Very happy overall. Estimator showed up about 8:30 am and by noon, the job was completed. The plumber showed up, with the hot water tank I wanted, and it was installed with no mess! Come on, admit it! No one looks at their hot water tank. Granted, been talking about mine awhile with my HVAC guy about a replacement but we never looked at it. Was installed in the house I built in 2017. Well, it was in rough shape. It was rotten out at the intake water pipes and slowly leaking down the wall. Now I'm like, WTF!!! Emergency mode! Heading on down to Home Depot at 6pm on a Tuesday night. The girl there was just like here, call this number to our subcontractor. Talked to a person right away, said the estimator will be by your house by 9pm that night. Well, by the time that work order got into the system, the appointment was never set. Got a text message next morning at 6 am...I'm first on the list and as I already wrote, all went very smoothly. People, money is no object when you are facing 50 gallons of water in your garage!!! Just get the job done please! lol. Paid a very reasonable price for same day job. I notified all my neighbors to maybe you want to put eyes on your tanks since we all built homes about the same timeframe. Go figure! I'm the lucky winner with the only bad one. They sold and installed a Generac home stand-by generator July, 2025. I thought I was buying it from Lowe's. Instead, it was a "new" generator that had been sitting in a warehouse for 4 years. I had problems staying connected (wi-fi). I called them in December to have it repaired. They said that they no longer serviced Generac generators. They wouldn't even return my calls to get the promised first annual service, $350 value. I have since found another service company. They informed me about the age of the new generator. During a recent power outage, the a/c didn't work. ARS never turned a delay device they installed to ON. I have to pay for a service call every time the present service company comes. ARS is a handful of "give- me" and a mouthful of much obliged. I'd rather trust a cotton mouth not bite if I picked it up than do business with ARS. Maybe they will do same thing with other products they sell. They have your money, why honor their promises. That's my experience. read more

Three stars for getting an appointment the same day I called. $139 fee to come over but they don't tell you that unless you ask. And $139 rip off. After the technician arrived, everything went downhill fast. I made it clear that I was on a fixed income and wanted to repair and not replace the ac unit, however, the technician had other ideas. They could have repaired it for $2200 which I knew was quite high, however that was downplayed. The technician explained the ac unit was old at 10 years and my unit's motor was special with two parts that costs more to repair so it wasn't worth spending $2200 when I could get a new unit for $10,000 to $14,000. After explaining that I couldn't afford to replace my ac I was connected to another person who was to come over later to discuss various options which were to include repairing at a discounted rate. That appointment ended fast because he was there to discuss options in buying a new unit and nothing else. I ended up contacting other companies that offered so much more help. In the end my ac was repaired for $950. The companies were upfront in the cost of the motor ($400 and the labor of $450 plus $100 service charge). I do not recommend ARS which was a complete farce on a very hot day. read more

We just had their salesmen Andy come give us a quote on a new unit. He was great up until the end when I told him we needed to talk about it tonight and get back to him tomorrow. 16k was the quote and we wanted to discuss a little more before committing to such a big number like that. Andy then turned into a child and added the "buy back" discount of $2500 back on to our quote because as he put it "we're not helping him by committing right now so he can't help us later". DO NOT USE ARS!!!! They will make an appointment with you and then at the last minute call and reschedule. They've done this twice to me now. I work Monday - Friday so I made a Saturday appt to have a hot water heater installed through Home Depot. They called and said a plumber wasn't available and so could I reschedule for the next Saturday. I did, and they called this Saturday and rescheduled again. I don't think they have any plumbers that work Saturday, so hen don't schedule for Saturday!!! they're just trying to hook you into an appointment. Requested emergency plumbing service at 8:30 PM. Have had a contact with them for 20 years. Was told they would not send someone. They no longer offer emergency services even for people with contract. Their website still states that you can call 24/7 and they provide emergency service. Person on the phone then suggested we call a different plumber. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was here within 45 minutes. -5 stars ARS installed a system in June of 2025, it failed Horry County insoection 8/1/25 citing poor air flow, non working vents, and house felt very humid. This humidity issues was noted by a ARS tech late July 25 (before failure from HC). Subsequently I've purchased temp and humidity thermometers which has shown the same. 1 of 2 Techs (in my opinion) was was rude and unprofessional, didn't follow safety practices,broken lock set on fence, trampled mature planting, tore up edging that had to be reset; AND after they left and before this mess was found-(as I was in an Ortho boot-toe to knee-and could not climb ladder) the only persons in attic wee HC inspectors; and they assured me the inspectors didn't do this....there appeared to be storage boxes which appeared to be thrown creating a blockage/fire hazard from floor to peak about 8' long. in this what I would call vandalism multiple item were broken... I asked ARS to replace 1itemI in addition due to high humidity, the veneer on my 1930's dresser peeled from decking, in addition, the floors felt damp,, huge dust bunnies appeared every couple of days, woodwork was tacky, drawers and door stuck my dogs when into heat (humidity) excess most likely due to non working vents(again which worked previously) in their area along with high humidity. NONE if these things happened with my old system. I have asked that warranty be enforced with a FULL refund of 10,2K to be delivered on date of removal. ARS's responses so far are ... No to testing (walls), or for compromise of air quality, No to replace jar, no to reparing dresser. And tjey avoided question of distributing money on date of removal ( and the want to reduce it by the amount of a what I call a goodwill offer which included cleaning all messes up, coving broken loch torn out of fence, missed appointments, and te missed appointment, me providing lay v2v & hearing interpreter.every time they came out, and many many more reasons as waylaying my move, over 100 emails, having to contract corp to even get a response and now over 5 months of a failed system in my home. when I went north for a family funeral I set AC to a higher temperature as I would be gone... the high humidity seemed to just discipate What I have noticed about this over the last 5 months is:it appears to me as if system is running humidity goes higher often above 60 30-50 is cited as most comfortable especially for people with lung issues. ... if just auto fan on humidity doesnt seem to be a problem. as yet NOTHINg has been resolved. My shower head was running...way past the leaking point! And it was hot water...double whammy and utilities! So I was so glad to find ARS to come and fix it. Jeremy H. came and was a great guy he checked out the problem and figured up what it would take to fix it and after we approved it he was able to get it all done in great time as well. His work was done and he cleaned up any mess after. I couldn't even tell he'd been there except for my shower was fixed. I would say to anyone that needs a plumbing job done to call ARS. They only get a job at a time, so they won't be thinking about what they have to do next...they will be doing the job in your home or business and doing your job as long as it takes. Buyer beware. I'm a disabled veteran on a fixed income. Now I have to add another $1000.00 to a Carrier that is not even 2 years old. What I first thought was a solid decision by choosing ARS Myrtle Beach, has turned into a nightmare. My wife and I are sitting in a 86-degree house at midnight. It's 76 outside. August of 2022, we paid good money for a brand new Carrier unit. Never thought it would break down in less than 2 years. Being on a fixed income, and I have to purchase products and services with long-term reliability in mind. I can't afford not to. Carrier products, from what I'm told, are among the best. Thing is, the unit Myrtle Beach ARS installed gets almost zero use in the wintertime, which was true of our prior unit, also. So, there's very low miles on this new unit. Mike, the ARS technician comes by today to take a look. Tells me the blower is shot. $599.00 to install the warrantied part. He then goes outside to look at the compressor, finds a bad part there (and tells me, "It could just be a coincidence.") This tiny warrantied part was installed today at $444.00. Took him 15 minutes. We now have to wait for the blower, as it has to be ordered. So, for a total of $1043.00 of "warrantied" parts-installation cost, I'll be running again. 18 near-trouble-free years with a Goodman. Two years with an ARS-installed Carrier, and the thing broke down - both inside the house, and outside the house. Makes me think; it might not be the Carrier, but the original install in 2022. Many techs in the HVAC business say, "It's more important to have a quality install, than a top-tier HVAC unit." With ARS, I thought I was getting both. The double-breakdown could be a coincidence, but I have my doubts. Years of concern coming in my future. Be smart and move on. read more

Started off ok with them, but they're always recommending something every time they come, whether plumbing, electrical or HVAC. Recently had issue with support in the attic which caused a leak into bedroom. They installed a new unit 2 years ago. I continually called about why the integrity of the base was obviously not inspected, or did they just remove old one and install new one and move on. They quoted $2500 dollars to unhook and move, me have someone fix base, then they would install again. If I had called to tell them to come fix it and me pay $2500, they would've been here next day, but since I wanted to talk about their installation I got zero response. The last call I made I made it very clear that they will never provide service for me again. By the way, I'm having Beach Air, a veteran owned company, to do the entire job for a fraction of what ARS quoted. Hopefully, this will help some of you avoid the ARS experience. read more

Repair tech tells me there is a leak and I will have to pay for leak search and refrigerant just to find leak on top of service call, or get a new unit. He promised me a refund regarding faulty work that a technician "missed"on my July service visit well it's January and even though I supplied him with a video of a tear in my ductwork he has not issued that tefund!! I spoke with someone on Friday, January 3rd vwhich she was going to pass on to managementof this local office and someone would get back to me well today is January 15th and still no response from the management .... Our air handler is located in the basement and we noticed a lot of puddles around it. Note! My air conditioner was working fine! I called for service. The technician said I needed a new condensation pump. $500 and I asked him to check my UV lights. He checked and said one of them was out. $300 and he did his work. I paid $899 ($99 service call fee). Sometime later I noticed it was getting hot and went to my nest thermostat- it said no RH power wire connected and it could not connect to the unit. Here's where ARS totally fails when it comes to customer service. I called ASAP upon discovering this. I was told I would be the first appointment the next morning. I even received a text confirmation that my appointment time would be between 8:01 am and 8:01 am. Not their usual between 8 and 12 timeframe. I have now called 4 times today and all the call center will tell me is that I am scheduled for later this afternoon. I've been told 3 different times that they will have the dispatcher call me back which has NEVER happened. I asked to enter a complaint with the management and was told the management was off until Monday and wouldn't be able to assist me. I said in disgust- yeah Management is probably out enjoying their Saturday meanwhile I can't go do my life and enjoy MY Saturday because of your horrible customer service! If I had not already paid them $899 yesterday for two items that have absolutely nothing to do with my unit running or not I would definitely use someone else! My advice to anyone out there searching for a true blue, good customer service and professional company is to go elsewhere. Update: Showed up at 3:45 pm. Once the tech arrived, he stated they don't service water-cooled units. First, I'm baffled that a company exists in a market flooded with high-rises and water-sourced systems said that. Nonetheless he assured me that 'no problem - there's no charge. Second, that should have been stated before they seized my bank account info. Repeated calls over 5 days to the local Myrtle Beach office have yielded no response. Calls route to a call center in Texas and repeated lines to get you off the phone like "referring to accounting....referring to management", result in zero action. My next call will be the SC Atty. Our HVAC system was installed approximately nine months ago. The compressor stopped working two days ago. Yesterday a maintenance tech finally arrived at 5:15 PM, determined what the problem was and told us a service tech would be out to replace the compressor this morning. We were told three different times today that the tech was on his way. It is now 6 PM and we were now told no one can come out to do this until Monday. Meanwhile, our system is running on auxiliary power, creating an increase in our utility cost that will be reflected in next months billing. The ARS website claims they are available 24/7 for any emergency. Apparently they don't consider their customers' equipment failure to be an emergency. Three times we were promised a tech would call us with ETA, as he was just leaving his current job, three times no call came through. Dispatch apparently does not speak to their employees to determine why they are not where they are supposed to be. The HVAC system was originally purchased and installeded by ARS, so thankfully it is still under warranty. It's therefore obviously not possible to go to a different company for service. So we must wait two more days, relying on auxiliary (more costly) heat. Beware of ARS. It seems to us that their service does not appear to be as they promise it. read more

We used this company through Hime Depot to install a new heat pump and to secure our duct work up and off the ground. They were supposed to arrive at 9 AM. They did not arrive until noon. This caused them to be at our home still at 7 pm when it was dark. The installers said they had secured the duct work up off the ground but when we had it inspected the next day it was still on the ground. We have contacted ten every day for two and a half weeks and they continue to give us the run around but have not come back to do the promised work. My old and used parts were of better quality, and I decided to keep them in case I ever have a problem with our new home just up the road. I have been using ARS for about 3 years and spent over 20K with them. We were happy until the last interaction. We used our electric company's rebate and loan program for a hybrid water heater. We originally asked to have the water heater installed in our garage. The salesman was very aware that we were doing this through Santee Cooper's rebate program which he seemed familiar with. He talked us into installing the water heater in our laundry room which is a conditioned space. ARS signed off on the rebate paper work that clearly stated that the water heater had to be installed in an unconditioned space which is what we originally asked for to begin with. We had to remove our old water heater which left a huge spot on the laundry room flooring with no flooring and multiple holes drilled in our new flooring. Fast forward a coupe of months, Santee Cooper would not honor the rebate because the water heater was not installed in an unconditioned space. ARS came back out to move the water heater free of charge but was left with holes in the floor. We got 2 quotes for repairing the floor. One was just a patch job which is not what we wanted. The second was a complete repair to restore to it's original condition. They agreed to cover the cost to restore floor to it's original condition but actually sent a check for the patch job. Person answering phone will not go into details. It will cost you, up front. Unless you ask they'll charge you and I'll be honest. I recently had them come replace a single handle shower cartridge. The cost of the part at retail is $48, their charge to me $296!!!!! I had the clean a bathroom sink drain (15 minutes) while they were here, another $187!!!! they will say "you were quoted. This is true, but when a layman gets these quotes, they expect the service will know the extent of work and cost of materials. It is a definite ripoff of the consumer. The technician that was sent out had to leave to get a tool. Gone for an additional half hour (which we were out of water the whole time). Replaced a part. Showed us the 'wear' on the part. We had to have them return after 2 days of the shower having the same issues as before they 'fixed it'!! the same technician re-replaced the part. He then told us it may need a "sleeve' replaced behind it!!! Stay away from them!! they are in the part selling business and will overcharge for those as they send inexperienced techs to do the work!!! What a nice experience I had on 8/24. Jeremy, the ARS tech came out to my home and installed a new toilet in my master bath. He was a very polite young man with a solid work ethic. He did his job professionally and I give him an A+ for it. Later I discovered the water supply line was dripping a bit. I gave ARS a call around 7 pm and by 8:30 they sent out another tech, Alan, who promptly came in and re-tightened the connection. Who does this? ARS sure did it. The technician came promptly and arrived on time. He immediately went to work, but came back with "bad news." He wanted to do an expensive check of the entire system and told us that repair would be around $3300. At this point, he suggested that replacement might be a better option, but that he would not be able to make the estimate himself. He called the sales department who began to -hustle us- for a quick appointment. The salesperson would not take no for an answer. My wife reluctantly scheduled an appointment for next week just to get rid of the guy. I will be calling them back to cancel. And by the way, our local HVAC repairman came out and had a look at the system. He did not find the expensive problems the ARS carpetbagger found. He attributed our issues to faulty ductwork, which we already knew. The local guy demonstrated a different technique for operating our system, which worked perfectly. Started using them years ago, had new HVAC installed, it was very old, no pressure from them to do this. Very professional and very careful, clean installation. Everything was explained clearly. Yearly maintenance inspection. Professional, polite, answers my questions. Careful of my belongings, he has to climb up a ladder in my closet to access attic. Also had their electrician come to fix outlets, exterior and interior on porch. He was excellent, solved problem, reasonable cost. Had techs tell me that the company trains them well and has high standards, so far I am very satisfied with their services. The office staff has always been professional, polite and considerate. The easiest way to avoid hiring a less than honest business is to check Yelp Reviews, You are doing that right now. Wise Choice. ARS of Myrtle Beach was my plumbing and HAVAC provider for many years. They were a great local company. Many of the small companies in the Myrtle Beach area have grown in money-hungry monsters with an appetite for cash that is so strong they cannot get enough to eat--so they dine on the wallets of their own customers. They now even offer Veteran discounts. As a war vet myself, I would advise veterans to avoid ARS (the Myrtle Beach branch). If we came upon something in Vietnam to be avoided, --we would always warn those coming up behind us; thus this review. They turned a simple task to remove excess pressure in the fairly new AC system they had installed into a job replacing all of my coolant and changing out parts there was nothing wrong with for nearly two thousand dollars. I saved those parts and they were found to have nothing wrong with them. Those parts were still under warranty, but I had to pay for the new parts because I refused to give those old parts back. I put them on another unit that ran fine as long as I owned that property. I survived living on a base in Vietnam for a year while many in the surrounding jungle spent that year trying to harm me and everyone else living there. I also survived ARS Rescue Rooter of Myrtle Beach. My complaints to the BBB, who used to give ARS a good review--got me zero. If you are reading this review, you will know they never refunded my money. Don't be fooled by big companies that run expensive ads on tv. Just awful! Stay away. We purchased a new system (2 units) in 2020. The one unit failed in 6 months. The 2nd unit in the attic was not properly installed and water leaked into it from the installers moving the existing pipe and breaking the seal on the roof. ARS won't honor the 10 year labor warranty that we purchased and the parts warranty as they are saying that it was the water that caused the problem leaking into the system. The roofer that came took pictures and can demonstrate that the leak was caused by the installation. They are always trying to sell you things and NO ONE will return our calls. CROOKS! read more

Techs are not knowledgeable and will sell attempt to sell you unnecessary repairs and products. I had no heat and EM heat was always on, they said I needed first a new HVAC for $10k, then a new board for $2500 finally a new Nest thermostat they happen to have on the truck and was on promotion. That did not fox the problem at all. Another company (King mechanical which I HIGHLY recommend as honest and knowledgeable) fixed my issue after 1 year of no heat and very high electricity costs in 1 visit.
