It was not explained that tastings take place only at certain times. On arrival to the store the times were explained, and I wish it would have been said over the phone. The store is very dark, dusty, and not very welcoming. The staff member present continuously worked at the counter, not looking up and did not offer assistance. It felt strange that they only acknowledged us when we inquired about the wine tasting on arrival. I will not be patronizing or attending any events here, very disappointing. We could smell the curry broth coming from the kitchen before they arrived and immediately knew we had made the right choice. Served with frites for dipping, it was one of those simple, satisfying dishes that you keep thinking about afterward They were also streaming the Korea match and thoughtfully seated us near the projector, which made the experience even more enjoyable. There was also a corner that hosted a live band. When we arrived, no one was playing yet. The crowd seemed to be more of the younger hipster vibe. A completely different crowd from the LA scenes. Getting a drink wasn't that bad even though it was busy. I happened to get lucky when someone moved from the bar stool for me to approach. I was a little surprised when the wine I ordered was in a box...lol... I mean, it was whatever. Some options were for a glass only or for both a glass or bottle. But when it came to checking out, tipping options went from 20 25 percent to 30 percent. Wasn't used to that as an option as it's not like you're dinning in. Anyway, the surprise was when we walked out and seen that they had a massive back patio. It was hard finding a seat as it was packed. There was also a food trunk on deck but wasn't sure what they were serving. We noticed people with hotdogs and someone with a box of pizza. Not sure if it's from the vendor or if you're allowed outside food in. The vibe was fun, the crowd was lively and everyone there for a good time. It's more of a younger scene. Bartenders are cool and not pretentious for how cool the space is. Friendly, welcoming and diverse. Come out and support. Parking sucks. It's 4th Street. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It had your key ingredients: iceberg, buttermilk dressing, red onion, crumbled egg, tomato, bacon gastrique, blue cheese, dill, chives - but something about this salad was different!
