I brought my husband here for a date night on a Friday evening for one of their classes. The class was a lot of fun! My husband enjoys both making and looking at art, but I'm definitely a beginner. The class was enjoyable for both of us. Our instructor took us through each step of the painting. It was a little fast sometimes, but I understand we have a limited amount of time. She did come around occasionally to offer help and answer questions. While our final paintings didn't quite look like the model, we still had a fun time! The drinks were fairly decent as well. My husband had a drink with hot cocoa, coffee, and Rumchata which was very cozy and would be a perfect fall/winter drink. I had the Elderflower Sparkler which was sweet and fizzy. We also had Dirty Paint Water shots, which we both said tasted like dirty paint water...but in truly the most delicious way! My inner Van Gogh came out tonight. This place is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend wanted to surprise me with a fun date night. He knows that I used to be very into painting but have been in a funk lately. He booked us for a class here at Arte, and it completely blew my mind. The classes are great for people at any level. My boyfriend is awesome at doodles, but never really painted. I have always been into art, but haven't painted in years. We both had no problem following along with the very talented instructor. Our pieces came out very different, and that's honestly the best part! The guided class helped get us into the painting groove so that we will be ready to solo paint next time we come. The drinks here are such a fantastic addition to the night. I had the Starry Night Mojito (tasted the way the painting makes you feel-enlightened) while my boyfriend sipped on a Spotted Cow. Love this place!!! I only wish I would have thought of it myself since I had wine and paint nights in college.... Arte is great for a date night or a girls night out. I've been to both the old location and the new one in Tosa, and they definitely upgraded the space and the booze with the move ;) Arte now offers a full bar and a even a menu of specialty cocktails. Both formal classes and open paints (the freestyle option) are available. I have only partaken in the open paint.There are many different step-by-step instructional samples available or you can opt for freestyle. However, if you want to do the freestyle thing I highly recommend bringing a sample picture of what you plan on doing so they give you the proper colors. It seems like they are a little stingy on how much and what color paints they want to give. I understand it is because they don't want to be wasteful, but at the same time I feel like I've had to really stretch what I've been given. Another minor issue I have with Arte is the service... while the staff is very nice and friendly, I feel like they come around both too much and not enough during your visit. For example, the few times I have been to Arte, I feel like it takes long than normal to order and receive a drink and tell them what you want to paint... then once you start painting they are around a little too often. I know their job is to encourage and offer suggestions but once start painting I just want to do it myself. It became so stressful and bothersome that I had to tell the staff/waitress/artist help that I've taken college-level painting classes... in other words "please let me be!" After that, we were fine and less stressed. Lesson learned here was I just need to be more boisterous. Without a groupon/discount deal it can be a rather $$$ evening if you plan to paint and drink. The classes are a set price, you can view what they offer on the calendar on their website. For open paint, they price per canvas/per design. Specialty drinks are $8ish and glasses of wine range from $6-8, bottles are $25-30ish as I recall. I do wish they offered more promos & deals as I would love to come here more often. read more

We had a great time with our table of 5 for a self directed paint event. Why I wouldn't recommend is you will be required to pay 18% gratitude. I am not opposed to tipping I am opposed to being told I must tip. We did a self directed paint and sip and required and received no help with this self guided tutorial but we were required to pay gratitude. I did point it out to the buisness that the website stated this was only for party's of greater than 6. The response I received was from the owner that their policy is an 18% gratitude for everyone, but I was reimbursed because the website error. Our table of 5 did a self guided painting and did not receive assistance. We ordered drinks and paid an appropriate tip for the part bill as expected for this service. Just a buyer beware...if you plan to make a reservation you will be charged gratitude for services you might not expect. It was fun to be with family in a creative space but there are other local paint and sips that do not require you to pay gratitude for self guided classes. read more

We love Arte! It is a great date night or family outing. We even brought our 18 month old and he painted a canvas before we stamped his painted feet on it. We are a family of 9 and our kids range from 18 months to 17 years; boys and girls. Everyone had a ball! The employees were helpful and patient. There is an abundance of colors and they tell you how to mix them to get the shades you want. There are lots of choices of paintings with instructions or if you are daring, choose to freehand one, or copy one from the wall; possibilities are endless. One complaint is that the brushes are getting old and need to be replaced. The instructions for paintings include which brush to use; wide, medium, or thin, but the thin brushes are no longer crisp and end up leaving thick lines or multiple lines from the spread out brush. Extremely disappointed. We had booked this earlier in the day to take our Mom as a gift. A few hours later my sisters dog had to be taken to the ER. We called (still well before class) to request that our funds be transferred to another night. Originally they thought it would not be an issue given the circumstance, then received a call later stating that they refused to accommodate and said we would be charged in full and attend that night as they had a 48 hour policy. Even though we booked only 8 hrs earlier. We were not requesting a refund, but a transfer to another night. I had never seen such poor customer service. We have been here twice now for the classes (not open painting). Once for aurora borealis and once for a winter scape. Our weekend class was huge, or Tuesday night class was about 1/3 of the size. It is easier to do a weeknight because there is more space around you. When you register, you want to register online and include the names of people you'll want to sit next to. They assign seats, so this is key if you're going with a group! When you arrive, grab a drink at the back bar and take it into the painting classroom. Drinks are between $7-$10 and there are some appetizers available as well. The only downfall is that if you have a full class there won't be much for for snacks and drinks by your table. As for classes, your name will be chalked onto the table under one of the canvasses. You'll have all the supplies required for your painting, but don't hesitate to ask for more paper towels or another paper plate (for mixing). I usually go through a few towels and two plates because you'll mix more or less depending on the effect you want on your painting. They'll give you a smock, but wear semi old clothes and push your sleeves up. It's acrylic paint so it will get stuck on your clothes and you don't want to inadvertently drag your wrist through the paint. Also, our second instructor did not tell us to take the big brush and coat the canvas with water PRIOR to painting, but it helped to put a generous layer of water on the canvas because it didn't look as gritty underneath the paint we applied. I strongly suggest this. As far as for pros, this place is great for groups and we had a lot of fun. We like the instruction and that all supplies are provided. Don't be afraid to use water as it smooths the application of the paint. The gripes we had have been that people on the other side of our table in our first group drank too much and became disruptive. That was frustrating. No problems with drinkers, but they were being loud and bumping the table which made it hard to hear and paint in details. In the second class, the picture they had on display was different than the one we signed up for. So we used our phones to pull up the painting we actually signed up for. Also, people on the other side of the table were bumping the table so we had a hard time painting lines. The instructor also went much faster, but let us stay pretty late to finish painting. That was good. All in all this is great for groups and I recommend going to one of the classes. Check Groupon as I have seen deals on there. read more

Well I had a fun time. Did the couples painting where one person paints one half and the other paints the other half and you put it together at the end. I'm surprised how well these actually turn out considering I have zero art experience. The class went too long, and I think the painting was a little more difficult than they originally planned. And I don't know if it was just because it was Sunday on memorial day weekend, but it seemed like they were missing another staff member that could go around and help people out...which I think would have moved the painting along quicker. Since we were going over the time, the end seemed rushed and there wasn't much time to break and refill my beer. Despite the time dilemma, this was a pretty good time. Great place for a girls night out or a date! My boyfriend surprised me with a couples painting class where one person paints one canvas while their partner paints the other, and then they both come together as one beautiful picture! This definitely takes some coordination, but the instructor was great at simplifying the process. And because this was a class for couples, there were cheesy love songs playing the whole time! This was supposed to be a 2 hour class, but it actually ran over an extra hour. The instructor had to paint both sides of the picture which took some extra time, but I also feel like there was a lot of down time in the beginning stages that could have easily been sped up. And then I felt like she rushed us a bit towards the end when she realized how behind she was. Despite this, she was still a very helpful teacher. This place also has a full bar- beer, wine and a wide array of specialty cocktails. The prices are pretty standard, and the bartender was very attentive. Loved it! Took my work colleagues for some fun...and what's not to be fun with wine/beer and some paint brushes. The instructor was excellent. She kept it simple to follow her step-by-step instructions and she offered lots of encouragement. There were 14 of us and and we were situated right next to the bar :) You don't have to be talented with art. You just need to be open to doing something fun with friends and have something to show when done. Due to Covid, I had to cancel my reservation 2 days before the class- yes 48 hours before... I was told that I could come in for a session another time. However after being ghosted by the employee for a couple of weeks I finally went into arte to try to reschedule. The manager was not friendly- refusing to let me reschedule my class as I didn't cancel on the website. After explaining to her that the employee I cancelled with had never told me to do that, she could've cared less. My family and I do this once a year usually for Mother's Day, but this year we did it for my sister's 21st birthday. It's something fun to do during the day while having some cocktails, not just sitting at the bar! A few times in the past when we've been here, it seems a tad understaffed, in particular this last Saturday there was only one woman running the show. We were there for a total of 3 hours, and each round of drinks took at least 30 minutes to get to us after we ordered them. Understandably so, as she was getting pulled in all different directions for how busy it was. The prices of the canvases are reasonable, same for the drinks.
