I went in a few times in the past and had a great experience but recently not so much. The great thing about going in was that staff always helped figure out a good shoe option/s as experts. Recently I went in looking for a shoe, no one approached me to help, the effort was minimal and there was a suggestion to purchase it online on their site. The thing is, if I wanted to purchase online I wouldn't have bothered driving 30miles watch way to get to the warehouse. The other thing is, that they did have a newer version of the shoe and a different employee had to step in to put two and two together to pull a pair out of the back. Quality of service has definitely declined, pretty disappointing. I of course ended up purchasing shoes online from the actual manufacturer instead. read more

If you are planning on incorporating running into your routine or consider yourself a runner, Running Warehouse should already be on your radar. The staff here is super knowledgeable and their shoes are specifically made for running. The selection and knowledge compared to big athletic stores like Big 5 and Dicks isn't even close. Do your feet a favor and come here instead! When you first walk into the store, an associate will greet you and ask what you are looking for. From there they will ask you to walk/job in a line so they can see how you step. From there they will make a few recommendations to try on. They even have a treadmill so you can go on a test run before making a decision. The best part about Running Warehouse is that you can feel 100% confident with your purchase. They have an AMAZING return/exchange policy. I one time purchased a shoe that felt amazing in the store, but discovered that after 3-4 runs, were causing pain and blisters. I took them back in and they happily exchanged them for a shoe that was a much better fit. Their shoes aren't cheap but at the end of the day, do you really want cheap shoes? Today I drove a visually impaired friend to Running Warehouse to get some new shoes. This is a real challenge, as one foot is longer than the other, and he has balance issues. The saleslady named Grace worked with us and was incredibly patient. He tried on probably eight different brands and sizes, walked through the store, and tried them on the treadmill. He found one that worked, thanks to her patience and knowledge about feet and footwear. I would recommend Running Wearhouse for anyone serious about good running shoes or, as in this instance, for anyone with some challenging foot issues. Grace was amazing and so knowledgeable (she was a kinesiology major in college), and the other staff were very kind, too. I've been in a couple of times and Peter has been so helpful with finding me the perfect running shoes. He actually got me hooked on the brand Altra because I was always a Nike person but the Torin 5 are a game changer! He really takes the time to understand what type of running shoes (zero drop shoe, trail running, road shoe and etc.) that I am needing for my everyday running and what technology best fits my needs. I made a purchase on 12/28/2022 and paid for UPS 2 day air. The website indicated that my card would NOT be charged until items had shipped. On 12/29/22, my card was charged, and it indicated "items shipped", however there was no tracking data. By 1/2/23, I still did not have the items and no tracking. I contacted customer support and they were not helpful. They eventually responded saying I could cancel the order if I wanted. So I did. They had the package, which was still en route, redirected back to their warehouse. And, that was received by them on 1/3/23, however I have still not been refunded my $536.30 as of 1/6/23, and have disputed the charge with my credit card company. Really horrific customer service, and DISHONEST. They charge your card BEFORE it ships! read more

Great customer service. I came in by recommendation from a friend. I k ow nothing about running or what kind of shoes I shoes use or how much more space I needed than my shoe size. They put you for 10 seconds to run while they record how you run and how your feet respond and then give you a recommendation of what type of shoe you should use. They were very patient with my ignorance on the while subject. They're system was down but based on their friendliness and helpfulness I wasn't even internally frustrated at the situation. Free delivery, Free returns, price-matches other online retailers ... plus friendly, courteous, professional service! My physical therapist recommended local running shoe store X around 15 minutes or so south of where I live and my podiatrist recommended local running shoe store Y 40-45 minutes north of where I live. First I wasted my time and gas driving to store X, only to find that (heck, should have called first) X doesn't carry narrow widths "but you can try our shoes on in medium, then we can order it in narrow for you if you give us a (refundable) deposit and come back to try them when they come in" (I wear 8.5- or 9-AA depending on the brand so knowing what size to order in narrow's always a turkey-shoot). And then, when I asked about price-matching the owner gave me a petulant-victim lecture about how local stores are being put out of business by online retailers (seems obvious to me that the way to deal with that is to price-match; customer still needs to spend time and gas to deal with local store). Rather than drive to store Y, I phoned them and found out they *also* don't carry narrow, don't price match, if I come in and try their shoes in medium then they can order what "seems" best in narrow so I can drive back (we're talking two round-trips of an hour and a half each!). Then I surfed for online running shoe stores that have free shipping *and* free returns, ordered the ones I thought would work best for my (neutral, flat) feet, found the Mizuno Wave Ride worked best, will return the ones that didn't work as well. So, why do I love RunningWarehouse better than any other store? Well, I'd originally gotten the Mizuno's from Amazon and the New Balance (1080) from RunningWarehouse. With Amazon, you have to set up a "case" and print out an RMA label and then figure out a way to stick it back on. But with RunningWarehouse they include an RMA label *automatically* with each shipment in case the shoes don't fit perfectly! Plus their customer service is a US-based, friendly shoe professional not someone from overseas who's clueless. Plus they'll price-match any other online retailer. Plus ... well ... they're not "Amazon". Hope this is all helpful! read more

I can't get into the damn store! I have been here 4 diff times. First was on a Saturday, ok that was my bad for not checking to see if a retail store was open on Saturday(?) but then came back on a Monday, a Tuesday , a Thursday, NEVER OPEN. Wtf. And no one answers the phone ever. I have given up trying unfortunately because I heard good things about the store but then I read in these reviews about someone getting their credit card info stolen so just further reason to not shop here. Terrible online customer service. I placed an order, then they sold the last shoe and refused to do something to compensate. I shopped and looked for 2 hours. Finally found what I wanted. I asked to speak to the supervisor. He said they only could give me a 10% discount. They are a multimillion dollar company, if not more. This company use to have great customer service. It has really gone down hill in the last few years. A few years ago, they would have done a better job to help me find the shoe for me. Between race fees, shoes, and clothing - which in the Midwest that involves a summer and winter running wardrobe - running can cost a pretty penny. Another Yelper turned me on to RW and for that I'm so thankful! I'm a bargain hunter and have rarely, if ever, found a better deal elsewhere; especially when you factor in the fact that they have free 2-day shipping and free returns. They also have an amazing selection of clothes, shoes and gear. My only wish is that they had a more user friendly rating and review system on their website. Even though prices are bargain basement, customer service is not. I've emailed them with product questions, order issues, etc. and their responses have always been prompt and helpful. I don't usually do this kind of review (more of a restaurant gal), but after the awesome experience I had with this company I did a search to find where to do a review for them. Asked Son what he wanted for his birthday (he lives on the other side of the country from me)...he found the water reservoir he wanted and gave me a link to two different sites to get it. With Running Warehouse he mentioned that it was free shipping. Uh, that's the one I was going to check out! Price was great compared to others he had sent me, shipping was indeed free and ordering was easy as heck. Next day I got not only a call but an email as well to confirm the order, as I was a new customer and shipping was going to a different location than the credit card address. Can I just say how much I APPRECIATE this extra care on their part to make sure I was for real? Love that they are protecting not only them but me as well! Sure enough, Son received his birthday gift in just a couple days (and he lives in a far remote area), in time for his birthday, and is very happy with it. I've been buying from Running Warehouse for years, but my last interaction with their customer service left me so impressed I had to write a review! To make a long story short, my package got lost in shipment. Customer service responded promptly when I contacted them and even offered to send me a replacement order free of charge! While it did take longer for me to get my order, I was really impressed by the level of service and how they worked to resolve the issue, despite it being a problem with the shipping company. Needless to say, I will continue buying my running gear from them. Their selection is great. Prices are competitive, if not significantly lower than other running retailers. Shipping is free both ways and it's FAST - I typically receive my order the next day. Wish there was a B&M location near me, as I'm more than happy to give them my business! read more

I am reviewing this business as a website as I haven't personally gone to their SLO building. Having purchased running shoes (5 with 3 returned), nutrition items and accessories I can truly say that they have superior service (DELIVERY & RETURNS included), PRICES and quality products. My first purchase were Newton Distances in January 2013 thanks to a friend who recommended the website and I was pleasantly surprised with Golden State Overnight shipping (free for Cal residents) for delivering my package in less than 24 hours. Now in the issues of returns, the RW website states that "an excessive number of used returns within a twelve-month period may limit your eligibility for exchanges or store credit". I don't know what "excessive" means but I have returned (for FREE) three pairs of shoes and a pair of compression calf sleeves (all used for at least 10 miles each) and I have never received such a notice. For this I really give RW two thumbs up, standing O, 10/10, 110 percent and all the other cliche praises I can't think of right now. Ordered a pair of my favorite shoes. The shipper says it was delivered but no shoes. Now they tell me it will take 2-3 weeks to do an audit of the delivery. They will not refund money until the audit is done. This is crazy. None of this is my fault but now I have to wait 3 weeks for them to check to see what happened. How about you just send a new pair overnight while you figure out what happened. read more

My wife and I have bought most of our shoes at Running Warehouse since we started running a few years ago, but my last experience there left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. About a month ago, I went in to Running Warehouse to get a new pair of Brooks to replace my Ghost 11s which has worn out. Apparently on Tuesdays, they have a "buy 2 pairs get 20% off" sale so I decided to splurge and get two pairs - one for running and one to wear as street shoes. Good deal - the staff was helpful, got my shoes, and got out the door with no issues. Unfortunately, the shoes I got for running didn't work out - they simply didn't have the amount of cushion I need so I decided to take advantage of Running Warehouse's guarantee/return policy and take the running shoes back to swap them out for a pair that better fit my needs. The only issue that I was nervous about was whether or not they would make me pay full price for the pair that I swapped out, so I called the customer service number and the agent assured me that I would indeed get the same 20% discount because I initially bought both pairs during the "buy 2 get 20% off" sale. When I got to the store, everything seemed fine until I mentioned the sale. The two employees working at the desk sort of looked at each other and laughed when I mentioned the 20% off and made me feel sort of uncomfortable - like they thought I was trying to game the system or something. The guy who was helping me out explained that that's not how it works and since I was only getting one pair of shoes I wouldn't get the 20% off on the replacement pair. I tried to explain my rationale and told him that the CSR I spoke with told me I'd get the 20% off and he said she was wrong and that since she works "upstairs" that they aren't familiar with the store's policies up there and he would go up and talk them later. I tried to explain why I felt that, since I bought 2 pairs during the 20% off sale that I felt I should get 20% off on BOTH pairs, but eventually I just gave up - I don't like conflict and to be honest the guy working there made me feel really weird about the whole thing, so I ended up just paying full price for the pair I swapped out. This may not seem like a huge deal - the difference ended up being about $45 but to be honest between the girl on the phone telling me that I'd qualify for the sale and the employee's demeanor I most likely won't be going back to Running Warehouse. read more

Running Warehouse is the best! Although I haven't been in store yet, their online site is super easy to use and helpful for all runners. I ordered a pair of toe socks from them using a gift card along with a Visa gift card to cover the remaining balance. The next day, I got a voicemail saying there was missing billing information with the card. After calling back today, I was met with immediate kindness and generosity from one of their customer service workers. They were very helpful and it was a super easy process to fix this small mistake. Big surprise, this is a warehouse. Which means they have tons of shoes. The selection alone makes it worth at least a visit. The prices are competitive, and in some cases much less that their competitors. This was my first time to The Running Warehouse. I can see why it gets five stars on yelp. If you're looking for good shoes and great information on running, this is the place for you. I had run 5K's and 10K's in the past but as I wanted to get more prepared for longer runs like half marathons and full marathons, I wanted my gate to be evaluated by a professional. I assumed I was pronating from the way my shoes were worn out on the outside right heel and outside left heel. But what we found, was that I struck my heel in those places but corrected the angle and did not pronate through my ankle and lower leg. The video of me running really helped show me my strengths and faults. It also helped me find out what kind of shoe I needed and wanted. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and really friendly. I didn't feel any pressure on which shoe to buy and had tons of choices. The shoes here are not cheap. But, they are all quality shoes and have different areas of focus. All in all, I had a great experience and will definitely be back for my running needs. Cheers! read more

This is a great store to get running shoes, but in my case for walking instead. When we travel up 101 we stop there sometimes to get new shoes. Grace was a big help to me pairing me up with my new Asics Gel-Nibus 23 black and GT -2000 10 Sheet Rock/Pink Rave. They fit like a glove and are the best fit ever! They had my sizes too. So if you're looking for quality shoes and don't mind taking a trip to San Luis Obispo I highly recommend them it's worth the drive, and by the way, make a trip out of it on the way, or on the way back instead, that's what we do when we travel. It's been about a year since my last review and Running Warehouse continues to be the finest running shoe and apparel company in the country. Their customer service still excels and they always treat me with first class hands on customer satisfaction. Recently had a negative experience with my long term running shoe manufacturer, Asics as their shoe quality and design have both deteriorated the last few years, specifically with their Nimbus 18 and 19's. This is too bad because I've been running in Asics for over thirty years. Running Warehouse worked with me to receive warranty satisfaction from Asics and helped me find rock solid replacement shoes. Ordered two items here for my daughter for Christmas. She loved the jacket but the vest style didn't suit her. I procrastinated the return because, well, returns can be a hassle. Imagine my surprise when the return process was clearly stated on the packing list with the return label already attached! So easy! No need to find a website, look up an order #, blah, blah, blah. I had to take away a star because there has been a supply issue lately with them. The selection of sizes dwindles quickly. Twice I wanted to exchange shoes for a different size and they run out of the size I need before I can exchange them. This place is just great all around. The staff is knowledgeable and fun and most of them (if not all) have a passion for running. They can look at your gait and pretty much everything else and tell you what shoe is best for you. The only thing negative about the store is that the staff is relegated to finding your shoe and size in this enormous warehouse. They run back there and come back 10 minutes later with your sizes. I brought my wife here today for some running shoes. This is how a business should be run. My wife was waited on by an expert who took the time to fit her in the right shoe. He didn't force her into the first pair he brought like many places do. He was patient and thorough. What is also cool is once you have found a pair you like they put you on a treadmill and filmed you run. This is another tool to make sure you have the right shoe.
