Impressed by this Long Beach sports pub. I visited recently with a group of friends to grab some lunch and watch a hockey game. Firkin Pub has the perfect set up for this combo. This spot is great for small groups, and has visibility to several TVs scattered across the bar. We ordered a variety of apps, including the spinach and artichoke dip and the fried pickles. Both are musts. I also grabbed the Fungi burger with a turkey patty. This burger was layered with mushrooms, blue cheese, and a thick thick patty. Absolutely delicious and easily enough food for two people. This entree also comes paired with shoe string fries, which should not be overlooked. read more

I visited The Firkin a while ago and had an overall great experience! I was able to bring along my fur baby on their outdoor patio, which was a huge plus. The British-themed decor is cozy and charming, giving the place a unique pub feel. My boyfriend and I opted for some brews alongside our meals. He ordered the BBQ burger, and I had the fried cod and chips. The fish had a nice panko-crusted breading, and the steak fries were a great touch. I also really enjoyed their tartar sauce! As for the service, I have no complaints. The gentleman who took care of us that evening was hospitable, attentive, and pleasant throughout our visit. The speed of service was also right on par with what you'd expect. I have always looooooved firkin. the food, the staff, the trivia, the patio. such a homey space that has been a constant for me in the neighborhood. but last weekend I went in for breakfast and was like YO?? They have breakfast?! delicious too omg! any of the scrambles can be a breakfast burrito. anyway I love all things firkin in the evenings but I most def will be coming back here for breakfast. My friends who live in Long Beach took us for a walk near their home to Firkin! First of all, the walk was nice. It was through residential areas and a lot of home were festively decorated for Halloween! Once there, we went to the patio to find a table to fit all of us; we were 8. We found a table but partially it was under the sun. The server saw that and brought us an umbrella. And later on another group left, and he brought us their umbrella. Thanks man! That helped a couple of us from sunbathing. I ordered the Firkin steak sandwich. It was good, but after tasting my friends fish (cod) and chips, I wished I had ordered that. That was super yummy and I'll definitely visit again for that dish. My Bloody Mary, per my request, was made spicier than normal. Thanks again Firkin! Our plan was to play games and Firkin does carry board games, although we brought our own, but we were too busy eating, drinking and chatting. Time just flew by. I go to The Firkin with my Capoeira buddies after class for delicious food and great company. They have an awesome patio with cozy firepits, and you can always catch your favorite game on one of their many TVs. We usually walk in about an hour and a half before closing, and Kelly always makes sure we get our orders in before the kitchen closes. She even remembers all our preferences -- who drinks soda water, who likes still water, and who doesn't want ice. By the time we sit down, our drinks are already on the table without us having to ask. Our group is so grateful for how warmly this place welcomes us every time we come in after training. The service always feels personal and genuine. Food-wise, I highly recommend the Goddess Salad with heart cakes -- soooo good! I also love that they accommodate my special request: a plain salad with a turkey patty on top. And if it's cold out, definitely try the Hot Toddy -- it's perfect. Went there with some family today. Well the server was very nice and polite. The food we got was cold. As something that should be piping hot was lukewarm. I really wanted to like The Firkin since it's close to home, and I just moved to the neighborhood but after two bad experiences, I won't be back. Last week, my order was missing the chips that were supposed to come with it. I decided to give them another chance, but this time was even worse. We sat on the patio--there were only four people inside the restaurant, so it definitely wasn't busy. Our waitress never checked on us once. At one point she even brought out the wrong order, but after that, she disappeared completely. We waited over 35 minutes for a simple sandwich and salad with no update. When I finally went inside to ask, she admitted she had never even sent our order to the kitchen. No apology, no effort to make it right--just nothing. At that point, we left. When a place is nearly empty and customers are left waiting with zero communication, that's not just a mistake--it's bad service. Really disappointing. read more

Visited Firkin for the 1st time based on recommendation from a friend. The service and atmosphere was friendly! We had a few glasses of wine and split an absolutely delicious and large swordfish wrap! Yummy. Swordfish is such a treat and splitting it was a perfect portion for each of us. Came from Rancho Cucamonga with 30 minutes before my appointment, needed a quick bite and found this place. Hard to find street parking but, I got lucky. Although a little dark, I walked to the back towards the patio seating. Staff was friendly and helpful. I explained I needed a quick lunch. I wish I was more hungry cause their recommendations looks good. I settled for snacking style lunch: zucchini sticks and cod fish and chips. They came out hot and crispy. I really with I could have enjoyed a nice cold beer with the food. If I have to drive out there again, I would be happy to try more of their menu. read more

Well a group of us showed up sunday at 2pm. We needed a extra table added for our group and one person said no problem so we sat down and were waiting for them so we could move it. Some time passed. Nobody came back to take our order for like 30 min. No drink orders, nothing. More people showed up still no sign of help. Then we asked about moving the table again and a different kid said how about if we move u to the other side. I said no. Told them we had got the okay from another employee he tried to say he couldn't do it. We finally got to order drinks and they took forever to come out and then the appetizers came. We planned on eating full meals here and service was so bad we went to another restaurant. The appetizers were good. Drinks were basic. Dont get espresso martinis here. Good Irish Pub in Belmont Heights just East of Redondo on Broadway. The old EJ Malloy's spot close to the Attic. Street parking only. The bar and the service are great. They have a nice outdoor patio with a gas fire pit. You can bring your dog. I just took one start off because the food is lacking some. The glazed brussels sprouts were great 10/10! Cooked very well with a nice house glaze. The burger had fresh meat and good flavor 8/10. But the French fries were hard and flavorless, like they had been sitting under a light for an hour 2/10. I don't know how someone spent time preparing a beautiful burger and put those old hard fries on the plate with it. The prices are good here too. Our waiter Lee was a 10/10. read more

Came here on Sunday may 26th around 6pm and was treated terribly. The female bartender(short,black hair) was overwhelmed that 20 people that happened to know each other showed up.She asked if we planned to all show up at the same time and if we all knew each other.....yes we planned to come spend money on food and drinks isn't that what you do at a bar? My experience. So we walk in sit on the patio she ask if we want drinks my girl orders a tea that never came. I wanted food so I was going to order it when she came back and this is when she noticed more people we knew started to roll in because we all arrived staggered. At this point she told other people from our party that they have to order at the bar she won't come out to the patio....so they did and when they went to order at the bar she said we can wait at the bar or we can wait on the patio but she wont serve us because she is too busy helping other people. Also when we got there we asked her to turn on the heater and she said "honestly it broke yesterday" but when we asked the other guy bartender (with the goatee) who was cool! He just changed the propane and turned it on. It's sad because the food looked good and I really wanted to order something but just ended up leaving because the bartender didn't feel like working that hard that night. This review is mainly for the owner to see. You should fire her. Or put out a sign that says can't come in with people you know or else you won't get service read more

My dog and I both love this place!!! Um, super close to the dog beach so we came after and this place rocked cuz they have hella vegan/vegetarian options (which feels rare in general, but ESPECIALLY for a pub typa vibe!!!!) and their courtyard/patio situation was cute as fuck. Everyone who interacted with us was hella nice, waiter hustled for like 6 min to light up a fire for us--much appreciated. My bbq seitan sandwich was soooooo fire, that shit was loaded! And they had a water bowl for my dog.... Nothing better than a dog loving restaurant w an abundance of vegetarian choices. And reasonably priced asf too, tbh. Came in with my friends that are regulars. I understand that Long Beach is very communal and locals only and blah blah blah but to me, the service was completely complacent. I asked simple straight forward questions and the female waitress acted annoyed. We weren't greeted with menus until later. It's a simple question to ask how things are prepared. We had fries delivered to the table. The cheese sauce was gritty, the fries were undercooked. She rudely asked the plate to be moved over for the wings. She asked if we needed anything and I said salt. She rudely said "I was just about to get that." Honey, I work in the industry. It's so easy to just say of course and get it. She had long blonde hair. Maybe get another job if you don't know how to do this one. Pretty much turned off the rest of the evening for me. Wings tasted like they were cooked in old oil. If I could give zero stars I would. It would be one thing if she did anything nice but she didn't. I ended up just ignoring her presence. Nothing was redeemable. I love a good pub and this place did not disappoint. From the vibe, excellent service right down to the food...it was fantastic. I'm vegan so I was so happy to see they offered so many vegan options. I ordered their vegan burger with fries and the burger was AMAZING because it had a nice crispy char around the edges. Thinking of it now makes me want to head there right now. I ordered the burger with a slice of vegan cheese but they ran out so they subbed it with their house made cheese sauce which was a happy accident because it was so good! I think they said they make it with potato and cashew? It also made a good dipping sauce for my fries which were also good. Our waiter and the bartender were great. If they saw a drink was down they'd come over and ask if we'd like another, checked up on us, apologetic when they ran out of the cheese and just overall very good customer service. Never have I had the absolute worst service from a waitress last night. I dont even want to give 1 star because that's too high of a star for the service she gave. The furnace wasn't broken, she just didn't bother to change the propane gas. We asked to change the game on the tv in the patio. She didn't. She made us go to the bar to order because she said she can't serve us. It was 40 min wait for my food. Then, when she sees little to no tip for her shitty ass service, she denies to continue serving. Tipping is a reflection of her service. wouldve gladly given great tip but you shouldn't have the audacity to expect tip when you were rude the entire time. We tried to celebrate St. Patrick's day at the Firkin and arrived just after 5pm, but it was already packed at that time. There was no organization in terms of signing in for a table or anything like that, it was everyone for themselves. So, basically, show up and grab a spot. Also, there were no time limits for tables, so by the time 5pm rolled around, all tables were taken and people settled in for who knows how long. It would have been better if they had a sign in list for tables (at least for the outdoor area) and enforced a time limit like the Ordinarie does. We went to the Attic instead, and we'll know to avoid the Firkin for St. Patrick's day in the future. read more

I liked this place a lot. You walk by it and it looks like an old "main street style" store with a lot of windows and a wood and window frame with the Firkin name etched on. Going in, it looks like a old school bar with a lot of wooden accents all over. I loved the tennis stuff because that's one of my favorites to watch. The group I was at sat at the back where they had four TVs in a square. It reminded me of one of those pizza joints. Getting to the drinks, they had TrustedGut's blonde and I enjoyed that. We tried the buffalo wings and fries and both of them were good. The zucchini sticks were very unusual but the waitress got our concerns and kept it off the bill. The ranch was quite watery so I hope they fix that because it barely stuck to the veggies let alone the wings. We eventually did sit outside where it was nice and the chairs had pillows and such. My girlfriend had gin and tonic. After trying them, it was pretty good. I will definitely come back to try a burger and maybe a sandwich. read more

Yooooooooooooooooo! For pub food to taste this good was surprising, we came here for drinks but being always hungry to taste food everywhere I go I had to order a few items to test it out. For starters I ordered the onion rings, cauliflower buffalo wings, fried zucchini and naked chicken wings for me and my friends to share and our favorite was the fried zucchini and the naked chicken wings. We loved how the fried zucchini aren't skinny like charbroiled places typically serve and crispy and the fried chicken wings were perfectly fried not over cooked at all. For the cauliflower buffalo wings it just wasn't for us, maybe less sauce would have been better or we just didn't like the buffalo sauce with it. My friends got the Nashville hot chicken and I got the western burger and we split both so we can try each, I really enjoyed the western burger it was perfectly cooked medium just how we liked it and the fries are shoe string fries so they were perfectly crispy!!! For the Nashville hot chicken to us it was pretty MID but if you're a fan of chicken sandwiches then maybe you would enjoy it more. The service was absolutely good and the servers explained everything properly like how they sell chicken wings in pounds and not by pieces which was different lol and ambiance was your normal bar/pub standard. read more

Firkin was a little surprise, food was good, drinks were good, ambiance was good, service was good...they have an adorable hidden patio in back with firepit that was pet and kid friendly. My only complaint was my wings were TINY! The smallest I've ever had, they look bigger in the photo than in real life, they were like baby chicken wings for $16, that made me sad (lol), but flavor and crispness were good.
