We visited on a week day and found that there was a large semi-private event happening. The timing of our arrival seemed to be right when the event started so service was pretty slow for us- they served everyone from the event first (including those who arrived after us). We ordered a wine flight and an order of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were quite good! One of the wines we were served was vinegary and seemingly spoiled so as soon as we mentioned this to our server, they replaced this with a different wine. Our server was very friendly and I think the event was larger than expected so maybe a little understaffed. Overall we didn't have the best experience here, but it might just be the timing of the day we selected. read more

My husband bought the Groupon for his parents Christmas gift. We ended up using it in February and we were so glad we happened upon it. What a great little wine place. We came in the early afternoon on a Saturday and it was empty. That ended up being in our favor because we got a personalized experience. Paul set up our food and wine pairings. He's extremely knowledgeable, as well as sarcastic and fun. We chatted with him and once our pairings were done, we had him suggest different wines for each of us. Paul has a gift for listening and each of the four of us (despite having different tastes) thoroughly enjoyed our suggestions. Owner Paul is beyond rude. I was attending an event for a friends open house at a small business next door, I am not entirely familiar with Waukesha so I parked my car in the parking spaces located out front that said "2 hour parking" and other cars were parked in the spaces next to me. I walked up to her location for the event (next to the wine bar). As I was walking up, I saw this cool wine bar with outdoor seating that I was totally interested in checking out since I love trying new wine! However, about 30 min later- I came outside and discovered that I was parked during an event that I was unaware of (lack of signage maybe?) for this wine bar that was NOT blocked off prior to me parking in the 2 hour parking spot. I came out and realized the city was writing me a ticket and immediately went to go move my car, no problem. As I went to talk to the two city officials and move my car, the owner of the wine bar, Paul, decided to insert himself in the situation (which had nothing to do with him), and yell across the parking lot for me to "move my f***ing car" as I was already handling it with the city officials, and before i could even get in my car to do so... My parking spot had NO bearing on their business what so ever. They just hadn't blocked off the street yet when I first got there. He could clearly see I had the parking ticket in my hand yet stood there on the sidewalk watching me with his hands on his hips like a parent scolding a child. Also- I'd like to add the fact that this owner wanted to make a huge fuss about the small businesses next door (salon) having a small grand opening/open house and tried to make threats and accusations saying it would "take business away from their wine bar" when the business next door offered to collaborate from the start!!! Sounds like a money grab if you ask me. Greedy, RUDE, and I will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. It's a real shame too because I frequent at casual wine venues often, so I can check this one off my list. I'd rather spend money at an establishment with kind, friendly owners and staff. If you're looking for a good wine bar- check out vintage 38 in the greendale village and skip this place. I stopped in on a Saturday night, i enjoy wine and have an enjoyment for wine. With that being said I was shocked at how little of a selection they have. They have a menu with some wines by the glass but no way of looking at what bottles they have with out getting up and looking at the wine on the wall. This place seems very cluttered and lost including the employees/owners. I hate going to places whose cooler or things at the bar are messy. (If they keep areas we see dirty who knows what the areas we don't see look like..) Over all we ordered some beer, wine and even bought a bottle to go. It sucks that they charge you $7 to open the bottle at the place. When we go out to a nice restaurant they never charge a corkage fee unless you bring in your own wine. Just seems odd, maybe they should start charging a bottle opening fee for the beers too? My last point is everyone we saw including us who had asked for a suggestion on what wine to get the employees always said the most expensive glass was the best wine. We enjoy Crush Wine Bar and visit often. They always have a great new selection of wines to try and so it's always fresh! You can get a taste, a glass or a bottle. We often pair that with a cheese platter or a chocolate side platter. The atmosphere is hip and friendly and the patrons are awesome. There is quiet seating if you prefer a little quiet time or you can choose to sit in the open and see what is going on! They also have special nights with music, tastings and other events. We are big winos, so were super excited to try this place! When we arrived, it was busy but we easily found a table. The decor was clean and modern, and attached to a really cute store. From the moment we sat down, we could not seem to get service. A lady working there walked past us a number of times, even serving the table next to us that had come in shortly after we did. Finally, my husband walked up to the bar to ask for service. The lady we had seen walk by came over and provided us with the wine and cheese menus. Really interesting selection and we could have easily stayed for a few glasses to try some wines. Unfortunately, our server never acknowledged us again. I couldn't even make eye contact with her as she walked by. We would not have minded the long wait if we had gotten so much as a passing "I will be with you shortly". I refuse to beg for service, so we left after giving it some time. We will try this place one more time, hopefully the other staff are better and we will get service. Very disappointed. read more

Great employee enthusiasm and decor. We've been to wine bars around the country and were a bit surprised by: 1. Limited selection. There were only two types of cabs and two chards by the glass despite being a wine bar. 2. One glass only. When tasting the two types of wine, they brought only one glass. So we had to slug down the entire sample even if we didn't like it in order to try the second. A bit unprofessional for a wine bar. 3. Price. $13 for a small glass of chard seemed expensive even if we had been in a Milwaukee or Chicago wine bar 4. Small portion food. The $12 meat & cheese tray was so small we had to order a second one. Worth note you can taste any wine for free before getting a glass/bottle. After using a Groupon that we puchased to Crush Wine Bar for two for a Wine Flight and Cheese and Chocolate Pairing, I thought it was only fair to warn others that they should not set their expectations to high. First off, the pairings are tiny individual samples, like 3 cheese cubes, 5 craisinets, and 1 flat cracker with a dab of jelly and sprinkles of goat cheese. We understood it was to be just a sampling, but jeez you get more of a teaser at Sam's Club on a Sunday afternoon. Come on, I think the idea with the Groupon is to lure the consumer into your establishment and hopefully you will introduce them to an experience that will bring them back for future visits and purchases. I truly believe most folks that purchase a groupon for this, will not be revisiting in the future. Crush Wine Bar should save the money they spend on Groupon and improve the experience. A frequent wine bar patron in Milwaukee, I was very excited when Crush opened up in Waukesha, saving me a drive whenever I am in town. It is interesting to read the reviews on portions and selection, because I find both of these to be superb. What would normally be one serving of wine at other wine bars is easily two, making the price point truly affordable. The meat and cheese platters are eclectic and delicious. The wine list itself is incredibly varied, giving you many options to choose from. Sure, they may not have seventeen cabs and chards, but that is because the list is not just focused on these truly overplayed wines (sorry, not sorry) and looks to showcase a variety of wines. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable. For a wine bar, they also have a great beer selection! I highly recommend Crush. read more

My friend and I visited this wine bar while in Waukesha for the art crawl. It was not overly crowded and we loved the décor. The wine list was sufficient and the server was knowledgeable, answering questions and steering us towards wines we would like. We had a glass and promised to be back on our way back to our car. When we came back, they were right on top of serving us and extremely friendly. There was live music which added to the entire experience. We had wine flights and were able to switch a few wines around to get what we really wanted. One of the owners came by and asked if we had switched for a particular merlot. We had not and he said that it was his favorite and made us promise not to leave until he came back around. (He was visiting everyone, making everyone feel like long lost friends.) After we finished our flights, he came back around with a sample of the merlot. He did some pretty awesome tricks with the wine, changing it's bouquet and flavor.
