Met up with my crew here for dinner the other night. This place has been on my bucket list for a while so very excited to finally be able to eat here. The food was delicious. We got the bang bang shrimp to start off with as well as the bok choy. Both were very flavorful. I loved the crunchiness of the bok choy. I have never eaten it that way, and was truly amazed. For the main on trees, we got the pas se ewe, pineapple fried shrimp, ribs, and orange chicken. Everything we ate was so delicious. Loved the fact that the orange chicken was not really bready. The pineapple fried rice was not my choice, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well it tasted, and how the raisins complimented the flavors. The rib was melt in your mouth and the sauce that went along with it to die for. The four stars is mainly for the food. The service was slow and we had to ask the busboy to find our waitress so we could place our order. That being said once we did place our order the food came out very quickly. Of course this is Long Beach so parking is going to be tough, but it will be worth it to try this food. Second time at Kin, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Parking absolutely blows ans you will most likely have to park on the street since the lot is tiny. Restaurant is packed, so place resos if possible. Food here is absolutely delicious. Notable dishes for me are the Pad See Ew with the giant shrimp and the Salmon Larb. Pad See ew had such a good wok fry essence. So flavorful, and perfect blend of savory and slight sweetness. Chinese broccoli nicely wok fried. The shrimp was jumbo and so succulent. Salmon Larb was perfectly cooked with fried cubes of juicy flavorful salmon. Tossed in fresh mint, cilantro, scallions, a ton of fresh lime juice, chili flakes, red onions and lettuce. The toasted rice powder was definitely apparent as every Larb dish should have. Slightly different take of Larb, bit more modernized and tweaked cause definitely a salad with the lettuce versus served with the cabbage and cucumber on the side. I don't think you can go wrong with what you order. Definitely fusion of authentic with a modernized American feel. Cocktails were excellent and recommend their Tamarind Spicy drink, don't remember the name but it was so good. Unfortunately no photos cause we weee hungry and just cleared out the food as it came out. Service is straight forward. Came by on a Thursday night and got seated immediately... and then watched the line form right behind us. Timing has never been one of my talents, but apparently it was that night. Parking is a bit of a game of chance thanks to the tiny lot, so plan accordingly. Once you're inside though, the restaurant is super clean, modern, and the service is fast and attentive. We started with the papaya salad. It was just okay--I'm still trying to figure out why there was a blanket of romaine lettuce casually lounging on top. I ordered medium spice, which turned out to be "medium if you breathe fire for fun." The papaya was also a little more raw than I personally like. The tom kha soup was decent, but the real MVP was the drunken noodles with beef. Those noodles were absolutely swimming in savory goodness and perfectly soft. I was showing a NorCal friend around since I picked her up from LB and we needed to eat before visiting the aquarium. Originally, we were going to try to hit up Zuzu's petal, but the line was ridiculously long and the parking was a nightmare, so I decided to take her to my 2nd choice, which was Kin Long. First and foremost, they have their own parking lot, so YAY! It's starting to sound like my standards are low, but they aren't. OMG- their restroom is clean! JK. From the outside, it looked nice enough, but I was impressed when we entered. It had a comfy, modern, clean, and beachy elegance to it (the lights and that chandelier) without it being stuffy or looking disjointed in terms of interior decor. Servers were very polite and accommodating. I let my friend order since she was the guest. She ordered the garlic shrimp noodles and scampi shrimp to share, and the Thai tea drink with the ice cream bar. I ordered 3 cocktails (Jalapeno + tamarind, Lychee, and Thai tea martini) and they were all good (not overly sweet and weak sauce, but balanced, tasty, and had the right amount of buzz). We had a light lunch since we had AYCE hot pot later that evening (Mikiya - yes I'm a good host). The garlic noodles exceeded my expectations - shrimp were huge, seasoned well, and just cooked through, the noodles were broad, float, tender, and had a slight chewiness to it. The scampi shrimp were huge, tasty, succulent, and cooked perfectly (not surprised since the shrimp with the garlic noodles were so good). NOTHING WAS OVERCOOKED OR MADE ME GO.... "MEH...." and I've been to many Thai restaurants even the highly stylized kitschy ones like Farmhouse Thai in SF. The waiters were very attentive. They made their rounds to make sure waters were filled and all guests were taken care of. It helps they were also handsome too! LOL. I generally find many places nice in the competitive LA, but not nice enough for me to travel from the SGV. However, I will go out of my way to visit KL again to try the rest of their menu (drunken noodles, pork jerky, crab fried rice, papaya salad, etc.) because they left a good impression with me. This place was such a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it looks pretty unassuming, but once you step inside, it's actually incredibly cute and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff always seem annoyed and anxious to kick customers out near closing. Regardless, I'll still keep coming back as it's worth dealing with in exchange for everything else being good. If you're looking for a solid Thai spot in Long Beach, this has become one of our family's feel good go to places. Every dish we've tried has been full of flavor and genuinely worth ordering. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. The service has always been great, the food comes out quickly, and the portions/prices feel reasonable. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. Parking has been easy for us so far since there's both a parking lot and nearby street parking. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that's officially in our regular rotation. read more

I had a friend recommend this spot and had to immediately come check it out. I had been craving Thai food and there aren't many options over on my neck of the woods so we made the drive to Long Beach. Upon arriving, we were greeted and asked to sit to wait for a table. It was busy but not crowded. The waitress handed us menus to look at while we waited for a table which was a nice gesture and allowed us to be ready when seated. It took less than 10 min to get seated. Once seated, they were fairly quick to come and take our order. We ordered: 1. Satay chicken 2. Yellow Curry with Chicken 3. Beef Pad See Ew and 4. Shrimp Pad Thai Everything was absolutely amazing! I could eat yellow curry for the rest of my life and this was one of the best ones I've had. We did get a red Eden cocktail and a beer. One of the various stops on my friend's bday food crawl last month. Definitely a delicious Thai food restaurant that bring tons of flavors. Kin Long Beach is located on the corner of E Broadway and Alamitos Ave, with the restaurant on the E Broadway side of the street. The lot is small and I don't know if there is any other parking options besides street parking (not my fav). Found a spot right out front luckily! The restaurant front it unassuming, with the plain yellow signage at the top. Don't let that fool you how beautiful and modern the inside is. Small to medium sized space but beautiful. What I can only describe as golden basket house pendant lights, dark wood beams and an open area design the space looks much bigger. It's separated by 2-seater tables on the right, 4-6 group tables on the left, a beautiful private10-person banquet room with more upscale cushioned seating and a TV, which then leads to an outside dining space, which is where we sat. The server was very kind and answered all our questions. I started with a Ruby Fizz for a drink, while my friend ordered the Thai Ice Tea. The Ruby Fizz is a gin based drink, but you could hardly tell it was in it which is exactly how I like my drinks. It was delicious! The Thai Ice Tea is definitely a show piece but every bit delicious. It comes with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melts into the drink. For food we ordered the Chicken Satay, Beef Pad See Ew, Avacado Curry, and Pad Thai. The Chicken Stay was nice a juicy and the peanut sauce went well with it. Pad See Ew was savory with nicely charred noodles, the Pad Thai was everyone's favorite and my friends said the best they've had so far, sweet and tangy, tender noodles, and we got it with beef. Now the Avacado curry was my favorite! Red curry spice, creaminess coming from coconut milk, and the perfectly sliced avacado adding more creaminess to it. We couldn't find any parking besides a parking lot directly across the street which turned out to be for Roscoe's (oops). The pad thai was sweeter than we preferred. The panang curry was pretty good. There were many pieces of braised beef and artichoke. Went really well with the included white rice. The Thai tea with popsicle was good. We prefer it creamier or with more milk though. It tastes better when the popsicle melts into the beverage or in our case we broke the popsicle down into the tea. Kin Long Beach - Late Lunch Gem I stopped by Kin Long Beach for a late lunch around 1:00 PM and was able to catch their lunch special just before they closed at 2:30 PM. Honestly, the experience was so warm and welcoming--it felt like they gave me a little extra grace while they were transitioning into their dinner service at 5 PM, which I truly appreciated. Food: I started with the calamari (salt & pepper style), and it had this nice kick--almost like a mix of Sriracha and Tajín--with a dipping sauce and lime on the side. The batter did fall apart a bit when picking it up with chopsticks, but the flavor and crunch definitely made up for it. I also ordered a Thai tea that came with a large popsicle--such a cute and unique touch--and it kept my drink cold as it melted. For my entrée, I had the shrimp Pad Thai from the lunch special, and the presentation alone was beautiful. It came with a fresh spring vegetable roll and a side salad with cherry tomatoes and a creamy balsamic vinaigrette that I absolutely loved. My guest ordered the colossal crab fried rice, which was just as impressive. I also loved that they bring out their signature spice rack so you can customize your heat level. My family and I were heading to the Aquarium of the Pacific and wanted to find a good dinner spot nearby afterward. I came across this place on TikTok because of their famous Thai tea popsicle, so naturally I had high hopes. First off, we got incredibly lucky with parking. I can definitely see how parking could be a nightmare since the lot is tiny, so consider finding a spot part of the dining experience. When we arrived, the inside was cute and seemed clean. We were seated outside, which also looked nice at first glance, but I noticed quite a few spider webs around the windows. My boyfriend even felt webs brushing against his arm while we were sitting there, which wasn't exactly the extra ambiance we were expecting. We ordered quite a bit: spicy Pad Thai, Bang Bang Shrimp, Pad See Ew, mango sticky rice, and of course the Thai tea with the popsicle. I'll give credit where it's due. The Bang Bang Shrimp was easily the best thing we ordered and was absolutely delicious. The Thai tea popsicle also lived up to the TikTok hype, although the actual Thai tea itself was on the sweeter side. If you love sugar, you'll probably enjoy it. My biggest complaint with the food was the spicy Pad Thai. The flavor was great, but it came with what felt like a whole chicken farm and a cameo appearance from the noodles. I ordered Pad Thai, not chicken with noodle garnish. The Pad See Ew was also noticeably salty. Now you're probably wondering why I'm giving this place a low rating if most of the food was decent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. When it was time to pay, my aunt was figuring out how much everyone needed to Zelle her since the restaurant only allows a maximum of two cards for split payments. While we were trying to do the math, our waiter stood over us watching the payment screen like he was supervising a final exam. He was clearly waiting to make sure a tip was entered. My aunt politely asked him to give us a minute, and thankfully he walked away. Maybe when you see a family actively calculating a bill, that's your cue to...actually give them a minute. Keep in mind we also tipped 20% despite all this. Throughout the meal, he did stop by our table, but it rarely felt like he was checking in to make sure everything was okay. If anything I felt rushed. He also gave off that "customer service smile" that disappears the moment you stop looking. The cherry on top for me happened as we were leaving. We had been sitting on the outdoor patio talking for a bit after paying, which is pretty normal for my family. Before leaving, I went inside to ask where the restroom was. The guy and girl behind the bar looked at each other, laughed, and then asked if I was a paying customer. Keep in mind, I was literally holding a to-go bag with leftovers from the restaurant. I responded, "Yeah, I just finished eating," while holding up the bag that made it painfully obvious. Only then did they tell me where the restroom was. Nothing says "valued customer" quite like being interrogated about whether you actually ate there while carrying your leftovers. It's unfortunate because the food had some highlights, and the restaurant itself has a cute atmosphere. But the service made it feel like customers are viewed more as transactions than guests. Between hovering over us during payment and questioning whether I even belonged there after spending money, I left feeling more unwelcomed than satisfied. I'll happily support a restaurant that appreciates my business instead of making me feel like I have to prove I earned the right to use the restroom after paying for dinner. read more

We ordered the Thai fried rice with chicken and the coconut soup with chicken, both at medium spice, and wow, the spice level was no joke. If you're sensitive to heat, definitely go mild. Medium was much spicier than we expected! That said, the flavors were incredible. We also tried the baby back barbecue ribs, and they were so tender and delicious. They leaned a little on the salty side, but still totally worth it and packed with flavor. Probably hands down the best Thai food I've had in my life so far - I guess I haven't had too much Thai food in the past and I've definitely never been to Thailand before but this is THE spot. The green papaya salad was so crisp and refreshing, but somehow savory at the same time?? It was just made really well. And the panang curry just had such a nice umami aftertaste to it. Pad thai was solid too. I didn't get to try their drinks this time but I sure will if I ever get to come here again, they got a full bar inside in its own separate area. The interior is quite modern and classy, which is quite a surprise for thai spots. It definitely fit the occasion seeing we were there for New Years. The waiters also checked in often enough. Love this place! Came here for Valentines day and I would definitely come back. I was already talking about what I want to try next time as there seems to be a lot of great food and drink options. The food was absolutely delicious and they don't skimp out on the crab. You'll want to ask for some chili garlic sauce on the side to make it spicy. I finally got to try mango sticky rice for the first time, it was different from what I expected, but it's was good. Not too sweet, and it was almost like a warm oatmeal like texture with the mango on top. I probably wouldn't order that desert again though, but maybe it's not for me. I love KIN! Everything is actually spicy, and the food is good. I think it's a great casual spot for a first date, as there is a full bar menu and a beautiful interior. The yellow curry here is interesting as it contains capers, which I thought added a nice briny punch to the sweet curry. The hunger really kicked in after biking through San Gabriel River Trail all morning, so we searched on Yelp for a nearby place to have lunch. After some deliberations, we decided on Kin of Long Beach with its raving reviews. The restaurant sits on a corner lot with its own parking lot large enough for 30 cars. Inside, the decor is an East-West fusion, blending chandeliers with traditional Asian lamps. The combo of booths and bar counter seatings can accommodate around 80 guests. The courteous host guided us to our table and the waiter brough water and menu right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following dishes: Green Papaya Salad: The dressing was nicely tangy, and the thinly sliced papaya strands were refreshingly crunchy. Peanuts, shrimps and tomatoes complemented the salad perfectly. Salt & Pepper Calamari: The mildly seasoned and battered calamari rings were crispy outside and soft inside. Perfect to dip them into the sweet and sour Thai chili sauce. Fried garlic and onion bits gave the appetizer a pleasant extra flavor. Salmon Fish Curry: The lightly flavored curry sauce was subtly spicy with a tad of sweetness. The wide egg noodles' texture was on the soft side. The salmon pieces were tender and savory. The bean sprouts and onions went well with the rest of the dish. Colossal Crab Meat Pad Thai: The tamarind sauce was gently savory, tangy and slightly sweet. The thin noodles were perfectly cooked, and the crab meat was super juicy. The fried scrambled egg and fresh bean sprouts balanced the dish's tanginess. There is plenty of parking here and is located right on the corner of alamitos and broadway. This place was beautiful inside modern decor and ambiance with nice dim lighting forgot to take pictures though. They have very decent prices for all their items which is great! Plus they do not skimp on portions. I ordered their bang bang shrimp and tom kha with shrimp i didnt care for their bang bang shrimp it was just deep fried shrimp with aioli sauce on top but the tom kha was flavor. For entrees i ordered their thai fried rice with beef which was a must and their garlic noodle which has bacon bits and parmsean something different and not as authentic but i really enjoyed this dish FLAVOR! The trendiest and most contemporary looking Thai restaurant I've seen so far. The ambiance is so chic and inviting. A great place for dates or a group. I've only eaten here twice and the service has been attentive each time. Unfortunately, food does not have authentic flavors. It does not taste bad but for some reason they put way too much sugar in almost all their dishes like the curry and shrimp pad Thai noodles. Love coming here and is my go to spot. Ordered the Spicy pad Thai with chicken along with a Large Tom ka with veggies to share. Chicken is a little dry when you order out but at the restaurant is better and more moist. The tom ka is good enough for two but I would order it with something else. Thai iced tea is unique here. KIN Thai Cuisine in Long Beach off Broadway is a really solid spot. Parking is available, but it is limited, so just keep that in mind depending on the time you go. The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back. TLDR: "Food flavors aren't bad. They just aren't authentic Thai food." As someone who grew up in Bangkok, I need to be brutally honest when it comes to Thai food review. PAD THAI TOFU First thing first, I feel skeptical when there are no chopsticks for a noodle dish. Pad Thai with green onions is never a good sign. The flavor is ok. You can tell it's cooked with the premade Pad Thai sauce. It didn't hit me with the fresh, wok-burnt aroma. Their Pad Thai just reminds me of a Pad Thai dish from a Thai restaurant in Garden Grove that I thought was one of the worst I've ever had. BASIL GARLIC SAUCE I was expecting this dish to be like the "pad krapow" because the name is "basil." It turns out totally different than what I've had in mind. The flavor is pretty good, but the beef is overcooked and very tough to chew. Overall, it seems like lots of people bring their dates here.
