My heat pump was dying, and would probably not made it through the summer. It barely made it through the winter! We've used Snell for almost 15 years - they installed our last unit and helped us maintain it for well over the expected life span of a heat pump. Lucky for us Joseph noticed how old the hot water heater was, and suggested we replace that, too. The replacement appointment was set for yesterday, and the crew showed up on time, protected my floors from any outdoor mess and were incredibly careful to not scratch and ding our walls while moving the supplies and giant boxes of things in and out of our home. It was an all-day process, but for what they had to do, it was totally worth understandable. Part of the deal was a new thermostat, and Yao was patient with teaching me how to manage it and get started with programming. I love working with them and highly recommend their products and services. read more

I had some work done by Snell in June the work was done satisfactory. Unknown to me I was signed up for a maintenance agreement. I've called four times during the past four weeks trying to get credit for the two months of payments that Snell took and have been unable to this point to get a refund. read more

We have a membership with Snell, which has mostly worked out well over the past few years. We have historically received timely service, which made our most recent experience extremely disappointing. Earlier this month, we scheduled an appointment for one of their electricians to come out. On the day of the appointment (which was over a week after we initially scheduled), I was contacted (at the very end of the timeframe given) and informed that the electrician was not going to be able to come and asked if we could re-schedule for the next day. I agreed. And then the exact same thing happened the next day. They then re-scheduled me for a third time for the following day and I specified the time that would work best...and then they showed up almost TWO HOURS before the scheduled time! We were not available, which meant that we missed this appointment altogether. I called to express my frustration and was asked if I wanted to talk with their customer relations person. I said that I did. After ONE WEEK passed with no communication from anyone at Snell, I called them to ask about when I would be able to speak to the customer relations person. They said the person was on a call and would call me back. That must have been a really long phone call, as it took another full week before I got a return phone call. To say it was the most lackluster call is the understatement of the day, as the person was clearly doing a "due diligence" call of "apologize for the inconvenience" and here's $50 for your troubles. Seriously? That's only a third of the cost of the electrician I ended up having to hire due to Snell's negligence. So much for "membership." Not sure if we will continue to use them...we definitely won't if anything like this happens again. read more

Over the years, we dealt with intermittent shutdowns and multiple paid overpriced service calls where no clear issue was identified. Our kitchen sink was clogged and the garbage disposer spew water back up. We called Snell because we see their truck in our neighborhood all the time. They did come quickly (same day). Unclogged the sink drain. We then asked Martin a few other plumbing related questions, including our aging water heater and low water pressure at the shower head. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual. We decided to go ahead to replace our long over-due water heater. It went smoothly. Martin also helped us replace the cartridge for the shower, the lever, and the shower head itself. All new, no more residue. Good water pressure now. read more

We have been customers w/ Snell for over 10 years. We pay a monthly fee of $12 and they come assess the HVAC unit every 6 months. Last year, we had the HVAC unit replaced for $12,000. They initially quoted us $25,000, which I thought was absurd for a 2 bedroom condo and then we negotiated down. Over this past year, we have had to call them multiple times after the installation to fix issues. The unit has been working well, but recently has begun leaking above the unit in the closet as well as in one of our bedrooms-the thought is this is from the insulation of the ducts needing to be replaced. We called Snell a few weeks ago to inform them. They came out 2 Saturdays ago, took pictures, and said a manager would call with a quote. No one called. I called 4 days after the appointment to check in on the quote. The scheduler said that he could see the note from the technician saying a quote should be generated but a proper request from the technician was not made. They said they would send people out today to reassess and get us the quote and start the work. Today, two men (very nice) came on time. They took pictures. They said they weren't made aware drywall was involved and they were told the unit was an attic unit (we are not, we are a first floor condo with a closet unit and roof component). I said this is crazy-they can see the notes from the previous technician or the notes from the past 10 years of visits. They apologized and said someone will call us with a quote. Do not use this company for your HVAC needs unless you want to chase down work and be quoted insane installation prices for a new unit that will leak down into your drywall (of which they will not be able to look up basic information prior to coming to assess). read more

I've had a few service calls with Snell. I appreciate the ability to online book an appointment (I can do that anytime) and how thorough their team is. They answer questions and always walk me through what they see and their recommendations. I am very happy with their service and will continue to use them and recommend them to friends and neighbors. I've had Snell install a faucet and change out the valves for my washer, detect and fix leaks, and install a new bathroom vent fan. All of this work has been completed to my satisfaction. Avoid this company at all costs!!! They are either predatory scammers or incompetent and lazy. But, the truth is that I believe they are both and I'll even add 'Malicious'. After a very quick non-thorough inspection of my two AC systems, the field rep (Francisco DeLaRosa) presented me with a $2390 quote for 10 lbs of freon (6 lbs. for one unit + 4 lbs. for my second unit). But, something didn't feel right. So, I quickly paid them their $89 Dispatch fee and called another HVAC company that I had used in the past. One day later, my AC systems are working perfectly, and it only cost me $381 for 1.4 lbs. of Freon. That is over $2,000 less!!!! Let me explain why I say they are Scammers, Incompetent and Malicious. THE SCAM: While looking over the compressors outside, Franco (which was the name on his shirt) showed me a number on his device that he has attached to my unit that is reading 0.4. He says that for the size of my unit, that number should be reading upwards of 6.0. He does the same thing with my upstairs unit. Basically, saying they are empty .... The TRUTH, that the other HVAC company revealed, was that there wasn't anything wrong with one of my units. It was full and cooling perfectly. The 2nd unit was just a little low on refrigerant. But working fine, too ... the Snell rep had FLAT OUT LIED!!!! THE STORY: We had been out of town for a few days and the systems had switched to 'Away' mode which was an 80 degree setting. When we arrived and entered the house, our motion sensors in the house immediately triggered the systems to turn on. So, when we felt the heat in the house and looked at the thermostats we saw that it was set for 72 degrees with the current indoor temperature of 80 degrees. We were tired from a lot of driving and simply thought the systems gave out. So, we turned both units off and prepared to call HVAC companies in the morning to see who can come the quickest. THE INCOMPETENCE: The first thing the SNELL rep (Franco) asked us to do is turn on the systems and we walked downstairs to inspect the unit in the basement. I showed him how the unit itself felt very cold to the touch. He didn't use a temperature sensor like the other HVAC companies do or do anything else. All he said was "okay. Let's go outside to the compressors". He didn't get into my attic to even look at my 2nd unit. No other diagnostics. He was convinced there was a refrigerant leak. And, keep in mind that I had told him that I had been gone a couple of days and simply found the house warm when we got home. THE MALICIOUSNESS: Apparently, the outside AC compressor units have valves with 2 removeable caps per unit. If removed, Freon will leak out. Well ... the HVAC company that I came the next day after the SNELL quote, showed me that these caps had been removed and thrown (not dropped) away from the units. It seems to me that the Snell rep, which was visually & verbally annoyed that I didn't trust his findings, throw the caps away so that the freon would actually leak and the next HVAC company would actually find low freon levels. I spent some time writing my review because I am outraged at this type of predatory practice. I don't know if I should ask for my $89 dispatch fee back. What do you think? read more

Used Snell for years, but it changed radically after Snell was acquired. An HVAC unit died this summer. The Snell technician told us he might be able to get it running for a week or maybe a little longer for ~$1,100, but we'd have to get it replaced. We met with the Snell salesperson. Rude, ridiculous high pressure sales tactics. A used car salesman would've been embarrassed by this guy. He made obviously false claims about equipment shortages, wouldn't put anything in writing, wouldn't give us a business card, etc. We obtained other quotes, all at least 30% lower than Snell's quote. One company checked the unit, found that it was a little low on coolant, added coolant and got it running again for $350. We had AC until we got the unit replaced. A Snell sales manager contacted me a few months after we met with his salesperson. He did not seem to have any real or genuine concern about the conduct of his salesperson. We had a new AC unit installed in June by Snell, for a significant cost. The installation team was great. It wasn't long after the system was installed (within the week) that we started having problems and concerns. We reached out to Snell, and it seemed like they were going to take seriously their satisfaction guarantee. They have not. I have called again and again and left messages. Does anyone call me back to help? No. I'm incredibly disappointed with Snell, and regretting our decision to work with Snell on this new unit. read more

Criminals. We came back from vacation to find our AC not running. Snell did manage to come the same day (which we were grateful for, but it doesn't make up for everything else in this review). After taking a look at our system (which is indeed older), they said they couldn't pinpoint the specific cause, saying there were 4 different potential reasons, each costing roughly $2k a piece - and not necessarily guaranteeing a fix. At that price point, they said we might want to consider a new system entirely. We agreed to an appointment the next day at 9am for somebody to assess our property and come up with a quote. However, they were a no-show, with zero follow-up. Since we were still without running AC, we called a local, non-big chain company (Chandler's of Arlington). They took a look at our full system and identified the root cause was a simple fix - we needed a new capacitor, which cost roughly $200. I shared the details from Snell, and they were flabbergasted at Snell not fixing the obvious issue at hand and trying to push unnecessary repairs AND a brand new system. These seem like obvious predatory behaviors intended to scare people into large repairs to push brand new systems. read more

We had a kitchen sink clog that needed to be fixed as the water was draining very slowly and backing up. The technician that was sent to fix the issue unfortunately made it worse as he left with it leaking, when it wasn't leaking before. We were extremely frustrated as it left our sink unusable. We expressed our concerns and a new, excellent technician named Logan was sent the next day. Thankfully he fixed the leak and also resolved the clog issue. We were extremely pleased with his services and relieved that the issue was fixed. Additionally, our frustrations were expressed to the manager who called us the following day and provided stellar customer service. We initially were going to avoid using this company again, but the customer service we received from Snell in response to our concerns made us rethink, and we will be calling them again for our plumbing needs. We greatly appreciate that our concerns and frustrations were taken seriously and appreciate what they were able to do for us. read more

Three years this company can not install properly wirking humidifier: the original one worked from the time house was build for 20 yeaers, then fan stop working. Then a guy from SNELL install new-did not work, then another guy came and figured out that thermocouple wasnt connected to the furnace:fixed. Did not work. Then another guy installed new thermostat. Did not work. Then the third came-a boss, said everything had been done werong, reinstalled everything cut water pipes, added another one etc.... few month does not work. It is wrong people doing wrong things charging money claiming they are he best. I moved into a new place that had a 10 year old HVAC. When it was inspected, I was told it was in perfect shape. After a year, I figured, why not get this bad boy cleaned. I called ol' Snell because I had seen their vehicles in my area. What a stupid decision that was. this guy comes in, inspects my HVAC, and says everything is perfect. Then he takes a phone call, and all of a sudden, he's telling me my HVAC is going to explode and kill every body in the building (I'm exaggerating, but this is not far off). I told him to eff off, and he made me sign these silly little scare tatic disclousers about Snells liability when "My HVAC certainly explodes". Since this wonderful experience, Snell has attempted to call me at least once every two weeks. I've blocked two of their numbers at a minimum. I've also had my HVAC inspected again to find it is still in perfect condition. We have been members of Snell's Advantage Club for a year and we used them last week for the first actual service repair and had a horrible experience. They quoted us $1,200 to add a pressure reducer to our water heater and have since refused to send us an itemized receipt. I've contacted them 4 times asking for a simple receipt that is slightly more detailed than the invoice that says "pressure reducer installation - $1200". What kind of company can't provide a breakdown of how much the part was vs. how much the labor was? The water heater began leaking again less than a week after their "fix" and they didn't send someone within 24 hours (which is the advantage club "guarantee"). When they did come out, they discovered the original repair did not tighten the new part correctly. We will be canceling our membership and I'd highly suggest finding a local company that can (at least) provide itemized receipts for you before you get ripped off from this large corporation. UPDATE: The leak returned and Snell came out a 3rd time. The technician admitted he had no idea what was wrong and said we needed to replace the water heater (quoted us $3k). We got a second opinion from Reddick & Sons and they quickly identified that the HVAC was leaking (never an issue with water heater!!!) and fixed it in less than an hour for a very affordable price. Snell did $1200 of work on the wrong appliance. Do not use them! read more

Had a service contract with Snell for many years. On 1/15/25 the tech came to perform the regular maintenance/inspection on our 12 year old furnace. Was told there were cracks in the heat exchanger and was shown pictures as "proof". Was first told the repair would cost $5135. The tech declared that it was "unsafe" to run and shut down our system. It was 20 degrees outside that day. I'm a single mom with children and pets. I asked a few questions and the repair price magically came down to $3215, but was told that due to the age of the system, a total system replacement was highly recommended at $17,000. High pressure sales tactics were in full force. I called a friend and he arranged for a second opinion the following day. After a cold, miserable night a tech who's been in the business for more than 30 years inspected the system. Checked the carbon monoxide levels and they were as low as any new system. In our presence, he ran his camera scope into the furnace and inspected the heat exchanger and found no cracks or any issues whatsoever. Did not find anything that even closely resembled the photos that the Snell tech showed us. No cracks, no rust, nothing. We have been using the furnace for the past month with absolutely no issues. Long story short, this company came into my home and attempted to say that they recommended an entire system replacement and it was a total sham. Needless to say they lost my business and I hope this review helps someone else because Snell has proven that they absolutely cannot be trusted. read more

I am a participant in Snell's annual program which has proven to be most beneficial at times. I called them about a plumbing incident, and they sent Henrri Benitez to take care of it. He took care of one of my plumbing problems and pointed out another. I asked to have him come back another day for the additional problem. He gave me a quote for replacing the full faucet. However, when he went to remove the old one, he found a part that needed to be replaced instead of the whole faucet. He cut the priced down to 25% of the original estimate! He did a perfect job both tiimes and was so quick! I will ask for him again for any of my plumbing problems. Thank you! read more

I had a service call into Snell Home Services for a gas generator repair. I already knew before I called that it was the starter motor issue and told them that I needed a repair proposal. Their tech Kevin showed up the next day, he pulled his multimeter did couple of testings on the battery and solenoid, and confirmed it was the solenoid and/or starter motor failure. The whole process toke about 10-15 minute. Then he charged me $312 and said the reason he charge this much is to make sure I retain their servcie so I won't go someone else and promised me a proposal and quote. He mumbled something like it will be rolled into part of the repair. I sketically agreed and paid. Now 5 days has passed and nothing came back from him, I called their office twice and each time I was promised to get a call back. Still nothing yet. Will see what happen next. Be watch out! they are not what they used to be. read more

I recently had another company come in to clean out the registers and do air duct cleaning in December 2024 (our ducts are cleaned yearly). To my horror they discovered an extensive amount of mold in one of the ducts. Luckily, this company was able to remediate that day (cost was over $700). I have had a maintenance plan with Snell/4Service Pros for years. Their last check up for the hvac was in September 2024, which failed to notice that the duct was not secured to the register and that it had extensive mold growth due to condensation build up. I specifically asked the guy in September to check the connections as that was one of the items I was planning to replace (Snell lost my approved/ signed estimate for that work and would require another visit and likely a higher estimate for replacement which was recommended but not required). Adding to my frustration was that Snell/4 Service Pros completely replaced my hvac system so they should have caught that specific duct as it went to a dead register (it leads to the closet where there is no exit vent). I called Snell that day and they said someone would call me back to address it. I eventually got a call from an assistant manager who told me the manager was on vacation and would contact me upon his return. It is February 2025 and no one has followed up with me. My main gripe is that 1. The maintenance check in September should have caught the unsecured duct. 2. The dead register should have been caught at installation. 3. Someone should have called me about this issue but it seems like they truly do not care or are extremely careless. I have since dropped my advantage plans for two of my properties and I have no plans to do business with this company again despite having used them exclusively for about a decade. They have replaced and installed my sump pump, two water heaters, water softener, all my water lines and drain lines, two hvac systems, and electric panel. They have also done plumbing, electrical, and hvac repairs to another property I have. The customer service was better with 4Service Pros and it has been a noticeable difference since the switch to Snell. The system is faulty to where the files for my properties have been lost on multiple occasions and their system only shows one advantage plan when I am paying for two for two different properties. My signed and approved estimates have also been lost multiple times. On the most recent incident, I was told to schedule a new estimate which will likely lead to increased costs. To add insult to injury, my family and I have been suffering from continuous sinus and respiratory issues, intense chronic headaches, and other possibly related symptoms due to the mold exposure and have been treated by medical staff for months. read more

Snell Home Services - The removed duct with mold - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Sterling, Virginia

We have been under contract with a reputable well known HVAC company since purchasing our home in 2011. They are also same company that replaced/installed a new unit in our condo back in 2016. On their last visit they suggested our unit will need repairs or possibly even total replacement which to me seems odd for a unit that is only 9 years old and serviced by them on a bi-annual basis. We decided to get a second opinion on our AC from Schnell and things were starting to look up. The technician (AJ) that came out was one of the nicest and honest men I have ever met. He made some suggestions, provided insight and his thoughts as well as made adjustments on things in the unit that he noted may be causing our issues. AJ did acknowledge that our ac seems faulty in more ways than one and made no promises but after his service call the unit began to cool the house down once again. He also recommended having someone come out to give us a good faith estimate and pricing. As we are half way thru Summer 2025 it is our hope we can make it to Fall and start thinking about what to do next as far as going all in a new new unit at some point next year. And that's when things got weird... We set up an appointment to have a "Schnell Comfort Consultant" come out on 07/26/25 to look everything over and to provide us with an estimate on buying a new system. I took off work 2 hours early that afternoon so that I would be home in time to meet with him to discuss. After receiving a phone call from SCHNELL saying he was running 15 minutes late we waited (no problem). 20 minutes later the estimator (comfort consultant) calls and proceeds to ask me some general questions about what was going on with the system. I explained that due to cooler temperatures outside the unit was doing ok but on hotter days 90-100 degrees the system struggles and runs more to try and keep up. Again we know we will need to replace at some point but cost is indeed a factor at this time. He proceeds to tell me it will be between 10-13K to replace despite not being at our house for our scheduled appointment. Then in so many words he went on to say that if he were to come out and not make the sale (on the spot that day) it would be a waste of his time. He would be there for a long time on a Friday evening looking everything over and that he would be dinged by the company for not walking away with selling us a new unit and signing on the dotted line. He even instructed me to call the main number back to tell them the unit is fine and that no estimate would be needed? Needless to say we called and I am now leaving this review so that others in the market for HVAC services know how this company operates. I have to say this was the most ridiculous sales pitch I have ever heard and is no way to treat someone that was planning on being a customer. Therefore, when the time comes to purchase a new AC for our home it will surely not be with SCHNELL. read more

DO NOT USE SNELL. When my fan in the furnace would not turn on, a Snell technician arrived and spent an hour diagnosing the problem. He said I needed to install a new blower and quoted a price of $2,100 or said I could replace the whole furnace for up to $14K. I called another company. Their technician visited for 10 minutes and said the problem was very simple - the fan's plug came undone when I changed out the filter. How could the Snell technician not notice that the fan was unplugged, or did he see it and wanted to rip me off? I called Snell, reported the issue, and they said a manager would call me back the next day - which was three days ago. read more

The Stand Up Guys" , you decide. Snell sold, installed and has serviced my 2 HVAC systems for 9+ years and has earned 5 star reviews over those years. I have a service contract for Spring/Fall checkups which have been executed without any issues, courteous and professional technicians every time. In the Fall the tech showed me that the blower motor needed cleaning as it had accumulated years of dust; he suggested waiting until Spring to do anything. After scheduling the Spring check-up, I got the price to clean the blower and authorized the expense. From the time the tech started work, it was constantly "excuse me sir can I show you something". At least 5 times; not once in years past have I been called to see things the tech believed were issues. He stated the following: Consider replacing the coil and outside unit due to the coil being dirty and showing surface rust (something that happens day one from condensation). Warned about consequences if the coil leaked into the house. Not once had any other tech shown or warned me of this. He estimated the cost to replace the AC components, north of $20K. Consider an ultraviolet air treatment because of the dust on the blower wheel; even though I have a high efficiency April Air HEP 13 filter. Again, warning me of health issues from breathing unclean air. Consider cleaning the inside coil which later I found was simply spraying an aerosol on the inside coil ($500). Consider replacing fan motor as it felt warm. I told him that the Fan was set to "on" vs "auto" which is perhaps why the motor felt warm. He cautioned me on the motor failing. He removed and cleaned the fan blower wheel and sprayed an aerosol to clean the inside coil. He put the wheel back and again stated his concern about the "warm" motor temp. This was in late May 2025. At 2 am on Thursday June 26th a loud noise started from the furnace fan. Not knowing the cause I turned the system power off. I presumed the wheel was out of alignment and placed a service call that day. The same tech came out only to find that the fan blower wheel had gotten loose and was hitting the housing and causing the noise. He stated that one of the 2 set screws wasn't there and the one that was could not be tightened so a new blower wheel needed to be ordered. He also said that the blower wheel had etched the motor shaft and the motor should be replaced. While the parts were under warranty the cost of labor alone would be around $1300. He also said the parts were not in stock and needed to be ordered. I sent Snells GM a note that when the parts arrived I wanted a different tech for the repairs. The parts did not come in until late Monday June 30th and were installed July 1st; 6 days of no AC during 100+ days. Without my involvement, the new tech noted the missing second set screw and showed me that the new wheel had 2; stating that with one set screw the blower wheel got loose and was hitting the blower housing while also etching the motor shaft. Snell sold, installed and has serviced both of my systems from day one. They removed and cleaned the blower motor ($620) in late May. No one has ever worked on our system except Snell personnel and the blower assembly has NEVER been worked on since installation. Why wasn't the second set screw in place and where is it? It worked fine up until the cleaning and only after that was a set screw missing. It cost me $1587 for a missing screw that led to the required replacement parts and repairs 30 days after Snell cleaned the blower wheel. Oddly, to remove and clean the blower wheel it cost me $620, labor to replace it $721.65 though the tech stated closer to $300. Why after 9 years did the 2nd set screw dislodge and where is it? Not once has anything like this occurred with any technician, why now? Maybe I need to get an entirely new system which was the goal during the Spring maintenance visit; together with an ultraviolet air treatment installation. Great sales pitch indeed. We needed a new system (we were not surprised) and Joseph Ephraim, the estimator, gave us a great deal. Their installers were extremely professional. The kitchen sink drains slowly but still able to use it. After the technician attempted to solve the problem, it made it worse, now the water sits in the sink, and I cannot use the sink at all. I still had to pay for the service. I had used this company before for the same problem several years ago and thought it would be a smooth process. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I called the line and the person who spoke with me at first was going to transfer me to another department to handle my complaint, then all of a sudden he hung up. He didn't even bother to call back my number. I called again and spoke with a female representative and she was kind of rude over the phone. Now, waiting for a call from the manager. These guys were so impressive. Fuse blew right before move-in day and cooked the upper floor to 80+ degrees. They were able to show up and repair everything faster than any of the other HVAC guys could even get to the house. Michael M showed up and had everything resolved with a new thermostat setup in about 20 minutes after we spent 3 days trying to figure it out. This review is about Gary Alvarado-Revollo Service Technician. I have been using him for years now. He knows my systems and he has my trust to do the right thing for my 2 Heating/AC systems. I find him very diligent and very commutative in checking my systems. Also, he is friendly and easily answers all my questions. The problem I have with "SNELL" is their SUPPORT STAFF ie scheduling people. The do not go out of their way to communicate a scheduling issue. I had one and got so up set about them I almost canceled my(just this week) my CONTRACT WITH SNELL. SO SNELL YOUR SCHEDULING personnel ARE YOUR WEAK LINK. IF NOT FOR Gary Alvarado-Revollo's good work and excellent communication skills I would have cancelled my contract and looked else where,( and you have alot of AC/Heat competition) Use SNELL BUT beware of their scheduling personnel. Snell installed our new HVAC and we were initially pleased. However the new unit failed a county inspection. When Snell arranged the repair appointment, we were scheduled from 10am-2pm. The technician showed up at 4pm without what he needed to complete the repair. He said he would get what he needed and return. We didn't hear back. I have a Generac 17 kw Standby Generator. The generator receives annual service and is automatically tested every Sunday for 10 minutes to ensure it is operational. It was tested on August 4th and worked fine. We experienced a power outage on Thursday August 8th; however, the Generator failed to ignite. I called Snell Heating & Air, and they sent a technician on August 12th to fix the problem. He decided it was a weak battery causing the problem, and he recommended a new battery. (Note this was a 22 month old battery. Previous two batteries lasted over 5 years each.) He had one on his truck and only charged me $376 for a 12v Group 26 Battery that sells for less than $125. I could live with the 150% markup, but the Generator still didn't work, and the technician couldn't determine the problem and said he would ask the company to send out an expert. The "expert" arrived the next day, August 13th, and determined it was a faulty Nexus Controller. He installed a new Nexus Controller for only $714.98 for a part that costs less than $370. Great! However, the Generator still didn't work, and the "expert" determined it was a bad Starter Contact Relay (SCR). He would order the part and be back in a few days to install it. Thirty days later the Snell Technician arrived to install the $20 SCR and only charged me $87.56. That's a 400% markup. Now for the complaint. I accept the ridiculous markup as the price of being gullible. Lesson Learned! My complaint is that since that time I have received 4 invoices (#176638395, #176741992, #178113053, and #178113053) from Snell for the same work, and they are all different. The invoices had balances due that ranged from $0 to $1600.69. The last invoice dated August 13th was the largest and included the parts and $600 labor. To stop all this aggravation, I sent Snell a check for the entire $1600.69 which they cashed on Dec 4th. The following week the collection phone calls began. Some weeks a single call and other weeks 2 or more calls. I attempted to explain to them their invoice system has significant problems regarding charging twice or three times for the same part or specific service. The calls continue with threats of collection action. It has been an expensive lesson learned ... paying $1600.69 to replace a $20 part and taking 30 days to do it. The only resolution I want is for Snell to send a receipt paid in full, the calls to stop and the accounting department at Snell to pay attention to what they're doing. I have referred this review to BBB and recommend others do the same. read more

I have been a Snell customer for 9 months; we purchased a replacement A/C unit 9 months ago, and we have been paying a monthly service fee in case we ever needed support. They claimed that they had 24x7 support. Tonight, the A/C unit stopped cooling the house, so we called them. They said that they couldn't get a person out here until Monday (two days later), and then when we asked about the emergency service, they said they would figure that out and put us on hold. We have been on hold for an hour thus far. Their other phone line does not answer, nor does it provide an opportunity to leave a voice message. read more

We recently suffered a winter furnace breakdown, and it turns out our 17 year old HVAC simply needed replacement at this point. We originally called 4ServicePros, and later learned they are in the final stages of merging with Snell. After a quick consult from a friendly tech named Derek, Chris Sikes was the sales consultant who came to our home to help talk about solutions. He clearly went the extra mile with us, staying into the night and helping us to decide on a HVAC replacement system that worked with our house configuration. He was very professional, personable, and kept in touch with me along the way. The install was clean and the duct work and taping of the joints looks good. During the AC install outside, they unfortunately opened our unit and noticed it was damaged. Yet they were still able to bring another new replacement to our home within an hour or two. I was very pleased with the instructions and tips on how to maintain the system over time. It seems their pricing for the system is similar to other companies, and at the time of me writing this, they warranty the work and product for the first year and will make an on-site maintenance visit to check on things. After that, you can buy a reasonable maintenance plan to help keep the system working longer. The company also worked with me to add maintenance services to a second zone HVAC system in my attic, saving me maintenance money each year that I would have otherwise spent on a separate maintenance contract. After sending an internal thank you note for a professional job done and unusually good customer service, Snell contacted me and thanked me for taking the time to acknowledge the performance and professionalism of their team members. We have been using Snell Heating and Air Conditioning fora number of years now. We pay a monthly fee. For these years we've been very happy with Snell until just recently. They are now apparently part of a larger company but are still doing business as Snell. They have been charging us double for a couple of months. I've made a number of inquiries about fixing this and no one will contact me so we can figure this out. I think we'll probably have to quit using them and just cutting off our business with them in order to stop the double billing. They have been great on scheduling visits and very responsive but their unwillingness to fix this problem is unfathomable. It appears something there has changed and I would not recommend them any longer. read more

My story is similar to some of the other stories written here about incredible service from Snell. We woke up this morning in this 90 heat and the AC was only blowing out warm air, not good. We called Snell because we had just received a $50 coupon. This is where it gets good! By 10:30 we had a fantastic technician out, Mike, who was a pleasure to work with. Followed all the Covid rules, and really knew his stuff. Quickly diagnosed the problem, gave us a price and was ready to go. In almost no time, I could feel the cold air blowing again, what a relief. Mike went over every detail explaining exactly what he was replacing, and why. A very fair price and I could not be more pleased! We called them for a furnace inspection, which went fine and was done professionally. The problem came a year later when they signed me up for a $250 / year "maintenance plan" without my knowledge or consent. They have been calling and emailing me multiple times per week trying to get me to pay this illegitimate subscription fee, even after calling them back and telling them I did not agree to the subscription. read more
