Great Bike Repair
Tristan A.

Came in with a flat and left with a bunch of knowledge on my bike. Learned how to take the tube out with a tire lever, and how to put it back on my tire. Cody and Georgia super helped me out!!! I use my bike to commute to and from work and it was great to see them take the time to show me some basics. Great vibes all around!!

Customer Service--the definition of great customer service is Foothill Cyclery! My journey with…read morethem started over 10 years ago when I was looking for a place to service my Rad Rover e-bike. I first took it to CBO (it was downhill from my house) but they stuck their noses up in the air--they were not going to work on a silly ebike! I rode over to Foothill, and talked with the staff there about what I wanted to do, and they were happy to help me. About $1000 later my Rad was super Rad, and Foothill had a customer for life. Since then I have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars there--purchased 4 bikes (so far) from them and a whole slew of accessories--all because Josh and the staff were willing to talk to an e-bike kook. No matter how crazy an idea I have for my bikes, the gang there will listen, weigh out the pros and cons of my decision (many times saving me from myself), and then execute! So if you are looking for a new bike, or need your old bike serviced, look no further than Foothill Cyclery!

Josh and the team at Foothill Cyclery went above and beyond to help us out--they wouldn't let us leave until the problem was fully solved, even though they didn't have the exact part on hand. As someone just…read moregetting into cycling, I had no idea how to maintain my own, but the guys at the shop have been so helpful in teaching me. The first time I came in just to change my pedals- after using every tool at their disposal, they couldn't get the old one off, but they pointed me toward a great used part at a very fair price and helped me install it. They also walked me through checking my bolts and lubricating everything that needed it. My most recent visit was for a tune-up after a rear tire replacement and a few months of riding -- my shifting was a mess, and it turned out there were several things contributing to it. The team was thorough, knowledgeable and it's clear they genuinely love helping people learn to work on their own bikes. Highly recommend!

My girlfriend did NOT want me getting back on a bike, but I insisted Walley had the perfect answer for my safety concerns. He recommended I get Electric Recumbent Trike, Cattrike, that would afford me the opportunity to get around town with equal effort. The harder you ride, the more the engine kicks in to get you up to speed. What I find most fascinating about my E-Trike is how much more often I'd hop on it versus grabbing my car keys. My goal whenever I ride is "To Be Seen." I have flashing lights and a bluetooth speaker that announces my presence whenever I'm out on all our fabulous trails in SLO county. Whether you're someone who wants to competitively ride or someone like myself that enjoys simply being out in the sunshine, Walley, with his experience and inventory can get you well on your way. When I first purchased my Cattrike 559 Walley helped my a ton on the price, not only was it affordable for my budget, but he let me make the last payment after a week of riding. I was blown away he first trusts someone and affords them the opportunity to show the goodness in the bike riding community. Walley has hosted, sponsored, and contributed to special event fundraisers and downtown events by donating goods and services. Whenever there's a parade or special function downtown, you'll see Walley and his kiosk of bikes there to help and volunteer. Walley's Bicycle Works includes these services: Bike/E-Bike/Trike and helmet Rentals Help plan and coordinate your ride Bikes at all levels/budget for sale Purchase Equipment, parts and clothing Sponsors Events help you organize your event Hosts kids ride a long parties for parents Full service repair shop for all your needs You can inquire about buy-backs and trade-ins on bikes Save yourself the headache of trying to order the right bike to meet your needs and let Wally's Bicycle Works show you the options available in the bike world. Wally prides himself on a hands-on approach to bicycle sales that promises you that the bike you choose is truly something that will keep you on the road for years. I often stop by his shop just to talk about life and share stories about the things going on around town. Wally is at the shop Monday through Saturday 11am-5pm with his brother there to help get you on your way! Overall Grade: A+

Not only did it take a whole week for me to collect my bicycle, but it came back very dirty and obviously had not been well maintained at all. To make things worse, the bill came out to around $200. When I asked why it was so high, they told me they had added a bunch of extra work but none of it was clearly explained or approved beforehand. Apparently they charged me for things like cable adjustments, brake tuning, and a "general tune-up," none of which I asked for. There was even a cleaning/service fee, which makes no sense because the bike was still dirty when I got it back. At no point did anyone call or check in to ask if I wanted these services done. It felt like they just piled on extra charges to pad the bill. As a matter of fact, I have been here several times before, so I expected better customer service, but unfortunately that's not the case. The lack of communication, transparency, and attention to detail on your part is astonishing, and I feel like I have been misled rather than assisted. All in all, considering the lengthy waiting time, the state of my bicycle upon returning it to me, as well as suspicious charges, it would be hard for me to recommend this place.

She said, "If one of us dies, I'll be so mad at you!" She really did say that. We waltzed into the bike shop, in the group of shops right off Front Street. Easy peasy. The gentleman running the place was super nice and answered all of our questions and gave us some options to choose. We looked around and picked a couple of bikes that looked like standard, step through beach cruisers. I skipped the helmets, just to mess with The Wife. The nice dude went through the operating such as throttle, brakes, kick stand, turning on/off, etc... We were ready to cruise the open highways, wind blowing through our hair as we sped helmet-less, laughing and yelling at people. We really didn't yell at people, or go on the highway, or speed. We did laugh and have a great time while not going more than 10mph! Ha! We were both a bit shakey to start, as we had not ridden any type of bicycle in some time. It was just like a pedal bike and in fact we peddled quite a bit and used the throttle for some of the small hills just to make it easier. We had a great time and when we returned the bikes, yet another nice dude met us and checked in the bikes. We hung out and chatted for a bit before venturing off to find some cocktails to sip by the beach. Oh, and on the way home The Wife said that she had a great time on the e-bike and maybe we should look into getting some. Huh? OK... Go! Ride Wild!! HAVE FUN!!!
