I am a regular at Artisan and will certainly continue to be. While I agree that the pastries are a bit overpriced, they are fresh and tasty. The selection is outstanding although it seems as though they have taken to making certain items only on certain days...but I can't fault that. In late May, I ordered a custom cake for my Daughter's baby shower in June. I brought in a picture on my phone and described what I wanted. This baker matched the cake exactly to my specifications! It was beautiful, my daughter LOVED it, and it was delicious! They also make a lemin drop cupcake to DIE FOR!!! Love this business. I find it ironic that a business called " artisan bakery cafe" serves premade eggs from...wait for it...McDONALDS!!! Yes it's true; they admitted to this when inquired about the strange texture of the eggs on our breakfast croissants. Makes me question their baked goods, that's for sure. read more

First off, I like a good bakery. Fresh bread and goodies are my weakness and this place, so far has tasty goods. I'd give this place 4 stars if not for a couple things. My biggest critique is price. There are some amazingly steep prices here, especially for the cooked food. Second and more of a personal gripe is being overcharged. Chatting with my daughter I didn't realize the $18.80 bill for 4 pastries in the $2-3 range until after I was home. I gave an opportunity for to redeem themselves, perhaps a token of apology. "Sorry. This was a great place to call when Mothers Day came and I wanted to send mom, who lives in Medford while I reside in Portland, a coffee and pastry surprise instead of flowers and candy, the old standard that was getting boring. I had a berry scone fresh and moist, My husband got a chocolate croissant. They do have a good selection but I felt it was somewhat expensive for each item . If I am near the shop I might stop in. I just went there on a busy Friday around 10am and got served the best mocha I have ever had and now I go every week and I have never once been disappointed. There pastries are to die for you can't go wrong with anything made there. It's all made by scratch. I highly recommend going when the guy with tattoos is working he makes the best best coffee. The atmosphere is super amazing too you never feel pressured to leave if you just want to sit and relax or you are working on anything. One of the best coffee shops ever in Medford! read more

Came through town one day and decided to give this place a shot and it was just sad sad sad. When asking the girl behind the counter about the fillings used in the pastries, we were told "I think it just comes in a big bucket and the bear claws are old doughnuts ground up".. It's not artisan if everything comes out of a bucket. Everything just tasted fake and stale. When we asked when the cupcakes were made the girl just shrugged and said I don't know. She was rude and unhelpful. Then the overwhelming blonde lady shoving menus in our faces when all we wanted was coffee and a pastry was just too much. Also a quite pricey for the quality of product being served. The whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths, won't be returning. read more

My wife and I have been to this place several times but tonight's visit was our last. While the food is ok - a bit pricey - the owner (gal with the dark hair) is NOT nice. We arrived at 5:45 p.m. (they close at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday) and were immediately treated like we were a bother. She (dark-haired gal) made it VERY obvious that our presence was annoying, even walking up to the girl at the register while we were ordering to say, "if they decide to order something, come get me...". We each ordered 1/2 pannini and soup and were politely asked if our order was for eating in or for taking home. Immediately the dark-haired one stated in a very unfriendly tone, "they can't eat here - we're closing!" and walked to the back. We apologized and waited. After several minutes, making it VERY obvious that we were in the way, the dark-haired one decided to go outside and drag in the chairs from outside - presumably so we couldn't hang around. The counter girl, who was trying to be polite, stated that it would be a few more minutes because the pannini grill had been turned off and needed to warm back up. (note: we walked in 15 minutes BEFORE their stated closing time.) Several times we were made to feel like we had to apologize for "interrupting" and for actually ordering from their establishment. We ended up walking out at 6:00 p.m. and will not be back. You'd think they'd try harder - especially since there is a Subway on their left and a new Pizza Hut on their right. Unless you like spending your money in a place where they think it's ok to treat their customers like an inconvenience, stay away. read more

We had family visiting from out of town so we took them to Artisan's for breakfast. I hadn't tried it yet and HOLY COW, this place is delicious! Nice selection of foods, baked goods to satisfy your sweet tooth. They had a daily special not on the regular menu, I sure hope they add that to the menu. Fantastic is what it was! This place has it all! From deli sandwiches to smoothies to cakes, it's a perfect place for lunch and dessert. I had a turkey sandwich there and it was good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it wasn't bad. I originally just wanted to eat lunch there, but once I saw everyone else order dessert, I got jealous and wanted some too. The pastry cases are full of different treats that looked very tasty. I had the German chocolate cupcake and it was probably the best one I've had. It was moist and dense. Oftentimes, cupcakes seem so dry at bakeries, but they're able to keep theirs moist. I'll for sure be back for the baked goods. It's clean and the people who work there were friendly and helpful. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me was that the turkey sandwich wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. All in all, I wonderful experience. read more

Been looking forward to trying this place, unfortunately I am highly disappointed. First as I look at the treasures in the case I find the at a high price. Secondly, while I was looking an elderly gentleman was ordering. The assistant asked for here or togo. He replied for here. She responded that she will close in fifteen minutes and asked him if he would be done by then. I was astonished that she would be like that to a customer and further to an old man. I almost walked out. It just wasn't kind. I ordered a dry bear claw and a minuscule soggy eclair. I wasn't even asked for here or to go, the question was is this to go. As I paid I responded that I wouldn't dare stay and eat there since she gave such a nice warning to the elderly man. She responded that she just didn't want to lock the door on him. I said or stay any later than need be sarcastically. Her poor attitude left quite a bad taste in mouth as well as these stupid treats. Where's the human kindness? read more
