I do not even know where to begin.. Colin (& Julia) are just simply amazing! They really saw our…read morevision of what 24 ft of living space could really be... He transformed a failed DIY attempt/ neglected nearly 60 year old airstream into what our children call the "first class" off grid camping experience that can comfortably sleep 6 with the pet... He put the materials to test to make sure it can withstand our crew (note we have boys & a high energy terrier) ... the dinette fits us all & transforms to a king size bed at night... This rig has turned out to be an oasis that we all just want to be in all the time. Colin is a master mind.. we found him on a decade old airstream forum that someone said he really knows his stuff & Julia does all of the coordinating... She deserves a shout out as well! Colin noticed everything from rusted out chassis to making sure that our windows could be blacked out as we have a very light sleeper in our family. Colin was even was willing to help us out with diagnosing issues that had nothing to do with his work on the trailer! He redid EVERYTHING from frame to solar panels...Even hand welded the rivets...note this takes a substantial amount of time to do.. so this project took nearly 2 years to complete & we knew what we were getting into with the cost for a project of this size... So many quotes that we got were half the amount of detail and they really seemed like they were going to rush it/ charge a small fortune pointlessly with a lot of unknowns that left us feeling uneasy about it ... We didn't want something like that, so we kept looking and looking until we found the right person for the job. You cannot find a better & more qualified person for your airstream. With that... any person who knows airsteams, knows that we airstream people are very particular about the detail put into our curved walls, especially those that are vintage... They just don't make them like they used to. We are so happy with the renovation result and we highly recommend them for your complex job! If you want it accurately restored to the era, they can definitely get it done :) If you are like we are and value the time & thoughtfulness put into a job well done, these are by far the people for you. We will be back when the kids grow for the remodel to fit our retired life needs (assuming Colin is still up for another challenge at that time) They are truly gems!

A few Considerations before you email him based on my experience. 1) You get what you pay for. Colin is not cheap but to be honest with the level and quality of his work he could be charging even more. He was great when walking me through what was needed for safety and items of repair that could wait a season or two if you're on a tighter budget. No pressure to upsell and made the whole process easy. 2) Keyword is "Retro" - If you have a repair for a never RV/van I would highly recommend you look elsewhere as Colin specializes in Retro/VINTAGE RV's. I'm sure he can repair the newer ones but he shines with anything pre- 1990's. 3) Use email - Colin works most of the time from mobile or in his shop and is hard to reach on the phone. Use his email to give him as much detail as possible on your repair. This helped me as I was able to see the breakdown of what was needed and I was able to keep them for my records on future repairs. Thank you Colin for all the work you have done to the Tiger, can't wait to start the next phase of restorations with you!

Not the kind of problem you want to deal with on a trip. I called Nick and he responded right away. He made time to come out the same day. He diagnosed the issue quickly and knew exactly what was wrong. The automatic transfer switch had failed. Instead of delaying the repair, he tracked down the part himself, picked it up, and came back to install it. That level of effort matters when you are on a tight timeline. The repair was clean and professional. Power was restored and my entire weekend was back on track. What could have been a ruined trip turned into a great one. He did not stop there. He worked through the warranty process and made sure the repair was covered. I ended up fully reimbursed by the manufacturer. That saved me money and a lot of hassle. Nick goes above and beyond. He is responsive, knowledgeable, and committed to taking care of his customers. If you need mobile RV service, this is the guy to call. Nick if you see this, I truly apologize for such a late review. My mother in law stills talks about how nice you were and was happy that you stayed for a meal with us!

During the process there was some wood that was jacked up around the fridge where it anchors to the cabinets. I'm not overly picky just like bare minimums for my rig..but I wasn't thrilled because the fridge didn't stand straight. Nonetheless Nick said whether it was like that before or from his install he'd handle it next time around. Welp 7 months later my roof is leaking, I found again for roof leak repairs and he quoted, came out in a couple days, had it worked up, threw a little extra seal along the roof gutter that came off at material cost only..and he honored what he said from 7 months prior by finding pieces to anchor the fridge while doing the roof work at no extra charge. Additionally, I found a small leak from a clamp when using the hot water heater and he stopped by the campground on 24 hour notice and found the origin of the leak and fixed that for me quickly too (no charge). I'm happy with his response to the previous issue and quick turnaround time and will use him for quite a few other projects moving forward!

Found this shop thru Yelp and SUPER happy I did!…read more My car was diagnosed by a local mechanic to have a faulty transmission. I took my car in and the owner Joe was extremely helpful, honest and really knows his stuff! He explained to me the different possible scenarios and involved me in every step of his diagnostic. (I even went with him on his test drive! Super smart dude!) My car ended up not having a transmission issue but rather a engine misfire, caused by a faulty gasket. After being misdiagnosed, any dishonest transmission shop could have taken advantage. Not Joe! I saved a ton of money and he gained a life long customer. Also! He sends you videos of the repair process just like the dealer! Super cool!

When you take your car to a shop for repair, the best you could hope for is that the shop you take…read moreit to treats you fairly, does a good job, and they respect you and your situation. The last thing you hope for, is that they only want to get as much money as possible from you and they have little concern for you as a customer. I wouldn't recommend bringing your car here because my experience was bad, and I'll explain why. I'll also recommend the transmission shop that worked out well for me. I usually start any repair by calling a few shops to see if a shop can do the job and what they estimate the cost to be. When I called Transmission Super Shop, I talked to the Owner Joe. And He didn't remember that I had called for a quote about my coolant system months ago, and he had given me a quote on transmission.. The previous quote I got was $5500. And during this call he was quoting upwards of $6000. It was easily a 15-20minute call, because I was driving from Downtown to Santa Monica and I was parking in Santa Monica when we concluded. Most of the discussion was him explaining to me why it was so expensive. I could tell he was upselling me from the previous time we spoke. And it concluded with me saying, "Well I simply don't have a budget for that amount" A few minutes later, He texted me back, saying that he would do the job for $3500. I will include Screenshots. Already, I would consider prices that are based on the amount of money the customer has, a "Yellow Flag" if not a "Red Flag". But after discussing it with him, it sounded more like he was scaling the type of work to fit my needs. He was willing to do a repair, rather than a replacement. And seeing as how they are a transmission shop that specializes in that type of work, it made sense that they would be willing and able to do that. I said, I would think about it and get back to him. At the time, I was considering selling the car, and My lease was up on my place, so I had to consider the added costs of moving. Tough Choice. I did some budgeting, and Messaged him a few days later and he said that the price was only good for that week. Which, okay, that sets off some warning signals. Why would the price change in a week? Sort of seems like a tactic to pressure the customer into doing the job... And it was. But, I thought about it and later that week I asked him if I could bring it in on the following monday because rent was due and it would work better if I waited till another pay check. He didn't remember our conversation. He asked what it was about, and he said he deleted the conversation. I totally get it, customers come and go and you deal with a lot of people, but it wasn't the best customer service. You would hope that if someone gives you a week to decide, that when you call back later that week they would still remember the ultimatum that forced you to consider rearranging your life to meet. But as it turns out, that's not the kind of customer service and consideration that Transmission Super Shop Offers. It was inconvenient to him. He said it was okay to bring the car in on that date. When the date came, I actually texted to ask if I could bring the car in earlier. Once again He didnt remember. And he said it would take 2 weeks. Which was different than what he had said earlier. So I asked why. He no longer wanted to do the job. But you should read the text messages and get a feel for the customer service and get a sense of his thought processes and mine. Decide for yourself what you think of it. But I'll give you my impression and my takeaway, because that's what a yelp review is. An account of my experience of a business. As a means of helping other people with their big decisions when considering that business. My impression of Joe and the Transmission Super shop.... They want your money, they want you in and out. Don't ask questions. Don't be inconvenient. Don't waste their time. Every conversation was actually a negotiation. RECAP: 1. I called for a quote and he didnt remember the previous quote and raised the price. 2. I didnt have the money, so he made me an offer, but said it was only good for that week. 3. I asked if I could bring it in early, he said no, & it would take 2 weeks 4. I ask why, and he says he doesn't want to do the job anymore. But as a customer, I was always acting on the information from our previous exchange. And each time he didnt remember and changed the situation and seemed annoyed by my questions. In his mind, he's giving me a deal and I should just bring it in no questions asked. He wasn't understanding of my situation. For me it was a months rent trying to save the life of my car, for him it was annoying. When your mechanic is annoyed that you have questions, its a problem.
