Arturo's is a mainstay for the downtown and state agency employee crowd. It's an artsy place, with an underground dining room and a good selection of healthy menu items for lunch, mostly quesadillas and sandwiches. Their breakfast tacos are really good too. How have I just now discovered Arturo's? I had their pineapple mimosas, the ultimo breakfast sandwich and a mocha latte. Everything was amazing! Their mocha latte tasted like a delicious hot chocolate coffee. This place was such a fun find on our weekend adventure to Austin. Getting right down to business the food was AMAZING. My friends and I all got different plates and we were all drooling over our food. Very flavorful to say the least. The parking situation is a little scarce and we did have to pay $10 at the private parking meter to park for 3 hours so keep that in mind if you're headed over Also, during the weekends they only accept cash so be sure to bring cash on your next visit. Food: One of the things I loved about this place was the amount of food, and this time around I felt like there wasn't as much. It was still good quality: the potatoes, the sauce, and the flavors of the dish were great. But I felt like something was lacking. Service: Friendly staff! It feels very local and like a small business. Atmosphere: Nice spot with chill vibes right near campus. Can't go wrong here, it feels like I'm right in the heart of Austin. Food was GREAT! Drinks were okay. Also parking is hard to find: we found street parking but had to drive around for about five minutes. My friends and I got a couple things to share/taste. We got the grilled cheese, the Eggs in a Basket and French toast! The grilled cheese was very tasty! It had a couple different types of cheeses which made the sandwich really interesting! I highly recommended adding on avocado! It was in between two slices of yummy jalapeño cheese bread and had onions and tomatoes! Very tasty sandwich and came with really tasty salsa! The eggs in a basket was phenomenal!!!!!!! The pesto really complemented the bread (same jalapeño cheese bread) and the egg! HOWEVER: the egg was a bit runny, but I like it like that. If you want it done a certain way, tell them when you order! French toast was very tasty! Challah bread is my fave and the dish made me feel like home! Arturo's is my current favorite lunch spot during the work week, though I've heard (and read) that they have a stellar breakfast spread as well. The staff is always smiling and the orders are packed and served for takeout within minutes. My favorites are the Thai veggie quesadilla (served with Spanish rice, beans, and salsa), and the Thai chicken sandwich (served with chips and pickles). Prices range from $10-$12 for most items and they make for a very hearty meal, sometimes even leftovers. The interior is cheery and cozy and there are about half a dozen tables in the downstairs seating area, and other couple of tables outside. Lines do get long around peak lunch hour (12-1) but lines move fast as well. I'm already craving my next Thai quesadilla! read more

We ordered the Caribbean toast to split for the table, and I ordered the Último with the cheddar, jalapeño bread made by a local bakery nearby. Y'all, let me tell you, my decision was based solely on wanting to try this bread. 12/10. The waiter couldn't tell us where the bakery was, so we convinced them to let us purchase a loaf from the kitchen. Staff service is not the best, but the food makes up for it. Ended up here for brunch around 11am on a Saturday because there was not a wait (we got the last available table). Had never been before because I tend to avoid places around campus when classes are in session and especially during home football games. But, we were in desperate need of sustenance and caffeine so we came in blind. I definitely dig the quirky vibe and decor here and the "underground" is the very small seating area down some steps from the entrance. There are some great art pieces (my favs being the Trump/Clinton as clowns and the rhino) that made my brunch a little more enjoyable because they brought a smile to my face. The staff here were absolutely awesome! The host/cashier especially. I had called ahead to find out the wait time and he was very kind to tell me there was none at the moment, but that could change quickly. We were sat quickly and our orders were taken promptly. They have a bottomless cup of decent coffee and their Austin benedict (their most popular dish we were told) was on point. The accompanying bfast taters were hit and miss for texture, but were flavorful. A friend got the Toad in the Hole that was surprisingly delish! The pesto in it was also on point! We left very full and satisfied and w/tax and tip for just under $20, it was a decent brunch find in the UT/Dwntwn area.
