I finished a workout and needed to refuel so I fired up my Yelp app and found Art's nearby. I actually walked by the store a few days earlier when visiting https://www.scadstory.com/ as it's just across the street. So the big interesting thing is that there's a full sized SCAD bus inside the store! The kitchen is inside the bus and you can go upstairs for seating (as well as what they have on the perimeter). There were just a few patrons in the store so I didn't have to wait to make my order. I ordered an açaí bowl with a scoop of protein powder. It took about 5 minutes or so for it to come out and it was picture perfect! Lots of strawberry and banana on top of the açaí. I'm not a huge fan of shredded coconut but when I mixed it all up, the flavors were great. It had the right amount of sweetness and since it was pretty warm outside, it really hit the spot. This place is so cute and unique! From the outside it looks like a normal shop with a few nice white bistro tables outside so you can enjoy the beautiful weather we have here in Savannah. It has two decorative pots by the entrance. When you walk in you see that the whole "kitchen" employee area is a bus. A huge double decker bus! Crazy. What a great idea. I love the chai tea. We got stuck in a major downpour, while out exploring the city and happen to be nearby Arts and jumped in side to take cover from the rain and wind. We ordered a coffee as well as a chai tea latte to ride out the storm. They do have offerings of other things, such as smoothie bowls and sandwiches. The cool thing about Arts is that it is directly connected with the Savannah school of art and design and many people working are actual students in the College. My husband really enjoyed his coffee and the chai latte was absolutely delicious. Definitely borders more of the vanilla side of the chai which I love. Found it disappointingly bitter, and a step below what you would find in other chain places like Starbucks Gryphon GOAT salad - 4.5/5. Actually really enjoyed this, the ingredients played well together and the goat cheese was a great add. Obviously not going to be any fine dining, but well put together in my opinion Açaí bowl - 4/5. Only stopped in for a latte while doing the Savannah Trolley tour. Super cute interior with a refurbished bus enclosing service area. Staff was nice and helpful. Honey Cinnamon Latte with almond milk was delicious. Didn't have time to grab food, maybe next time. Restroom was super clean and appreciated! Very chill and relaxed spot with open space concept. Biggest down fall is WiFi is only available to SCAD students so I couldn't stay here to work during the day as I had originally planned. The açaí bowl is okay, but not the best we've had. This is the first place I've seen serve granola with raisins, which we didn't like but just picked out and put to the side. We popped into Art's for a quick treat during a recent tour of Savannah. The shop was so cute with a full size double decker bus (kitchen downstairs, dining tables upstairs), a small selection of SCAD gifts, and a display of all kinds of work from SCAD students. We purchased two iced teas and a cowboy cookie. The teas were delicious - hibiscus lime - and refreshing after a long day walking around in the heat. The cowboy cookie (chocolate chips, Heath, and corn flakes were inside!) was very tasty, albeit HARD. I don't know if the cookies are that crunchy once they cool, or if the cookie was a few days old, but I'm not sure I'd order it again. If you're one who likes to dip your cookie into your coffee though, I would totally recommend this cookie for that purpose! Truly, Art's is a fun stop! Coming from out of town.. We were looking for a cup of good espresso coffee. We checked online and found this little place and decided to walk to it.. It is only about 3 blocks from the Inn we were staying at. As we walked in, I immediately noticed a about 3 employees behind the window, one in particular caught my eye, a young lady picking on the outer right side of her nose. Imagine, if you will, picking a scab on your face, it's what it appeared. We walked up to the counter, my husband ordered two cappuccinos and a blueberry muffin from the lady at the register. Meanwhile, the other young lady made eye contact with me while STILL PICKING THE SIDE OF HER NOSE. She had red acrylic nails, going in.. Whatever she was picking at was giving resistance! The order taker proceeded to tell her to grab our muffin. THIS YOUNG LADY... Grabs the mask she had moved down to her chin to pick her face, pulls it up above her nose, opens the Muffin Container...AND WITHOUT A GLOVE OR WASHING HER HANDS... GOES TO GRAB OUR MUFFIN WIITTTHHH THE HAND SHE WAS PICKING THE SIDE OF HER NOSE WITH! My husband and I watched this, I swear in my mind it was in slow motion. We told the cashier to cancel our order and walked out. We ended up going right next door and enjoyed our coffee and tea sandwiches there. Absolutely incredible. We didn't say anything at the store because there were about 10 people there, and we didn't want to embarrass this young lady, at the end of the day, she is our children's age. But she should be a little bit more aware of her actions while working with food in the hospitality business. read more

Back in April and overly excited for our first visit to SCAD, we arrive way to early for our scheduled time so we popped over across the street to Art's. So glad we were eager beavers! Great decor - modern, clean and had a great vibe! Had a great cappuccino - loved the fact that they have simple syrup!- and my daughter ordered "something in a bowl". Right before we had to leave she asked if I wanted to taste it and oh my it was so good! Flash forward to today: we ventured back to Art's and she reminded me of that Bowl. After talking to the staff - "was it purple or pink" we reordered the Acai Bowl. Made with acai berries, granola, honey, yogurt, bananas... just fresh and good ingredients! Owned by SCAD and staffed by student employees, this place is pretty cute and handy when you want to grab a quick cuppa coffee or a snack. The make smoothies w lots of add-ins (Almond butter, granola, banana, etc.) Thats probably what they're best known for. By the checkout are a few packaged cookies and bars, bags of chips and nuts. And a case of cold beverages - teas, yerba mate, Powerade, etc. Ooh they even have Orangina! I ordered the special latte, a honey cinnamon latte. It was delicious. Seating is very limited here. Food of questionable freshness; undoubtably rotten service. We had a disastrous visit to Art's today. We selected two pre-made salads from the refrigerator, and noted that the date on the bottom indicated that they had been made three days previously. We asked the gentleman behind the counter (who appeared to be the manager/supervisor) if it was possible to get a fresh salad made. He was incredibly dismissive of our request and told us the salads in the case were the only ones available (and that they keep the salads in the case for up to four days before throwing them out). As we were in a rush and didn't have time to go anywhere else, we grabbed the three-day old salads despite our misgivings about their freshness. While I was waiting for the rest of our order to be made I noticed that he had put additional salads in the refrigerator case - they were fresher versions of the exact salads we had ordered. I did not appreciate being told that it was not possible to get a fresher salad when that turned out to be blatantly untrue. The salads themselves showed their vintage - the cheese was dried up and the vegetables were wilted. The only saving grace was rest of the staff was very friendly and professional. read more
