Yes! France in the house! It's such a treat to stop by for some yummy sandwiches and more! This nice small market/ restaurant offers many products from France. We really enjoy their sandwiches and gallettes! They always have yummy looking pastries and treats that makes you want to try all of them! I love walking around their market because they have such a great selection of items. They also serve coffee and you can either dine in or order to go! The workers are very nice and give good recommendations on what to order from their menu!

    Ham and cheese on croissant!

One of the better plain croissants I've tried in Boston. I think I still prefer Colette's. Whereas Colette's iteration is airier and more flaky, MA-France's is denser, more butter-forward, and more chewy. You can't go wrong with the two but if you're closer to one than the other, MA-France has a worthy croissant. I finished my plain one and promptly asked my husband to grab another, whereupon he returned with both the almond and the nutella. I preferred the almond over the nutella, but really the plain croissant was the best. Also tried a bite of the ham and cheese croissant with pickles - it was a bit hard to eat with the giant chunks of ham but made for a filling and tasty post-ride snack. The guy (Kevin?) making our sandwiches was very sweet and, even though we came right before closing, took a lot of care in assembling the sandwiches. The extremely surly lady who rang me up was the one dampener of an otherwise pleasant experience, she was not friendly in the least and acted like she was doing me a favor. There's a small market on the other side, as well as three two-person tables outside and a bench. No bathroom that I could see.

This was our first time trying MA-France and had such a great experience! The woman that helped us gave us a full rundown of all the products that they made there and told us what food was imported from France. We ordered 2 Galettes (one was a classic French one with ham/cheese and runny egg. And the other was tomato, spinach, brie, and runny egg). So delicious! Highly recommend and the runny egg made the dish. Also got 2 macaroons to go, the raspberry heart shaped one was very yummy! All the pastries looked great so can't wait to come back! Great food, AMAZING service, outdoor seating, and right off the bike path. Thank you!

I have been on the hunt for good croissants and was excited to visit this establishment but came away disappointed. I purchased an almond, a chocolate almond and a chocolate croissant. Each was flaky, but lacked flavor. While both almond croissants had an abundance of slivered almonds, there was not enough almond paste in either. The chocolate croissant hardly had any chocolate in it. They all looked better then they tasted.

I feel transported to France anytime I step into this little shop for their exquisite pastries. When you bite into their flaky almond croissaint you can see the ground almonds in the filling as your palate sings happy songs. Can also recommend the madeleine's that come in an assortment of flavors. The savory galette was created with much care and delicious. They also offer a variety of snacks, sauces, etc. imported from France. Popular spot with the locals, so there usually is a line that moves pretty quick.

We found this place on Yelp since we were in the area. However we've been to this area before and didn't know about this place since the front of the shop looks like any other shop other than a giant French flag. But boy are we glad found this place! They had a variety of French savory and sweet bread pastries. We bought the torsade chocolat, plain croissant, chocolate croissant and chocolate beigne. Torsade chocolat-just like the one in France, has a custard and chocolate filling Plain butter croissant: generous size, buttery, soft on the inside but flaky on the outside just like the ones in France! (We had it the next day and reheated it in the oven and it still tasted great!) Chocolate almond croissant: generous amount of almond and chocolate filling throughout the croissant. I've tried quite a few places in Massachusetts and many places literally just give a small amount of filling in the center. I'd say this is the best one I've tried so far in Massachusetts. Chocolate beigne: They had three different options (berry, caramel and chocolate?). I only bought the chocolate one to try and the dough was very soft. I would have liked more chocolate filling but it was still good. It is pretty authentic in terms of typical pastries offered and the quality. I also recognized a variety of French products for sale whether it was food or toiletry. The prices are not too expensive either. I've been to places where they charge $4-6 just for a mediocre croissant. Most things we bought were around $3.5-4/5.

THRILLED to walk into a bakery where the employees speak French -- it's rarer and rarer and having the opportunity to have a casual chat and order and sample their goods was so cozy and nostalgic. And their selection is no joke -- deep cuts from the motherland. Oasis!!! And so much more!! Savory madeleines were a first for me and the crumb was sublime. An acidic and perfectly moelleux éclair with green apple and cinnamon. And an outstanding, perfectly chewy canele. I wish we had a remotely similar bakery in Central MA, but I'm glad they are here. Between MA France, Colette, and PB Boulangerie, we are doing so well up here.

If you closed your eyes and let the sounds and smells guide you as you enter this deceptively local bakery you'd think you'd somehow been transferred to France. Plan to be greeted with a boisterous "bonjour" and let the fresh breads and pastries fill your palate with so many possibilities. The baguettes ( dough comes from France) are available in plain and whole wheat. The croissants are flaky and buttery, and try the mini muffins in chocolate and / or berry. Whatever your yummy passion might be you're sure to be satisfied at Ma-France. Enjoy!

French feels in MA! We stopped in for lunch on a warm Friday afternoon, and it wasn't busy at all. For pastries, we got the chocolate almond croissant and the chocolatine. For cheeses, we bought a comte and a mimolette. And for lunch, we got a buckwheat galette filled with bayonne ham and emmental cheese. Oh and a baguette (because obvi). Everything we had was tres magnifique! I can't stop thinking about the incredible almond chocolate croissant - the stuff of dreams! Such a cool find where you'll be feeling French & fine in no time.

We looked online for local restaurants to dine at during our stay. Neither my girlfriend or I have ever gone to a French restaurant, so we decided on The Metro Bistrot, due to all the fantastic reviews. I called and spoke with Jay (chef and owner) a week prior to make the reservation. We took an Uber from the hotel, as it's BYOB and brought a couple of bottles of wine. This was a Saturday before a big snow storm the following day. I think due to this, the restaurant wasn't as busy as usual. We ended up being seated in the back room all to ourselves. It was a very nice room that had about 4 tables. Stephanie, our server was an absolute delight! Turns out she works for the hotel as well and she's the one I spoke with when we booked the room. She opened our Beaujolais for us and brought some wine glasses. She kept the bottle chilled in the fridge for us. She went over some of the specials being prepared that night and was able to make some nice recommendations. My girlfriend ended up with the special seafood soup special with a lobster stock as a base. I ordered the escargot. Both were absolutely fantastic. She kept our bread basket filled with wonderful fresh warm bread to soak up all the goodness of the soup and escargot. My girlfriend ordered the boar shank and I ordered the stuffed quail that was stuffed with foie gras and pate. The boar meat fell right of the bone and was some of the most tender meat we've ever had. Both dishes were phenomenal. Jay stopped by our table to chat. He's super nice and even took some photos with us. We ordered 3 different kinds of cheeses prior to ordering dessert. All three we ordered were great! Stephanie also brought us a bowl of crackers to go with the cheese. For dessert, my girl had the cheesecake with an oatmeal crust and fresh berries. I'm not usually one for sweets, unless it Crème Brûlée, so I opted for the Boursin stuffed Shrimp, forgetting it wasn't an appetizer, but a main entree. It was out of this world! All the fish Jay brings in are always fresh and NEVER frozen. He even poured me a small glass of some white wine and it went so well with the shrimp. We cannot wait to go back. The prices are very reasonable and the service and food is second to none. Cheers!

One chef and one server. It is byob and the menu isn't extensive. But it is mostly local and classic French. It is accessible and not pretentious. A place where the passion for French cooking is designed for locals. The food is interesting and has a casual vibe. Like a small village in France where farmers and artisans come. The space is gorgeous, the vibe is elevated without being stuffy, and on most nights the service really shines. It's the kind of place you want to love. But our Easter brunch left me feeling more "hmm" than "wow." We opted for the 7‑course holiday tasting, which sounded festive and ambitious, but the execution didn't quite match the promise. Courses arrived beautifully plated, but several felt more conceptual than flavorful, and the pacing never fully found its rhythm. For the price point and the occasion, I was hoping for a bit more sparkle -- something that made the meal feel truly celebratory, as well as plentiful. The kids' options were another miss. While I appreciate that Anya aims for an elevated dining experience, the selections didn't feel particularly kid‑friendly. When you're trying to keep little ones happy through a long, multi‑course brunch, having approachable, familiar choices goes a long way. Here, the offerings felt more like scaled‑down adult dishes than something designed with kids in mind. That said, the staff was warm, the atmosphere was lovely, and there were moments where the meal hinted at what Anya does best. There's clearly talent in the kitchen and pride in the presentation -- it just didn't fully land this time. Overall, a beautiful spot with potential for a standout holiday experience, but our Easter brunch fell somewhere in the middle. Cheers

There were very few redeeming aspects to the meal, and we left feeling both disrespected and unsatisfied as customers. The issues started right away. We ordered drinks--including a pear mocktail--but were brought the wrong ones, and then they attempted to charge us for those incorrect drinks. In hindsight, the cocktail mix-up should have been a warning of what was to come. The pear mocktail itself was also quite bad. The service felt chaotic throughout the night. We asked multiple times for additional servings of steak and fries, but were largely ignored. Meanwhile, nearby large tables were repeatedly served, cleared out entire trays, and still received more attention from staff. For an all-you-can-eat steak frites offering, we each received only one serving despite several requests. As for the food itself, it did not make up for the service. The steak was just okay--some pieces were chewy and overly fatty, though acceptable if refills had actually been provided. The fries, however, were terrible. Our first serving was so hard it was nearly inedible, and the only refill we received was just as bad. I also ordered the spinach risotto, which was slightly better than the steak, but it was so salty I couldn't finish it. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.
