Call me a Sweet Costo loyalist! Shelby is a pastry chef that specializes in some fantastic local…read moretreats. While she has no brick and mortar right now, she's exceptional at communicating about upcoming goods she's selling. Follow Sweet Costo on social media and you'll be the first to know when she's shipping out! I've had many marvelous treats from Sweet Costo, but my favorite is by far the S'mores Brownies. My family placed an order during her last offering and I am embarrassed at how quickly they went. They are the perfect amount of chewy but ironically NOT a giant sugar rush. You could sit there eating and eating them. I also sent some out as a gift to a friend on the covid frontlines and she LOVED them. Shipping was very reliable! Our other favorite item by Sweet Costo is her decadent macarons. The best part about Sweet Costo is that Shelby is a kind and good-hearted person. I always like to give my business to genuinely good people and I am blessed to know Shelby.

She was very patient and helped steer us in the right direction. Second, the treats were amazing! We ordered the Botanical Bramble and the Wired Irishman cake bars. They were beautiful and big enough to cut in half so everyone could sample each. And they were sooo good. Thank you, Shelby!

Pro Tip: Visit to get a pic by their cool Lakewood mural inside the store…read more Walking into Burning River Coffee was a bit like stumbling into a local secret - a combo of smoke shop and coffee shop. The front is unassuming, and this combo isn't something you see every day, but somehow, it works... or at least, it's interesting enough to give it a shot. I visited the coffee shop side while working nearby (walking distance) at the co-working center (Icon Cowork). I ordered the red eye. Honestly? It delivered. It wired me for days. It was extremely strong and not well crafted (too much, definitely not barista made). But boy did it do its job. While at the coffee shop, I noticed a small menu of other drinks and no baked goods in the case. It just really had the basics. Service was very quick. The barista (who worked both sides of the house) was nice enough, but the vibe was more transactional than inviting. Not rude, just kind of indifferent. The space had enough tables to sit at and very quiet atmosphere. One thing I couldn't ignore was the scent of vape juice hanging in the air. It didn't bother me personally, but I can see how that could be a turn-off if you're expecting more of a traditional coffee shop aesthetic. Of note is that both sides of the business have the same entrance. They're working on dividing the space into two separate ones according to my quick chat with the employee. Currently the coffee shop has no age restrictions while the smoke shop is 21+. Overall? Burning River Coffee is quirky and good for a simple cup of coffee. It's not a textbook coffee shop experience -- it's its own thing. Just don't expect the usual indie-coffeehouse playlist and aesthetic. Expect something unexpected and different.

Another "don't judge a book by its cover" review. It is more of a coffee bar inside a vape shop,…read morethan it is an actual coffee shop. The location is great to walk to neighborhood shops and restaurants in Lakewood. The friendly staffer really worked her latte magic! She said she always adds a little bit of vanilla to punch up the flavors of the lattes. The coffees were so good. I also appreciated that they used lots of ice....perfectly cold and creamy. The baked goods looked nothing like the pictures on Yelp, but they did have several vegan and gf options. This morning they also had fresh cinnamon rolls.
