Artisan Wine & Spirits Mountain View CA Wed 4/12/23 © Had $1.5K Bourbon Hand-Delivered locally to my home! A Gift from my overseas IT DevOps friend! Thank you Paul! My IT guy who lives in Europe has surprised me with home hand delivery! And thank you to Artisan Wine & Spirits, what a unique store right here in my hood! Service, world class! It's a rare thought-after tiny-batch boutique Bourbon, only 2 bottles in stock! I patronized this gem of a store for rare finds in beer & wines for a decade, at least! It used to be called Artisan Wine Depot. This is the place I know I can always count on when looking for wine for any occasion - whether to gift, to bring to a party, or to get for yourself! There's very extensive selection of wonderful wines you can explore. The pricing is reasonable (not inflated just because of the use of the word Artisan), and the service is out of this world, friendly and helpful! There are great finds to be had here! So much better than your run of the mill BevMo stuff:) There's a lot of controversy in the whiskey market, it's very strange right now, but the overall fact is, a lot of these whiskeys are taking a long time to make & that creates extra scarcity... prices are through the roof! Procuring a good bourbon is an undertaking, because of the popularity & demand that grew exponentially during the pandemic. Real completion for these bottles on the market! I'm going to enjoy this W.L.Weller Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey immensely! Cheers y'all! *Well, he's drinking down the bourbon like it was soda pop, Trying to quell a feeling he knows ain't gonna stop, He's mortgaged out his blood for one more chance to breathe [ update Review #765 w 1 pix on May 2, 2023 ] W.L.Weller Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey! $1.5K Hand-Delivered locally from my overseas DevOps! Artisan is a gold mine for amazing wines at equally amazing prices! I also find the staff to be very knowledgeable, helpful and passionate about their jobs (the perfect combo). I highly recommend attending one of their weekly tastings if you're looking to learn more about wine or just simply try a variety of incredible wines. Recently, I brought a bottle of Vintage Moet 2006 to a fancy dinner in NYC. I bought it at Artisan for just $70. It was on the restaurant's wine list for $350 and it would probably have been worth close to every penny at that price given how good it tasted. When trying to find some more of this wine, I realized most other retailers were charging at least $110+. This is just one example of the deals that can be found at Artisan!

Savvy was an interesting choice for a cozy girls night in downtown!…read more What it "lacks" in the interior it definitely makes up for with the knowledge of its service staff. The interior is more dimly-lit, with large TVs and some comfy couches. This is an official spot to watch 49ers games so if you're a sports fan definitely note this one down. I liked that the service was helpful but not overbearing. Our waiter was able to recommend two different red wines for my friend and I really enjoyed the vinho verde I had. We ordered the charcuterie board to share between the two of us. This was a GREAT portion and came with a huge basket of sliced French bread. Perfect size to snack and graze on during the night. The bill came out to $53/pp incl. tax+tip for: 3 drinks total + 1 charcuterie board. It was definitely pricey in my opinion but I did really like my wine selection. Overall, great spot to hangout without a rushed vibe. Friendly service and easy eats.

I ordered the savvy spritz wine cooler and my friend ordered the cherry lavender rose. I loved that the spritz wasn't too artificial tasting since a lot of places tend to be. I wish it would've been a little stronger but I get that it's more of a fun cocktail wine that's meant to be light. The food here was insane. We ordered the Margherita flatbread and while it's simple the quality was great and the cheese was super good and had a nice pull. The vibe here is great it feels very safe having mostly had women patrons. The music was nice and definitely gave it a special vibe that you don't get just anywhere, there was a lot of Prince going on and Stevie Nicks ( I love). I'll definitely be back soon! Also the owner was super friendly and seemed like he was happy to be there.

They had a decent selection I'd say compared to what you can get at Total Wine. The inside was categorized very easily, which made it easy to browse. They had wine and spirits and some beer as well. I'd definitely return to get some more unique wine that you wouldn't be able to get at larger-scale chains/stores. I assume the staff there can also help you if you aren't sure what you're looking for, but I did not ask for any help during my visit.

The selection is unmatched: thoughtfully curated bottles from every major region, plus plenty of small producers you won't stumble upon anywhere else. Whether you're hunting for a weeknight Pinot, a Champagne to impress, or a hard-to-find Bordeaux, they've got it -- and usually at a better price than expected. The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable without being pretentious. They actually listen to what you like and guide you to something that fits your palate and budget. I've learned more from two minutes at their counter than from hours of online "best wine" lists. No gimmicks, no distractions -- just wine, and the people who truly know it. Still the best selection in the Bay Area, and easily a 5-star experience every time.

After striking out at a new place yesterday and…read moremissing out on a Stagg Jr. at a regular place the day before, and finding myself in PA on other business, with some time to spare before going home, I hit the Yelps for a bottle shop. Palo Alto Fine Wine & Spirits on Middlefield popped up, well reviewed. I like that part of town, so I off I went. Arriving at the location the curb appeal was PA all day. Walking through the front door it was apparent that they are at the top of their game. Strolling toward a floor-to-ceiling wall of whiskey I had high hopes. Oh, to put that in perspective, their ceilings are probably 24-ish feet high. So would we need a ladder, a clever picking device or some Cirque du Soleil types, to retrieve a top-shelf selection on this particular day? Nope. It was a lot of whiskey, some if it was fine, I even like a lot of it, but for what it was it was mostly unremarkable. Scanning the rest of the store, wine seems to be their thing. I didn't shop for any, but I have a hunch there are many good ones to be had. Lately I have had a policy of buying something from every shop I set foot in. We need to take care of one another right now, all the time really, but I wasn't just going to cram a bottle of something into my last spot. So I went to Plan-B. Any good beer? Oh yes indeed. While their selection looked sparse, seriously their chillers were mostly empty shelves, there was some great stuff available. I wouldn't call myself a beer expert. I'm kind of all over the place and up for anything, but I do like stouts and sours. I ended up with two of each. They were all local-ish selections. Two from Alvarado Street in Salinas, one from Sac and another from San Carlos. Buy local when you can. Your neighbors need you more than Bezos right now. As I write this review I am sipping on Motor Oil No. 9 from Alvarado Street Brewery in Salinas, CA. It's my first time trying it, I wasn't sure if it would work out or not, but the idea of a stout with something fruity added was intriguing. So how would I describe it? It's like somebody dumped some of their Pineapple Jarritos into a pint of Guinness, then put some heavy cream in there. In other words, awesome. Don't knock it 'till you try it. If I find it again I'll buy it. Palo Alto Fine Wine & Spirits has a lot to offer.

Long review incoming…read more.. I've only been shopping here for about a month, but overall the experience has been excellent. One thing that was initially a little confusing is the name. The physical store operates under one name, but online they're known as Unwind Bottle Shop, where you can purchase bottles online and pick them up in-store. Once you understand the connection, it's easy -- just something to be aware of as a first-time customer. From what I understand, the store has been under new ownership for the past two or three years. After reading some older negative reviews, I'd encourage people to give it another shot. Based on my experience, it feels like things have changed and improved under the current ownership. Their VIP program is what really sets them apart. It's free to join and operates on a points system -- you purchase bottles, earn points, and unlock additional benefits as you move up tiers. The big draw is that VIP members get opportunities to purchase highly allocated bottles at MSRP. That's rare, and all shops handle their allocations their own way. Yes, it's chance-based -- you're not going to walk in and just find unicorn bottles sitting on the shelf at a decent price or slightly marked up. But that's also what makes it fair. They give customers an actual shot instead of marking everything up to secondary pricing and waiting for someone to overpay. It feels like a thoughtful compromise that supports the whiskey community rather than exploits it. The owner (family-owned operation) seems genuinely passionate about whiskey. From my conversations with him, he clearly cares about the products he brings in and about serving enthusiasts. They're able to source rare and unique bottles at MSRP or just slightly above -- which is very reasonable considering how hard these bottles are to find elsewhere. They also run their own barrel program with store picks and seem very in tune with the grain-to-glass movement and rising craft distilleries. You'll find interesting, up-and-coming producers here -- not just the standard Jack Daniel's, Buffalo Trace, or Wild Turkey lineup you can get anywhere. My only real negatives: - The shop name vs. online branding can be confusing at first. - Some of the employees behind the counter didn't seem particularly engaged. On one visit, I was next in line for a pickup and was asked to step aside while they helped several other walk-in customers. It wasn't a huge issue, but as a new customer, it didn't feel like great service. - The parking lot is very tight, and on certain nights (possibly food truck or event nights next door), it can get pretty crowded. That said, those are relatively minor compared to the overall experience. If you're serious about whiskey -- especially rare bottles, store picks, and craft distilleries -- this is a very interesting and worthwhile shop to support. I definitely recommend checking them out.

Having explored different shops, I found this place on Instagram (Unwind Bottle Shop) and decided to check out the place. On first visit, it was a little tricky to find because they don't have a sign outside that says "Unwind Bottle Shop", just a generic food and liquor store sign. That was one negative... But despite that, I found the place, went inside and was surprised at the great selection they stocked. They carried some pretty sought after bottles which was impressive! This quickly became my go-to spot for reasonably priced whiskey as I work to expand my collection. One of the things I really like about this place is their frequent free tastings. It's a great way to explore different brands and find what I like without having to buy a whole bottle. This alone was how I learned more about what flavors I like and don't like in whiskey and burboun. In a recent tasting, they had Buffalo Trace products. I picked up a bottle of White Dog because it was a very unique flavor. I also picked up a bottle of Sagamore Rye Store pick based on a recommendation from the lady that worked there. I admit it was a blind buy, but wow I'm glad I grabbed a bottle because it was delicious! I liked it so much that I decided to sign up for their whiskey club so I can find other unique picks. Overall, I rate this place a 8.5 out of 10. The 1.5 loss is due to the challenge of finding the place on the first visit. Also, the parking situation is difficult due to the small parking lot.
