Oh, I never read reviews" and then offered us a 25% discount - which would still be thousands more than what it should cost. The salesperson eventually left without leaving a written quote (likely because they knew that their prices were thousands more than market.) We eventually called, got a legit diagnostic (something totally different was wrong and not what they claimed, and two other quotes that were in the $10K to $13K range (which is market average and for a higher end heat pump no less!) All the reviews are correct about scamming, overpricing, technicians promising something but different technicians that do the job. We were told by Justin, with the initial $99 consultation, that our older house with cast iron pipes needed descaling with a rotor blade followed by a scour jet to finish the cleanup. This would take all day. The quote was for $2,879.13. A call to other companies had quotes of $699-$999 for the jet stream alone. Technicians arrived at the house (that did not include Justin.) They snaked a camera to see the pipes, attempted to use the rotor blade but the equipment did not work. They were able to use the jet stream and then snake the camera again. They were at the house for about 3 hours. (not the 6 hours Justin said it would take) We refused to pay the $2,879.13 since the rotor blade part of the job was not performed. We had to wait for a supervisor ?Randy? to show up. He insisted the jet stream alone would do the descaling!! The contract says: Change order: P-MC-D99 Custom-Descaling Main Drain line with Access P-MC-J4200 Scour Jet 4000-Up to 2 hours Obviously, the Custom descaling was not performed. We chose the right installer. We talked with several companies to install the condensing Rinnai Tankless water heater with a recirculating pump. Requiring a more complex installation. Kenny provided the most innovative way of installing the tankless water heater. He cleaned up the previous disorganized installation. As a professional, a person who takes pride in his work, Kenny ensured that his work met his and ours extremely high standards. He took his time to ensure we were satisfied with the work. He even built the basic layout of the tankless hot water on the pipes before he arrived. His support, Ledion, provided professional work. They worked as a team. Cleaning up after the complex installation. They went above and beyond the minimum work that would have completed the job. They ensured that the outside pipes looked good, by covering the siding. They also made sure that the whole house filter would not move. Not an easy task, when the filter is connected to an on-demand pressure pump. They cleaned up a previous mess. No other contractor suggested how Kenny installed the tankless hot water heater. In fact, another plumber refused to install a whole house filter. ARS costs were not the cheapest, nor the most expensive. Considering the results, it was the best choice! The cost also was reduced by a 5% Lowes credit card deduction, opposed to another company who wanted to charge me an additional 3% to use a credit card. I have written many reviews, 1 star to 5 stars. I do my best to provide honest reviews to benefit others. The work performed by Kenny and Ledion is a clear 5 stars review. Since we have lived in the house for over 30 years, we never had such a great shower. One look a the fan told me that the three bolts holding it in place and the one electrical clip could be replaced in 30 minutes. When I mentioned this to the technician, he agreed with me, but said that he was "going by the book." $1,000 FOR 30 MINUTES LABOR!! I was given a new estimated time of after 5:30 PM. This was followed by an identical email confirmation at 5:18 PM, and then a "tech is on the way" email at 5:22 PM. I called for an update twice more, at 6:23 PM and 6:47 PM, and was told a dispatcher would call me. The dispatcher never called. The technician, James, finally arrived just after 7:00 PM. The core issue is that I had to call multiple times for updates following the initial overbooking, and your dispatch team failed to follow through on their promise to contact me. This level of customer-initiated follow-up for a delayed appointment is unacceptable. The original issue turned into a week-long ordeal, necessitating three separate technician visits and yielding minimal proactive communication from dispatch. The successful solution was ultimately identified only by the third technician. No active leak was identified, including no leaking Schrader valve, and the technician advised that the system was operating normally after service. I also discovered that documentation from two prior service visits appeared to be incomplete or missing important details, including information related to refrigerant concerns and leak investigation. That raised additional concerns for me regarding the consistency and reliability of the service history on my system. This large discrepancy between diagnoses was concerning, especially considering the original repair recommendation and cost. I also experienced issues with professionalism from one technician during a prior visit, which added to my discomfort throughout the process. 4 days ago our AC had stopped working due to the compressor which this is the 2nd time it happened since we had the system installed. We called to set up an appointment they said they can come the next day between 4-8pm. We called them at 7pm to confirm the appointment said yes. The technician arrived at 2 work on it for 45 minutes replaced the parts and we got charged for $730!! For what? We told them that we have a lifetime warranty for parts and we just pay for labor! Terrible experience with the ARS purchased / installed Lennox HVAC system for my home, installed not even 3 years ago. Constant problems with the unit before this weekend, when the blower motor broke and needed replacing. ARS maintenance experience was the worst: 1) late arrival despite 4 hour arrival window; 2) technician diagnoses the blower motor broken and then tries to charge for full replacement ($2600) of the motor, despite having 10 year parts / 5 year labor warranty. 3) Tech would not order parts (despite 3-5 day lead time) until they can check my warranty with the parts department. Tech also said a 50% payment was due for him to place the part order (for a part under warranty!). 4) When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was blocked by three different people. Told supervisor would call me back, but it never happened. Service pricing is especially egregious: they intend to charge $1700 to install the blower motor, which is a 3-4 hour job, and nobody there can seem to explain why it costs so much. The biggest concern, though, is ARS holding my order hostage for 48 hours on a weekend with 90+ degree weather Saturday and Sunday. They have no urgency to resolve this situation, despite me sharing the purchase contract with the warranty in writing. I am sure the warranty is also in their customer system, but they won't reveal this - instead hoping you will pay out of pocket. Our heater stopped working during the severe cold snap around mid-January. We had a maintenance agreement with ARS and called them to take a look at it. Our technician, Kyle, did a great job diagnosing the issue as a bad control board. He went back to his truck to call the company for a quote. He returned to inform us that it would cost $2700 and take two weeks to be delivered. With the cost so high, he suggested I get a quote from the company for a new system that could be installed the next day. Having been concerned for my family, I consented to having a rep come by later that evening. My wife sensed something was not right. (Glad I married her for that.) My wife is somewhat technology challenged, but even she was able to go online and obtain a quote for a control board for the specific model we had. It turned out that it would cost us $350 and could be delivered in two days for a $40 delivery fee. Using our gas fireplace to get us through the two days, the part arrived. My son was actually able to install it himself by referencing YouTube videos. We were back in business after two days and approx. $400. I now realize ARS was trying to pressure us into buying a new system. I do not fault our technician for this, as I am sure he was only following orders from his company. In May of 2024 I purchased an entire HVAC system from them and let me just say that it wasn't cheap. I called them for my usual service 3 weeks ago and just before the tech got here I got an error message. When the tech left I got an error message again and he did return that evening. He needed to order a part and I had to pay 1/3 down for that to happen. I had an appointment for 6/1 and when no one came I called and was told that the part wasn't there and someone from the parts department would get back to me for an update. Hello. My HVAC technician came out about an hour late. Started their assessment of my unit. That went okay. But when the technician put panels back they did so poorly. Actually breaking a clasp causing it to fall in the middle of the night exposing the motor and other parts. Which led to my AC freezing up. The next morning, I woke up to call ARS and tell them what had happened they did not get back to me until 6 days later with a manager and asked me did I take any pictures. No I did not take pictures I frantically tried to not have my AC unit be completely wrecked because of negligence. I was thinking to have my $49 tune-up fee refunded but they said no because I did not take pictures. I'm writing a review warning people not to trust ARS. I have been Federal Law Enforcement for 28 years and definitely no crooks. ARS is the worst. The "maintenance worker" sabotaged our AC unit when all he was supposed to do was a yearly service. It worked fine until it was "serviced". I brought in a friend who does HVAC for a living, and he found where the ARC "maintenance worker" messed with it. It works fine now. As far as I'm concerned, this isn't a legitimate business, these guys are scammers, and I don't say that lightly. I was quoted $11,000 by ARS technician Manny to replace the entire HVAC system and $3,000 for a compressor, neither of which were needed. Another company came out and correctly diagnosed the issue: a bad capacitor and dirty coils. The actual repair cost a fraction of what I was told. Manny claimed he went to school for HVAC design, yet he failed to recognize one of the most common and inexpensive AC issues. Instead, he tried to upsell me on a compressor that would take two weeks to arrive (which may have been a lie), leaving my tenants to suffer in the heat. This wasn't an honest mistake,vit was either incompetence or intentional dishonesty. What's worse, I felt like they were trying to extort me. They played on the time-sensitive urgency of not having AC, making it seem like our only real option was to replace the system the very next day or wait two weeks for the compressor knowing full well we couldn't leave our tenants without air conditioning that long. To top it off, I received a fake-looking auto-reply email with the repair quote and then a phone call asking if I wanted to proceed. I told the rep it had already been fixed, less than an hour after Manny left, by an honest technician. Yes, Manny was polite, but being courteous while pushing a false or lazy diagnosis isn't acceptable. I could've wasted thousands and left people in unsafe conditions. I booked a plumber through this service to repair a backed up sink in a rental property that I own in Hyattsville Md. They connected me with Blue Dot Services and confirmed that appointment at 9:10 am on a Saturday. The appointment window was from 10-2. I had tenants and others in place to assist if necessary. I had received text back up to let me know I would be called when they were heading to the property. At 11:50 I got a call telling me that they no longer had anyone available to make the service appointment and that they wanted to reschedule. This is 2 hours into their arrival window time. I asked what happened and all they could say was that no one was available and that all they could do is reschedule. We have a maintenance contract with ARS. We have been scheduled three times for a technician to come out and two out of the three have been cancelled last minute. The third was scheduled for today and a technician has yet to show up. They harass us with phone calls to schedule and harass us with text message reminders of the appointment and then they don't show. At one point when I asked how will they service the unit in the dark, they told me they have plenty of light and the technicians want to get paid so they will show up. Shortly after they cancelled the appointment. They're excuse is that they have a high volume of service calls. When you call to check on your appointment they tell you someone will call you back with an ETA and no one calls. Very poor customer service. They do not care about their customers. read more
