Ordered a strawberry shortcake for my sister's birthday in September 2023. It ended up being a white rum cake with layers of frosting and a few slices of strawberries. It was not edible. I also questioned the quality of ingredients. I called the owner and talked to him about it and he said he couldn't refund me because the credit card charge already went through but I could come in and he could give me cash back. He also offered to bake me another cake but it was too late and not needed. I don't understand the good reviews.

    Carrot Cake for my birthday

My roommate surprised me with a birthday cake from Arthur's on my birthday and it was seriously the best birthday surprise. I LOVE CARROT CAKE, and this cake was delicious - it's in the fridge now and definitely a special treat thing bc the frosting is A LOT (the cake is def like 70% frosting , 30% cake kind of), it's very sweet but a bit on never hurt nobody. Their carrot cake is seriously delicious though, their cakes are also BIG.

Best pastry hands down best cakes cookies and cannolis also have apple blueberry and lemon pies

    Bismark and upside down cassata
    Diana K.

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon as we were driving by and the young lady behind the counter could not be friendlier or more helpful. A friend and I decided to try the bismark, upside down cassata, the puff pastry filled with whipped cream and apple and some Italian cookies...not all in one sitting. Bismark pastry tasted stale, cream a little sweeter than we preferred. Cassata also tasted a bit stale and was very sweet even without the cream on top which we both scraped off because it was way too sweet, alone, much less eating it with the cassata. The cream in the bismark was different from the cream on top of the cassata (which seemed more like a butter cream vs whipped cream). Haven't tried the apple puff pastry yet, saving it for tomorrow but anticipate it also being quite sweet. Took a bite of a pistachio macaroon and it was also very sweet. 5 for friendliness and service 3 for pastries (per our tastes)

So I'm going to start this off saying I love Arthur's. What I got today is embarrassing and downright gross. I left work today with the dream of eating a tiramisu and cannoli after dinner. I ate my tasty dinner of stuffing and turkey left over from christmas. Once I was done I brought out my dessert to eat. I started eating the tiramisu and noticed something tasted weird. I examined the dessert and noticed there was mold on the bottom! And to think I probably ate some of it made me sick! This is the first time this has happened (that I know of) here and I now will bring my buisness to Modern pastry or Mike's! Very upsetting!

Amazing chocolate mousse cake! Light and airy, not too sweet. Also great service. The cookies in the shop looked really nice.

Now they have canceled that option ...no phone calls accepted/returned new policy! I made 5-6 efforts yesterday to place an order and the computer program just will not accept the information and keeps stating that I need "To follow the format,..." which I thought I was doing. I wrote to their website/email and no response. I would just forget Fastachi totally at this point, never attempt to order again, however I had discussed some options with a client who chose to receive treats from them. I don't understand why I cannot simply order online and have it go through. It has never been a possibility for me over perhaps five years trying yo order online. Never had such a problem with other vendors! They even identify on the website the l item I want, which is a variety of chocolate bark as requested by my client. But, when I double click on it, I get all the chocolate treats and I cannot find the bark. I'm very very disappointed and not sure how I will handle this. Such inconvenience and lack of customer support. They apparently have expanded their services to other stores and have what looks like a large corporate clientele. I cannot understand why they no longer accept phone calls when their system to place orders just does not work! I would love help with this particularly for this one situation and then I wouldn't bother them again and not purchase their wonderful treats as gifts. To me this seems like a very poor resolution of a problem that should not exist in 2025 with current communication possibilities via computers. I'm very upset and disappointed. Marcia Tritter

They had a thin string on the back to mimic a tail, which also helps keep your hands clean--a fun and thoughtful design. The cocoa and milk flavors were pure and rich, with a smooth and silky texture. I personally didn't find it too sweet. My friends who tasted it also raved about it. Pavé Glacé: The best of the bunch. Made in the same way as nama chocolate生チョコ--frozen chocolate ganache, but this one had a fine layer of cocoa powder, making it denser and more solid. It melted in mouth and starts to linger, with a more distinct flavor profile from bitter to sweet to fragrant. Sesame Truffe: Two pieces in one serving was perfect. A thin layer of light cocoa powder on the surface, the shell was so crisp that it crumbled in mouth, and the flowing filling with nutty and caramel flavors immediately spills out. However, I didn't taste much sesame; it's closer to hazelnut, the classic chocolate flavor, and a bit on the sweeter side.

They feature lots of Swiss treats and there's something everyone would like. I ordered a milk chocolate hot chocolate and my friend got a dark chocolate. The drinks are rich and super smooth. I always need a little water which luckily they have a pitcher with little cups. We then split two treats, the Engadiner Nusstorte and Cherry Tart. Both were delicious, and they complimented the drinks nicely, especially the Cherry adding that contrasting tartness to a sweet beverage. The gentleman working was also nice he cut the treats in half for us to split. I was shocked how busy it was, at most points there wasn't a free table inside, as people come here to chat and enjoy. It was the perfect place to meet a friend and I'd come back for sure.

I got inspired by watching youtube to make a jambon buerre sandwich - supposedly a popular quick sandwich for Parisians. The sandwich is half a baguette with butter and French bistro ham. I tried searching all over for the French bistro ham with no luck. The only options were online sources with expensive shipping and/or expensive minimum order sizes. Somehow I stumbled upon MA-France nearby in Arlington and they sell jambon-buerre sandwiches. It's a small shop that sells sandwiches, pastries, and a small offering of French food products. Lots of pastries and baked goods like quiche, tarts, cookies, croissants, etc. The cheese offerings were very limited and basic. I can imagine that the cheeses that they sell are the same types and brands that they use for making sandwiches. For example, they sell President brand Brie - that you can also buy at Costco and market basket. Disappointing, but understandable because they can't afford to buy more variety and more expensive offerings without a big enough client base to buy those cheeses before they go bad. Getting back to the sandwich - it was half a baguette with some thick slices of butter and two pieces of French bistro ham. The bread was kind of dense and the crust was more chewy than crispy. I was disappointed that they didn't bother to spread the butter, but if they're not selling enough sandwiches then they're probably keeping the butter in the refrigerator - making it too difficult to spread. When I got home I fixed up the sandwich to my liking. Overall, the sandwich was okay, but not good enough to make me want to go back. At least I was able to solve my hunger for the jambon buerre sandwich.

Now it's quite underwhelming. The apricot croissant is now some smaller glorified danish that has no richness or personality. The plain croissant is quite "bready" now, whereas it used to be light and buttery. I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a different croissant supplier now. What saved this spot from a lower grade is that the pain au raisin and chausson aux pommes are passable. Also a save is that they still offer various French products, from soaps to cheeses to canned goods. I have to find a new French bakery in the area.
