I've lived downtown LBC for almost two years and somehow never noticed it before, but I ended up there for a date and it turned out to be the perfect Sunday afternoon vibe. It's a small, charming spot with a relaxed atmosphere. Just a heads up- there's no indoor seating, so everything is outdoors with a small patio setup. That said, when the weather is nice, it's actually ideal. It feels very laid back and intimate, like one of those hidden neighborhood gems you stumble upon. The employee working when we went was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a place feel even better. The wine I tried was really good, you can definitely tell it's natural wine (in a good way!). They also have small bites available if you want to snack while you drink, though we didn't end up ordering food. Parking is street parking in the area, which wasn't too difficult to find when we went. Overall it was just a really pleasant experience. Me and the hubby were walking around for the fourth Friday for the first time and came across this super cute wine bar. I love a good red wine but they were promoting a very cherry spritz that looked really good. It had white Pinot noir, cava, grenadine, lime and club soda ($15). The hubby ordered a Pinot Noir. I absolutely loved this wine bar. Places like this are a rarity in LA County, and if you disagree, please send recommendations my way. The fact that I've passed by this area so many times without noticing this little gem feels like a true tragedy. Though petite and easy to miss, this spot is something special. They specialize in natural wines, thoughtfully and selectively curated since they're not a winery themselves. The selection offers great variety, and because seating is limited, it's very much a first-come, first-served situation, arrive early if you want a seat. There's some indoor seating, with more available outside. The wine servers were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. They also host food vendors. There is a sushi spot right next door which is conveniently located next to the theater where you can score discounted bottles if you're catching a movie. I am not a wine drinker. When I am in a setting where liquor is being poured I opt for cocktails, not beer or wine. So please take these facts as framework for my opinion. I am basically a construction worker whose favorite pass-time is viewing sports for hours, indulges on highlights post the big game, and dreams of one day going to the Super Bowl with his squad in tow, who now has to review a ballet performed amidst rare florals in a world class garden. He might find some things cool and enjoy the experience for its part, but in reality does not have eye, knowledge or credible past to effectively appraise the whole. So I can speak to what I enjoyed of this Natural Wine bar but in reality I am not a developed wine drinker to speak with any type of authority. So use my information as you wish, given what I have shared. I strolled past this place. I had a reservation at a nearby establishment that was about an hour away. So I decided to try and find a wine that I might enjoy. I entered with severe reservations because I have drank wine but I have never had wine that I have enjoyed, more of tolerated.I just never found (or more accurately develop) the taste for wine. I informed a nutshell version of these words to the manager on duty, also the sole employee during my visit. I cannot remember his name, maybe Tyler, but this is a shot in the dark cellar. However, I do remember that he was an actor on a break, not his 15, but an extended break from his craft. He shared that he was busy with the role of manager for this establishment and the daily grind of life and its requirements. When I offered my advice, he nodded patiently. I knew he was tolerating my guidance, when I said making a choice to find time to pursue the dream and craft of being actor or accepting excuses not to, are both valid decisions and speak to his honest desire of being actor. Finding time for a climb is both sacrifice and requirement for planting a flag atop a mountain. I found the manager to be the greatest grape of the bunch, in case that was not made clear in this paragraph. He humored me. He is a great manager. In response to my explanation that I was not a wine drinker, except when it was sweet, he offered me a suggestion. He extended the bottle so I may take a picture. To be honest, I took his suggestion. I reviewed the picture and I think the wine is called Txakolina. I do remember that he described it as a fruity wine. I tasted it, and the white would do. I did not taste the fruits that were squeezed or stomped on to create this wine. But, I could sip it, and not wince, as I usually do with other wines so I drank and well, just found it to be ok. The place is small. Like I can imagine a rich person's closet being bigger. If you had 5 or 6 people inside, there were be no more room for others to fit in. However, a lot was made with the space. The place had a lot of pictures (artwork). I imagine these pictures to be the type of pictures that if you flip over, you see something else. The one that i have seen a lot is the one where you see a princess but if you flip it you seen an old woman. That is what the pictures were. I do not know the type of paintings these were, and I remind all that art is open to interpretation. The joint only has external sitting. My friend Conrad found playing cards and he thought me Speed, the game, not the Bullock driven action flick. As he showed me the game a gentleman paid attention. He picked up the game as I did. He was learning the game faster than I did. He wanted to play a future game. He told me a bit of his life. We chatted for a bit. His friend or date, looked annoyed. I understood her. She wanted to be with him. We were splitting his attention. But at the same time the space was so small that communal sitting is almost a given. and communal sitting lends itself to share conversation or awkward wall lifting. If you ever had a meal in a crowded place that only had communal sitting you know the deal--- do I talk to the people beside me, do I ignore them but how do I do that politely, or what if I want to talk to them cause they are cute, but they don't? Communal sittings offer these social experiments, I swear. I think that if you are more into wine you can assess this place better than me. I mean that is a fact. I did not understand wine so I could only assess service, and space, and social dynamics. read more

Came in for a follow up try of the place and the winetender at the front was so sweet and great energy. They even had the cutest floral scarf/choker on. We gave our preferences and they recommended two great wines! After a couple of minutes, they even came to check on us to make sure we enjoyed the wine or if we had any questions. Small things definitely make a difference! I will say it is a bit pricey but then again what isn't nowadays? It was $17 per glass that we ordered. We did however see that if you order a bottle to take to the theatre next door it is 20% off ... love a good sale! Overall, cute spot and the hospitality this time around made a huge difference! I'll need to try more wines to really see if overall the wines are great or we got lucky with the recommendations tonight. Either way go support a local wine shop & queer made wine! This place has been my go to for over a decade. A tiny little wine bar with big energy! I have met so many amazing people in the neighborhood as well from all of the wonderful world over! It's a vibe. Unpretentious + friendly way to begin your education into the natural wine world! I'm obsessed with this natural wine shop! ***LOCATION*** This tiny and charming wine bar is located in Retro Row, right next to the Art Theatre. Seating is mainly outside. There is a parklet to sit at and some benches right in front. ***EXPERIENCE*** We stopped by on a Friday evening around 9pm (they close at 10pm). I got us an incredibly delicious bottle of Biutiful Cava Brut. We sat on the benches outside. They had pillows and a small table. I loved that there were blankets. It was a chilly night and I adored wrapping myself in a large blanket with a great glass of wine and even better company. ***PRICE*** Our bottle and tip came out to about $64. It isn't necessarily a cheap spot, but it's a vibe and you're bound to have some really yummy wine. ***CONCLUSION*** This is a wonderful spot to go to before or after a show at the theatre. Took a stroll down 4th street this weekend to enjoy the nice weather and saw the cute outside set up that Art Du Vin has set up and instantly wanted to go there to enjoy the space! They have happy hour until 7, which consists of $13 glasses of selected wines. We tried "fire fuego," which is an orange wine that was not on happy hour and $17 a glass. I love a good orange wine though so I had to try it, and it was, fuego! My favorite was actually the happy hour glass I tried, which was called "one musk a night." It's a type of white wine that has a salty taste to it, I haven't had anything like this before and I loved it! This was also one of the staff pick's, Kelly's, great choice! After we paid we took our wine glasses in the cute outside area to people watch until we left. Was a great Saturday! read more

I've came here a long time ago, and now that I live in Long Beach, had to visit again! It's a great little spot. I like how simple and seating is on the street or on the shared bench inside and out. Service is easy order at the counter and they brought me some happy hour orange @ $45 which I thought was reasonable! Good vibe sitting outside on 4th retro row watching the area buzz with activity. That said, I'm super bummed about the loss of their parklet. It was a great expansion and kinda livened thins up IMO. This is one of my favorite places to chill out in Long Beach. The staff is super knowledgeable about wines. The outside seating area is super cute. It really encourages people to interact and be social with other groups outside of their own. There are also now extra outside seating that are high tops outside as well. If you are hungry, you can order food from next door. A great place to bring friends and pet friendly patio. One note for parents, they don't allow babies/kids on the patio. My first time here was on the last 4th Fridays. Every store and restaurant down 4th street was poppin - and Art Du Vin was no exception. I was very pleased to see their selection of natural and organic wines, but most of all I was super excited to see they offered orange wines!! I have been dying to try some for the last year or so. Luckily they were having a 20% off special on one of their Orange wines. It was called Disco! Sauv Blanc and it was delicious. We also tried another orange wine which was recommended by the girl working that night. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the full paper menu that weekend so I can't remember what this one was called, but I liked it even more than the Disco orange wine. After ordering inside we took our glasses outside to one of the tables along the street so we could people watch. Fast forward 2 days - I loved the orange wine so much I came back on Sunday afternoon with one of my girlfriends and we were pleasantly surprised to find out we came during their weekend happy hour! {FYI it is Sat/Sun from 3-6pm} We ordered a glass of the orange Tez and another glass of my favorite orange from Friday night. It's very tiny, but enough bar stools inside to maybe fit half a dozen people (I don't know why I don't just say "six"). But there is also patio seating with a heat lamp, that can also fit maybe 10 more people. The girl at the counter seemed pretty nice. She gave us samples of anything we thought about ordering. Didn't like the first two we sampled (shirazz and a white - can't remember the name), but we ultimately decided on an Australian wine. For the life of me I can't remember what it was called. However, it was a delight! We paired it with a brie-like cheese (also can't remember what it was called). P.S. - Always makes sense to buy a bottle vs a glass.
